I ate one meal a day for over 30 days so here are my results. Learn what to expect with an omad diet meal plan. Eating one meal a day is a form of intermittent fasting for weight loss. Would you lose weight and more specifically would you lose body fat or would you lose muscle mass? Or maybe your body would go into starvation mode and cause you to gain weight rather than lose it due to a slower metabolism? Well that's exactly what we're going to drive into in today's video. I've been eating one meal a day not every day but almost everyday for about 2 years now. And it's worked really well for me, so today I'd like to let you guys know what results you can expect if you stick to only one meal day for the next 30 days. Even though I've had quite a bit of experience with the one meal a day diet myself I'm going to be sharing scientific studies and evidence that will help you see both the pros and the cons of this diet approach. First I want to go over the proper way to set up this diet plan for yourself because there's not an abundance of information out there on the one meal a day diet like there is on shorter fasting protocols like intermittent fasting. So a lot of people that try to stick to this diet plan mess it up from the very get go and turn it into more of a warrior diet. And the warrior diet is great, but that's not what we're going for here. You see the warrior diet is a different form of fasting where you fast for 20 hours of the day and you give yourself a four hour feeding window for eating. If you don't set limits to the amount of time you spend eating you easily can drag out your one single meal into a buffet that lasts for hours. So it's very important that you understand that one meal a day is also a 23/1 fasting to feeding split. Meaning you only give yourself a 1 hour feeding window usually during the same time every day and you have to spend the other 23 hours of the day fasting. If it isn't already obvious OMad or the one meal a day diet helps you create a calorie deficit without really thinking about restricting calories. When you're only eating once a day especially when you do it the right way and limit it to under an hour, you can only fit so much into your stomach before your full. So really we're limiting calories by decreasing meal frequency. Which immediately can be a red flag for those people that believe that your metabolism slows down when you decrease meal frequency. However, numerous studies have proven this to be a myth. One study called "meal frequency and energy balance" combined and examined research from a bunch of different studies on the topic of meal frequency. And the researchers found that a nibbling pattern of eating or eating more frequently didn't present any advantage as far as the metabolic rate was concerned. So your metabolism is not going to automatically slow down from eating only one meal a day for 30 days. If you have the same amount of calories in that one meal as you would in 6 meals then your metabolism should remain the same in both situations. So does that mean that the "starvation mode" that we've all been warned about is a big phony scam? Well turns out it's actually not, it's actually called adaptive thermogenesis and it's a very real response that your body has. In response to a decrease in energy intake your body will decrease energy expenditure in an effort to avoid starvation. However adaptive thermogenesis will occur based on the total amount of energy or calories coming in. As long as you don't fast for over 48 hours It doesn't matter if those calories all come in at once or throughout the day. In fact shorter fasts that last under 48 hours have been shown to increase your metabolism between roughly 4 to 14 percent due to an increase in norepinephrine concentration in the blood. But what about weight loss. Don't you lose more weight when you have meals more meals throughout the day due to something known as thermic effect of foods which simply means that digesting food throughout... Lacking consistency with your nutrition is the fastest way to fall out of shape, especially when you get hit with any of life’s surprises. All too often, it may seem that life gets in the way of you and your six pack. I get it, I understand. But if you are going to let that cave in your health, you will likely not be healthy enough to help those that need you the most. In this video, I reveal a few things going on in my personal life that would normally make it impossible for me to get my workouts in, eat healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. That said, I understand that I must be strong if I am going to be able to be strong for those that need me. Sure, it requires me to get up earlier than I would like to. It requires me to workout with less equipment than I would normally like to. It requires me to train with less time than I would normally allot. But I still get the job done. My meal plan prep relies on finding ways to manage the three choices that we all have, those being good, fast and cheap. If you want anything in life you must realize that you