Homemade Truck Bed Drawers
Recently we bought a new truck and I decided straight away I would build some drawers for the back. They came out great and will be perfect for keeping things organised, especially when camping. The drawer slides work very well and much cheaper than buying them, $230 a pair was the cheapest I could find for the size I needed. Hopefully I've shown enough here to help you build your own but if you need more info on this style of runner then you should find plenty with a search. We are about to set off on a family road trip and I finished these just in time! The bad news is we're going for two and a half weeks so there won't be a new video for a while. I'll get straight back to it as soon as we get home! ;) As always I'm happy to answer any questions. DIY Drawer System for Jeep Wrangler, Camping, Overlanding
I wanted to build a rear cargo drawer system for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler 4door. I did quite a bit of research and found some really good info out there but not a ton out there specific to the Wrangler. I’m not an expert builder by any means. I enjoy it and can get by, but I’m no master carpenter. I took ideas I found from other online - videos and forum posts - and decided to jump in to the build. I figured I would document the process, not so much as a “how-to” video, but more as a “what-I-did” video. For any expert builders, this would be pretty simply. But for those out there, like me, hopefully this will give you an idea of what can be done and will give you ideas for your build. My dimensions and plans (some changed, FYI): https://jumpshare.com/v/V5nYTyQLNXnwi6XFhYPz For complete video on build of the slide-out table: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEFRc3WZdCk Below is the list of items I purchased online: - Rubber Flexible T-Latch: http://aofil.ms/amzrubberlatch - Rubber Flooring (for bottom of drawers): http://aofil.ms/amzdiamondrubber - Diamond Plated Rubber Mat (for top of box): http://aofil.ms/amzubbfloor - Drawer Slides - 24": http://aofil.ms/amzdrawerslides Here’s references for resources I relied on. Building a Plywood Battery Box for Solar and Wind Power | The Cedar Workshop
The video shows how to make a large battery box that will hold (10) 6-volt deep cycle batteries. The batteries are used to store DC electricity in a solar or wind turbine system. The plywood box measures 48" long x 24" wide x 15" tall. It was made from one sheet of 3/4" shop grade Oak plywood. The plywood was damaged by a forklift at the building supply store and I asked for a discount. In the end, the employee sold it to me for $10.00! (regular price is $66.00 each) In the past, I have built a smaller box for (4) batteries and it has worked out well. The thick plywood gives your screws some bite on the wood and it's sturdy enough for the heavy batteries. Part 2 of this series will be coming out in a few days. For more pictures and description, go to the website at www.cedarworkshop.net. Look forward to your comments. Enjoy!

DIY Jeep Drawer System for Overland, Camping, and Off Roading
I've spent many hours researching drawer systems but there wasn't anything in the market that fit my exact needs. I decided to just build one instead. This was my first time using a table saw! Luckily the drawers ended up looking decent and I still have all 10 fingers in tact. See pictures of the build on Instagram @OverlandLife https://www.instagram.com/overlandlife/ Thanks for watching and please subscribe. HOW TO BUY: This system is not for sale and I don't plan to build more to sell. However...if you want a superior design and much better build quality, my buddy Al Smith has a very similar drawer system available for purchase. In fact, his system was what inspired my build. Home Made Camper Truck bed Box 1999 Tacoma
Like and subscribe ***WARNING CRACK EXPOSURE AT 17:00 and maybe other times. SORRY. I just realized as i was watching it. LMAO. After doing a truck bed box for my f350. I just had to make one for my Tacoma. It works so well, I just had to. In this video you get to see the start to finish that's why its on the long side. Remember each application will have its own challenges. This design was based on my current bed liner features. This is just to give you an idea of how to come up with yours. If you look at the thumbnail. it shows the completed box with the locking mechanism so the drawers don't open. I kept it simple and just put a bar across the front. like the old style bar locks on doors. Simple and effective. Also, Finder holes were drilled on all the lids for easy removal. you can always make some wood drawers, but like I said before, i was using the items on hand and trying to repurpose things and give them a new life. This is going to work well. I plan on keeping a few camping items but this will mostly serve me for carrying tools and things. and if I have to, I can always blow up a mattress and take a snooze. Won't be as comfi as my F350 but good enough. If you have any ideas or suggestions please leave a comment down below. Thank you Material list: One 4X8 sheet of 1/2 plywood (had on hand from other project) Furring strips ( a couple a had left over) Wood glue 6 plastic crates (not the milk ones, but those would work too, but your box would be very tall though and take up a lot of space) 1 1X10 pine plank that I was using as a separator on the bed liner. That's it and some fasteners. Don't forget to like and subscribe. Thank you for watching.

