Choosing Benzoyl Peroxide VS Salicylic Acid
Hello, love! Cody here with another skincare video for YOU. Always here to help you have the most healthy, glowing and gorgeous skin possible. I know its been a hot minute since I've spoken about "BENZOYL PEROXIDE." So, let's clear the air real quick. Many know that I am not a fan of Benzoyl Peroxide in general. Mostly because it is very irritating, drying, has been known to cause rashes and contact dermatitis, redness, swelling, allergies and major discoloration and pigmentation. Oh and not to mention, it will bleach everything you own. Grrrr. However, I do use Benzoyl Peroxide on some of my clients who have extremely stubborn acne. I will say that Benzoyl Peroxide is wonderful at minimizing bacteria and inflammation in the deeper area of the skin if you can get through the initial stages of the irritation which can last for months depending on the percentage of Benzoyl Peroxide you use. However, most don't push through the discomfort because it is too drying and itchy and has been known to cause major purging of congestion to the top layer of the skin. Here is a link to a video I did on " How to minimize discomfort when using Benzoyl Peroxide and Retin-A:" https://youtu.be/eC6DzO5P3Io If you're considering an acne ingredient like Benzoyl Peroxide, might I suggest that you start with using a 2.5% formula first each day then work your way up to a higher percentage if you need to. Using a 2.5% daily will allow your skin to slowly get use to the BP so it won't overreact when you use it more frequently in the future. You can use 2.5% twice a day if your acne is severe or if your skin is very thick as long as you moisturize very well after each application. Combining Salicylic acid would be also wise so you can also kill more inflammation. Start off with a mild cleaner or spot treatment with Salicylic acid to use with your 2.5% benzoyl Peroxide so you can cover all your bases. I know I've said a lot here today, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Skincare Ingredients for Dry Skin and Dehydrated skin
As we age, not only does our skin produce less oils, it also loses it's ability to retain moisture. So, unless you want dry, dull, flakey, crepey, shriveled up skin, then you have to find a really good balance with your skincare regiment. Just as important as it is to include ingredients that help to reverse some of the signs of aging and some of the damage that we've done over the years, it's just as important to include ingredients that hydrate and moisturize the skin because that's what's going to give your skin that supple, smooth, plumpness. *DEHYDRATED skin lacks WATER *DRY skin lacks Oil, LIPIDS and MOISTURE Dehydrated skin tends to look dull and feel tight, even when properly moisturized. Dry skin can result in rough, dry or flaky skin Humectants: A humectant is an ingredient that draws water molecules out of its environment towards itself. This helps rehydrate the skin’s surface, but can cause some irritation to the skin in high concentrations. Humectants = Hydration Examples of Humectants are: Hyaluronic Acid Glyerin Glycerol Propylene glycol Urea Gycolic acid Lactic acid Honey Glycolic Acid Lactic Acid Sortbitol Emollients: An emollient is an ingredient that smooths the skin’s surface by filling in cracks between skin cells. Emollients include ingredients that replenish your skin's oil, lipid and moisture barrier. Emollients = Moisture Examples of Emollients: Ceramides Castor Oil Aloe Sesame seed oil Safflower oil Argan Oil Olive Oil Coconut Oil Occlusive Agents: Ingredients in skincare that form a film on the skin and prevent water loss. They can be very effective, but can feel waxy or greasy on the skin. They typically have a very thick texture and come in a tub. Occlusive Agents: *Prevent Water Loss *Protect against Environmental Factors Examples of Occlusive Agents: Petrolatum Petroleum Jelly Mineral Oil Castor Oil Parrafin Lanolin Shea Butter Silicones Dimethicone Jojoba Oil ***It's important to note that several ingredients can fall into more than one category. How to manage redness & itchy skin post application of Benzoyl Peroxide? - Dr. Urmila Nischal
Benzyl peroxide in a topical formulation is very preferred modality of treatment when it comes to management of pimples or acne. The most common side effects of benzyl peroxide is irritation of the skin because of dryness. What we can do to avoid this dryness is first, the face wash, Choose a face wash which is not so drying up. Instead of using face wash with glycolic acid or salicylic acid, you can go for the non-foaming facewashes which contains cetyl alcohol, which cleanses the skin without making it dry. After washing the face, you can apply liberal quantities of non comedogenic moisturizer. Keep the quantity of the benzyl peroxide application to the minimal. So what you can do is apply loads of moisturizer, the non comedogenic one and then apply a little bit of Benzyl peroxide. Also the contact time can be reduced. So instead of leaving the benzyl peroxide cram overnight, what you can do is as per your tolerance you can leave it for an hour or two hours and then wash it off with plain water. When you are using any anti acne cream in the night, miniose the washing off the face for two or three times. Don’t keep on washing the face every now and then because whatever natural moisturisation is built upon the skin is washed off because of this harsh face washes and then you are more prone to develop dryness and the irritation cause by Benzyl peroxide. If you are not able to tolerate this at all, what you can do is instead of putting on the creams or the lotion, you can switch onto benzyl peroxide facewashes. They are also pretty effective in the management of acne.