can only choose two of these options. I chose good and fast, at the expense of cheap. By using the catering menu at local health food grocery stores however, you will be surprised at just how much money you can save over the normally priced healthy food options. For instance, if you shop at Whole Foods you can buy a great meal that includes grilled fish or chicken, asparagus, sweet potatoes and grilled veggies. You will likely pay a pretty penny to have that though. On the other hand, if you hit the less publicized catering menu you can order your already prepared healthy food in bulk. Don’t worry if you can’t eat it all in one sitting, after all it’s bought in bulk, you shouldn’t be eating it all at once! Realize that you can freeze pretty much any of it without sacrificing it’s quality or freshness. Almost every cooked food can be frozen (some with differing times). Refer to any online resource to determine how long your favorite foods can be frozen and you’ll be surprised at just how much more flexible your meal plan prep can become in even the toughest and tightest of times. Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon Kosher salt and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 bell peppers sliced 1/2 large yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into strips Add half the oil and seasonings to the veggies; place on sheet pan. Add the other half the oil and seasoning to the chicken; add to the sheet tray. Bake in pre heated 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. Serve with flour tortillas and your choice of toppings; shredded cheese, guacamole, hot sauce, salsa and sour cream. Serves 4-6 Guacamole -6 ripe avocados -2 limes jiuced -4 oz can diced ortega cgilies -1 jalapeno minced -1/2 red onion finely minced -2 roma tomatoes diced -salt to taste -garlic powder taste -1/2 bunch cilantro minced Mash avocados with fork and add all ingredients in bowl. Perfect hot or cold. Brine chicken in a gallon of water, 1 cup kosher salt (or 1/2 cup table salt) and 1/4 cup brown sugar over night. Next morning, remove chicken from brine and place in buttermilk bath for 4-6 hours. Prepare seasoned flour with 4 cups flour, 2 teaspoons of kosher salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon paprika. Dredge chicken pieces in seasoned flour; place on rack for 30 minutes before frying. Fry in 360 degree oil until golden brown and chicken floats. So good!!!! Corn Casserole https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyaDsVlVcH0 Strawberry Cheesecake Bites Ingredients 20 large whole hulled strawberries 8 oz softened cream cheese 1/4 cup confectioner's sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 20 blueberries Carefully cut the berries into 4 wedges, cutting almost to, but not through, the bottoms with a criss-cross cut. Fan wedges just slightly, taking care not to break them. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until combined but still stiff. Using a pastry bag with decorative tip, fill the strawberries with the cream cheese mixture. Top with blueberry. Refrigerate. Mix in all ingredients except flour and blend. Add flour and mix with dough hook attachment until dough comes away from bowl and forms ball; knead for an additional five minutes. Cover bowl with cloth and let rise until dough is double in size. Divide dough into 16 pieces and roll into balls. Place on greased 13x9 inch pan. Cover with cloth and let rise for about 45 minutes. Bake in pre heated 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Rolls should be golden brown. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and brush on top of baked rolls.

We have created this playlist after receiving many emails about the subject. Many genres of food have strict religious guidelines, that make many periods of time during the year vegan. Take Ethiopia for example, due to their Christian Faith periods of fasting, meaning a vegan diet take place throughout their year, thus creating many recipes and dished that are suitable for vegans. The same in many ways can also be said about Indian culture and Rastafari. Vegetables, beans, pulses and some grains are suitable for vegan and even gluten free diets. Teff (Tef) is the smallest grain in the world and is 100% free of gluten, manly used and grown in Ethiopia East Afica, it is what Injera or Enjera is made from. A sough dough flat pancake bread. Rice flour is also a great way to remain free of gluten. Foods made from grains (and grain-like plants) that do notcontain harmful gluten, including: Corn in all forms (corn flour, corn meal, grits,etc.). Rice in all forms (white, brown, basmati and enriched rice). Also amaranth, buckwheat (kasha), Montina, millet, quinoa, teff, sorghum and soy.  A gluten-free diet is a diet that excludes gluten, a protein composite found in wheat and related grains, including barley and rye. Veganism /ˈviːɡənɪzəm/ is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, as well as following an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of sentient animals. A follower of veganism is known as a vegan.

