Together with water you can drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices. 2. Apple Juice Another great thing for colon cleansing is fresh apple juice. If you drink apple juice all the time, it can help bowel movements, break down toxins, and boost the health of the liver and the digestive system. 3. Lemon Juice Lemons are good for the digestive system because they have antioxidant properties and are full of vitamin C. For this reason, lemon juice is great for colon cleansing. Coconut oil has many health benefits that are well-documented. However, one recently discovered benefit is that coconut oil can help treat symptoms of hypothyroidism, or an under-active thyroid. Ginger has a long history of health benefits, including relief from nausea, digestive issues and pain. The most commonly used part of the plant for medicinal purposes is the root or underground stem, known as the rhizome. It can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a spice, or used in the form of an oil or as juice. If you don’t use ginger in your kitchen, here are 8 reasons why you might want to start! 1. Ginger Relieves Digestive Issues The phenolic compounds in ginger have been shown to help relieve irritation in the gastrointestinal tract. They help to stimulate saliva and bile production while allowing food and fluids to move through the GI tract more smoothly. In a study of 24 healthy individuals, taking 1.2 grams of ginger powder before a meal accelerated emptying of the stomach, reducing indigestion by 50%. 2. Ginger Relieves Nausea Drinking ginger tea or even consuming raw ginger is a common and safe home remedy for nausea, especially during cancer treatment or pregnancy and morning sickness. What is vitamin B12, where do you get it and what depletes it? What are the best sources of vitamin B12? If you got a blood test and they told you your B12 was low, it doesn’t mean anything. Serum B12 levels do not reflect true B12 levels since most B12 in the body is stored in the liver and blood tests do not determine stored B12 levels.   http://www.MarkusNews.com B12 is stored in the body for years and years and the odds are that in that time, you will accumulate more B12. Vitamin B12 is basically bacteria poop. In the natural world, (the way we were designed to live), you would pull a carrot out of the ground, brush it off and eat it. There would be little bits of dirt and millions of microscopic organisms all over that carrot. B12! Do you actually think in the 5-7 years B12 stays in your body, you are not going to be exposed to some dirt and bacteria? Heck, even your own gut bacteria, (your probiotics) produce some B12. They say vegetarians and vegans need to supplement B12 because they don’t eat meat. That’s another joke. 90 percent of America is meat eaters and 60 percent of America is deficient in B12, … so how come half the meat eaters are low in B12? Well lets look at why meat eaters sometimes have more B12. It’s not rocket science. Meat is rotting flesh. There’s a lot of nasty bacteria in meat. The minute anything is killed- plant or animal, it starts to decay. Decaying meat requires more aggressive and dangerous bacteria than plants. If you lived in nature only eating plants, you’d be getting more than enough B12. There’s even some B12 in my green formula. Seaweed is a great source of B12. Those of you who get my Sea Moss, haha- what an experience when you open that bag huh? All dirty and smelly. What a nasty fishy smell. That’s what stuff is like when you take it fresh right out of the ocean. It’s FULL of B12. Even after washing and soaking it multiple times, there is still B12 stuck in the tiny pores. There’s B12 in nutritional yeast, even kale and farm produce that still has some dirt stuck in the cracks. Remember also, you have 5 pounds of beneficial bacteria in your gut which also produces some B12. You can feed them and make them stronger by eating more fiber- that's what they love to eat. Then there’s fermented and cultured foods- a GREAT source of B12. Every little bit adds up. And since it stays in your body for years, odds are you are getting enough B12. Now it’s possible that you may actually be low in B12. So the REAL question isn’t “where do I get B12”,…it should be “what’s robbing me of B12 and how can I stop it?” The answer to all of your health issues should not be “what do I take” but “what do I STOP doing that’s causing the problem in the first place”, otherwise you are simply trying to patch holes in a sinking ship. The first place to look is your stomach. B12 is acid dependent for absorption. Older people have B12 issues not because they don’t have enough B12 in their body, but because it can’t ABSORB properly because stomach acidity declines with age. Bread, bagels and other wheat products absorb stomach acid like a sponge. They also turn into simple sugars which feeds candida yeast and H Pylori which radically deplete stomach acid. Antacids, baking soda and alkaline water cancels out stomach acid. Most people have low stomach acid as a result from not knowing what and how to eat.  Almost everybody, even raw foodists are sugar addicts and they choose what to eat based on how it tastes, not what they really need, resulting in a body that doesn't work right. Ok, anyway, if you want B12 to absorb, you need strong stomach acid for for that you need to cut down on bread and sugar and start adding more bitter things to your diet. You can rebuild stomach acid by using more acids in your diet like apple cider vinegar, lemon etc, and also sea salt, B-complex vitamins and 50 mg zinc with meals, plus bitter greens like arugula, endives, watercress etc and also my liver formula.  Do NOT drink alkaline water! This speeds up the whole mess of weakening stomach acid, nutrient absorption, lower B12 etc. Another thing that lowers stomach acid is adrenal burnout, the biggest factors being stress and stimulants- coffee, energy drinks, sugar, stuff like that. You can strengthen your adrenals with adaptogenic herbs like licorice root, ashwagandha, schizandra berry, astragalus, jiaogulan, nettle leaf and alma berry. You can get your own or simply get my Adrenal kit where I put the herbs together for you. As B12 pills go, sublingual methylcobalamin is the kind you want, not cyanocobalamin. Sure you can pop a B12 pill. But listen to what I’m saying. Simply taking a pill is not going to necessarily make you any better if you don’t stop doing what’s causing the problem in the first place! Stop trying to hide symptoms and get rid of the cause. Can Vitamin D Cause Constipation?

