I watch other channels and there are many people who retire to mexico !  I would never
I think if one only has say $1000 to retire with a month and they are unable to work any more, going to a country like Mexico or other country like the Phillipines etc makes life a bit more bearable and affordable. I don't know if I want to ever retire. I want to travel forever and live everywhere. We'll see what happens lol :)

It's funny you mentioned Costa Rica as a place to retire. My wife and I started out planning to retire there. We went there a couple of years ago and really liked it. However there are a lot of rules to living there. The price goes up if your a gringo. Teko time is a real thing look it up. Anybody that wants to visit has to have a passport. Banking is not the same as here. After weighing all the pros and cons it was not worth the hassle for us. Oh and you might want to learn some Spanish. Nice country but no thanks. Also lots of earthquakes. Any way Florida was our next choice and the area you live in is right up our alley. As far a income I have a defined pension for life with COLA every year plus 42 yrs of paying into social security. I will be 59 1\2 on my retirement day. draw SS @ 62 and starting a portable welding service for a few yes. Don't need much more of an income as my wife also works a full time job and she is 5yrs younger than me. I have Two Adult children and both are active duty U.S. Navy. So I say plan for your future and save as much as you can. I will payoff in the end . Already have a boat golf clubs and hunting gear. Payed off all my bills before retirement. Have money for a house and looking toward to seeing you and Rick in the near future.

Yes and funny.
+Rick George Ric really doesn't speak it BUT he understands word here & there just from listening to my mom...she would speak Einglish to him but about 30% of the words that came out were in Spanish so he learned those words over times lol Then we went to Spain in 1998 for 3 weeks and that is when he learned quite a bit more.....so I'm sure he could learn more. :)

Awesome, Costa Rica is nice place to visit. We like the northern part. Speaking Spanish is huge. 😀
+Rick George We have our passport & I speak Spanish. I think if we went to Costa Rica it will be for 3 months or less. Our house is paif for here so not so sure if we want to leave this house. We might rent it if we decide to go anywhere. I don't know where our kids will go so we'll see what we feel like doing in the fture. For right now, we are happy right here lol :) It is BEAUTIFUL. Thanks for sharing your experience with Costa Rica. It's good to hear from other people. :) It sounds like you will be set when you move. Yes, it would be great to meet up once you move :)

2 to 3 good dogs .House, solar panels for the house, start a Fish farm and aquaponic garden. I would also get a boat.
+John Doe Many people here have boats. You probably know by now Riic owns a mobile marine business. Especially down here....having a boat is great.and we actually have a family who has a fish farm. I think they grow talapia. There are many folks who also have aquaponic gardens here. They are building a whole community here in town with solar panels. They won't be on the house but on many acres. Not sure of the details. For me, to do all this, is not something I can do physically. All 4 of us take care of our 2 dogs. Dogs need a lot of attention and are costly as well. Solar panesl to put on a house are still out of this range for us. Sure it's an invenstment if you plan on staying in one home but you just never know these days how long one will stay in one place. I would get them if they were affordable though. With all this sun..every house should be built with them on it. Great ideas.
