Lose up to 20 pounds in 60 days webinar replay (Weight loss for hypothyroid patients explained)

722 ratings | 31284 views
The most comprehensive webinar I've done on weight loss for thyroid patients. This webinar walks you through the main reasons that hypothyroid patients aren't able to lose weight and how your hormones may be impacting your current weight. You can find my 60-day step-by-step program which includes everything you need to target these hormones for lasting weight loss here: https://www.restartmed.com/hormone-mastery/ If you are interested in having Dr. Childs evaluate your labs you can find more information here: https://www.restartmed.com/lab-testing/ The thyroid is a master hormone in that it controls several other hormones in your body that all help to regulate your fat tissues. Low thyroid can predispose you to conditions such as inulin resistance, leptin resistance, and thyroid resistance. These three resistance syndromes make weight loss very difficult unless you target and treat each of them. This webinar explains new and advanced therapies that are available to help hypothyroid patients lose weight and keep it off and these are the same strategies that I've used on hundreds of patients in my clinic. You can read more about case studies using these therapies (including before and after pictures) here: - https://www.restartmed.com/weight-loss-naturethroid/ - https://www.restartmed.com/thyroid-weight-loss/ - https://www.restartmed.com/victoza-weight-loss/ The best way to approach weight loss is with a comprehensive program that focuses on diet, exercise routine, existing hormone imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, and nutrient deficiencies. There is no "silver bullet" for weight loss, but by addressing all of these factors you will give your body the best chance it has of getting back to "normal" and staying at that weight. If you have any questions on this complex topic please leave them below and I will do my best to answer them! This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. If you have questions about your health please consult your physician or primary care provider. Dr. Westin Childs goes to great lengths to produce high-quality content but this is NOT a substitute for medical care.

HI, thank you so much for all this information. I am hypothyroid and had surgery to remove thyroid goiter. so for years I have been on all kinds of thyroid medications that never seem to improve my thyroid levels. I even went from taking 1 pill a day to 2.5 of the medication. I never lost weight after surgery. Now I have diabetes, fatty liver, chronic fatigue, brain fog, memory loss sometimes, insomnia and thyroid levels stay out of whack. did workouts, B6, B12 etc. watching your videos has really helped me to understand thyroid stuff.

Amazing video!!
Baahston T. Paahty (14 days ago)
If not a pcp or Endocrinologist.....what specialist should I see? I had thyroid removed and in medical menopause. I feel awful!! Why not metformin for insuline resistance? This seems to be the most common treatment and I would like to have something for my notes when I speak to the doctor and avoid wasting time on metformin.

I am very impressed by your theology. I would like to be seen by you or a colleague. How might I go about that? I live in Iowa.
Teresa Salins (24 days ago)
Dear Lord! Doctor Childs, you are a God send!! I was diligent for 2.5 months cutting the carbs & sugar from my diet. My endocrinologist told me my a1c was at 7.1 😢 but he wanted to manage with diet & exercise. The last 3 weeks I just ate when I was hungry because I got the flu. I was literally in bed for the good part of 2 weeks. It took another 2 weeks to actually feel well. I got onto the scale at the doctors office the 2nd week off illness and I had gained 5 pounds. This video was sent just in time. I see my endo in 2 days. I wonder if he would listen to this😂😂😂😂😂again, thank you

I'm on 150mcg of Levothyroxine now. I was on 125mcg until my last blood work taken on 9/28/18 My last results were TSH 6.770(ref 0.450-4.500 ulU/ml) Thyroxine 8.1 (ref 4.5-12.0 ug/dl) T3 Uptake 24 (ref 24-39%) Free Thyroxine Index 1.9 (ref 1.2-4.9) I had low amylase of 20(ref 31-124) Glucose was normal of 85(ref 65-99) and all other tests on the CMP were normal. I'm gaining weight like crazy 20lbs in last 2 weeks. I am barely eating other than yogurt (hurts to eat food with lots of pressure , and can't breathe when I do) exam found a lump in LUQ region which doc is sending for a CT on. But my Doc said the lump would not be the cause of my issues with weight gain and my blood was normal. I'm so confused on what needs to be done now. I wish you was closer to GA and excepted new patients. If you know of any in GA that you could recommend or tell me what now.?

RE: Doctors have an irrational fear of supplementation? I don't understand this. We know that many illnesses can be treated with micro-nutrient therapies (though this may not support traditional allopathic systems). Thank you for your hard work! I had been arriving at these conclusions -- T4 proper, TSH, T3 proper cascade (supported by B12/D3/... & hormones.) *** 57 yr old female ...., questioning proper hormone aid.
Dr. Westin Childs (1 month ago)
Doctors aren't used to supplementing with vitamins/minerals as they are more comfortable with medications.