Clear Skin Face & Body: How to Stop and Prevent Breakouts and Acne
How to get rid of acne and pimples to achieve Clear Skin Face & Body. See Blog Post here: http://uwanawhat.com/2015/05/10/skincare-journey-knowledge/ I was lucky enough to have access to the best dermatologists, perscriptions, chemical peels, you name it- I tried it. From the boutique brand name products to the stuff found in your local drugstore- there wasnt anything I wouldn’t try: in fact- I almost did try it all in the process. -Salicylic acid washes -Salicylic chemical peels -Benzoyl peroxide & Retin-A Micro -Doxycycline: an antibiotic (pill) -Moisturizers, Toners In the search, I found simplicity was the key for my skin all along: a salicylic face wash…nothing else but an occasional application of PTR’s AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel to prevent a breakout. I have found Neutrogena’s Visibly Even, Garnier’s charcoal Shine Control Cleansing Gel, and PTR’s Salicylic Face & Body to be very good products, again for my skin, which is combination. To clear the uneven skin tone and dark spots, I began using -Garnier’s Dark Spot treatment, then switched to PTR’s De-Spot Skin Brightening Corrector- which I’d highly recommend. The Salicylic Acid peels were a huge lifesaver in high school: layers of skin would peel off, helping with dark spots and the acne. Be forewarned, your face will peal so set this up for the weekend so you can hide out in your down time and return to work or school looking less like a desert zombie. It was then I started using hyaluronic acid as a moisturizer- yes, acid and moisturizer in the same sentence. It was the only type of much needed moisturizer that wouldn’t cause my skin to break out. *I always mention that you can get illegal acid peels on the web, do not attempt to do this yourself if it’s stronger than over-the-counter, you can burn your skin and eyes. I learned to keep a fine tuned balance between over drying or over moisturizing my skin in a way: you want to prevent oils from sitting on the face, but if you get too dry the dead skin ends up clogging the pores. Recommended Face Washes for Acne & Clear Skin: Neutrogena Visbly Even Garnier Shine Control Cleansing Gel Peter Thomas Roth Blemish Buffing Beads (Salicylic Acid ) Bliss Fabulous Foaming Facewash Brands that did not work for me Clearacil Clean & Clear Murad Clear Skin Body: Use face wash on your back, butt, and legs: I don’t know why but that’s where I hypothesize that the skin is different. Scrub it hard girl, use that loofa hunty! Exfoliation is key- while I don’t continue to do the peels, I do use an exfoliating cleanser on my face & body, and make sure to exfoliate the shoulders, back, that donk of a booty , and legs. Tanning helps my skin stay clear of both breakouts and dark spots- be sure to use an UVA/UVB SPF.

Why Is 2% Salicylic Acid Drying Out My Skin? (Skincare Q & A)
Today's help with skin care segment is courtesy of the Skin Renewal Method (http://skinrenewalmethod.com) and Bay Harbour Med Spa (http://medspa33154.com). I receive hundreds of emails a week, but this particular one warms my heart, because it was so full of gratitude! Megan, a 20-year-old young lady, sent in the following skin care question: " I'm so happy I've come across this! So, my face is horrible, I feel like everything I'm trying to use it drying my face out, or it's not clearing my skin. I need help guys. Most my break outs now are on my fore head, and then there's some def on the side where both check bones are. I don't know what's going on. I'm trying everything with sal acid, it's drying my face out even with 2% but I am using a moisturizer regardless (Clinique). Thanks so much for your time, it's appreciated!!!!!!!! Xoxo." It is my absolute pleasure to answer Megan, it is not every day that I receive an email with as much gratitude for the skin care advice I gladly share with all of you. Tips to choose best facewash for men - Dr. Rasya Dixit
Men always have an issue when they are going to decide which face products they are going to buy and as often as a simple facewash may be, men are often given a big range of choices form oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin. Usually the facewashes which are designated for men, which says face wash for men. Usually target those people with more oily skin. But please don’t brand yourself or slot yourself in those slots. Understand your skin first. If you wake up in the morning and you feel that the T zone, or the forehead, the nose and the chin area are more greasy, as soon as you wake up, before using any product on the face, you might be having a little bit of an oily skin. If you skin is dry or stretched, immediately put a face wash, your skin may be dry and you might even have a combination of the two, just because you are man, it doesn’t mean that you just buy a product which us for men, most of which obtains a salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin. However once you have discussed an discovered what is your skin type, then you go on to choose your face wash. If you have a relatively oily skin, choose a face wash which has a salicylic acid or glycolic acid which helps to exfoliate your skin and of you have dry to sensitive skin, use a neutral pH facewash which is more foaming. Men usually don’t like cleansers or toners. So choose only a facewash which is lathering or foaming. Ask for a soap free face wash, but which has lathering and foaming. Ask for a soap free facewash, but something which has lather if you have dry and sensitive skin. Avoid products which has too much perfume or lather too much as they dry out your skin excessively and make it sensitive to the sun and that may in turn cause pigmentation when you go out. And remember to put on your sunscreen. There are a lot of gel based sunscreens which are transparent, which are available for use, which will prevent your skin from getting dark and importantly from getting aged. It is important to use to use the correct face wash to prevent acne or pigmentation and also to prevent ageing of the skin.
AHA vs BHA exfoliants. Which one is right for you?
I started seeing a great improvement in my skin after using BHA exfoliant just for 1 week. My skin texture has improved, but the best thing is that the acne and blackheads reduced tremendously. I could even say that I have clear skin!!! Everyone can benefit from daily use of a well formulated AHA (alpha hydroxy acid such as glycolic and lactic acids) or BHA (beta hydroxy acid, also known as salicylic acid) product. Each provides multiple benefits, including fighting signs of aging and breakouts! Exfoliating Can Make You Look Instantly Younger. How Do I Use an AHA or BHA Exfoliant? You can apply an AHA or BHA product once or twice a day. You can also apply either of these around the eye area but not on the eyelid or directly under the eye. Apply the AHA or BHA product after your face is cleansed and after your toner has dried. Once the AHA or BHA has been absorbed, you can apply any other product in your routine, such as moisturizer, serum, eye cream, sunscreen, and/or foundation. If you're using a topical prescription product such as Renova, other retinoids, or any of the topical prescription products for rosacea, apply the BHA or AHA first. It is a must in your daily skin care routine. -Learn about Acupressure mat, Pressure Points Health Benefits: ++++ Pranamat ECO Acupressure Mat: http://go.pranamat.org/V 10 % Discount Code: CLC10 (will apply a discount to items which are not already on sale) ++++ The Acupressure Mat I am using: https://pranamat.info/affiliate/ideva... -Check out the Best Products for Health & Beauty at Thrive Market THRIVE MARKET 20% OFF YOUR FIRST 3 ORDERS: https://bit.ly/2GbswN6 This video is not sponsored but please note the above links provide me with a small commission if you choose to purchase the items :) Thank you for watching! There are hydroxy acids (AHAs and BHA), vitamins, and a couple of less familiar acids too! This video is for if you have an established skincare routine, and you’re looking to add more actives. How to stop whiteheads? - Dr. Urmila Nischal
Whiteheads occur because of the blockage of the outflow of the oil glands, there are certain glands called as sebaceous glands in our skin and they are very active, when the oil production from these glands so when the oil production from this gland is not coming out properly there is a blockage in the outflow and these gt collected inside this is called whitehead. There are certain reasons why this happens either because of increase oil production or blockage in the outflow. Blockage in the outflow is because of what we apply externally on our face so it could be over travelling in a dusty environment or too much of makeup the makeup can actually block the pores and prevent the outflow. The other cause would be applying some over the counter creams which can be comedogenic and give rise to whiteheads. To stop all this avoid the above factors , at night tome what you can do is apply some creams which have glycolic acid acid or salicylic acid so this will reduce the blockage it will dilute or liquefy the secretions and open up the whiteheads and thereby stop production. If the pigmentation is too much like all over the face then may be we should start the oral medication and also like supplementary chemical creams which contain glycolic acid acid or salicylic acid.
