Drug Withdrawals, Psychiatry, Mental Health Medications

Drug Withdrawals, Psychiatry, Mental Health Medications Dr. Breeding discusses the withdrawal symptoms or discontinuation symptoms of mental health meds like antidepressants, antipsychotics, amphetamines, adhd drugs, and anxiety medications. He gives different resources that person can use to help them taper off the drugs. Dr. Breeding points out that many doctors overlook the withdrawal symptoms when a person discontinues taking a psychiatric drug and thus claim that the person is having a relapse of mental illness instead of the effects of coming off of a drug one is addicted to. Psychiatric Meds Withdrawal + Q & A - Peter Gøtzsche - June 12, 2017 - CPH

37:32
Safe Withdrawal from Psychiatric Drugs - course arranged by Prof. Peter Gøtzsche. Why is it so difficult to quit psychotropics and why are so many doctors unwilling to help? How should it be done? The speakers discuss these issues and give practical advice about slow tapering. Warning! Psychiatric medication is addictive. You must not suddenly quit because abstinence may consist of serious emotional and physical symptoms that can be dangerous. Prof. Peter Gøtzsche is speaking here at the course: Safe Withdrawal from Psychiatric Medications, at Bethesda in Copenhagen. And his short summary is followed up by a Q&A with all the speakers: Psychiatrist Lisbeth Kortegaard, pharmacists Birgit Toft and Bertel Rüdinger, and psychologist Olga Runciman. deadlymedicines.dk (Please note: not deadlymedicines.com) psycovery.com

What is Akathisia?

01:47
http://missd.co/ ► Did you know that as many as five percent of people taking psychotropic medications suffer from akathisia? Akathisia is a mental health disorder induced by certain medications, namely antipsychotics, buspirone, SSRI’s (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and other antidepressants. The disorder can cause severe inner restlessness, driving people to violent behavior and/or suicide. Using sophisticated animation and the words of sufferers, this powerful video gives a firsthand look at the devastation caused by akathisia and offers vital information on this dangerous disorder, which affects so many around the world. This short educational video provides answers to these and other questions: What is akathisia? What causes akathisia? What can I do if I experience this life-threatening condition? By spreading the word about akathisia, we at MISSD hope to empower those suffering with the disorder and their loved ones to take action before it’s too late. Please help share this with people you know, and together we can prevent medication-induced suicides and violence. About MISSD (The Medication-Induced Suicide Prevention and Education Foundation in Memory of Stewart Dolin) is a unique non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the memory of Stewart and other victims of akathisia by raising awareness and educating the public about the dangers of akathisia. MISSD aims to ensure that people suffering from akathisia's symptoms are accurately diagnosed so that needless deaths are prevented. A website, the creation of educational materials and support of conferences such as Selling Sickness, will help to raise awareness and knowledge of akathisia and medication-induced suicides. Again, we feel it's important to note that we are not anti-drug, and recognize that prescription drugs can be positive and life-saving for many individuals. We are for truth in disclosure, honesty in reporting and legitimate drug trials. If this could happen to Mr. Dolin, then it could happen to anyone. MISSD will make a difference. Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant in the NaSSA class. It has a similar efficacy to SSRIs and TCAs, and it may be a better option for certain populations. How to Lose Weight While Taking Antidepressants?

08:51
Losing weight is difficult as it is but it is even bigger challenge when you are taking antidepressants. Discover why Dr. Sam Robbins, health expert, recommends Lean Optimizer™, as one of the solutions for weight loss while taking Antidepressants. http://drsam.co/yt/WhileTakingAntidepressants-LO ************************** How to Lose Weight While Taking Antidepressants? ********************** Losing weight is never fun and for most of us, it is not easy especially as we get older. Losing weight is difficult as it is but it is even bigger challenge when you are taking antidepressants. Moreover, the reason is due to your change in hormones. Over the years, I have discovered TWO main reasons for the weight gain from use of antidepressants: The first is the most commonly prescribe antidepressants, SSRIs - such as Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil, Zoloft - they work by increasing serotonin, which helps regulate your appetite. So typically, antidepressant users start eating more because their appetite has increased which is the initial and primary cause of weight gain. Secondly, there is another phenomenon that I have noticed over the years: With people who swear they are not eating more and yet, they still gain weight. After doing lots of different blood work I have noticed a change in metabolic markers: One of them being lowered thyroid production as well as a change adrenal function such as higher cortisol levels (stress hormone) and lower adrenal production. Both are leading to slower metabolism and faster weight gain. As you can see, hormones really do control everything, throw in aging and now things get a bit more challenging. In this video, I am going to give you proven solutions that will help reduce your appetite and maximize your fat loss. So, do not worry – it is not your fault. There is hope! And I have got the solution and you CAN do it! In this video, I will show you how to decrease the inches in those stubborn areas like your belly, arms, hips and legs of the ladies without losing muscles. Get started with the fastest and safest way to loose fat quickly! Fastest & Safest Way To Lose Fat Quickly! There are really 3 main keys to permanent fat loss and I’m going to simplify it for you. 4. Diet- is the most important, since you can easily consume more calories than you can burn. 5. Exercise – by doing the right form of exercise you will burn more calories, which will allow you to eat more food or not diet as hard. 6. Supplements – the right kind will turn on your “fat burning genes”, which means faster fat loss with less effort. WHAT IS YOUR BEST & SAFEST SOLUTION? We all need something “EXTRA”…Something that will improve your fat burning hormones naturally. I created an “All-In One” solution called Lean Optimizer™. Summary and bottom line is that you need to eat better and exercise daily and by utilizing Lean Optimizer™ with the right diet and exercise program means much faster fat loss with less effort for you! Lean Optimizer™ is the first & only all-natural solution that helps optimize and enhance your “fat burning” hormones, like when you were younger – by helping to increase your Thyroid and Leptin levels, while decreasing Cortisol and Insulin. - Helps suppress your appetite & reduce "cravings". - Safely increases your metabolism & energy levels. - Targets stubborn fat areas (belly fat, arms, and thighs). Benzodiazepines & Antipsychotics Many Problems, Joan Mathews Larson

