How To Build a Simple Cheap Work Bench

04:14
Build a simple workbench for around $60 in less than an hour! This is a great addition to your garage or workshop and can me made with simple tools. Makes working on car parts and DIY projects much easier! The lengths you'll need are: 1 X Bench top (1200mm X 600mm) 2 X 1200mm (Bench frame) 2 X 540mm (Bench Frame Ends) 4 X 980mm (Legs) Choose your own lengths based on desired height 2 X 600mm (Leg Supports) There are loads of really great workbench designs out there but this is a nice simple design for doing DIY projects. You can adjust any of the sizes and lengths to create a custom bench for your own workspace. You can also simply replace the bench top when it gets worn out and if you're budget allows you can use a nice piece of hardwood. Keep in mind that wood may not be perfectly straight so choose carefully at the shop. Glue also helps to make the whole thing stronger. I'm using this bench as part of a larger bench and mounting it to a wall and supports but if you're using screws only on the legs install them diagonally. We were sent an email from a young MCM fan asking how to make a cheap, simple workbench. We're not carpenters by any stretch of the imagination but we hope this helps you get started on your own workbench! Song is 'Jimmy Rabbit feat. Mammals' by Moog Direct Download: http://www.mightycarmods.com/collections/music iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/jimmy-rabbit-feat.-mammals/id553018843 Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics (or carpenters!) We like to make interesting car mods and projects and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular project, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic or carpenter if you are in any doubt. This video has no affiliation with Ryobi. They are just the tools I own.

Build a Simple 2x4 Workbench

06:56
Go to http://lynda.com/april to get a free 10 day trial! A big thanks to Nick Ferry for doing the special effect at the end. ; ) For a written tutorial check out my blog at http://wilkerdos.com/2015/12/building-a-2x4-workbench/ My dad really needed a workbench for his garage and asked if it was something I wanted to build. : ) Of course I said yes. So here I show you how to build a very simple but sturdy eight foot workbench out of only 2x4s and plywood. I added pegboard only at the top because my dad wanted to have a space where he could reach the workbench surface from either side. However, you could very easily add a full sheet of pegboard instead and have it go all the way down to the workbench surface. Don't forget I have a set of plans, where I walk you through step by step, on my website if you want to build one! DIY 2x4 Workbench for Under $100 | Modern Builds | Woodworking

16:10
Today on Modern builds, I'm making a woodworking workbench completely out of 2x4's! Materials (wood) for this project came in at just under $100, and the beauty of this project is that it doesn't take a shop full of tools. A circular saw, planer, and a table saw (optionally) is all you need! If you plan on building this project yourself, there will be plans on my website, linked below. Roubo-style Workbench Introduction

09:51
This workbench is based on a design by the 18th century French carpenter and author André Jacob Roubo. Guido Henn, the German master cabinetmaker, built it for Fine-Tools.com. Henn has 20 + years of experience as a woodworker, teacher, and has written for a number of woodworking publications. A modern adaptation with high-quality accessories first became possible because of the hardware developed and produced by the American manufacturer Benchcrafted. As Henn built the prototype bench, we also drew up a detailed set of plans and made explanatory videos so that any reasonably experienced woodworker could build their own Roubo-style workbench. All plans and instructions are free and can be downloaded here: http://www.fine-tools.com/roubo-hobelbank.html

100% Pallet Wood Woodworking Workbenches

05:24
Get the plans for the workbench & vise that I added later! http://bit.ly/JackmanWorkbenchPlans ➤ Please share and subscribe? http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ These workbenches were made 100% from pallet wood. The tops are 36" x 40" x 2" thick, all laminated from pallet slats. The main frame is fabricated from 3.5" x 2.5" pallet timbers and 1.5" thick pallet slats, all from a super heavy duty pallet. The casters are locking 4" casters. Everything is fastened from the underside, or the inside of the frame, leaving zero visible fasteners. The top includes poplar, pine, white oak, red oak, maple, and cherry! I haven't yet decided on a finish for the workbench, but right now I think I'm going to put a really thin coat of epoxy to seal and protect the top. Many more modifications will be made to this in the future, including a bench vice, storage underneath, and I'm sure many other things. I have a feeling these are just going to be a canvas. Fart. Simple Modular Work Tables (WITH MAGNETS!) // Woodworking How To

Everything is still shoved against the walls, mostly still in boxes and completely unorganized. As a first step towards making the space usable, I decided to build a work table. I debated about making one large 4x8 table that could act as an out feed table for my table saw. I was worried that such a large item would start to eat up my large open space as I really want to try to keep this shop as open and flexible as possible. On my Twitch livestream recently, I opened up the discussion for input about how to make a table more useful and modular. We had an AWESOME collaborative design session and eventually the project turned into tables, not just table. The idea we ended up with was multiple tables that could snap together (using magnets) to create a large 4x8 table when necessary, or split apart to be useful in different places or configurations.  They turned out to be really simple, really sturdy and super cool :) MORE PROJECTS, POSTS AND EVENTS http://www.iliketomakestuff.com Want to support ILTMS? How to Build a Portable Woodworking Workbench - Part 1 of 3