Paula Franklin (1 month ago)
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis 20 yrs ago, was on 112 mcg's for longest time then decreased to 100 mcg"s, I still have most of the physical sypmtoms, in fact the Dr said I'd feel good as new within one week of treatment, well I'm still waiting

I'm really loving these videos. Best thing I've found for my issues (hypothyroidism, menopause, auto-immune undiff., insulin resistance). So, I really want to find the 60 days step-by-step plan for 20 lbs. that you mention mostly in end minutes as well as the one on last slide about how done on 50 lb weight loss- Case study. I've looked through website and youtube and cannot find. Can you give me video number and/or link? Thanks!
tripleteen (1 month ago)
Thanks! I inadvertently found that when I got the three day free plan and saw that was a 60 day program at bottom. Because the Youtube calls it that, I was looking for that and searched for that. Also, I think although your slide in this video says a 50 lb. study, I see in basic time frame one that is actually a 40 lb. study. So, that is the one you meant to see next from your last slide in video #1. May want to make that clear by changing lbs. or telling them video number to go to next in video #1. Just trying to help because I LOVE this information and thought it would avoid confusion in others.

Hi this is great information, thank you. I am post menopausal so am wondering about the information and how it applies to me. I was diagnosed 40 years ago and have had little to no support during this time apart from basic Levothyroxine. Have you done any presentations for women in my age group?
Dr. Westin Childs (2 months ago)
Hi Margaret, the information here is still relevant regardless of your age. But as you age and go through menopause you have the added complexity of low estrogen/progesterone.

Is l tyrosine supplementation safe if you're not sure how healthy is your thyroid but you're having trouble losing weight?
Dr. Westin Childs (2 months ago)
I would check out this article for more info: https://www.restartmed.com/l-tyrosine/
Dr. Westin Childs (4 months ago)
I'm not really a fan of tyrosine supplementation by itself but it is probably safe to use.
Jane Norman (4 months ago)
This information is so awesome. I belong to a HMO and they have only given me tsh and basic tests. Diagnosis was hypo thyroid.Saw a functional Doc and got all the tests you talk about. Learned I have Hashimoto’s. I understand now I have been insulin resistance and have addressed diet and no longer have food cravings, sugar cravings, now losing weight without counting calories. Had little testosterone and estrogen and now all hormones being treated. Why isn’t your model being used for our healthcare? I know the answer, big pharma! I feel my Primary Doc has caused me to suffer and we as patients have to find forward thinking Dr’s like Dr. Childs.
Martine Reed (2 months ago)
Jane Norman which diet did you find to help with insulin resistance?
Dr. Westin Childs (2 months ago)
I think it has to do with that and also the fact that this type of approach is not really scalable to a large number of patients. I can only work with a few people at a time because of how much time it takes.

Hi Dorris, the best place to start is with advanced testing which includes looking at all of the hormones listed in this presentation.

Brilliant video....In the UK you have to beg for full thyroid testing and full testing of any kind due to budget restrictions. The problem is patients are not even told that testing is probably inadequate. I do not believe that doctors are not aware of most of this.....I think they are tied by budget restrictions, and because of this many are suffering with their health problems.
Dr. Westin Childs (2 months ago)
I can't really speak for what is happening in the UK but in the US it has more to do with how they are trained.

Thank you I have the same weight issue from thyroidectomy and allergic reaction and the doctor won't listen to me to change Levothyroxine medication. I have rash, dry skin, hair loss these are just a few and Doctor says my labs are ok. Yet I'm fatigue, pre diabetic, have swollen feet on and off and was told to elevate feet and given Metformin medication so thank you Doctor your advice is very helpful and I will listen to you.
Dr. Westin Childs (2 months ago)
The best thing you can do is to seek out a physician who is more willing to listen to your concerns and look into what is causing them! It will be very difficult to do everything on your own, but with more help you can really figure it out.
Sarah Thieben (1 year ago)
Can't thank you enough for this video. For the last ten years I have been struggling from one doctor to the next, and while I have found some progressive ones that are open to the type of testing you talk about, none of them have understood how to put all the systems together. This gave me a clear picture to put all the puzzle pieces together so I can navigate my own doctors. Thank you again, sure wish you're practice wasn't already full!

