Take a look at most taxis you see on the road bet 7/10 of them are Audi’s/vws because the pd130 engine is arguably the best Diesel engine ever made good for well over half a million miles if maintained efficiently.
Richie Richardson (3 hours ago)
In all honesty cars are not made as good as they used to be there’s to much technology on them to go wrong these days, but having owned 2 used high mileage BMW’s and 3 high Millage Audi’s I can say they are the most reliable cars it’s not opinion it’s fact you pay for what you get hence why they are much more expensive and all round nicer than fords etc etc, people who say otherwise are jealous because they can’t afford one. Got a 2005 Bmw 330cd mapped to 270 bhp with 130k on nails any so called fast ford the try’s it.

The Germans will pay every single magazine, website, TVshow on earth in order to get their cars on a top10 list. The truth is that their products (not only cars) are designed to squeeze every little penny of your wallet during the years. They have a very good system at doing it and their government is involved on this as well i.e. the Volkswagen emissions scandal. If you want a reliable answer ask the mechanics. Every single one of them will praise the Japanese (the Made in Japan ones).

Audi and BMW actually had many recalls the last years, which places them down in this table. However, other manufacturers wouldnt even make these recalls, and when it comes to reliability, many 100t km tests (and my experience) indicate that they are at minimum top 10.

Say no to Volkswagen, Ford
Scott Robinson (2 days ago)
Got to think though. BMWs, Audi’s and the like have so much tech inside that something is bound to go wrong. I’ve got a Ford Focus. As soon as I saw Ford was on the least dependable list my initial reaction was “aw shit” lmao.
Gandalfwiz2007 (2 days ago)
By reliability i understand 10 to 15 years without major repairs. I have canned food that lasts longer than modern cars 5 to 6 years

Bullshit all british car are not reliable
Peter Andrews (6 days ago)
The real issue should not be the number of faults but how the service department responds to the issue. In Australia, VW, Mercedes, and Ford have a bad reputation for customer support. The Jeep group that also have Fiat and Alfa are even worse and the word support is not used when talking about their cars.
Fianoglach_ Airm (7 days ago)
as an owner of over 11 bmws over the years i can confirm these results . no car drives like them they are fabulous but my god they are unreliable

Skoda 👍👍

Biased scores towards the western brands. I think Toyota is more reliable than many of the other brands

UTE TV (13 days ago)
there is no more tech in an average bmw to that of a kia/subaru. the faults are due to poor engineering and cheaper materials assembled poorly (e.g. V8 X5 USA). europeans with better marketing convince the world german and italian cars are higher quality when it's perception that they lead in. MB is the classic example for the last 20 years.

Zaphods BlueCar (16 days ago)
For the record, I've had three 'modern' Jags (XF facelift / XE / XF II) - ZERO faults in any of the cars. Nil. Nada. People who question their reliability are uninformed / living in the past. The reliability scores are echoed in the U.S. too.
Zaphods BlueCar (9 days ago)
bullsh!t - the reliability of the 'modern' Jags is just as good as any premium manufacturer...

Sample of 3 vs JD Power with thousands to compare
Nikk Carroll (16 days ago)
Cars are built differently in Europe than NA. Here in the state's the most common cars u see broken on the side of the road is Ford and kia. Bmw's and audis are ranked high on the fault list because of the massive amount of electronics they contain. Naturally, if you have more things that can break, you'll have more things break
UTE TV (13 days ago)
then why have things that break? bad engineering masked by marketing BS
korencek (19 days ago)
how to really determine the most reliable car? check how many 10+ years old cars are selling and how many of those cars were sold in 10+ years ago. the most reliable car will drive the longest.

UTE TV (13 days ago)
Visit Consumer Reports and JD Power USA, much more realistic appraisal, big samples and Subaru better represented.
Cris Rampling (23 days ago)
When you look at other reliability sources, such as warranty claims returns, this survey doesn't stack up. Japanese and Korean cars dominate the top tens in other surveys with companies such as Mercedes, Skoda and Jaguar featuring in the top twenty rather than a top ten.
Oliver Andersson (23 days ago)
Meh... i went for a Mazda 3 2016 over a v40 since it was 8000 euro more pricey fully equipped.
George (23 days ago)
Volvo? You must be kidding, you do not wish to own one out of warranty. Also... No Lexus? The king of reliably? JD power survey needs serrious review. 12000 owners is too few and age of the cars is too young for real nasty problems to appear. Your poorly designed transmission is more likely to kak it between 3-6 years than under 3. Meanwhile too much weight is given to infotainment system which can be subjective.. so your 5 year old iphone will disconect bluetooth few time and that fault is same as broken turbo or cracked engine block? Not to mention how many of these reported infotainment systems issues could be user incompetence with technology? My mother is incapable of settling up a wifi on her phone... that is not phone fault. I tend to trust survey out of USA more as they track far more users and over longer time and they score faults on severity so that rusted body work is not same as oh my headlights bulb has burned out so ill record a fault.. for normal wear and tear issue.
Jamie french (25 days ago)
Take this with a pinch of salt- you need to consider the severity, frequency etc. Of the faults. Catastrophic engine failure shouldn’t really equate to a fault window button (for arguments sake). Not to mention the volume of cars on the road etc.
Marc (25 days ago)
People in this comment section will still call Mercedes shitboxes that break down in a matter of 10 years

