Not one German car in this list pound for pound or dollar for dollar you can't beat the reliability of Japanese cars why waste your money on an over priced pocket raping German car! I own an 2008 prius still going strong and my next car will be a lexus.

Got an ‘02 Camry with 250k miles still running great a 16’ highlander that’s still a new born baby and a 2000 Tacoma with 189k on it and still running like new! Toyota all day everyday for me and the family!!!!!
I kept my 2001 highlander for 14 years and sold it, because I didn't have room for it anymore. I think about that car almost everyday. I sold it with over 300k miles on it and still had no issues. We also kept a 1990 Camry in my family for about 20 years. We ended just giving it awat, but that car was A TANK. It never gave any issues and I remember taking long family trip from NY to Canada very often as a child. I'm actually going to buy a new Rav 4 this week. Toyota for life!

IN TANZANIA WE GOT A LOT OF 30 TO 40 YEARS OLD VEHICLES ,, old & rugged but still they are on the road,,, all of em are toyotas,, these japanese engineers really know how to make tough unbreackable vehicles
Lyimo Ej (4 days ago)

Also we got a lot of toyota hiluxes,, more than 40 years,, toyota STOUTS especially in rural areas,, COMMONLY IN CHAGGA LAND LIKE KILIMANJARO. We gat corollas and dyna callipers all of em are more than 30 years and still they are working

I kept my 2003 Civic Hybrid (bought in May 2002) right up until March 2018, when I hit a deer late one night and totaled it out.  I've owned Toyota products, but while not as bad as Fords I always found them awkward and never kept them more than a few years.
Scott H (5 days ago)
Give it a real test use it as a Lyft or Uber vehicle and put 90,000 miles on it a year and see how long it lasts
Kenneth Harper (5 days ago)
This may be reliability for the city dweller, but when it comes to the country boy,you see mostly American pick-ups.
Northern Gunner (6 days ago)
My oldest car is a 24 year old Jeep wrangle . I bought it new in 94 and it gets drove almost every day. My next oldest is a 97 Chevy Silverado. That’s my work truck . Then I have a 2000 ram 3/4 ton truck that pulls my trailers around , then a 2000 Toyota truck I take hunting . Next 2001 Chevy suburban just got back from a 2500 mile trip with that one then a 2001 Audi TT convertible which is my wife’s favorite to drive. I also have an 07 mustang which isn’t 15 years old yet but I’m planning on keeping probably forever. I don’t think it to terribly uncommon for people to hang onto a car for a while. Besides who really likes making car payments anyways.

I have a 2002 RAV 4 since new still in the family with about 245K and running strong. Everything works including the AC.
How come there are no European Cars on this list? Volvo, SAAB, Mercs and BMW, not forgetting VW are extremely reliable and long lasting. BTW, where are Rolls and Bentley? I have a BMW 750 iL V12, 1998, a SAAB 2.3t Vector 2004 and a Volvo V70 XC Cross Country 2000. All three are extremely reliable and robust. In a collision any of them shall beat the heck out of any Japanese Tin Lizzy. Ford and GM cars made in Europe are long lasting. American Cars do last long. I had a Lincoln Town Car 1977. I used it until 2000. She was everything that anyone wants in a car. The only shortcoming: Size for Parking.

I agree. Toyota makes the most reliable but boring cars.
Emiljano Shehu (15 days ago)
I treat her bad and she doesn’t let me down. I let her unwashed for long time and she doesn’t get mad at me. I drive her with crappy oil and she still loves me. I buy cheap stuff for her birthdays and she still appreciates my commitment to her. She welcomes me with her warm voice on those arctic mornings and keeps me cool on those scorching days. I drive her hard on those snow covered highways and still, she tells me not to worry when big pickups disappear on ditches. Parked she waits for weeks, sometimes, yet happily she start to greet me. She is my trusted priceless friend. She is Corolla 2001. 160K miles and still going strong.
G Howard (15 days ago)
Mazda 6 and GMC Yukon’s have been the best cars for us.
Joe Copa (16 days ago)
No Camery or accord?
Baylor58 Duncan (16 days ago)
The same people who brought us a list of lemons littered with Lexus etc. Based on the cost of a Highlander and Sequoia they'd better last that long.
Mick Taylor (16 days ago)
Some people don't drive much and that is a factor. If you do keep a car you had better know a good mechanic or at minimum have a very good extended warranty.
Adam Kowalski (17 days ago)
no Subaru?
Andy Thompson (17 days ago)
My 05 Tundra is still going strong, and my little 87 pick up has been with me since new.

Compressor was replaced, along with the pressure valve after 130K.
Gary Curtis (18 days ago)
Wow most overrated cars of all time from Toyota. Purchased by people that hate driving and are tight with their money. Keeping their old car doesn't make the car more reliable.
DaddytechEnt (18 days ago)
*how about trying one that includes domestics while i agree most of these people that own toyota's and Honda's are good cars and trucks, Obviously somehow domestic vehicles were completely left out of this "survey" as most GM, Cadillac, Dodge,Jeep, and Ford owners keep their vehicles for longer than 15 years. Most of those aren't out of need they actually love their vehicles that much that they just DO keep them*
Chris Van Bekkum (18 days ago)
My 92 shadow has 800000 km on it and is going strong. Not same engine but still.