i was pre-diabetic with 122,5kg and i went to a keto diet five month ago and i lost 10kg now (=2kg per month avg.) without being hungry. blood sugar levels are also down - normally under 100. i feel much better now. i don't get tired throughout the day anymore and i don't need to sleep that much anymore. i also take vit.d3+k2, sometimes a b-complex, sometimes alpha lipoic acid. when i feel very energetic at the evening i go jogging for 2km (now 4 running stints with 3 walking breaks in between when heart rate is too high) and the next day i feel so great. but that does only works when the body feels ready for the exercise. when you force yourself to exercise then you do not have any benefit at all (cortisol level goes up and you feel like crap). now i also take a little bit of iodine, selenium and l-tyrosin to give my thyroid every building material it needs to do it's work. let's see how that works out. i try to stay on keto diet as long as i can cause it is the right diet for me. at the end of the year maybe i am near 100kg. what i want to reach is 105kg which seems a very realistic goal within my 2kg weight loss that i could achieve per month. everything lower than 105kg is a nice bonus :-) also a word to intermittent fasting: it works on keto very good cause on keto you don't have that much hunger. and from my perspective of view, every diet with hunger in it will fail and i don't think it is healthy.

Denise Robinson (1 year ago)
Hi Dr. Childs, my name is Denise Robinson. I have been reading everything you write about on your website and listening to your videos. I have Hashimoto’s and have gained 25 pounds in the last 3 months. I asked my doctor to do all the blood work you said do. She didn't do all of them of course but it does have my T3 as being under the range level. I have every single symptom you have mentioned. Even the exhausted after 10 hrs of sleep, crash in the afternoon, I come to life about 6 pm and I have to take ADHD medicine, which I don't think I have but I started this medication when I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. My entire body is wrecked with pain all the time, I was just diagnosed with Grovers Disease that will not go away on my elbow no matter what medication they have me put on it. Has cleared up on my back and stomach, Praise God. I can't find a single Doctor in Chattanooga, TN that will help me. I'm at my wits end. Thank you for everything I've learned from you even though it does me no good. I wish you could be my doctor and make my life worth living again.

This is amazing! I have not been diagnosed yet, I had a Dr. Eho was awesome amd ordered me a complete check but unfortunately I switched careers and my health insurance switched with it before I could get the tests. Now I can't find a single Dr. to even test me! They tell me it is too hard to see hormone imbalances and the ranges are to wide and they wont even order the tests even though I have just about every symptom, I don't understand why it seems to be such a hassle for them to test me. I have another appointment tomorrow with yet another dr. Keeping my fingers crossed, but like you mentioned I am sure they will just throw some pills at me and call it good. I wish I had a Dr. Like you who took time and effort into trying to help.

Why dont you doctors stop talking all this bs and give real cures not synthetic crap that does not cure. Tell the people to get water filters that remove heavy metals, chlorine and flouride all of which ruin the thyroid and tell them to take iodine with selenium to correct the problem and tell them to get on a ketogenic diet to reverse all the metabolic diseases caused by eating a high carb high sugar diet, tell the people to grow their own vegetables and stop buying the gmo garbage that has no nutrition in them and to buy only grass fed meats. Doctors are not taught to cure any dam thing they are taught to make as much money as possible until the person dies from takeing all these fake meds that cure absolutely nothing. Doctors are good for nothing unless its trauma such as breaking my arm and even then i would be leary they might try to vacinate me with some mercury aluminum bs. If you really care about people REALLY do your research and actually bring something that will REALLY help people to cure their diseases. Doctors need to wake up and realize they will answer to God for this one day. They should be ashamed and all for the love of money nothing more !

Pat Ramirez bro, did u watch the video? Most doctors are absolute evil scammers but this guy is legit, he explains everything 100%, he goes into hormone disruptors and vitamin deficiencies too, he's only giving an extra help in the form of some medications to k8ckstart the recovery, doesn't mean you have to take it, for me I'm just gonna follow the dietary advice and hope for the best but this guy really deserves credit, this info he hasgiven in the video is worth gold.

I am currently in progress of watching this video, and let me tell you that i am very much intrigued . I mean i cannot even imagine there is so much to weight loss that just taking appropriate thyroid medication.I just came across this part at 34:02 where you are displaying a test report of one of your patients. Why is the reference range mentioned between 3-25, whereas a while back you said it should be less than 5. P.S.- I also am a patient of hypothyroidism struggling with weight loss and i have to take a daily dosage of 150 mcg of thyroxine sodium tablets. I guess that's a pretty huge dosage. I don't know much.(sorry for my bad english)

If you think you might have thyroid problems then go to another Dr better still an Endocronologist and ask for the tests you want. Fatigue can be caused by many things and not just being hypo, so dont just assume you need to take thyroxine to help you. I can tell you now, being on thyroxine mecicaion is a pain in the backside, i have been on it now for well over 20 years and so over having to pop a pill everyday for the rest of my life. It is not a case of just stopping it, I have no option. Please seek Dr or specialist advice ASAP.