02:53
Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. http://fatnews.com/ https://twitter.com/fatnews Joan Mathews Larson, PhD hates benzodiazepines and antipsychotic drugs the most. Dr. Larson notes... The group of drugs that I abhor the most… Are [really] the benzodiazepines [anti-anxiety drugs like Alprazolam (Xanax)], but I don't talk about those. “We won't even treat people who are bent on benzodiazepines for 20 years and who are 60 years old [because] you cannot get those people off [their drugs]… “You can get them off [those drugs], but they're crazy and they want to sue you, so don't do that. This group of antipsychotics, Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Quetiapine (Seroquel), Risperidone (Risperdal)… These drugs are freely given for sleep in other programs. A study was published in 2006 in JAMA [Journal of the American Medical Association] on these three drugs. The subjects were elderly people [in nursing homes], and over half of them, 54%, were dead within 12 days of starting this study. These drugs can cause nerve damage, weight gain, pounding heart, temporary paralysis. These drugs are not needed to sleep. There are much better ways to sleep. This was noted by Joan Mathews Larson, PhD in a speech she gave in September 2007. For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions. Dr. Larson is the author of "7 Weeks to Sobriety", "Depression Free", and "7 Weeks to Emotional Healing". Seroquel Serious Side Effects

08:58
I was prescribed Seroquel for Anxiety as well as a possible mood disorder. I had HORRIBLE side effects from Seroquel. I gained over 10 pounds in a week, felt like I had the flu constantly, had horrible headaches, felt like my blood sugar was out of whack, super sleepy but couldn't sleep still, joint pain and swelling, and numbness with tingling in my feet. Then, I woke up to find my face swollen along with 3+ pitting edema in both legs. The Doctor had me stop the Seroquel instantly without weaning down and didn't have me on anything for 3.5 weeks. I felt crazier than I have ever felt in my entire life. I keep on fighting and I know that any of you going through any sort of mental illness can do so too!

14:29
I discuss Olanzapine, aka Zyprexa, which is an antipsychotic drug and mood stabilizer, prescribed for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I talk about being addicted to hard drugs, dealing with bipolar disorder and being prescribed Zyprexa for insomnia and manic episodes. I discuss the negative side effects I experienced while taking Zyprexa, such as sexual dysfunction, low energy levels and emotional numbness. @nojokehoward...(Email, Facebook, Instagram & PayPal info below)... - Help Support NJH via PayPal using: nojokestriking@gmail.com - Follow on Instagram: @braetonhoward - Contact via Email: nojokestriking@gmail.com - Like on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nojokehoward/

Quetiapine (Seroquel): What You Need To Know

16:05
Quetiapine is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic. It’s approved by the FDA for schizophrenia, acute bipolar mania/mixed and depression, and bipolar maintenance (as an add-on to lithium or divalproex). The extended-release form is also approved as an add-on for depression. Though its approved uses are limited, it’s widely used off-label as a single therapy for depression, anxiety, insomnia, OCD, and other conditions. BAD SIDE EFFECTS OF INVEGA THE "DIRTY DRUG"

09:40
I have been taking the "dirty drug" Invega (or Palperidone the generic brand) for several months now. While it managed my hallucinations, delusions and bipolar outbursts, it caused me to experience almost all of the negative side effects. I suffered from breast swelling and discharge, changes in my menstrual periods (I did not have a cycle for 5 months), akathisia, weight gain (I've gained 40 pounds), decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. If you are on this drug, please consult your doctor and stop taking it immediately because the side effects are not noticeable right away and can cause long term damage. This is my daily reality and fight with mental illness, I have Schizoaffective Disorder, that is Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder in the same disorder. Anti-Psychotics Addiction and Rehabilitation | Drug Knowledge | Detox to Rehab

01:49
Power drugs prescribed to treat severe mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar, and delusional disorders, antipsychotics help regulate chemicals in the brain that change and effect moods, emotions, and behaviors. Side effects of these drugs can include muscle twitches, intense nightmare, high blood pressure, and seizures. Birth defects, heart problems, movement disorders, and even death are potential risks. Recently, abuse of antipsychotics has begun in order to amplify the effects of other drugs, resulting in severe and still unknown health risks and the combined effects of these drugs can be devastating. Withdrawal symptoms of antipsychotics can persist for months or even years and include anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, and bipolar illness.