Greetings, it's Eric Becker, the naturopath. The question today is can Vitamin D cause constipation? Well it can, but only in extremely rare cases. You'd have to take an incredible amount of Vitamin D to get serious side effects from it. In all the years I've worked with patients I've never seen a serious side effect on Vitamin D. Even when I work with people up to 25,000 international units per day, three or four times that dose, 75,000 units per day for weeks on end, months on end for treating acne. And I've not seen any bad effects come from Vitamin D. However, if you're drinking a bottle of whiskey a day and you're taking 5000 units of Vitamin D can be seriously bad 'cause you're impairing your liver function. So if you're doing dumb things like taking lots of Tylenol, paracetamol, ibuprofen, Valium, Paxil, if you're taking all these drugs like candy and taking Vitamin D, that can be a problem. And that's what I see some patients do is they'll take five to six medications per day and then they'll pop a few Vitamin C or D tablets and they'll think, "Oh I'll just clean my liver out from all this toxicity." But you can't do that. You need to see someone like me or a doctor or someone who understands the interaction of drugs and supplements otherwise you're going to be in hot water. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and you've got four of them. You've got Vitamin A, D, E and K. They're all fat soluble. Now healthy people like me, they don't usually have any problems at all with fat soluble vitamins 'cause they don't really do crazy things like drink tons of alcohol or smoke or do dumb things like that. They don't take handfuls of drugs all the time so their liver's pretty clean and tidy. It can easily process the fat soluble vitamin. The digestive system is in good condition. It can break the fat soluble down properly and absorb it and excrete the waste products. That's how the body's meant to operate. When the body's poisoned, however, with takeaway foods, lots of Coca-Cola and alcohol, when you pay lip service to diet and eat whatever, then you could have some problems with Vitamin D. This is why doctors unfortunately always zoom in on Vitamin D saying it's toxic, it's bad. They'll give out antibiotics on this hand and on that hand they'll take the Vitamin D from you saying it's toxic so it's pretty crazy isn't it? So Vitamin D can cause constipation in some people if it's taken in excessive amounts. We're talking 40,000 international units. I've seen people take 5-600,000 international units a day. Don't laugh I've seen it happen. These were people that were very sick with cancer and they thought well I'll just really mega, mega boost on Vitamin D. A very silly thing to do. When you megadose on Vitamin D, it can cause hypercalcemia in the body so too much calcium buildup and that can affect your kidneys or your eyes or your heart or your brain. It can lead to a lot of different health problems. You can also get muscle problems. You can even get seizures from high dose Vitamin D. So you need to be cautious with Vitamin D that you don't go excessive. Here's what you do. Get a blood test done. Check your level of Vitamin D. You want to have it between 70 to 100 is a good reading for Vitamin D. Many people I see are 10, 20, 30 and the doctor says it's perfectly fine. When I started testing patients for Vitamin D 25 years ago, they weren't doing Vitamin D testing. They didn't even think it was relevant to test for Vitamin D back then. And even now they're reluctant to test for it. The day will come when a test for all minerals and vitamins in the body of every human being and medicine hopefully will working on the premise of building up the health with minerals and vitamins rather than poisoning it with Tylenol and Paxil and crap like that. So what's the solution? The solution is get your Vitamin D level tested particularly going into wintertime. Make sure that your levels are well over 50 hopefully 70. And if they're not that level, you want to start taking 5000 international units of Vitamin D3. Make sure you get the D3, the cholecalciferol, the D3. So you take one capsule of that per day with a main meal and after about I would say eight weeks, 12 weeks, get the level tested again. Make sure that your level is up around the 70 mark. That could potentially hold off a lot of chronic diseases. It's well worth doing. But yes it can cause constipation. If you take crazy amounts, anything can cause constipation. For this group, I wouldn’t recommend coffee because it will burn out your adrenal glands. However, if you’re generally healthy, then drinking coffee in moderate amounts can be fine, and even good for your health. Depending on the condition of your body, if you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease, coffee can make your disease worse.
