Dangers Of Taking Ciprofloxacin

03:40
A doctor that prescribes Ciprofloxacin didn't know that the very debilitating side effects would happen to him when he took it. I am making this post because I know 2 people that were recently prescribed Ciprofloxacin for their colds. DON'T TAKE IT. Both had very bad side affects. Fluoroquinolones can lead to arrhythmias. This is especially important if using levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin with amiodarone. You're not sick... You're being poisoned. Seek natural remedies and stay away from prescription meds whenever possible. Sometimes you can't avoid them, But research what you put in your body. Don't just blindly trust doctors. As you can see in this video. This doctor was also unaware of the dangers. I hope this post saves somebody's life. #4biddenknowledge

Antibiotic Body Damage Recovery (Levaquin Cipro Side Effects and How I Healed)

09:06
It is my opinion only, that the damage these antibiotics are causing to people's bodies may be partially or fully due to the drug's destruction of crucially important healthy forms of bacteria in the gut. This, along with leaky gut which I believe is epidemic, may cause both a fungal version of yeast called candida to breach the barrier in the gut, and give the immune system a particularly difficult time managing it, as well as oxalate to also permeate the entire body causing a potential double-whammy that if addressed, may reverse the condition. Lots to be pissed off about with this situation. But one biggie is in how people are being told this condition is permanent. Although I believe it can be difficult to reverse, I believe it is entirely possible if approached from the above theoretical standpoint. That is how I approached it, and have had tremendous results. See my programs as well as the free info over at http://MaintenanceMotions.com. If you have some organic expeller-pressed coconut oil...or oil of your choice according to options available via Ayurvedic tradition...I'd give oil pulling a try, sticking with it for a solid few months. I have found it to be incredibly effective for joint/tendon issues, with dietary change, gut health with probiotics, and candida management to offer profound improvements. I need to consistently maintain the effort, but it's a part of my lifestyle regardless. Then I added some high quality ubiquinol to assist with mitochondrial damage, and energy production. http://FacelessFatloss.com My Over 40 program: http://Over40andRipped.com And Facebook: http://facebook.com/tim.ripped Love, Happiness, Health and Peace.........Tim .

[10] Is The Antibiotic ‘Cipro’ A Prescription For Danger? ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

02:10
April 3, 2015 11:34 PM CBS New York http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2015/04/03/seen-at-11-is-the-antibiotic-cipro-a-prescription-for-danger/ Cipro is a common antibiotic that is prescribed for treating a number of bacterial infections, but some say it may be a prescription for danger. “I wanted to be a firefighter since I was a kid,” Chris Jones said. For 9 years Jones has been living that dream, but the last 5 months have been a nightmare. “My life flipped upside down,” he told CBS2’s Dick Brennan. Flipped upside down, he said, because of crippling side effects he experienced after taking the popular antibiotic Ciprofloxacin or Cipro as it is more commonly known. “I went on a walk with my dog after taking the medicine, and it felt like a bomb went off in my body,” he said. It’s pain that continued ever since, especially in his legs. “His story is so, to me, typical of many of the stories I’ve read about and looked through the FDA files on,” Dr. Charles Bennett said. Dr. Bennett is a professor of pharmacy who recently filed a petition asking the FDA to put broader warnings on Cipro. the medication is part of a class of antibiotics called quinolones, along with the drugs Levaquin and Avelox. “Doctors are not aware of the full range of toxicities that are associated with the quinolones,” Bennett said. Critics also charge that the drugs, which are so strong they can kill anthrax, are too freely prescribed for illnesses that could be treated with less powerful medications. “They haven’t done a good enough job warning the public about how dangerous this drug is,” Jones said. The FDA said it’s logged just 4,500 reports of serious side effects, an exceedingly small percentage considering 23-million prescriptions are filled each year. Drug makers already list side effects including the possibility for tendon and nerve damage on the labels. “I just don’t know if I’m going to get better or not, and no one can tell me,” Jones said. Jones is living with the pain and other side effects, which even the FDA acknowledged may be permanent in some people. “The hardest thing is not knowing,” Jones said. The FDA told CBS2 it’s continuing to monitor complaints. Bayer, the maker of Cipro, said in a statement that they encourage patients to speak with their healthcare providers regarding any symptoms that they may experience after taking a prescription product.