My Audi A1 was sweet in years 1 2 3 4 5 🤣 so i guess I can't complain... but in year 6 ( only 40k miles ) and it's been in the garage twice/ 3 times. To be fair .... worn shock sping from "pot hole UK" ....a brake click noise from badly fitted front pads.... and an airbag light from a trapped wire .. so fairly easy repairs. So I guess I can't complain to much. 🤔 .... but after 6 years a few rattles are starting to form here and there.
Ronnie vlogs (28 days ago)
Audi are the best
Jaska Mäkynen (29 days ago)
All of these are new cars, so I don't see much talking point in their reliability. We'll know that after 5 years or so. Do a similar one of older models (2012 max for instance). I bet honda & toyota will wipe floors there with others tbh..
David Håkansson (29 days ago)
Subaru?
elukok (29 days ago)
It is kind of deciving. The more complex and the more technology the car has, the more probable the failure is. Of course, people buying BMW will have more stuff in the car then for example kia, which is mostly bought with just basic stuff. So there is a higher chance of failure for more complex cars. For these statistics to be relevant, cars with the same equipment would have to be compared.

Proof you talk utter rubbish. You rave about BMW and they came last! But you still defend them. They are terrible.
UTE TV (13 days ago)
He talks utter marketing. this is not a review site, it's advertising and this video cannot be marketed as it's a survey independently done (accurate or not). car industry uses this guy and all the clones across all countries to do the same. it's a cushy job compared to most sales and marketing gigs.

I always maintained that German cars are overpriced, over engineered rubbish. Thanks for proving me right
UTE TV (13 days ago)
Except for their inline 6ers, poorly engineered.
Sukant Chakraborty (1 month ago)
Skoda most dependable !! Right .... Also how did jaguar and land rover fair so differently!! They are essentially the same company
Leon (1 month ago)
I asked my friends and some other people for best cars and they all say get a german car because they are the best.... I have been knowing this fact for at least 2 years now that Japanese and korean cars are the best in reliability. My car will be either Kia, Toyota or huyndai. I want a car with no problem and looks alright.

This is a very mixed bag of half truths that rests on 1 commercial entity's study... Merc in rhe last 2 yrs has in most western markets scored the lowest and one of the most unreliable especially in the entry and mid segments. Get some real info. journo's investigative work done.

Here’s a general rule: Cars with direct injection and turbochargers never are as reliable as their predecessors with a naturally aspirated engine and fuel injection or even a carburetor
UTE TV (13 days ago)
DI common issue is and will be carbon build up. turbos and DI are otherwise reliable.

volvo doing well :D

Old cars are the reliable cars specailly old cars from 90s amd early 2000s classics were better and were simple with low problems and easyer to use and less tech in them which made people concentrate more on road then these stupid screens in top of your dashboard like a stupid flimsy plastic plate.

KIA is dependable because most of their customers dont really care about cars. I know, my wife rides one. She didnt even care about anything, until I drove it and complained about everything. Then she had a realization and asked me for a better car. bad move, me. Expensive cars have picky customers. Windy noise is a huge flaws and in cheap cars, clanky metal in the engine seems normal. Not sure if this can be a fair comparison.

Funny results since my Volvo was an appalling heap of shite. Bought it thinking it would be reliable and easy to live with but it was the exact opposite. Broke down all the time, fragile engine and crappy electronics. Hard to wrench on so i had to leave it at Volvo dealers to fix sometimes and they were incompetent and expensive. It broke down in december and has been sitting at our apartment parking lot for three months since i cant be bothered to fix it again. Bought a mercedes and havent had a single problem with it despite quite high mileage.

Anton Vlasenko (1 month ago)
Lol, my BMW was first robbed, then spent 3 month at the dealership, after that 2.5 to fix it after the dealer's hands, and just few months after I had engine issues when I was overtaking parked cars in residential area. After first service steering wheel stopped working, the car was less than 2 years old. Can't sell it right now, nobody wants to pay for it even thought it has a greater spec than Skoda for the same price.
Panis Angelicus (1 month ago)
No surprise, yet the dickheads who keep buying Audis and BMWs will continue to do so because (1) they are loaded and (2) they don't give a shit as long as the car makes them look good.

Facts are different. A BMW in the USA is different from a BMW in Germany. Factories are different, models are the same and build quality probably is not.
UTE TV (13 days ago)
Germans engineered those US and South African built cars. Marketing nonsense to say Euro built = better. Japan (and Toyota especially) are way ahead but have little cache marketing wise to use as propaganda.