JACK KANGAROO (19 days ago)
I know that Toyota has been the darling of automotive reviewers for a long time but my single experience as a Toyota owner left me underwhelmed by all the hype. I had a 1989 Toyota Camry. Yes, for the first 100,000 miles I had virtually no problems; just one minor repair that cost $64 to fix. But from 100K to 230K it was one problem after another and when I tallied up the total of repair bills from my files I had spent more than $12,000 repairing the car. On the other hand, I still own a 1997 Maxima which has given me very few problems and still runs great at 142,000 miles. I'm sure most Toyota owners are satisfied but my own experience did not match theirs.
JACK KANGAROO (19 days ago)
Correction: My 1997 Maxima has 242, 000 miles on the odometer, not 142,000.
ben s (19 days ago)
Land rover should be on the list
Carolyn Merrick (19 days ago)
Of course these vehicles last longer, because they are bought by city dwellers who drive on pavement their entire life. American made trucks are bought for the mining, farming, logging, and construction business where they have the shit driven out of them on dirt and gravel roads where some of these foreign trucks wouldn't last a week.
Justin Minnow (19 days ago)
My dad had a Chevy s10 with a 4.3l vortec v6 .He would deliver newspapers from Sudbury to Manitou Lin island in Ontario Canada. He drove year round averaging 500kms daily .That little 1995 s10 had 550 000kms when he stopped working at the Sudbury star. Ps It was still going strong.

We still have our 2005 Pontiac Vibe, bought new. Best of the 36 different vehicles we have owned
Marcel Zues (23 days ago)
Wait wait wait, bullshit. I thought people say that BMW and Mercedes-Benz are one of the most reliable cars on the planet. Specifically the BMW M5 V10. Why they didn't make the list?
Tom Helsel (23 days ago)
I have a 1997 4Runner. It's my oldest and most reliable car. Gas, oil, tires, brakes, plugs and one timing belt. Those are the only repairs I've ever done. Everything else still works, every switch, every power window, every power lock, power mirrors, even the interior is rip free. The engine still purrs like a kitten and has plenty of power. Take a look around, how many 3rd gen 4runners do you still see on the road every day? Now how many '97 explores or blazers do you see? Toyota builds stuff that lasts.
kramden (23 days ago)
My 2009 4cylinder Camry is no gem, that is for sure....Will be my last Toyota....
kramden (23 days ago)
Well, I own a 2009 Camry, and you can have it!!

that's nothing, i have a 1979 stainless steel body jeep owner assembled with 600k km, only changed oil and brake pad maintenance, with 70's toyota 4k engine on it, driving strong and won't die...................

Zeynal Namazov (24 days ago)
Not benz?
Peter Holman (24 days ago)
I have a 2001 gmc yukon still going strong at 170000 miles and love it.
rolera 14 (24 days ago)
rich men never want the same car over 10 yrs, this list is for poor folks
rhaven50 (25 days ago)
Had my carola for 13 yrs
Roger didit (25 days ago)
Keeping them doesn't indicate how long they last. I'll put my 250,000 mile Mercedes up against any of them.
porscheman998 (25 days ago)
No big surprises here, but I was expecting to see the Land Cruiser on the list. You’re hard pressed to find a used one for sale that has less than 200k miles on it.
Steve Harris (25 days ago)
Taliban Toyotas and Isis Hondas. How can you argue with 1000s of terrorists:)
YZ FFF (25 days ago)
I have a 1995 Toyota Avalon with 150k miles on it, it runs perfectly
Lety Smallwood (26 days ago)
Let me guess. You work for Toyota, right?
raymond80hr (26 days ago)
there is a lot of cars that go over 15 year my gmc has over 200,000 miles no problem so far.
ArizVideo (26 days ago)
Horseshit! Where are Chevy trucks?
7s29 (26 days ago)
I have a Ford Falcon 2006, runs like a dream but, I also have a 1988 Honda Legend coupe, still looks new. The other car I have is a 1986 Mazda 323, still in great shape. Modern cars, especially the last decade, are beginning to fall apart and break down with expensive repairs.
Rudolph Miller (26 days ago)
Volvo 240 Jeep Cherokee Sport This list is quite deficient
Charles Gates (26 days ago)
I got a 2002 s10 and 2003 mustang both run like new.
Dragan Crnogorac (26 days ago)
Toyota vs fiat I got fiat brava and 200 000 km on the clock repairs: engine head, clutch, break pads, sensors, head lights, door handle, .... My boss got Toyota Corolla and 400 000km on the clock, repairs: clutch and break pads at 300 000 km. Toyota doesn't break and get replaced, they get old and outdated and owner sit start car and drive Toyota to scrap metal for all other cars you need tow truck 200 000 km earlier then you gonna think you need one
Tom Chan (26 days ago)
Now you know why you should buy a Toyota. Reliable, Reliable and Reliable. It saves you money in the long term.
Troy Truong (27 days ago)
High performance engine breaks easier than economical engines. Older german cars last also because of less technology. Newer cars have more problems because of more techs. Common sense.
HodsBroo (27 days ago)
Toyota is the best tbh.
dstarks80 (27 days ago)
Percentages were so low, I'm thinking those were the elderly owners that don't drive much.