Side effects for this antibiotic are worse than infections it's prescribed for

02:28
The FDA just announced that it will require more warnings on the label for a class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones because the side effects they cause are worse than the actual infections they are commonly prescribed for. Side effects include permanent muscle and nerve damage, when the infections they're prescribed for usually clear up on their own, without the need of any medication. How to Deal with Antibiotic Side Effects Naturally

03:36
How to Deal with Antibiotic Side Effects For more tips see our blog: https://naturalhealthcarenhc.blogspot.com Like us in Facebook: https://goo.gl/MmjtyD Follow us on twitter: https://goo.gl/USDg3k Google plus: https://goo.gl/B5B2oz When you suffer from strep throat, an ear infection, a urinary tract infection or other common bacterial infections, the most common medication prescribed by doctors is antibiotics. Antibiotics are medicines used to treat bacterial infections. There are different types of antibiotics that work against different strains of bacteria and some types of parasites. When used properly, they either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause a particular health problem. This in turn helps your natural immune system fight the infection. But antibiotics often have side effects that cause other temporary health issues. Some common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, vaginal yeast infections, allergic reactions and inner ear problems. At the same time, excess use or misuse of antibiotics can make them ineffective, weaken your immunity, increase your cancer risk and even reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. If you experience a mild adverse reaction to a round of antibiotics, there is nothing to worry about. You can easily treat the issue naturally. For severe adverse reactions, contact your doctor immediately. Here are the top 5 ways to deal with antibiotic side effects. 1. Eat Probiotic Yogurt When taking antibiotics, it is highly recommended to include yogurt with ‘good bacteria’ in your diet. Eating yogurt that contains ‘live cultures’ (also labeled as probiotic yogurt) helps your body recover from diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotics. These live cultures are gut-friendly bacteria that provide a layer of protection in the intestines and help generate lactic acid to get bacterial toxins out of the body. 2. Eat Fermented Foods or Take a Probiotic Supplement Apart from yogurt, many fermented foods naturally contain a high amount of probiotics. So, in addition to yogurt, include kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, pickles, pickled beets, pickled turnips, pickled carrots and kimchi in your diet. 3. Eat Garlic Garlic is a natural antibiotic that helps kill harmful microbes without the side effects of antibiotic medicines. Also, it contains an important compound known as allicin that protects your kidneys and liver from the potential damage of antibiotics. 4. Take Milk Thistle Supplements Taking traditional antibiotics can be hard on your liver, which is responsible for breaking down the medications you ingest. To protect your liver from any damage due to a course of antibiotics, the herb milk thistle is very effective. The rich antioxidants in this herb help protect the liver. 5. Sip Ginger Tea Whether you suffer from diarrhea, nausea or vomiting due to prescribed antibiotics, ginger is effective in dealing with these side effects. Ginger’s natural antibiotic property helps prevent and treat many health problems caused by bacteria. Fresh ginger has an antibiotic effect against food-borne pathogens as well as respiratory and periodontal infections. Never take antibiotics unless your doctor feels they are necessary.