Sprinkle on meat and refrigerate overnight. Then smoke meat in smoker next day. Add oil, flour and salt. Mix to form dough ball, and then knead for 5 minutes. Let dough rest until it doubles in size. Roll dough out on a floured surface and form into round circle. California Kitchen Pizza copycat BBQ Chicken Pizza INGREDIENTS 10 ounces boneless skinless chicken breasts , cut into 3/4-inch cubes 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tablespoons favorite barbecue sauce ( we use a spicy-sweet sauce) bbq chicken pizza dough cornmeal or semolina or flour , for handling 1/2 cup favorite barbecue sauce 2 tablespoons shredded smoked gouda cheese 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 1/4 small red onion , sliced into 1/8-inch pieces 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro DIRECTIONS To make BBQ Chicken: In a large frying pan, cook the chicken in olive oil over medium-high heat until just cooked, 5 to 6 minutes. Do not overcook. Set aside in the refrigerator until chilled through. Once chilled, coat the chicken with 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce; set aside in the refrigerator. To make the pizza: Place the pizza stone in the center of the oven and preheat to 500 degrees F for one hour before cooking pizzas. Use a large spoon to spread ¼ cup BBQ sauce evenly over the surface of the prepared dough within the rim. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon smoked Gouda cheese over the sauce. Cover with ¾ cup shredded Mozzarella. Distribute half the chicken pieces evenly over the cheese (approximately 18 pieces). Place approximately 18 to 20 pieces of red onion over the surface. Sprinkle an additional ¼ cup Mozzarella over the top of the pizza. Transfer the pizza to the oven; bake until the crust is crisp and golden and the cheese at the center is bubbly, 8 to 10 minutes. When the pizza is cooked, carefully remove it from the oven; sprinkle 1 tablespoon cilantro over the hot surface. If you want to learn bodybuilding from the world's best bodybuilder, you're in the right place. | Basics Are Best | "The biggest mistake being made in bodybuilding today is that people aren't covering basic exercises," says the Austrian Oak. And by basic, Arnold doesn't mean easy. Many contemporary fitness centers are full of people on machines, not in squat racks, and big-box gyms often lack even a single platform. Arnold disapproves: "Today, when I go in the gymnasium, I don't see any of the kids learning about the clean and press, or the snatch, or the upright row from the floor." Schwarzenegger's insistence on the essential lifts is not due to some grandfatherly desire to live in the past. It comes from decades of continued interest and expertise in the industry, and from the hard-earned knowledge that it doesn't take fancy machines or off-the-wall programming to become arguably the best bodybuilder in history. Get back to your bodybuilding roots and experience unbelievable growth. | Arnold Schwarzenegger's Training Tips | Chest: "There are three chest exercises that should always be done," Arnold says. "The bench press, the incline bench press at different angles, and the dumbbell flye." Back: "For back, I did chin-ups, bent-over barbell and dumbbell rows, and the T-bar row. Any kind of rowing movement will give you that thickness. Those are the exercises I relied on from the beginning of my career to the end." Arms: Arnold relied on the barbell curl to build thick biceps, but he also used incline dumbbell curls and concentration curls to isolate his biceps. "For triceps," Arnold says, "we did a lot of narrow [close-grip] bench press in the early days. And then triceps push downs and overhead triceps extensions later." Shoulders: Arnold's shoulders were built by barbell presses, behind-the-neck barbell presses, lateral raises, military presses, and dumbbell presses. "We always did presses behind the neck and a special dumbbell press which would stretch out the front delt at the bottom and fully flex it at the top. Now those are called Arnold presses." Legs "The squat is the most important exercise to create big thighs," says Arnold. "I did back squats, front squats, leg extensions, lunges, single-leg deadlifts, good morning exercises, and a lot of leg curls." Abs: "The regular training we did for abs was just leg raises, knee raises, crunches, and sit-ups. I find myself eating even after I'm full and thinking I deserve to be unhealthy. Any thoughts on that? Thank you 2. #KatiFAQ: Before entering college, I had a mindset that I would never be apart of Greek Life on campus. I only had knowledge about the stereotypes portrayed in the media. When I was on campus, a few of my friends convinced me to go through recruitment. Every idea I had about Greek Life was corrected and I realized it was for me. I joined a sorority that Fall. I don't regret it and I love every minute of it. If I remember correctly, you were in a sorority during college as well? What would you tell someone who was questioning joining a sorority or fraternity in college? Do you think that they can silence or support a member who is suffering from a mental illness? 