How to get rid of Noticeable Pores on face? - Dr. Rasya Dixit
Do you know what an open pores. An open pores is nothing but the enlargement of oil gland opening or oil gland mouth. We see open pores commonly with young people teenagers when their oil glands are just maturing and later in old age when the collagen which is holding a skin tight which closes the mouth of the pores and starts to stand a lot of people complain about open pores especially when they see after long sun exposure definitely smoking is a factor which makes open pores much worse why everybody so concerned about open pores when you have open pores skin looks much smooth and it also looks a little bit more aged than before so what is the first thing that you have to do when to prevent in open pores the simplest thing is use a sun screen every day to prevent for the collagens denaturation make sure you use a good salicylic acid based face wash is gentle enough for your skin and cleanses out pores effectively. Treatment such as claps might not have actually help too much for a pore because a pore is actually structural deformity which runs throughout the skin itself so creeping of the upper layer of the skin might not help significantly but because of the edema which happen because the swelling which happens after you Scrub your face you skin looks and feels smoother so yes you can do it but if you really want to do much more for treatment of your pores then I think there are two things which will significantly one is the use of the retinal base cream which helps the collagen to tighten significantly the other treatment is a treatment like a Derma Roller on laser which actually tightens the skin by resurfacing the skin these are treatments which will significantly improve the quality of the skin when you always look at pores it is easier to treat the cause when I am starting then they are completely enlarge so make sure that can consult your doctor early so that you can I start on the preventive treatment such as using your sun screen regularly and the creams prescription creams which are mention but what you do when you have quick fix definitely if you have a party to go to and you feel your oil glands are looking to enlarge just do the simple trick take the ice cube and run it over your face this seems the pores and temporarily and then gives you an improved structure immediately.

Today I wanted to chat with you about my Jessner Chemical Peel! I showed you guys before and after pics of the Jessner peel and how my face healed. I got this treatment because I have been trying to minimize the scarring that my acne has left over the years. I have had acne scarring for many years and have always struggled with how to get rid of acne. Some damage was done by sun damage, but some was from acne in my teenage years. Chemical peels are very effective in turning over your skin cells and helping heal damaged skin. While the chemical peel was happening, it was only slightly uncomfortable. During the procedure, I was also a little light headed. My skin was red and tight for a few days and I felt swollen and just not so great! However, after a few more days, my skin peeled off and I went back for another facial to help calm my skin. The results were in my opinion good! My pores appeared smaller and my skin was smoother! I want to do this chemical face peel again, but a may wait a few months. Thank you guys for watching and if you have questions, leave them in the comments!

Tutorial: Application of a 20% Salicylic Acid Peel
**Subscribe to my channel and learn all things skin care. Plus other little fun things.** My apologies...I forgot to tell them to film this horizontally (and from the the front. LOL). I was concentrating too much as it was my first time applying this particular product lines peel. PLEASE remember to never do this on yourself unless you have been properly trained. Trust a professional to give you this treatment. Application: 1. Cleanse skin with gentle cleanser 2. Make sure skin is dry, then clean face with Pre-Prep (this is to de-grease the skin) 3. Apply first pass of 20% Salicyclic Acid Peel starting with the forehead and working your way down the face. (note the time on the clock) 4. While watching the clock, ask your client how they are doing and check for any frosting on the skin. 5. If client can handle another pass, wait 60 seconds between each pass and apply another. Starting again at the forehead and working down the face. 6. After 5-10 minutes (we did 5 mins here), re-cleanse the face with gently cleanser and apply an SPF of at least 30. Chemical peels exfoliate the top layer of skin, causing the natural cell turnover process to speed up. Salicylic and glycolic acids are two of the most commonly used ingredients in peels. They refresh the skin by removing discolored skin cells. Plus, they work wonders on acne-prone skin—oil production is minimized, pores are unplugged, and blemishes, blackheads and whiteheads shrink in size. Unlike microdermabrasion, chemical peels can be a little more intense, depending upon the percentage of acid used. Salicylic or glycolic peel can be mild to moderatley uncomfortable and burn or sting. It’s also normal for skin to be red and dry and peel for a few days after the treatment. Normally, peeling will start 3 days after a peel has been applied. All Natural Sun Damage Mask
(apologies for the sound in this one! problem has been fixed for future ;-) All natural, at home, face mask to help with sun damage! It's a simple, inexpensive and all natural substitute for a chemical peel or expensive salicylic acid masks. Using crushed asprin, baking soda and lemon juice, you can begin to erase any damage you've caused your skin by too much sun exposure. The aspirin contains something similar to salicylic acid, which is found in most acne treatment products, the baking soda is a mild and gentle exfoliant, and the lemon juice contains vitamin C, which is great to battle any potential sun damage, as well as it being a natural skin brightener (for those dark sun spots), and antibacterial. 1/4 cup (ish) baking soda mixed with 1 aspirin, either coated or not (uncoated is easier to crush) and a big squeeze of lemon. Mix it together until you have a paste, adding more baking soda/lemon juice as necessary to get a good consistency. Apply to face and gently scrub while you do... it's exfoliating on the outside as well as you do this. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so, until it's hardened. (feel free to dance party while you wait... beware the flakes) Rinse or wipe off, gently. Repeat up to 2x a week for softer, smoother skin... slowly erasing the discoloration and damage caused by too much sun exposure! How to make a homemade salicylic acid mask (peel)
