I take Exforge ---a 3way combo pill with valsartan, hctz, and amlodipene. Just got a notice to stop taking because they found the NDMA contaminant. What should my doctor do about this/
Jeff the Pharmacist (1 month ago)
He will probably replace it with something else. He might split it up into three different drugs and keep the hctz and amlodipine the same and switch valsartan. There is a Losartan-HCTZ combo pill so maybe he'll do a losartan - hcts pluz amlodipine. Theres a lot of options

I just found out my camber brand is on the list. My drug store tried to tell me they don't handle this brand and I have the bottle where they put their own sticker over the camber sticker. She even tried to tell me it was not on the list and it is on the list. She got very defensive and when I asked what were side effects and what was wrong with it she would not tell me. Just said, go see your doctor. This tells me this stinks to high heavens. CVS drug store.Get ready for a cover up.

How long has the "tainted" medication been distributed in the United States? Any idea of the synergistic effects? What types of cancer has it been known to cause. Thanks

my mother taking avsar 160. what can i do plz refer me an alternative
Paula Mortensen-Borax (1 month ago)
sohail ahmed Get her on an alternative before she runs out of what she has left. Nobody expressed the urgency to my mother and she went without it for three days and has been in the hospital with congestive heart failure and high blood pressure since. I just barely found out that she still has not been put on the equivalent medication and now they’re telling us it’s just a matter of time before she dies. I’m angry at how lax that everybody is about this yet they are taking people who need pain meds off of opiates that need them and currently in Utah They are trying to ban marijuana even for medical use. Be proactive and ask doctors questions immediately

Hi Jeff, I have been taking Valsartan HCTZ 160.125 MG tabs for over 5 years. I have a hypothetical question for you. Knowing that Valsartan has been recalled, do you go about your day as if everything is fine? IDK? I'd like some honest imput please. What would you do?
Jeff the Pharmacist (2 months ago)
Yeah I don't know what you can do besides go about your day like everything is fine. FDA isn't recommending any special tests or anything.

Hi Jeff Quick Question. Does this also affect the tablets such as LOSARTAN?

The recall just effects Valsartan

Why the hell is China making our Medication? And if so why are we paying so much for it?
Nor Ainah Ali (2 months ago)
Lee Wilson That is indeed expensive! My 5 month supply of Diovan Varsartan 160 costs less than SGD$100 (Abt USD70). Time for USA to pump in more money to healthcare are instead of defence...and cause misery to others.

I have been complaining about this for two years to a Congressman, Companies like Express Scripts that manages companies prescription plans are getting filthy rich for switching to the low cost products from China and India, i am talking about pennys for a pill and these companies mark it up, in my case they wanted $5.00 per pill and insurance would not pay for it. there is more profit on cheap made meds but these pharmacies dont care they are all looking at the $$$$ . Cigarettes and chewing tobacco are at the top of the list for having NDMA , also cured meats, cheese and a lot more but you dont see these products being yanked off the shelf. as i speak alternative similar meds to the Valsartan have increased in price because of the recall although these meds supposedly have a tiny trace amount of this NDMA . Why was these products not being tested when they came to the US ????? Diovan which is a brand name and not mention in a recall is still being offered for sale $700-900 for a 90 day supply at 160mg tablet vs generics $40-200. People cant afford meds as it is ! and insurance are removing more and more Brand names from their coverage list. The American public id being ripped off at the expense of their health and safety. Demand Congress to look into this matter

Bc people don't March! 0r Out-cry 0r have a Movement "No More of this shit!!!" for these issues that Gov allow Companys, especially China to put in American med. &food products🤧😕😕
Jeff the Pharmacist (2 months ago)
I think the US is one of the only countries where we have brand and generic drugs. Companies can be based all over the world but they have to submit to FDA inspections.

I've been on valsartan for years! What happens if I get cancer from it? How is it that they're so cavalier about that??!! How do I know the losartan won't end up the same way? I'm starting to believe what the tinfoilers are saying about big pharma. Y'all are not making it any easier for us to have faith in you.
dmana3172 (11 days ago)
If you eat right and cut down on carbohydrates, you wouldn't even need Valsartan.
Yargo Ook (1 month ago)
Mother Station There is a class action lawsuit starting up I believe - but I dont know much about it yet. I'm going to start checking up on it today.
Claudio C. (1 month ago)
Mother Station numbers coming from EMA and FDA. But the guidelines are clear (e.g. ICH M7) that the increased risk for cancer should not exceed 1:100 000 for long term treatment and 1:1 000 000 for Shorts term treatment. So a 0.02% increased risk which is 1: 5 000 is way to high and the recall is justified. I would say most chemists would have missed the risk of this side reaction. BTW. I visit production sites for suitability assessment of active ingredient suppliers. My company is not affected but topic being discussed big.

I work for Big Pharma and I'm begging you to take valsartan so I can make money off of your health. I don't care about your health, I care about money so I can put you on more drugs and more drugs. ROFL!!! No thanks. I rather stay away from doctors and big pharma and pay a better attention to my health and my diet and you should do that too.

+Claudio C. where did you get those numbers?

Just got my new drug. It is Losartan Potassium. Guess what...also made by the same Chinese company. Same company probably same plants. Same class of drug. Probably same manufacturing process. Has this been tested? Is it safe?
Trinidad Rodriguez (1 month ago)
Me too doctor stopped giving me valsartan and started giving me losartan I don't feel good.
TinyLuvsBostons - (1 month ago)
Look for natural ways to lower your blood pressure. Dr Eric Berg has great videos. Potassium intake from leafy greens is a great place to start. Let food be thy medicine. Let medicine be thy food. - Hypocrites
Jeff the Pharmacist (2 months ago)
That Chinese company does make some of the losartan but not all of it. If you want to avoid it you can ask the pharmacist about the manufacturer they are dispensing to you and where the product comes from. I have had patients want to know where the drugs come from.
2weston (2 months ago)
Hmm. If it is a manufacturing company I think it is important to note that both cadesartan and eprosartan are also produced by this same company. Same producer using same processes and equipment makes me wonder if this stuff also should be tested and if we should avoid that also. How do I know that these suggested alternatives are coming from this company or not. How do I know if they are safe? What is an alternative I can count on.

Can I take Diovan 80 mg By Novartis? or is Re-call too
Lee Wilson (2 months ago)
if you can afford it have you seen their prices, most insurance will not cover Brand name like Diovan. I did hear that Diovan is repackaged under a different name from a company out of Tennessee for the VA and Government agencies but not for the general public.
Jeff the Pharmacist (2 months ago)
So far nothing on brand name Diovan
