I put a frozen meal prep in my lunchbox in the am with an ice pack and it is thawed by lunch time. If I prepped a soup or a food with more liquid, I have to take it out of my lunchbox at about 10am to fully thaw by lunchtime. Do you thaw your frozen vegetables before cooking? Most of the time, I put them in the oven frozen. How long do you cook your frozen vegetables? I cook them on 350 degrees for around 25 minutes. Don’t panic, you have just hit a weight loss plateau. So Why Does a Weight Loss Plateau Occur? And how you get over it? The main reason why a weight loss plateau may occurs is your body begins to adapt. It happens when you keep doing the same set of exercises and eating the same types of food day in and day out. When you do this, your body got used to your exercise routine and diet so it makes adjustment to burn fats according to the amount of food you eat and the exercise you do. As a result, your weight loss method will failed to achieve a consistent result. How does one overcome a weight loss plateau? You need to change your exercise routine and your eating habits in order to defeat a weight loss plateau. Here are few things you can do. First, find out how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. To do this, use the following formula: (Your weight in pounds divided by 2.2) x 24 (for men) or 23 (for women) = the number of calories you need per day. For example, if you are a 150 pound woman, your formula would be (150 divided by 2.2) x 23 = 1568 calories/day. Next, set your calorie target every day to just under your necessary calories to maintain your current weight. Trying to lower your calories by too much will sabotage your efforts, because your body will go into starvation survival mode. If you are supposed to eat 1568 calories per day, you should set your goals at between 1200 - 1300 a day to lose weight effectively. Next Change the composition and/or timing of your foods. Dieters tend to get very regimented around the foods they eat. Consider lowering your carbohydrate intake and upping your protein and healthy fats. If you are used to eating three meals a day, shift to five or six mini meals. Don't change the overall amount you eat, just your patterns and your food choices, staying in the healthy guidelines that have worked for you so far. Modify your exercise routine. If you exercised a little or none increase or add exercise to your diet regiment. If you only did cardio add some weight training. It is important to vary or to shift your exercise so that it does not become routine. Your metabolism will react to the change by revitalizing and that will result in a positive outcome in your efforts to lose weight. Take a few days off from your workouts Sometimes our bodies just need a little bit of a break and providing this will allow your body to recharge and be ready to start the next round of weight loss. Take no more than a week off from working out. This may be just what is needed. The key for a successful weight loss program is to keep trying new workouts and ideas. Keep the body guessing! Keep your carbs below 20 grams (esp. if you have a slow metabolism) 2. No snacking between meals - do intermittent fasting (don't eat when you are not hungry). If you have low blood sugars, add more fat at the meal. 3. Keep your vegetables on the high end. You will need the fiber for the gut and the nutrients 4. Hidden carbs - avoid alcohol and fruit are the most common. 5. Stress - go from long walks and change your environment. 6.Sleep - this can kill your metabolism. Adding another hour of sleep could be the difference between losing and not losing 7. Other health problems - if you have "other" health problems like thyroid, constipation, problems with your cycles (menstruation), and inflammation. 8. Supplements (add minerals and B-vitamins) 9. (Must Read) "Why can't I lose weight anymore, even when I do everything right?" Is that what you are thinking? Yes? You have just hit a weight-loss plateau. You've been eating healthy food, exercising regularly and following all the rules. But for no reason, your scale is stuck. It happens when you hit a weight-loss plateau. But, don't you worry, bud! We all hit plateaus from time to time when losing weight. In my weight loss journey, I too had experienced plateaus and broken it thrice. So if you will follow what I say, you will be a able to break your weight-loss plateau. 1. START WEIGHT TRAINING Cause: "I'm doing a lot of cardio" If you are losing weight by 'just' cutting calories and doing cardio, you are losing muscles mass. It will drop down your muscle ratio in the body and you will hit a plateau. Solution: Weight lifting The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, even at rest. So start strength training like using dumbbells, weight machines in the gym or do some body weight exercises like pushups, squats, lunges and crunches. 