Side Effects of Fluoroquinolones

02:06
Which antibiotic should you try to avoid taking, if possible…next Side effects of fluoroquinolones far more disabling than other antibiotics, experts say Idelle Davidson writing in the Washington Post reported on the side effects of fluoroquinolones, noting that levofloxacin ranked third “in the number of serious adverse event reports submitted directly to the Food and Drug Administration in 2013,” while ciprofloxacin, another fluoroquinolone, ranked fifth, according to the Institute for Safe Medication Practices. Experts say that fluoroquinolones “can be far more disabling than other antibiotics” because of the life-altering nature of their side effects, which include tendon rupture, disabling peripheral neuropathy or permanent nerve damage to the arms and legs, eye disorders, psychiatric and nervous system disorders, seizures, ringing in the ears, and burning and tingling sensations. Comment: I have seen a number of tendon issues associated with these fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Ciprofloxacin or Cipro, Cipro XR, Cetraxal, Ciloxan (dosing, side effects, patient counseling)

03:36
Your Medication Ciprofloxacin Ciprofloxacin is also known by the brand names: Cipro, Cipro XR, Cetraxal, and Ciloxan ciprofloxacin, also known by the brand name: Cipro and Cipro XR. Ciprofloxacin comes in 250, 500 and 750 mg tables; 250 mg/5 mL and 500 mg/5 mL oral suspension, and an extended release formulation of 500 and 1000 mg. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic most commonly used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. Do not take this drug with dairy products, like milk or yogurt, or calcium rich juices. Take ciprofloxacin at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after antacids, sucarlfate, quinapril, bismuth, multivitamins, or any other products that contain magnesium, calcium, aluminum, iron, or zinc. If upset stomach occurs take ciprofloxacin with food. If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you think about it. Some common side effects with ciprofloxacin include headache, upset stomach, diarrhea and sun burning more easily. Some less common side effects with ciprofloxacin include ringing in the ears, tendon rupture (greater in people over the age of 60), nerve problems and nervous system problems. (Flash on screen this is not a complete list of side effects) Do not take ciprofloxacin if: you have myasthenia gravis. While taking Ciprofloxacin, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have: • Signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, tightness of the chest, etc.) • An allergy to ciprofloxacin. • If you pain, bruising, or swelling in the back of the ankle, shoulder, hand, or other joints. • If you are unable to move or bear weight on a joint, hear or feel a snap or pop. • If you develop nerve problems such as not being able to handle heat or cold, changes in sense of touch, burning, numbness, tingling, pain or weakness in the arms, heads, legs or feet. • If you develop nervous system problems such as anxiety, bad dreams, trouble sleeping, changes in eyesight, dizziness, feeling confused, nervous, agitated, restless or experience hallucinations. • If you develop a rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs that could be signs of an allergic reaction. • If your symptoms do not get better or if they worsen, call your doctor. Ciprofloxacin liquid needs to be stored in the refrigerator and shaken well before each dose is given. Use the measuring device received from the pharmacist or doctor. Any liquid remaining after 14 days needs to be thrown away. All other forms of Ciprofloxacin are kept at room temperature, in a dry place. Thank you for watching and remember to tell your doctor and pharmacist about your health problems, all drugs including over the counter drugs, natural products, and vitamins for your safety before starting a new drug. Do not stop, start, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

The Ciprofloxacin Song (I'm still wasted.)

03:17
Four days later, I'm still wasted. Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/ashleycarey Website! http://www.ashleycarey.net Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ashley-... Lyrics - Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic chemotheraputic antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class. It is a second-generation fluoroquinolone antibacterial, interferes with bacterias DNA enzymes They cant re-wind Which stops DNA and protein synthesis. Are you sure doc? This stuff is chemo. I mean I know Im peeing blood and throwing up but you said it should clear up, its an infection. Overreaction. You worry too much. 500mg should be the magic touch, here you go. Hey pharmacist, thanks for the pills. Is there anything I should know? Yes there is, take them twice a day till they're gone. You're good to go. Is that all? Well I guess not. Take them eight hours apart, keep a close eye on your heart, it may race, pale your face, and by the way - no sunshine or antacids and you probably shouldn't drive, have a nice day! Ciprofloxacin, you've really done me in. If I hadn't read your drug insert I mighta wrote a will. I cant see straight, stay up too late, whose idea was it to sell me an untested chemo pill? Day one wasn't too fun, I felt allergic to the sun. Double-vision made me nauseous causing midnight bathroom runs. Day two, symptoms grew, hallucinated rainbows, knew I was in trouble, when seeing double, almost made me walk into oncoming traffic. Day three terrified me, hands shaking, heart racing, called the doctor and he said I could stop taking it! Although quinolones are highly toxic to mammalian cells in culture, its mechanism of cytotoxic action is not known. Debate continues as to whether DNA damage is something that this drug does to people. Dear Bayer, Im glad the system works for you you work hard, and no ones saying thats not true But you've had 13 whole years, while scores of side effects appear To find out if your drug makes DNA in humans stop rewinding too. $242 million in profit seems to be enough to do another test to put these dangers to rest. In fact, and Bayer, no offense to you, I think there should be laws requiring you to.