14:15
Free plans. I decided to build a portable workbench so that I can work on projects, in any room of the house, and to take the workbench on the road to places like farmer's markets to do live woodworking demos. The mobile workbench is constructed from walnut, cherry, pine, and red oak. The top is 30" x12"; the foot print is ~25x19"; the height of the workbench is ~34". The bench weighs in at ~55 lbs (~25 kg). The free plans for this workbench is scheduled to be released at the same time as part 3 of 3 of the workbench is released. Part 2/3 has been released. Part 3/3 of the workbench is scheduled for 4/7/2017. DIY Folding Workbench - With Easy to Follow Plans to build a sturdy space saving workbench

09:40
This folding workbench is a great addition to any garage or craft area with limited space.  In it's folded position it only takes up 6" of floor space.  When set up it's a rock solid 32" deep workbench ready for your next DIY project.  The best part is you can build it on a Saturday for less than $100.00 Purchase the Plans On Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/566816326/diy-folding-workbench-plans-easy-to?utm_medium=SellerListingTools&utm_campaign=Share&utm_source=Raw&share_time=1513571400000&utm_term=so.slt Full Article: https://wp.me/p5Fv5T-JT I was hired by a nice couple in College Station to help organize there garage. They asked if I could install shelving and also build a folding workbench like they’ve seen on Pinterest. I’m a carpenter who loves building unique woodworking projects so I get really excited whenever I get a call that starts with “Hey, I found this thing on Pinterest, can you built it?”. SketchUp is such a valuable tool for woodworkers, carpenters, and remodelers.  Being able to build and modify custom cabinetry or woodworking projects digitally gives your customers a much better finished product and allows you as the contractor to more accurately price a job. I finished the workbench top with two coats of Minwax Polyurethane for Floors.  This product is very durable and makes a great top coat for high use areas like wood counter tops, work benches, tables, and...um...floors.

Solid Workbench - Cheap and Easy to Build

10:29
Plans can be found here http://paskmakes.com/plans/ A woodworking workbench is something I’ve needed for a long time. I’ve managed without one and I could continue that way but I’ve become tired of creative clamping to do the most simple clamping tasks. Also I need a bench that is solid, the bench I’m using now is on castors so I have to kick a wedge under them if I need the bench to remain still. The reason it has taken until now to build the workbench is I’ve always wanted to build my dream workbench which done properly would take a significant amount of time, which I never seem to find. That’s why I’ve decided to build this one out of plywood, it’s cheap and with the layered method of construction for the base it is very strong and was quick to assemble. There would be far more robust workbenches out there but this one shouldn’t be discounted, if you need a solid workbench that is cheap and easy to build this would be more than adequate for most peoples needs. Saying that, I will build my dream workbench, one day when the time is right. I am also thinking by building this bench I can figure out, over time what I like about it and what I may have done differently for when I do build my dream bench. There is more to come as I'm going to add a cabinet underneath with drawers and also a couple of vices. I haven't decided on the style of vices yet but I am planning on making them. I hope you enjoy the video and as always I'm happy to answer any questions. Perfectly flush top table saw outfeed table - ALL-IN-ONE workbench - PART 2

14:43
Stage 2 of my All-In-One woodworking workstation involved getting my Makita table saw installed and ready to be used. The saw needed to be installed in a way that would allow me to use the length of the bench as an outfeed table. I also needed to extend the fence to allow me to cut wider panels. It also needed to be lined up perfectly with the top of the workbench. In that, the installation absolutely succeeded. But, I know that not everybody has the thousands of dollars it takes to buy a quality bench from a woodworking store. I also know most woodworkers want to build their own anyway. Many friends of mine are woodworkers and most of them are saving up the $2000.00+ that it takes to buy the 8/4 maple to build their own. Whether Roubo style or another. So I thought that I would present an alternative. This isn’t a new idea. Many YouTube woodworkers have done this before me. But, I thought that I would like to add my take on it. I went to my local home improvement “Big Box” store. I selected construction grade lumber. At my store they had a choice of a product they called whitewood, or Douglas Fir. The latter was kiln dried, and a much higher density and harder lumber so I chose that. Where you live will dictate what you buy. Many parts of the country will have southern yellow pine, which is a great choice for this. I took quite some time to sort through the bunk of lumber to ensure that I got straight pieces and pieces with as few knots as possible. I chose all 2x6’s, and I ended up with a workbench that was nearly 500 pounds. Very strong, very solid! Please follow along in the video to see what was built!