About 2wks ago, I began to break out with big, red, inflamed, tender, icky pimples. Of course, I wasn't much help in the healing part, bc I couldn't stop picking at them. But I was so discouraged that I wanted to throw in the towel or at least till I got this under control. In my search to try to figure out the culprit, cuz it could have been ...one of the natural oils in my serum, the ocm mixture, exfoliating too much, weather, new cosmetic products, or hormones, I discovered the oil I used at night (rosehip seed oil) aggravates active breakouts, so stopped immediatley. The 2nd thing I found out was tamanu oil is an amazing oil for acne, active acne. So I changed my ocm mixture to tamanu and grapeseed. I chose to stop using my oil serum and only used tamanu on my face while i'm having this issue. I also, stopped exfoliating everyday, went back to cosmetics I know I don't react to. And added to my skin care regimen the aspirin mask. It is so very simple, cheap and quite effective. It not only helps to clear up the acne, but leaves skin, soft, smooth and glowing. I have been doing it 1/day, but b/c the aspirin and honey are exfoliates, I alternate between "exfoliating" when i rinse it off, and just rinsing it off, no rubbing. I would recommend doing it 1-3/wk @ 15 minutes. You know your skin best so, you can play around with how much you do this and for how long. Always moisturize afterwards***IMPORTANT*** WHAT YOU WILL NEED: GENERIC (cheaper) uncoated 325mg aspirin WATER OR LEMON JUICE (FRESHLY SQUEEZED ONLY) HONEY (OPTIONAL) SPOON & BOWL ***CAN USE LEMON JUICE INSTEAD OF WATER, BUT DON'T DO THAT TILL I CAN GET YOU MORE INFO***

How to Use Aspirin to Heal a Pimple | Acne Treatment
Watch more How to Get Rid of Acne videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/505782-How-to-Use-Aspirin-to-Heal-a-Pimple-Acne-Treatment So aspirin is salicylic acid which is the same ingredient that's found in many over-the-counter pimple preparations. If you want to use salicylic acid on a pimple, this is what you need to do. Crush an aspirin and mix it with about a tablespoon of water until you get a nice thick paste. Then you can apply it to the pimple and leave it there for a few hours or even overnight. The key thing if you're going to do this is make sure that that salicylic acid does not get on normal skin because it's very irritating. So make sure you dot it right on the pimple and nowhere else. I'll be honest with you. If you have a really big pimple, this is not my favorite way of treating it because I see too many people who really irritate their skin by doing this. It's more of a last resort treatment. If possible, the best thing to do is see your dermatologist and have him or her inject some cortisone into the pimple. You'll be amazed how much it will go down in 24 hours.

How to Glycolic Peel at HOME
Lasers and Lifts – new website in late September 2016. http://www.lasersandlifts.com.au Realself reviews: http://www.realself.com/find/Australi... Google + for up to date info. Posted daily. https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/1139391... Instagram https://www.instagram.com/drdavinlim/ Glycolic Acid is a fruit acid from the Alpha Hydroxy Acid family, this is commonly known as an AHA peel or a ‘lunch time peel’. It is most commonly source from Sugar cane. Glycolic Acid is pretty famous for its use in cosmetics because it is a natural exfoliant and moisturizer. It acts as an exfoliant because of its high acidity and easy solubility and works by destroying the "glue" which holds the dead skin to the surface, resulting in smoother skin. Glycolic peels can also stimulate the skin's natural collagen and elasticity and helps in filling up the finer lines that may lead to deeper wrinkles. In summary this peel is an all round peel, and can reduce wrinkles, reduce blackheads and whiteheads, treat acne and most importantly reduce facial pigmentation. This is one of my favoured peels for melasma, a unique form of facial pigmentation. Which chemical peel is right for your skin type? With so many versions on the market, it’s tough to decipher which one will work best on your skin type. Glycolic peels are helpful for sun-damaged skin to even out skin tone and pigmentation. They also give the skin a nice, radiant glow. Salicylic acid and retinol peels are better for people with oily and/or acne-prone skin. These loosen blackheads, reduce oil and even out discoloration from old breakouts. Skin tone is also an important factor when choosing a chemical peel. The most common ingredient in at-home peels are glycolic acids, which can sometimes be unpredictable – hence why I prefer a lower concentration TCA peel as safer type of DIY peel. TCA Peels, unlike Glycolic acid peels do not need to be neutralized. How to prep skin for a Glycolic Acid or AHA chemical peel? Before you introduce peels into your current regimen, you have to prep your skin by making small tweaks to your daily routine. To start, try to avoid direct sunlight for at least a week. Avoid using retinol products – vitamin A 2-3 days prior to a peel. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is naturally found in some fruits. It is the most widely used peeling agent and is available in strengths ranging from 5-70% (lesser percentages are used in over-the-counter products).  It is often used for mild sun damage in order to "freshen" the skin, even out skin tone, or improve discolouration.  Like salicylic acid, glycolic acid can also unclog pores and improve acne.  The effects of this type of peel depend on the strength of the solution and on the length of time it is left on the skin. Glycolic acid must be neutralized, usually after 2-4 minutes. Like I said, this just a guide- if there is excessive stinging, redness or swelling, neutralize the peel earlier. Ideally AHA peels, like TCA peels should be performed every 2 weeks, slowing increasing the concentration. For at home use, I don't recommend more than 20 %- start off at 5%, then go to 10%, 15%, then finally end at 20%.  If the acid is left on too long, side effects are more likely. Higher strengths should be done by a trained nurse, under the guidance of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Chemical peels can help the skin glow with health, but also render it slightly more sun sensitive — be sure to use a good SPF every day after the peel. Stay safe, and thanks for watching this video. How to Get Rid Of Acne
