So many of my friends and relatives have the same voice I have, but we all speak differently, no computer could replicate my complicated drug affected transatlantic bilingual elite grammar

I’m reminded of the scene in Mission Impossible III when Tom Cruise makes Davian read that little paragraph which I guess was to make the voice chip work.

Imagine in the near future where in video games can get a sample of your voice so your in-game character sounds exactly of your own voice. It would look like you're really inside the game 🤔
BargSlarg (22 days ago)
Still sounds kinda robotic
Stewie Griffin (22 days ago)
Sorry, it sounds like garbage. And your deep fakes look like fakes as well. Not hard to tell someone is AI unless you're using a drive thru speakerphone.

Same exact technology they used for the "victims " on the planes calling their families on 9/11 Who calls their mother and tells them their name? Americans have been so dumbed down is scary

What can possibly be the real use to this technology? Just because you can do something doesn't mean that it should be done. The stupidity of humans never fails...

This plus the new Google service that will call companies and set appointments has a lot of great applications. Imagine having google call your accountant and acheduling an appt with your voice, or having your voice heard when you call a doctors office to set an appointment? I like the positive implications here

It should be banned. It is to dangerous to have in normal public settings and for anyone in the public to be able to access and use. This is one of the things that SHOULDN'T be done. There needs to be world wide agreement on what things to tackle with AI and what things to stay clear of. Think of all the children that could be abducted due to their "parents" calling them over near a van or building etc.

Gotta say... I fail to see ANY positive uses for this "technology"... And Im usually one of those "hey give it a shot" kinda people... There is not a single use case that I can think of that would be an "actual use" for this, that ISN'T malicious or just generally bad... What could possibly be a positive use for this? Seriously? It takes a real person's voice, and mimmicks it, and repeats whatever u tell it to in that mimmicked voice... The only thing u could do with that is malicious... Making "someone" say stuff they normally wouldn't ever say... Because why would you want to take the extra effort to make a computer program copy your voice, then type out a speech, and have it read it back to you? You could just record the speech yourself... It'd be easier, simpler, and more effective...

Allot of the comments make this seem very dark. But, Imagine integrating this tech with language translation software. So that someone speaking another language, would be speaking you're language, in their voice, and not some machines. Amazing are the things morbid curiosity creates.
