Did all the steps you did but as soon a i put it back my gauges wont move as in the needles have no movement got another circuit board and those metal clips and still wont work. Fuses are still good

Make sure the plug is plugged in the correct way. I think it can go either way.

Great vid. I am another viewer who did not know about the fiber optic cable. Question. How do you hook up the odometer cable with the gauges installed. ?
farmboy30117 (1 month ago)
If the cable is not long enough to pull out with the gauge cluster, there is a small opening under the cluster that you can stick your hand in and release the clip to remove the cable. To install, just push the cable on until the clip catches it.

Any idea what those 3 metal tabs are that hold the gauges in? What you would call them. I can’t find them anywhere.
farmboy30117 (2 months ago)
They're called retaining clips. LMC Truck part # 38-8042

Buying a 4wd 79 gmc but gages dont work
John Mickeymouse (4 months ago)
Ok thankyou
farmboy30117 (4 months ago)
More than likely it is a bad ground either going to the gauges or on the circuit board itself if all gauges don't work

to find this stuff is unbelieveable. Dealerships literally sit on this stuff, will NOT sell it, and when they choose to, going to the MOON would be cheaper. thank G for U-pull-its, Hm of the last going BROKE frontiersman. ( gonna slid up next to that GOV. whens they gets that BIG Pork-barrel HandOUT again here in a few days, and THEY get free Hlthcare, flights, limo's, AIDS to handle their paperwork, protection, and BOTH of our right-offs. Merry Xmas.

Yeah, I'm glad the aftermarket is still supporting these trucks. LMC does a good job stocking parts, but body panels are getting harder to get. I tried ordering a hood and it was back ordered. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the video. After asking dozens of times on various forums, you answered the question of the "fiber optic" going to the ashtray. That alone was worth watching this video.

You're welcome!  For years I didn't know what that was for either ;)

Nice presentation. Now I'm ready to do mine. Did yours turn out good? Thanks
farmboy30117 (1 year ago)
So far it seems to work fine.  I haven't gotten far enough along with the project to test everything but the fuel, volts, and oil pressure gauges work.

If you paint the inside of the cluster housing with chrome paint and put in LED bulbs it makes a huge improvement! I did this and have pics if you want.

I have a 83 c10. On the instrument cluster there is a small yellow box coming off two wires below the tac cable. Has any one ever seen this? It says a/c deco on it and in the box is circuit board.
Gmtech2009 (2 years ago)
+farmboy30117 ah!!! Yes. All the other trucks didn't have cruise control. Thanks!!
farmboy30117 (2 years ago)
+Clark Cowan It creates a signal for the cruise control from the speedometer.

My 2004 Duramax has a couple of gauges that don't work but the stepper motors are soldered in.  Does anyone know how to get an aftermarket unit that will eliminate the need for the steppers?