3. Hello Kati, Thank you for all of your great videos and your dedication to your followers. I have recently started therapy for years of what I now understand as trauma. I have been completely disconnected from my emotions and going to my therapy sessions brings up tremendous anxiety in me, I suspect because I know I’m getting closer to the emotions every time I go. I feel quite safe with my therapist, however I can’t fight the feeling like I want to hide or be invisible when I am there. Would it be appropriate to ask if I could bring comfort items with me to my sessions? Like a cup of tea and a blanket. I want to keep going but the desire to be invisible is getting in the way of me being able to speak much even. 4. Hi Kati, is it normal to feel physically exhausted after a therapy session? What can you do to cope after a particularly intense session? Journal Topic: (from Rachel) “Some days life is all about your dreams hopes and visions for the future. But there are some days where life is just about putting one foot in front of the other. And that’s ok.” I love this quote, I think it is so important to believe regardless of what you are in recovery for. Recovery is so difficult and putting a tremendous amount of added pressure on yourself will just end up being detrimental. Remember, sometimes you are going to feel motivated and happy and inspired to keep fighting. But when you do have those thoughts that you don't want to get out of bed or you want to starve yourself or self harm, just remember that it is all ok just as long as you continue to fight. Bistro Compound Butter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1Opli0PPAo Bistro Chicken is a version of a French chicken dish that looks fancy, tastes great, and cooks up in a very short time. A compound butter is a softened butter mixed with a variety of ingredients then rolled and chilled. Make a batch when you have fresh herbs available, and freeze it for later use to get dinner on the table with ease. -1 cup softened butter -zest of one lemon -2 teaspoon kosher salt -1 teaspoon black pepper -1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes -juice of one lemon (about 4 tablespoons) -2 tablespoons finely minced parsley -2 tablespoons finely minced thyme -2 tablespoons finely minced rosemary -2 tablespoons smoky paprika -12 cloves garlic minced Mix all ingredients into a bowl. Roll into log and store in freezer. High heat method (this creates a crispy, darker skin): Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) and cook whole (thawed) chicken for 10-15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and roast for 20 minutes per pound. Weight Watcher friendly Ranch Dressing Buttermilk Dressing; -1 cup buttermilk -1/2 non fat Greek yogurt -1/2 cup best foods mayonnaise -1 package Hidden Valley Ranch mix Mix all ingredients. 1Tablespoon/1 Smart Point Strawberry Cake Ingredients 1 box Strawberry cake mix, make batter according to the directions on box 6 oz box Strawberry Jello 1 cup boiling water 1 pounds fresh strawberries, stemmed and quartered ¼ cup sugar (for strawberries) 1 Tablespoon Cognac 1 cups heavy whipping cream 1/4 cup sugar (for whipped cream) Instructions Make Strawberry cake mix according to manufacturers directions in 13 x 9 inch pan. Once baked, remove from the oven and cool on cooling rack. Poke holes into cake about 2 inches apart with a wooden skewer. Mix Jello with boiling water, stir until jello is dissolved. Pour Jello mixture over top of the cake layer, letting the jello mixture drip into the holes. In a separate bowl, place strawberries. Mix ¼ cup of sugar and cognac. Let sit for 15 minutes. Place strawberries on the cake. Whip cream and 1/4 cup sugar until stiff peaks are formed. Place whipped cream over the layer of strawberries. Chill for several hours before serving. Add water, tomato paste and sloppy Joe mix. Simmer for 15 minutes. Place hamburger bun halves on sheet tray and top with sloppy Joe meat. Top with cheese and bake at 350 until cheese melts. Swedish Meatballs Ingredients 3 slices day old white bread 1/3 cup milk 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 small finely chopped onion 2 garlic cloves finely minced salt and pepper to taste 1 pound ground chuck 1 pound ground pork 2 large egg yolks 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 4 cups beef broth 1/2 cup heavy cream Heat olive oil in fry pan; saute onion until soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Allow to cool. In small bowl cut up bread into cubes, add milk and let sit for 5 minutes. Lightly squeeze bread and place into large bowl with ground beef and pork. Add eggs, and onion mixture. Mix and form into meatballs. Fry in a little olive oil using the same fry pan until a nice brown crust is formed. Work in batches to avoid over crowding. Place meatballs into 13 x 9 inch pan. In same fry pan add flour and cook for a minute. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add beef broth, whisk and bring to temp. Then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Add cream and pour over meatballs. Place in 350 degree oven to finish cooking meatballs for about 30 minutes. Serve over cooked egg noodles.