2. EAT METABOLISM-BOOSTING FOODS Cause: "I'm in love with Vada Pav" In the world of weight loss, metabolism is the king. If your metabolism is slow, you will hit a plateau. If your metabolism is fast, you will burn more calories even while resting. Solution: Metabolism boosters If you want to improve your metabolism, you should avoid junk and include the right foods in your meals. - Whole Grain Cereals / Oatmeal - Low Fat Yogurt / Skim Milk - Green Tea / Coffee - Apple / Oranges - Chicken / Fish - Spinach / Cabbage 3. CHANGE YOUR EATING PATTERN Cause: "I eat just 1,200 calories a day" By any chance, are you into khakhra diet, mamra diet or any crash diet? Yes? Stop it immediately. Lack of proper nutrients (extreme starvation diets) can be a reason of your weight-loss plateau. Solution: Eat-well Plate Eat variety of foods from all the food groups. Your eat-well plate should contain: Roti, rice, potatoes and other starchy foods 33%, Fruit and vegetables 33%, Milk and dairy foods 15%, Meat, fish, eggs, beans and other nondairy sources of protein 12%, Foods and drinks high in sugar 7%. 4. SWITCH-UP YOUR WORKOUT Cause: "My workout isn't showing result" If you are doing same type of workout every day, your body can become used to the same caloric burn and muscle exertion. It can place you in a tough plateau. It can hinder your results and make your workouts tedious. Solution: New workout routine People say variety is the spice of life and this holds true when it comes to your workouts. Change Exercise routine, Sets and Reps after every 3-4 weeks. Increase intensity and Length of workout gradually. 5. BE MORE 'ALERT' WHILE CHOOSING FOOD AT RESTAURANTS Cause: "Oh, let's try that new restaurant" My experience is: Majority of all the weight loss plateaus are related to restaurant overeating and calorie creep. You might be eating 'more' calories than you 'think' you are eating. Solution: Smart eating - Prefer eating home cooked food. - Be extra careful while choosing healthy food options from the restaurant menu. - Order high fiber, high protein, low-fat food items. - Check your portion size. - Avoid late night eating. - Stop emotional eating. - Try cutting your daily calorie intake by 100 or 200 to move beyond the weight loss plateau. In the world of fitness, the "15-Day Miracle Plan" doesn't exist. Temporary efforts produce temporary results. Let’s get into it: Reason #1. You May Be Losing Inches and Not Pounds Right Now We expect scale weight loss to be perfectly linear and a steady progression all the way to our goals. Like we are happily skiing down a mountain all the way down to our perfect weight. Weight loss is not like that… Scale weight loss often looks more like Driving an ATV through Jurassic park. Lots of peaks, valleys, and a little bit of craziness around every turn… This is exactly why you need to weight AND measure yourself. Gaining muscle can also throw off the scale as it’s heavier than fat mass, but steady inches lost, especially in the abdominal area, is one the most reliable indicators of weight loss progress. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10951540 The most important measurement you can track is your stomach, but also tracking progress on the arms, thighs, hips and butt is a great idea. Reason #2. You’re Eating Too Much 90% of the time the main culprit to a weight loss plateau is simply an overconsumption of calories https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18583464 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18025815 It doesn’t matter if your gluten free, dairy free, or clothes free, if you’re eating too many calories you’re going to gain weight… The solution is to diligently track your calories for a week, remain in a calorie deficit, and see if the scale or your inches move. It’s important to remember that big reason for why an overconsumption of calories happens is because Reason #3. You’re Eating Processed Foods and Sugars When we eat things like sugar and highly processed foods they don’t actually fill us up and proven to cause more cravings. http://foodaddictioninstitute.org/scientific-research/physical-craving-and-food-addiction-a-scientific-review/ Often this process leads to overeating. There is another reason other than diet that people run into plateaus… Reason #4. The Down-regulation of Metabolism This is a part of your bodies survival process where the metabolism slows down to meet the low calorie intake required to lose weight. An annoying part of dieting for sure, but is actually mostly preventable by doing one thing: Lifting weights. While not 100% necessary at the beginning of a weight loss plan, lifting 3x a week seems to help prevent the down regulation of metabolism from happening. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18356845 So if you’re on a plateau and your diet is in check, try adding some strength training into the mix and see what happens. Reason #5 Stress High cortisol levels has been linked to stubborn belly fat and if you’re dealing with a lot of stress right now, this can definitely slow down progress. The best proven ways to minimize cortisol levels is sleep more, meditate, and go on a daily 30-minute walks. Reason #6. Your Hormones Need a Break Have you been dieting for what seems like, forever?? Being in a calorie deficit technically means that you’re starving yourself. This process of losing weight can cause hormones like leptin and testosterone to drop. The prolonged drop on these hormones can make weight loss more difficult. The solution is to go on