Watch more Skin Care 101 videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/417-How-to-Get-Rid-Of-Acne Acne affects people of all ages and all races, and treating it is a slow process that requires diligence and patience. Here are some tips to help you get started. Step 1: Wash morning & night Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and warm water when you wake up in the morning and at night just before bed. Tip Don't use harsh scrubs on acne—it will only irritate and inflame the acne. Step 2: Pat face dry Gently pat your face dry with a towel—don't rub, or you can extract too much moisture from your face. Tip Be careful not to wash your face too much, which can irritate your skin. If you have oily skin, try blotting it with a clean tissue instead. Step 3: Apply medication Apply a topical acne medication, either one prescribed by your dermatologist or an over-the-counter cream, lotion, or gel containing benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Tip Benzoyl peroxide reduces a certain kind of bacteria on the skin and salicylic acid helps unclog pores by correcting abnormal skin cell shedding, so one might work better for you than the other. Step 4: Protect skin Protect your skin with a non-comedogenic sunscreen and avoid excess exposure to sunlight. This is always important, but it is especially critical when you're using topical or internal acne medication, which increases skin's photosensitivity. Step 5: Use right cosmetics Use only non-comedogenic, water-based cosmetics that are oil-free. There are moisturizers and makeup formulated for acne-prone skin. Step 6: Shave carefully If you shave, do so carefully and sparingly. Shaving can easily irritate sensitive skin, so only shave when it is necessary and only in one direction. Tip Some shaving creams on the market contain benzoyl peroxide, so check the label. Step 7: Don't pop Don't squeeze, pop, or pinch acne. It can cause further inflammation and even permanent scarring. Step 8: Avoid actions Avoid actions that cause repetitive or prolonged contact with the affected area, like holding a phone against your face, wearing sports equipment, or resting your chin on your hand. Step 9: Keep hair clean Keep your hair clean and out of your face. The natural oils in hair can contribute to acne, as can hair products that contain oil. Step 10: See dermatologist If you take proper care of your skin but you still have outbreaks, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. There are different types of acne that may require different approaches in treatment. Step 11: Follow instructions If you're under a dermatologist's care, follow his or her instructions carefully. If you're prescribed an oral medication, take it regularly. Step 12: Be patient Be patient! Fighting acne is a slow process, and there is no quick fix or immediate cure. But sooner or later you'll win the battle—and your skin will thank you for it. Did You Know? Acne is one of the most common skin afflictions in the U.S., and 95% of those affected first suffer from it in their teens.

How to Care for Oily Facial Skin
Watch more Skin Care 101 videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/237588-How-to-Care-for-Oily-Facial-Skin You're blissfully wrinkle-free but your shiny face is plagued with large pores, blackheads, and blemishes. Fix it with these tips. Step 1: Wash with mild cleanser Wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser free of oil or waxes that aggravate oily skin. Rinse with warm water. Use a cleanser or toner with hydroxy acid regularly to remove dead skin cells that build up on greasy complexions. Tip Use a cleansing cloth for oily skin – they contain mild cleansers and provide gentle exfoliation. Step 2: Apply astringent daily Apply a non-alcohol-based astringent such as witch hazel to absorb extra oil. Witch hazel is natural and helps prevent acne. Tip Alcohol-based products strip too much oil from the face, which compensates by producing even more oil. Step 3: Moisturize Moisturize with a light, oil-free moisturizer with SPF. Avoid products with cocoa butter and mineral oil. Depending on how oily your skin is, moisturizing may not be not required daily, so use only as needed. Tip Use a gel-based sunscreen instead of a lotion-based one. Step 4: Treat breakouts Treat breakouts with a product containing salicylic acid, such as lotion, cleanser, toner, or medicated pads. Step 5: Use a clay mask Use a clay mask two to three times weekly to get rid of excess oil. Choose a darker brown clay mask, which absorbs more oil. Apply the mask and leave on for 15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Step 6: Eat right Eat a low-fat diet high in fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. Avoid animal and dairy fat, caffeine, sugar, and refined starches. Drink six to eight glasses of water daily and take a multivitamin. Did You Know? Oily skin is an inherited trait, but before you blame your parents, know that hormones can also play a role.

Battling Breakouts and Acne - Nadine Baggott
We ALL suffer from breakouts every now and then, however I am lucky enough for them to be a monthly rather than a daily occurrence, so I have enlisted the help of my gorgeous niece Simone to help me out on this vlog. Here are my favourite three on the spot emergency gels/lotions to tackle my humungous occasional spots on my face and body, followed by Simone's favourite daily use products to calm, soothe, unblock and tackle her daily spots. We also discuss why we get body breakouts, and I take a look at a brilliant new book from one of the UK's leading dermatologists Dr Nick Lowe, that i think is the definitive guide to grading breakouts and acne, ingredients to look for in your skin care, when to see a doctor and what treatments are available in clinic and at the dermatologists. My on the spot emergency super strength products are * Neostrata 15% Salicylic that, I admit, I got from a Spanish pharmacy or you can get online from here http://www.lafarmaciaonline.com/en/productos-ficha.asp?id=3309 If you want to buy within the UK only the 15% Glycolic is available here http://www.effortlessskin.com/p-498-lotion-plus-200ml.aspx but this contains alcohol so i would only use it on my body not my face. * Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Gel http://www.clinique.co.uk/product/1672/29793/Skin-Care/Acne/Treatment-Specialists/Anti-Blemish-Solutions-Clinical-Clearing-Gel?77tadunit=e96f9bf6&77tadvert=95052592620&77tkeyword=clinique%20anti-blemish%20gel&77tentrytype=s&cm_mmc=ppc-_-77agency-_-brand-_-clinique%20anti-blemish%20gel&gclid=Cj0KEQjwhZm7BRCUyfS6ho2VjOEBEiQAumpGMsY6PLDl5fN_-JNr-c-cVOpMtYvLH1qp_6Pk2wJTl-saAt4O8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds is such a handy little gel, stays where you put ie on the spot, dries quickly, works brilliantly overnight. * BKamins Bio Maple Glycolic 10 http://www.bkamins.com/index.php/products-83/by-skin-condition/sun-damaged/glycolic-10.html#.V2auOxNVhBc The fact that my packaging is so out of date shows you how rarely I use this, but boy it works. Simone's every day products are. * Paula's Choice 2% BHA Skin Perfecting Liquid http://www.paulaschoice.co.uk/skin-perfecting-2-beta-hydroxy-acid-liquid-exfoliant.html l* Paula's Choice 2% Body Spray http://www.paulaschoice.co.uk/clear-exfoliating-body-spray.htm * Weleda Cleansing Lotion http://www.weleda.co.uk/specialist/aknedoron-cleansing-lotion/invt/102007 but I'm going to be honest with you here, I personally would not use essential oils on my face, but then my niece is a 'natural' skincare addict, so she insisted I mention this. I would much rather she use a gentle creamy rinse off cleanser before her BHA. * Jose Moran Argan Oil Exfoliating Powder http://www.sephora.com/argan-exfoliating-cleansing-powder-P393070 which can be replicated in the Uk with this http://www.dermalogica.co.uk/uk/html/products/daily-microfoliant-11.html Dr Nick Lower Perfectly Clear is available here http://www.drnicklowe.com/perfectly-clear-the-perfect-guide-to-clear-skin.html Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and COMMENT. Skincare Ingredients That Will Change Your Skin!
