*Been a few months and it is amazing!>>>**t.co/CzMav0VzfD**   At the time of the purchase I did not have a dog yet so I just wanted something reliable to clean the apartment quickly. To my delight, even with the new dog shedding all over the place, cleaning is still a breeze. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.*

I wonder if by now there is an LED bulb option that would work does anyone know?
desertdispatch (1 year ago)
MrNick98 ok. Just a thought
MrNick98 (1 year ago)
desertdispatch I'm sure there is ! But I'd be careful. Sometimes they won't work or start flickering cause it reauired less energy.

Thanks so much was cleaning vacuum died. Was about to take it to repair shop or buy new one. Friend suggested to check belt. Belt ripped. Found your video and ordering belt. Easy to follow your instructions. Thanks

GREAT video! Thanks for this!

Very helpful. Just fried my brushroll and couldn't find the part number in owner's manual, on Kenmore web site, supplier outlet, ANYWHERE. Since your videos have been helpful in the past with other confusing features on the Progressive, I had a hunch this one might solve the mystery. Voilá! You read the product number not once but twice. Thank you for providing a much-needed service.

Excellent instructions! Can you please make a video showing how to reassemble the front axle assembly and the red handle release pedal? My model is identical to yours, when you turn the powerhead upside down you can see the U shaped bar with the red handle release lever. Someone (who is not allowed to touch the vacuum anymore) thought they needed to remove those parts to get to the belt, now I cannot get them put back on!!!  Thank you.
MrNick98 (1 year ago)
Katy Wahlstrom not sure! I haven't seen much help on this. Which is why I made the video. I'd recommend taking it to a local sears or something like that.
Katy Wahlstrom (1 year ago)
Thanks for replying. Do you have any suggestions of where/how to look on the internet for help?
MrNick98 (1 year ago)
Katy Wahlstrom thanks for the comment! Sadly this video is many years old an I do not have this vacuum cleaner anymore! I apologize for the inconvenience.

By the way, I disassembled this part of my vacuum and it was incredibly filthy in there. The motor had tons of pet hair and sand/dust in it so I used the vacuum to suck it out and tapped the motor dozens of times to dislodge the sand. Also, the bearing on one side of the roller was seized so I cleaned it up and put oil in the bearing and it moved much better but I think it's going to need to be replaced soon anyway. Once again, thanks for the video and the part numbers...wish you'd do tutorials on everything, very well done!

Excellent video, very thorough, with part numbers and all! Thank you!

Thanks for the great video!

Thanks, very helpful. Taking the cover off was "challenging" as you put it, but seeing that you had a little trouble too helped me to keep trying till I got it. Thanks again.
D Whalen (1 year ago)
Thank you for this video! I got stuck at removing the cover! Your directions worked perfectly. I replaced the belt & reassembled & everything looks perfect... BUT... I cannot get the cover to reseat!!! Is there a trick? Again, thank you!
D Whalen (1 year ago)
Ok.. so... spent WAAAYYYY too much time trying to seat this correctly. Belt side would NOT completely close. Tested it & it worked so decided to put the screws back in & just leave it as is. Guess what... when I put the screws in, it pulled that side completely together!!!! Guess this is the "trick"!!!!

thank you much!
Thank you so much for this informative video!! I do not have time or money to take my vacuum to the repair shop, and your video has made me feel empowered to do my own fixing! For me, the one end of the brush is jammed into place. Going to order a new brush, and that belt while I'm at it. Thanks so much!! God bless you!

I have the same issue about the brush being stuck on one end. I guess it will have to be replaced.

Thank you for this helpful video. I originally came here because I could not remember how to get the cover off, but including the part numbers was also really helpful!

The road to fixing my vacuum cleaner split in two directions: take it to a store or watch an instructional video. Thanks for making my choice easy!

Your video has been so helpful. Thank you! Just reading the manual I could not understand how to remove the bottom plate to access the brush roller. With your very clear instructions and great camera placement I was able to accomplish this maintenance myself. Woo-hoo!
MrNick98 (3 years ago)
+cagneyscat You are so welcome! Just trying to save people money and the hassle of taking vacuums to the store when it can all be done at home!
MaryAnn Sepke (3 years ago)
Great instructional video! Thank you so much. Hoping you make more random household repair/maintenance videos!!!
MrNick98 (3 years ago)
+MaryAnn Sepke Yes! There are more to come. I will cover , Hoover powerdrive, Dyson ball multifloor, and dyson handheld vacuums. ANd probably much more down the road. Hope you enjoyed!

Excellent video.  Thank you.

Thank you so much for the very clear to understand, and visually easy to watch, video.  I misplaced my manual and so really needed help to get the power head apart.  Best demonstration I've seen on YouTube in a very long time.
CatTailz (3 years ago)
Thank you! Great video! After failing to get this vacuum apart and cleaned using the manual, this video was just awesome! Very much appreciated!
GlennMarshallRocks (3 years ago)
The Powerhead Model Number, Bulb Number, and Belt Number for your specific powerhead are listed on a label underneath the powerhead.   Turn the powerhead over and you should see a silver label between the arms of the height adjustment mechanism.   Check your label and be sure to order the right belt for your powerhead.
Julie Sall (3 years ago)
My power head cord needs replacing and I've purchased the cord but am not sure how to remove the old one for replacement.  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for posting this - you saved me hours of frustration!

Nick, I did all of this (that you showed on your video) but my brush roll still does not spin. Is there something else I need to look at?  I tried the brush reset button. I don't know what else to do. Thanks!
willydawgs (3 years ago)
+yellowtevo Same thing happened to me with my vac. I ended up taking to a local vac shop (not Sears!) and they replaced the undercarriage for about $45. Works like a charm. Sears would have charged me much more than that with a long turnaround time. Check around to see if you can't find a local vac shop that services this vac. They are popular vacs. I had mine back in less than 24 hours.
MrNick98 (3 years ago)
it may be your hose!! take your vacuum in to sears and have them take a look!
Ron Buning (3 years ago)
Thank you very much for making this video. Just had my brush roll freeze up with hair and make an bad burning smell. I was just wondering how to replace all of this stuff and found this video and most importantly... the part numbers. Awesome!!!

Really helpful video! Very clear and straight forward. It's the best DIY repair video for this vacuum model that I found on the internet in my search. Good job and thank you for posting!
Diane DeMers (4 years ago)
Thank you so much for this clear video! It helped me open up my PowerMate power head so that I could thoroughly clean it and find out why the brush roll would not spin on higher carpet heights.
R.S. Marston (4 years ago)
Thanks. I was able to get the cover off of the belt without breaking anything.I cleaned the rollers reset the belt and it is good as new.

Yes the part numbers are for the USA.
453E (5 years ago)
Great video ! Thanks. The part numbers - are they for the USA? Because I believe in Canada they might be different. I can't find the bulb at Home Depot or Canadian Tire. I think only Sears carries them. I will check there next.