Mega Workbench - How to Make a Woodworking Bench

13:45
MORE PROJECT AND TIPS: http://makebuildmodify.com/ In this video: How I made a MEGA workbench out of reclaimed wood. I remodeled an old barn last summer. While demolishing the interior I had a chance to recover some of the old lumber. I stored it for a few months until I had time to build this woodworking bench. It weighs over 850 pounds and required 600 screws, 1 ½ gallons of wood glue, 44 9’x2”x6” Douglas fir, and about 40 hours to build I hope I cover enough detail in this video to be helpful. Double Flip Top Workbench (Part 1 of 3)

I decided to replace my old workbench with a fancy new one. The new design has dual flipping stations built in for stationary tools like my planer. This way, I have a big flat workbench most of the time, and access to some heavier tools within seconds when I need them. Workbench mobile base

06:44
This is my version of the mobile base. There are lots of commercial ones available but whats the fun in that. Cant really make plans for this project because dimensions would be different depending on what your using the base for. This set up has a large mechanical advantage, great for heavy workbenches. Just guessing with all the tools in the bench it probably weighs at least 400lbs and I can easily engage the mobile base with one hand. https://instagram.com/shop_built/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shop-built/713921978645450?ref=aymt_homepage_panel https://twitter.com/nods221 www.shopbuilt.org Disclaimer This video is not a "how to" they are just for entertainment purposes. Please use all safety precautions when operating power tools or hand tools. I choose not to wear safety glasses and hearing protection but I highly recommend that you do. I also may remove guards but this is also very dangers and I highly recommend that you do not This could lead to series injury.

Fantastic Folding Workbench

02:31
I've been looking for a really good folding workbench design that I could use to teach woodworking. This is it! It is sturdy, easy to carry, easy to build and I can set it up in only two seconds. It is built from two 8' 2x4's, one 6' 1x10, one 36"x1" oak dowel and a few sheetrock screws. This bench makes a terrific gift or just enjoy it yourself. This brief video only demonstrates how the workbench works. For complete videos on how to make it, search for "LJ Magnum" and "Folding Wooden Work Table." Building a Solid Woodworking Workbench from cheap lumber

19:39
In this video I'm building a solid workbench for woodworking. I made it of construction grade timber, things I got for free and some plywood. I'm using mortise and tenon joinery and drawboring. There are some small things left that I need to complete and I will make an update video when those things are in place. This is a really heavy workbench especially when all the drawers and cabinets are filled with tools and stuff. I basically used a table saw, japanese hand saw and a regular No. 4 handplane. It took a lot of elbow grease but it was a good practice using hand saws. The workbench top is made of an old solid hardwood coffe table I was lucky to get for free. It's not dead flat but pretty close I would say. I installed a small Veritas inset vise at the one end of the table and I am planning to add a vise at the left side as well but for now I just use my portable vise. If you want to build this workbench yourself I have plans available on my site (see the top of this description) You should be able to build it with just hand tools but a table saw will ease up things dramatically. If you like this video please give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. Buying the plans will also help to support my channel so I can make more videos. BUILDING A STRONG WORKBENCH PT 1 OF 4

07:43
When we moved to our home in 1978 I made this same workbench. It has held up well. This workbench is a general all purpose workbench. It is built sturdy to last years and will not move when you use it. You can secure a heavy duty vice and the table will stay put when you use the vice. With the pegboard back to be added later you can have all of your tools handy to work on any project. From building bird houses and feeders, repairing a chain saw, putting new handles on tools or overhauling a lawn mower engine.

Workbench Storage Cabinet

09:07
This is the latest instalment of my workbench build, probably the least exciting part of the build but it needed to be done. If I'd left the underneath of the workbench open I think it would have become a dumping zone and would be in a mess in no time. The workbench storage cabinet will certainly be useful and at the same time has added a fair amount of extra weight - I'm really quite surprised at how much heavier the bench is now and I haven't put anything in the drawers yet. I'm excited for the next component of the build, a leg vice but that may have to wait for a couple of weeks until I get hold of a scaffold screw jack. I also have a couple of different ideas I need to think through for the leg vice too. I hope you enjoy the video and as always I'm happy to answer any questions. I use my box joint jig in this video to make the drawers - it was made from John Heisz's plans. Miter Saw Station // Woodworking How To