$150 bike camper: DIY micro mobile home (downloadable plans)
Paul Elkins fell for micro-camping in 2002 when he toured the country in his cabover “stealth camper”. Sure he could make something more affordable, this year he began building a nomadic micro-shelter based on the Airstream design. [Downloadable plans: http://www.elkinsdiy.com/plans/ ] Using 4 recycled fluted-plastic campaign signs from a recent election, a $20 secondhand bike, 6 pine boards ($1 at Home Depot), screws, Duct tape and zip ties, he built his latest micro mobile shelter for only $150. Calling it a “micro Airstream bike camper”, it’s a 60-pound “home away from home”, complete with butane stove, bread-pan sink, counter, food storage shelving, clothes-storage bins, LED lighting, bed, windows, pee jug, bubble insulation, stereo with MP3 player, and a skylight made out of a 1 gallon plastic tub. Log Cabin Life: First Night in the Off Grid Pallet Wood Cabin
I spend my first night alone in the Off Grid Log Cabin which we built from recycled Pallet Wood. Being alone in the woods in the tiny house was really something special. I felt completely disconnected from society and much closer to nature and the forest. With the woodstove burning and candle lanterns lighting the cabin, it felt rustic and cosy. Living off the land is something I am striving to learn more about. Now that I have this tiny cabin as a base to learn Bushcraft, Foraging and Cooking skills. As well as develop my survival skills. Temperatures were cold outside but the cabin was like a sauna. I had the best nights sleep I have ever had whilst camping. Bushcraft: Building a Camp Shelter in Winter
Bushcraft: Making a Bushcraft Camp - Building a Shelter, Alone in Winter (Part Four) With temperatures remaining below freezing and heavy snowfall covering the area, Canoe Builder and Outdoorsman, Jason Eke heads out to continue building the Bushcraft Camp. Bushcraft: Building a Bushcraft Camp More and more snow has been falling, and with the wind blowing it around its a losing battle keeping it out of the shelter. It’s Christmas day and despite the heavy snow hitting the area I decide to focus on building the front of the camp shelter. The idea is to create a wilderness camp that would include a shelter, fire pit, cooking facilities, storage/firewood area, and a bushcrafting area. This is the fifth in a series of bushcraft and wilderness survival skills or camping skills videos. In the previous episodes I've scouted out a location and began to set up a semi-permanent shelter. In the next video I continue to build the Bushcraft Camp as temperatures continue to drop and winter freezes the Canadian Wilderness, fire becomes an important part of the Camp. Our Crazy Experience Building & Sleeping in an Igloo! - Winter Camping Snow Fort
Mat had the idea to build an igloo (a.k.a. iglu or igluvijaq in the Inuit language) after two weeks of watching snow pile up in my parents backyard in northern Ontario while we were visiting for the holidays. It sounded like a fun project and since we love small spaces, we decided to build a tiny snow fort and sleep in it. We watched a bunch of YouTube videos to learn how to build an igloo, and when the weather finally warmed up (transforming the fluffy snow into compacting snow) we got started. It took us three days to build. On the first day we got organized and made sure we had everything we needed to build the snow shelter: snow pants, gloves, a saw and knife, a ladder, bins to make the snow blocks, rope, sleeping bags, lanterns, etc., and we made 50 snow blocks in about 2 hours using a couple of plastic storage bins to compact and shape snow into building blocks. On the second day we measured and marked out the circle for the igloo using rope and then we started building the igloo in one continuous spiral wall. Apparently this is the traditional way of making an igloo. The spiral is supposed to make the structure stronger and make it easier to build because each new block is resting on the one below it and the one behind it. As the angle of the wall becomes more and more steep, these two anchor points help hold new blocks in place. Once the wall of the igloo became too high to step over, Mat stayed inside to build the igloo and fill cracks with snow, and I stayed on the outside to make more blocks (we needed way more than 50 blocks), fill cracks on the outside, turn the cameras on and off, and run around getting water, dry gloves, etc. By the time it got dark, the igloo was complete and it was time for Mat to cut a small hole in the side of the igloo to get out. The weather was warm (+4 degrees Celsius) so the snow was melting and getting a bit slushy and we didn’t think it was safe to sleep in it right away. We decided to wait 24 hours so that the structure could solidify. On the third day, we built a small entrance to block the wind and to reinforce the doorway. We also set up the inside to get it ready to sleep in. We put a tarp on the snow floor to protect our sleeping bags from getting wet and then we layered 4 sleeping mats and 4 sleeping bags to make a warm and cozy nest for ourselves. We also had a couple of lanterns and a thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature. The night we slept in the igloo, the temperature was approximately -10 degrees Celsius outside (14 degrees Fahrenheit) but it was about 7 degrees warmer inside the igloo. We were warm and cozy inside our sleeping bags and only our noses were cold. The only negative thing about winter camping in the igloo was that I woke up in the middle of the night and started to feel claustrophobic. If we had to do it again, I think we’d also build it to be a bit bigger, and maybe put in a small window so that it would feel a bit less claustrophobic inside. While researching and planning our