a diet break. Eat a little more food (yes even some bad things), get some more sleep, and take a break from the dieting obsessively for 3-7 days. Throw away the scale and just focus on how you feel. This will help these hormones normalize and should help things get back on track when you start dieting again. Reason #7. Deficiencies and System Malfunctions If you feel like you’ve truly done everything we just talked about and you’re still not losing any weight, it’s time to go get some blood work done. Think about getting blood work as taking a look under your cars hood. Things like micronutrient deficiencies, thyroid issues, and other system issues are really only revealed by blood work and can cause weight loss problems. Sooooo take a peak and still feel stuck! Track your inches and make sure you’re really on a plateau #2. Track your calories for a week #3. Minimize eating sugars and processed foods #4. Try strength training 3x a week #5. Minimize stress levels #6. Go on a Diet Break #7. And finally go get some blood work done

In this video you'll discover a full step by step guide on how to break a weight loss plateau. ►If you found this video helpful hit Subscribe to support the channel and share the video with your friends to spread the word◄ First, let's define a plateau. Weight loss isn't linear, your body weight changes will often be in spurts. A plateau is defined as a period of about 4 - 6 weeks where you were stuck at a certain body-weight. There's only 3 possibilities for a weight loss plateau: Type 1 - Not adhering to the program Type 2 - New caloric maintenance Type 3 - Water Retention Effect It can be one or a combination of all 3 factors. Type 1 Plateau - Not adhering to the program We can look at 2 categories: 1. Conscious - You know you're not following the program. The hard thing is essentially to admit to yourself that you are having a hard time following the diet. 2. Unconscious. People often fail without even knowing. Study of 224 subjects http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199212313272701#t=article showed that people claimed 47% less caloric than they actually ate and overestimated activity by 51%. A few high calorie meals here and there can easily erase a week's worth of caloric deficit. Both of these conscious and unconscious issues are usually solved by objective tracking using tools like MyFitnessPal. Type 2 Plateau - Arrival At New Caloric Maintenance This is normal and to be expected. This is why tracking is key. Breaking through type 2 plateaus Once you reach this plateau there's 3 options to overcome it: 1) Eat less calories 2) Add more exercise 3) Combination of both To pick which of those 3 you can use first you want to analyze and see what is the most realistic plan of action for you. Type 3 Plateau - Water Retention The "Whoosh" Effect This is where people panic after waking up every morning to see no progress on the scale. Maybe you're eating too much? Maybe you're not doing enough cardio, maybe there's too many carbs? This is especially true for people who combine large amounts of activity with large caloric deficit. Most people lack patience to wait it out so they cut calories further and/or increase activity which just makes the problem worse. Solution 1 (Best option): Patience Simply be patient if you are adhering to your diet and exercising, there is no magic that is preventing fat from being lost. It's just being masked by water retention! You will dump the water eventually. It's not uncommon to be stalled for 2-3 weeks to wake up 4-6 pounds lighter seemingly overnight just by waiting it out. Solution 2: High Carb Refeeds Minnesota Starvation Experiment (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/472138.The_Great_Starvation_Experiment) during World War 2. The objective of this study was to establish guidelines for properly refeeding war prisoners. The men were getting 1500-1800 kcal per day in a controlled setting lasting 6 months, with moderate amounts of daily activity. At the start men were losing weight linearly, about 2 lbs per week. However, after some time the weight loss occurred in "bursts" with long periods of plateaus. Water retention was noticeable in most men and in some cases quite severe. Half-way through the study they allowed men a relief dinner to celebrate the progress. A big meal of 2300 kcal was served and that night everyone got up more often than usual to urinate. The next day they discovered that they had each lost several pounds. This was not a one-time occurrence. When the experiment was over and the refeeding began, the men continued to drop weight until calories were increased substantially. Solution 3 - Diet Break Take a break from dieting by going to maintenance calories for 1-2 weeks and get used to the new weight. Solution 4 - Relax Do something fun and relaxing that will reduce your stress levels and you'll experience a drop in weight. Often when people go on a holiday after a long diet this tends to happen. Solution 5 - Sleep https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oce0_CvRaSY One of the many reasons to get enough sleep is inadequate rest increases cortisol levels, which, as you know, increases water retention.