See how I made a simple miter saw station! Sponsored Promo Code: “make” for $50 off a premium mattress: http://www.casper.com/make Subscribe to my channel: http://bit.ly/1k8msFr Second Channel: http://bit.ly/iltms-2 MORE PROJECTS, POSTS AND EVENTS http://www.iliketomakestuff.com In my old shop, I never really had room for a proper miter station. I dealt with it but also ways to move things out of the way to cut an 8' piece of material and come up with creative (and some times dangerous) stop block situations. In the new shop, I have plenty of space, so it was time to make a dedicated place to use the miter saw. I didn't want to go overboard with storage or complexity and wanted it to still be relatively compact. I also had 2 days to build it in between projects, so it had to be simple. The only real requirements for me were that it had to be cheap, easy, fast and it needed a sliding stop block system. I think I hit all of those points while still getting a solid work surface that has PLENTY of space for future improvement in the form of storage. You could reduce $35 right off the cost by only using one sheet of plywood and changing dimensions of the top to 24” or less in width. Wood Costs 2 – 4x4s $10/piece 7 – 2x4s $2.50/piece 2- Plywood sheets $35/piece Other Supplies 4 – 4” Caster wheels $8/piece 1 lb. – 2 ½” Screws $9/pound 1 lb. – 1 ¼” Screws $9/pound Stain – $8/quart Polyurethane – $12/quart Washers – For Caster Wheels $1 This is the cost for the wood, wood finish, and other basic supplies. *Note: This doesn’t include smaller things you may already have around the shop, including: glue, sandpaper, etc. ---- Cut All of the Wood Pieces We’ll start this project by marking and making cuts for all of the different pieces for this simple workbench. We used a simple circular saw for this, you can use a miter saw or table saw as well. Once all of your cuts are made, we’ll give all of the boards a quick sanding and then start assembling it. Refer to the free, downloadable plans for the cut list. Start Assembly, Making the Top First Now we’ll start assembling our simple workbench. After you’ve cut all of the pieces according to the cut list in the plans, then grab the legs, the top lengthwise supports, and the top stretcher supports. Center one of the top stretcher supports and then space the others about 18” apart. Let’s put this all together with 2 ½” wood screws. Pre drill any holes before adding the wood screws and assemble it all together. With very similar assembly construction as the top portion, let’s attach the bottom support. Note that the back side lengthwise board of the bottom (bottom lengthwise board that will face the user) is attached inside the legs. This allows for more room for the user of the workbench. Cut the Plywood and Attach Now, we simply need to cut the plywood top and bottom pieces to size. Refer to the cut list for the dimensions and make your cuts. We’ll attach these with 1 1/4″ wood screws, always pre-drilling the holes. You can be generous with the amount of screws that you put into these boards. Stain and Finish the Workbench My friend George was a big fan of Minwax’s Gunstock Stain, so that is the color that we went with for his workbench. Always test the stain on a scrap piece of wood before applying to the whole project. Be sure to thoroughly cover all of the wood’s surface, working your way around, underneath, and in all of the nooks and crannies of your workbench. Let this stain dry and cure and then add a clear coat of polyurethane or lacquer to the workbench. ---- Looking for more DIY videos? Be sure to check out our channel and subscribe for updates! How to Chose Your Workbench Height

02:50
http://www.ezwoodshop.com/workbench-plans.html How to determine the best work bench height when designing a workbench for the garage or woodshop. The ideal height should be based on both your body height and the type of work you plan to do at the bench. Why you should you care about workbench height? First consider that any kind of manual work puts stress on the body. Nothing wrong with that, really, if it includes a healthy mix of moving, stretching, pulling, and pushing. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen while standing in front of a workbench, where we can easily spend hours going through the same motions over and over. Of course, the most common hazard from this kind of repetition is lower back pain, which usually comes from working on a bench that is too low. So what's the solution? The best way to avoid back problems working at your bench is to design your bench to fit your body height and the type of work you plan to do there. First, let's talk about body height. The basic rule of thumb here is that for most general types of work..like joinery and construction...try to set the top of your bench to be even with the bottom edge of your shirt cuff. This will give you nice, workable surface for most of the jobs you'll bring to a bench. What about other types of work like sanding and cutting? In these cases, I like my bench top to be somewhat lower. This lets me use the weight of my arms and shoulders to help push the tools. I've found that dropping the height just 6" below my cuff makes a big difference with these types of jobs. On the other hand, if I'm using a bench primarily for assembly and making repairs, I want my bench top be a little higher. In this case, 6" above my shirt cuff seems to be the magic number. This will keep me from having to bend over my work, and just make it easier to see what I'm doing. So to recap, the ideal workbench height depends on both your body height and the type of work you plan to do at your bench. For most general work, that means making the top even with the bottom of your shirt cuff. For sanding and carving, about 6" below your shirt cuff. For assembly and repairs, about 6" above your shirt cuff. Now if you're looking for workbench plans, I have a nice ebook at my website http://www.ezwoodshop.com that will take you through all the steps we've talked about here, plus show you a very easy way to build a bench for the garage or basement using simple 2x4s and plywood. This is one of the strongest and most durable bench designs I've seen, and the best part is that it doesn't require a lot of building skills or expensive tools to bring it together.