igloo building project, we came across some interesting information that I wanted to share because it turns out that igloo is not the correct spelling nor is it the most accurate term for the structure. From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igloo): "Although igloos are stereotypically associated with all Inuit, they were traditionally associated with people of Canada's Central Arctic and Greenland’s Thule area. The Inuit language word iglu (plural igluit) can be used for a house or home built of any material, and is not restricted exclusively to snowhouses (called specifically igluvijaq, plural igluvijait), but includes traditional tents, sod houses, homes constructed of driftwood and modern buildings." Last but not least, a huge thank you to my parents for letting us use their backyard (and their tools, and their winter gear, and their sleeping bags!) to make this project possible. Thanks also to my brothers family for lending us their camping mats!! And thank YOU for watching! Camping explorer trailer build
DIY camping trailer built on a 4x7 tractor supply trailer. Built to haul all our tent camping gear with a galley kitchen in back. Upgraded the tiny 4.8x12 inch wheels to 13's. Total invested approximately $900 using a used ($325) trailer. UPDATE!! Converted this trailer to a camper I can sleep in. Added Windows, kayak rack, raised it 6 inches to allow for a bigger door, added storage under the floor. Painted the inside, added vinyl to the floor. Has a mattress, shelf, and hooks for hanging stuff. Still have a few things I want to add.

This Video is a walkthrough of my homemade battery box. It runs our Waeco CFX65L for around 3 days off the battery box alone and indefinitely when connected to solar. 1x 120AH AGM Deep cycle battery 1x Thunder 20 A DC/DC Charger (highly recommend! good value for money and a great alternative to ctek and redarc units) 1x Dual USB charging ports 3x Ciga sockets for powering the waeco and camp lights 1x volt meter and push button switch to turn on and off. 2x Grey Anderson 50A Plugs (output but can also be used as input if using a regulated panel) 1x Red Anderson 50A Plug for unregulated solar input note that red anderson plugs will only fit red, this prevents someone from connecting the solar to the wrong plug. The box itself is made from 12mm structural ply and covered with marine ply for looks. we are very happy with the Thunder 20A DC to DC Charger and could not recommend it enough. I have used both Redarc and CTEK units in the past and these are definitely better value for money. Disclaimer: I am not an auto electrician but am more than happy to assist anyone trying to replicate this battery box, if there is enough interest in a more detailed video explaining all the components I will upload a second video.

DIY Rocket Stove, Outdoor Kitchen, Golden Hour Life Hacks
In this video, I complete the diy rocket stove in the forest outdoor kitchen by burning out the wood form and doing a few trial fires to see how long it takes to boil one litre of water. In the second half of the video, I talk about the golden hour, one of the life hacks that I have used throughout my life to be more productive. My wife found three bourbon whisky barrels and a wine barrel to use as water storage tanks for the kitchen and the log cabin. I temporarily put them in place, but I have some great ideas to integrate them seamlessly into the structures, making them useful as well as attractive. DIY Camp Toilet
http://www.tngun.com/camping-toilet/ http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Products-Double-Doodie-Toilet/dp/B0024O0W94/Sheschinc-20 As the wife and I go to the farm we will have to rough it until I get some infrastructure built. For me, natural morning tasks can be done behind a tree, but my not only is Genny more civilized, she does not have a camping background. To be nice to her I decided to make her a toilet that would make her feel a little more comfortable (not TOO comfortable or it would take a longer time to get her to let me build a septic tank) When I was in the Marines, we has a metal folding chair that our welder cut a hole in the seat before mounting a toilet seat to. We kept on the back deck of out M88A1 and when out in the field it was easy to set up. I don't want to cut up my folding chairs, as soon I hope to have a classroom and will be needing them, but I do have some milk crates. Milk crates, incidentally, fit over a 5 gallon bucket. By using a bucket under the toilet it allows me to pack the waste home and dispose of in our septic system, but in a grid down situation, I could empty it into a deep hole away from any water sources. I bought a new wooden toilet seat for $5.00. Because the angle of the brackets did not allow me to mount it directly to the milk crate without modification, I unscrewed the brackets from the seat. I screwed a 1x2 wood strip to one side of the bottom (soon to be top) of the crate. -- This will eventually be were the bracket is screwed to. I placed the seat on the crate and after adjusting it to where I wanted, I drilled and countersunk 4 holes in the seat, and then used my reciprocating saw to cut out a hole. Using some large washers and the bolts, I bolted the seat to the crate. I then reattached the bracket to the seat lid, and screwed the bracket into the wood strip I attached to the crate earlier. The plan is to set the crate on some bricks to both raise it to a comfortable level, as well as to keep the crate from completely covering the bucket, as that would make it more difficult to remove (last thing I want is to fight with a sloshing bucket of poop)... Hopefully this little project will make my wife's camping experience a little easier, and that you can find a way to adapt this idea to you bug out/SHTF/Camping needs.