Hey everyone! Today I will be going through skincare ingredients that WILL change your skin! These ingredients are all backed by scientific research and testing and are totally proven to benefit your skin! I love skincare and particularly all the science behind it. I find it all so fascinating, and I am always interested in learning more and more about skincare. If you have ANY questions at all please feel very welcome to ask! Whether they be questions about skincare ingredients, products you own, your next skincare purchase or just questions about me! DISCLAIMER: These ingredients may have an adverse effect on your skin if you do not properly protect your skin with a Broad Spectrum sunscreen. Your sunscreen should be at least SPF 15 or SPF 30 if you live in dry countries like Australia, Africa etc. Skincare ingredients mentioned in this video include: BETA HYDROXY ACID (BHAs) - Chemical exfoliant - A popular BHA is salycilic acid - They are most effective ingredient to remove blackheads, clean pores and reduce the size of pores! - Products containing BHAs must have a pH level of lower than 3.8 to be effective. - Paula's Choice BHA exfoliants are all amazing and have the correct pH level. - Other effective products with correct pH include philosophy's clear days ahead oil-free salicylic acid acne treatment & moisturizer and ProActiv's Clarifying Night Cream. RETINOL - Anti-aging superstar! Used by all the movie stars and celebrities to maintain youthful glowing skin! - Diminishes wrinkles, evens skin texture, banishes acne and effectively tells your body to produce new skin cells! - Of all the ingredients listed this is one of my all time favourite - After only 3 months of using a prescription form of Retinol I have seen great results! - Non-prescription skincare products that contain Retinol include Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream, Murad's Time Release Retinol Concentrate for Deep Wrinkles & Olay's Pro-X Deep Wrinkle Treatment. HYLAURONIC ACID - Skin-identical hydrating ingredient - Absorbs moisture from the air into your skin! - Incredibly hydrating for dry skin - Plumps the skin making it appear more youthful - Can have adverse affects if you live in an area with low humidity (ie. not enough moisture in the air for Hylauronic Acid to absorb!) - Products containing Hylauronic Acid include Forever Young UK Hylauronic Acid Serum and Paula's Choice RESIST Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. VITAMIN C - Very popular anti-oxidant with ability to increase collagen production and brighten skin - Reduces the causation of wrinkles and protects the skin from Free Radical damage - Is acidic in nature, therefore should be used in moderation if your regime contains various other acidic ingredients such as BHAs, AHAs or Retinols. - Products containing Vitamin C are prolific and some good ones include Dr. Dennis Gross' Hydra-Pure Vitamin C Brightening Serum and Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Moisturiser. Despite my recommendations of various Paula's Choice products, I am not sponsored by them in any way. Mentioned products: RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment 10% AHA - Regular price $30.00 - http://bit.ly/1ctJBtI ("Medium strength" chemical exfoliant) RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA - Regular price $32.00 - http://bit.ly/1qYLVxi ("Medium strength") Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant - Regular price $23.00 - http://bit.ly/1gzCAcj ("Low strength") RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% Alpha Hydroxy Acid - Regular price: $28.00 - http://bit.ly/NxYcM5 ("Low strength") Paula's Choice RESIST C15 Super Booster - Regular price $45.00 - http://bit.ly/17z0Uad This is my favorite PC sunscreen: Hydralight Shine-Free SPF 30 - Regular price $24.00 - http://bit.ly/16qTQNh This is a slightly tinted, totally matte sunscreen: RESIST Super-Light SPF 30 - Regular price $27.00 - http://bit.ly/138rOl2 This is a tinted moisturizer I tried recently and really like, with the same SPF rating as the sunscreens: Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 30 - Regular price $17.00 - http://bit.ly/1eFurWT All of those sunscreens are "mineral" actives, which means they are best for inflamed/irritated skin (over "chemical", aka synthetic sunscreen actives). I do not work for Paula's Choice, so any questions/concerns/complaints about their products should be directed to their customer service department at 1-800-831-4088. They are delightful. :) I unfortunately do not have a pre-made scrub recommendation at this time. I'm doing research, and I will update this section and post on facebook if I find one I like. I always recommend rice powder and jojoba beads in general, so you can experiment with those (mixing them with your cleanser). I cannot recommend dermarollers at this time. Interesting idea, not enough information/studies. Use at your own risk. You can use low strength retinols with the protocol I described as tolerated, but I don't recommend using something like Retin A as the primary tx for scarring. Personal preference. I do not give personalized recommendations in video comments or answer private messages. It is just not feasible for me to do so. I will try my best to answer questions in future videos or in blog posts, but I regret that it is not possible to answer thousands of questions individually. Please check my back catalog of videos and facebook notes--there is a lot of information in each!

https://www.instagram.com/drdavinlim/ Instagram- more on skin care tips, reviews & me https://www.fioriinstitute.com Brisbane’s acne and skin care solutions clinic Realself reviews – if you want to know what I do http://www.realself.com/find/Australi... Google + Skin care & procedures by Dr Davin Lim https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/1139391... SKIN CARE TIPS- Treating ACNE Here are a few helpful hints to sort out your acne before seeing a dermatologist. These are all science based medical treatments that can help 90% of acne prone patients. Remember that every skin is unique, and the cause of acne is multifactorial including- oily skin, blackheads, congested skin, hormonal, diet related, stress related, using pore clogging make ups, medications and countless other factors. Hence treatments ideally should be tailored for each individual. I suggest trying these tips for at least 6 to 8 weeks before seeing a dermatologist- the exception is if you have cystic acne or scarring acne. Preventing acne scarring is a lot easier than treating acne scars. So here are my tips before seeing a medical dermatologist- 1. Your product review. Use products that contain the disclaimer ‘non- comedogenic'. This applies to all skin care products including moisturisers, sunscreen, actives, and make up. Use mineral and not an oil based foundation. Let your skin breathe 2 days a week. Your pores will thank you for it. 2. Diet changes- see my website for diet hints and down load the acne diet guide in the resources section. If you flare up with a food group- avoid it. Obviously... 3. Exfoliate- either manually twice to three times a week or with an AHA cream. Neostrata 10-15 a few nights a week can help. Be careful if you are using a retinoid. 4. Peels- BHA or salicylic acid peels are best- AHAs can also help. 5. Light treatment- Blue and red light, medical devices including Kleresca, IPL and even old fashioned 20 year old Omnilux can help. Newer LEDs are better than Omnilux as they incorporate 2 blue wavelengths rather than old generation Omlilux Blue 6. Carbon Spectra laser peels- new video out soon on this treatment, helps with early acne scars. One of the best ways to treat acne- this targets carbon within the oil gland- safe, effective with the added bonus of skin rejuvenation, all with NO downtime. That's why its called the Hollywood Peel. 7. Vitamins and tea tree oil- zinc sulfate double dose, and tea tree oil can reduce acne. Proven in many scientific journals. 8. Retinoids and retinol- start off with over the counter retinol then progress to Adapelene or first generation tretinoin. Tazorac is a third generation retinoid, most powerful. With power comes responsibility, so be careful with this. I have done 3 videos on how to incorporate retinoids into your skin care. 30 minutes of skin care tips and skin care routines. If all else fails please see a MEDICAL dermatologist for further management. Disclaimer- I am a laser and surgical dermatologist, this means I do not treat acne – just acne scarring and other forms of procedural work. The exception is if you have PIE and acne and require laser treatment. Medical dermatologist can investigate and prescribe you medication. I do not prescribe medication for acne. Why? Because my work load to too high with procedural cases, so in the best safety of the patient, monitoring through a medical dermatologist is the best practice. If you do have acne and acne scarring, I will manage your scar revision and place you on a programme to minimise your scars. At the same time I will refer you to a medical dermatologist for acne management. Alternatively visit The Fiori Institute - therapist trained by myself to manage acne and skin concerns without any prescription medications. Thanks for watching this video, one new educational video every Saturday morning, Brisbane Australia time. Dr Davin Lim. Laser and Aesthetic dermatologist.

Educational Skincare Routine, Zit Zapper, & Acne Mark Treatment
READ ME TO LEARN MORE** I grew up with horrible acne and eczema to learn that trying too many acne treatment products can over dry and leave my skin looking unhealthy. I did attend pharmacy school to develop my knowledge in skincare. Having oily skin means your pores are thirsty and will over produce sebum (oil) that can cause, and environment for bacteria to grow into a pimple so the secret is to moisturize! Over time, I learn how to manage my skin with simple acne treatment ingredients, pharmaceutical knowledge, and when to use them properly. This is my daily skin care routine video and what I do to get rid of zits for sensitive, acne prone, slowing down the aging process, and oily combination skin. I will be starting my skincare educational series to be more specific with skin types and more. Please feel free to comment any request. At Home - How To Glycolic Acid Peel
Who am I? I am an Asian girl who could not find a girl who looked like me making tutorials online. My eyes are different, my lips are different and my nose is different from the Michelle Phan's of the world. And because of this, I decided I needed to start my own channel in order to educate girls who look like me. We all deserve to look good and feel good too and there are products out there just for us. My goal? To provide useful and informative make up tutorials for the everyday South East Asian girl. And I love affordable make up that everyone can have access to. I will be doing a lot of reviews on inexpensive, accessible make up from drug stores and skin care products for girls who just don't have perfect skin. I understand your troubles. I know what it's like to have skin that is less than flawless. ---------- ***WARNING: DO NOT OVERDO IT. IF IT BURNS TOO MUCH TO TOLERATE, PLEASE NEUTRALIZE WITH BAKING SODA.*** I've always had hyperpigmentation. Whether it is from cystic acne or from scarring due to pimples breaking - I have always gotten dark spots on my face. I decided a few months ago that I had enough. I learned to do mild glycolic peels. It has helped with brightening my skin. Hope it does wonders for your skin! ZO Skin Health Offects TE Pads
Controls oiliness, breakouts and removes dead skin cells Too much sebum causes oily skin and the problems associated with it. When combined with bacteria, excess sebum will likely result in acne flare-ups, blackheads, whiteheads and enlarged pores. Offects® TE-Pads are hydrated in 2% Salicylic Acid–the highest over-the-counter concentration–which reduces sebum, exfoliates pore-clogging dead skin cells and deep-cleans congested pores. Botanical extracts calm inflammation and soothe irritation. Use for both prevention and treatment. Updated Skin Care Products and Regimen