Customized Utility Trailer (Sides and Cover)
➤ I do this for a living, help me live? http://www.patreon.com/jackmanworks ➤ Please share and subscribe? http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jackmancarpentry Details! ▼ I wanted to expand the uses for my utility trailer and adding the sides and cover to the trailer did exactly that. The sides are made from exterior grade OSB ripped down the middle, giving me 2' high side walls. It is attached to the metal frame simply by screws through the steel angles. The cover is made from a tarp - custom cut to size with grommets installed along the edge. Screws at the grommets hold the tarp down simply with the tension in the tarp. It got tested in the rain the first weekend I used it and it stayed completely dry inside! ________CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK________ ■ Music by: Kevin MacLeod ■ More project photos: Coming soon ________GENERAL PANDERING LINKS________ ■ http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ http://www.twitter.com/JackmanWorks ■ http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop

Log Cabin TIMELAPSE Built By ONE MAN In The Forest
No talking viral timelapse video of Shawn James off grid log cabin build by one man alone in the wilderness of Canada, from 1st tree I cut to last floor board I laid. Please SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIMXKin1fXXCeq2UJePJEog?sub_confirmation=1 So Why Should You Subscribe To My Channel? To watch me build my next cabin - bigger and better than this one!.. To relax… To virtually immerse yourself in nature… To see how I live debt free, stress free and low cost… To see how I build things alone… To see how I cook with no electricity or gas… To hear what steps I took to retire in my mid-forties so I could live my dream life… To interact with the happiest and most helpful community of viewers on YouTube… To become more self-reliant. If you want to build a rustic log cabin or tiny off grid home alone in the wilderness and you haven't seen the rest of my videos, this is a good primer. It's super fast motion though, so if you are interested in building a primitive log cabin like this, take a look at the "Log Cabin The Bear Den" playlist on the channel. At the beginning of the video, I show a winter drone photo of the cabin in the snow in December. Then I flashback to the first balsam fir tree I cut down with a saw and axe near the cabin. I drag the trees into place and clear the cabin site. All summer, I cut the notches in the logs as I built the cabin up, offsite. Once I was finished notching the logs with a log scribe, saw, axe, adze and wood carving gouge, I loaded up the entire cabin of logs and moved them to my land near Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada. Once on site, I spent a month reassembling the cabin on a foundation of sand and gravel. Once the log walls were up, I again used hand tools to shape every log, board and timber to erect the gable ends, the wood roof, the porch, the outhouse and a seemingly endless number of woodworking projects. For the roof, I used an ancient primitive technology to waterproof and preserve the wood - shou sugi ban, a fire hardening wood preservation technique unique to Japan and other areas in northern climates. Because the cabin is offgrid, I have used handtools for most of the build and without power, I have no options on site regardless. The tiny house will continue to be operated with power, not even renewable energy for now, so I'm heating the cabin with a woodstove fire place, which I also cook on. The cabin is made of cedar fence posts, twelve feet long and the cabin measures 10 feet x 20 feet inside with a one hundred square foot sleeping loft on the second floor. The floor is made of two inch thick pine planks, torched to help repel water and to give them a rustic barn board appearance. Tune off sound if you don't want to hear the music, - there is no talking in this silent video. If you are a subscriber or long time viewer, there is some new footage at the end of the video, but otherwise you have seen most of this. As always, I'll release a new video on Friday showing the progress I made this week on the door and the ice box for food storage.