PLEASE READ ME! Hi everyone! I wanted to fill you in on the different skin care products i've been trying and experimenting with. I don't want to fully focus on the routine since everyone has unique skin and there are so many ways to treat it. Please don't take this video as encouragement to follow the same routine and use the same products I do. Since I am so experimental, I already plan on trying a different and perhaps much more natural routine very soon. You will notice that I went a little product crazy in the past several months but that is just so I can test different things out. Skin type: Combination/Oily but mostly Oily now with a lot of large and congested pores. I used to hate having oily skin but now I embrace it. I treat my skin by ridding it of dead skin cell build up and hydrating internally and topically. Don't use harsh products or over-dry your skin even if it's oily. It will only cause it to be more oily. It is important to find the balance that your skin needs and it does take a bit of trial and error. -- Have any questions or want to chat? I don't lather it up personally, makes face feel clean and fresh, have been using in the morning to rinse off face oil.) 2:15 Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash (Doesn't contain any glycolic acid or AHA! Used with pink face cleansing pad at night.) 2:40 Sonia Kashuk Eye Makeup Remover (Must shake before applying to cotton ball/pad and gently wipe away eye makeup, dissolves waterproof mascara well) 2:59 Pond's Original Wet Cleansing Towelettes (I prefer the Walgreens brand or anything that has more texture to it.) 3:37 Dickinson's Witch Hazel (Refreshing and nondrying on my oily skin. Those with dry or sensitive skin may want to try this with caution. Can also dilute it.) 5:08 Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic AHA Anti-Wrinkle (pH 4 and fragrance-free, can be used day and night but I only use at night as an exfoliant for soft supple skin in the morning) 5:52 St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control (Use about once a week--massage on face very gently!) 6:46 Mint Julep Masque (I use this to dry up those pesky whiteheads/pimples!) 7:19 Phillips' Milk of Magnesia (Can help to mattify and control shine but I personally do not recommend for everyday as it causes imbalance to the skin.) 8:50 Embryolisse Cream (Moisturizer and primer in one. Takes a bit of time to sink into skin but works well. Find it to be a little heavy in the warmer season.) 9:15 Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream (Very light almost liquidy consistency that sinks into the skin quickly and makes it feel very supple. My skin really drinks it up and loves it!) 10:04 Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (Very hydrating for around the eyes!) 10:34 Neutrogena All-in-1 Acne Control Facial Treatment (Contains 1% salicylic acid and is meant to help fade past acne marks, clear breakouts, and prevent future breakouts.) 11:42 Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream spf38 PA+++ (My form of daily sun protection if I am not using any other spf. If using other spf I use this as my oil control base on top of the t-zone before applying makeup.) Body Breakouts (spotty bottom solutions) - Nadine Baggott
Ok Beauty Confession Time - who else suffers from a spotty bottom? Especially at this time of year when you have been sitting around in a damp bikini or swimming costume? It's not just me right? It can't be ... I suffer all year round to be honest and am convinced it's because I spend too much time sitting on my backside writing about and talking about beauty and skincare. Anyway over the years I have worked out what works and what doesn't, and it's a combination of BHA Salicylic Acid to get rid of the blemish and Glycolic AHA acid to smooth the skin afterwards and lessen the purple scars and marks. I prefer gels because I like to control where the acid goes (ahem down there) and these work on ingrown bikini line hairs too. * Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Clinical Gel £20 - http://www.clinique.co.uk/product/1672/29793/skin-care/anti-blemish-solutions/treatment-specialists/anti-blemish-solutionstm-clinical-clearing-gel?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-ShoppingFeed-_-Anti-BlemishSolutions-_-TreatmentSpecialists&gclid=CjwKCAjw5uTMBRAYEiwA5HxQNto5Pgcy6WuzOMomxChhJP_7s3XAU661U3GTGc8xG0zIVJv-i2LJEhoCk3QQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=COyKmu-a5tUCFTMw0wodFoUM9A Origins Spot Remover Gel £15 -http://www.origins.co.uk/product/15351/18374/skincare/treat/banish-breakouts/super-spot-remover/blemish-treatment-gel?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-ShoppingFeed-_-treat-_-banishbreakouts&gclid=CjwKCAjw5uTMBRAYEiwA5HxQNuvUsM0WH5--h2KT6Fji5JhKq-ACz7XW81hT7L9zxAHlLCfogWyAghoCI0AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CO3D_vya5tUCFe8R0wod--wCDw Paula's Choice 10% Weekly AHA £30 -https://www.paulaschoice.co.uk/resist-anti-aging-weekly-resurfacing-treatment-aha-full-size-7650.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5uTMBRAYEiwA5HxQNoEp8eHZKws2m2tkkUgemBl5A3pudyKdF3TC93OuRM6EJBjvwr8mcRoCRpUQAvD_BwE The Ordinary Weekly Peel 30% AHA 2% BHA £6.30 - http://theordinary.com/product/rdn-aha-30pct-bha-2pct-peeling-solution-30ml Follow Me: * Twitter * https://twitter.com/nadinebaggott * Instagram * https://www.instagram.com/nadinebaggott/ * Facebook * https://www.facebook.com/NadineBaggot... RETIN-A NOT WORKING? THIS COULD BE WHY Hello, love! Cody here with Montarbo Skincare. Always here to help YOU have the most healthy, glowing and gorgeous skin possible. Hey guys just a friendly reminder to follow your product's instruction. There is some controversy with using more than a pea size of RA. I use more than a pea size amount but if you are just starting off, use as directed and always follow your Doctors recommendations. Less is more and be safe. Some believe that RA travels into the blood stream which is why a peas size amount is always recommended. However, If you started off with .025 then went up to .01% you would, in fact, be absorbing more into the skin. If you came into my office and we did a Retinol facial or peel, I'd use up to 3% on you. So I think there is room here for caution and being open minded and willing to go beyond the normal recommendations if you are safe and don't use daily. Each to their own. Do what you feel is right for you and away be safe. NEW STORE: http://montarboskincarestore.com/ Today's video is all about why your Retin-A might not be working. After answering so many Retin-A questions, I thought it would be easier to address one of the biggest questions I get about Retin-A not working in the video. Retin-a is a very active agent and medicine that often causes irritation and redness. Those who have thicker or more oily skin, often need to use more than directed and with a higher percentage. Another main reason it could not be working is that the Retin-A you are using is fake and not a real Retin-A formulation. This can happen when you buy stuff online and from other countries. It happens all the time. Many online Retin-a products often do not contain enough active agent or a minimal amount if at all. You need to be very careful with your research and online purchases.