What Has Helped My Recovery From Cipro Poisoning - Emotional & Psychological Effects

39:23
Please do not take fluoroquinolone antibiotics unless they are a last resort. Fluoroquinolones should never be prescribed as a first line antibiotic for minor infections, but this is a widespread practise. Physicians and pharmacists must be educated on the dangers of these drugs! Please note: I'm not advocating the use of marijuana for others, just sharing something that has helped me in the past to overcome the damaging emotional and psychological effects of Cipro. Marijuana should be used only in certain cases and for a limited amount of time, just until symptoms have cleared. Marijuana can also have damaging effects on the system (especially with long-term or daily use) and should be researched before trying. My point is that it is generally a safer form of medicine that pharmaceuticals and can be used in place of them if they are being used for things like sleeplessness, nausea, headaches, anxiety, etc. However, the best case scenario is that we do not need any medicines to be healthy and to feel good living on Planet Earth, including marijuana! :-) Correction: Fluoroquinolone antibiotics have been infused with fluorine, rather than fluoride. I believe it is all similar in chemical structure. I was poisoned by Cipro, produced by Bayer, in December 2009. These are some of the things that have helped me in my recovery process. [8] Devastating side effects prompt local push to ban antibiotic ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

03:31
NBC Charlotte 6:09 a.m. EST February 25, 2015 http://www.wcnc.com/story/news/health/2015/02/24/devastating-side-effects-prompt-local-push-to-ban-antibiotic/23977183/ It is a commonly prescribed antibiotic-- doctors offer it for everything from urinary tract infections to sinus infections. But a local mom is pushing to get Levaquin off the shelves after she suffered devastating side effects. And a drug watchdog group is pushing the FDA for tougher warning labels. Shannon Myers is trying to slyly wrap his Valentine's day gift for wife Adrienne. The two are very much in love and very much a team– no matter what. "Every day you push through it, you push through it because you have to," Adrienne says. Adrienne endures grueling physical therapy several times a week; the 36-year-old mother of two struggles to walk. "It's very painful for me, just because my Achilles hurts really bad, so in order for me to not lose strength in my legs, I have to do this. I just have to bear the pain." It started last summer. Adrienne was diagnosed with a sinus infection; doctors prescribed Levaquin, the brand name for a drug called Levofloaxacin. A few days into the prescription she says, "I started having issues with my legs-- my legs hurt, they burn, felt like I walked up hill all day, my feet hurt, I had problems with my eyes, my vision started becoming kind of blurred." It took three months and four doctors to come up with a diagnosis. Dr. Ki Jung, Adrienne's neurologist, says the Levaquin caused tendinopathy and peripheral neuropathy. He says he helped rule other things out and worked on a timeline to figure out what happened. Jung says, "I told Adrienne, let's put a timeline to this and see where we are and then see if we can tease out any correlations; that's really where we were able to get to the notion that this was a Levaquin problem." "So basically the drug attacked her nerves and tendons?" "Correct, in terms of a side effect profile." Adrienne was shocked. "He said unfortunately you have nerve damage from taking Levaquin." Dr. Charles Bennett chairs a drug watchdog agency at the University of South Carolina. He was not at all surprised to hear Adrienne's story. "I'm not surprised. I've been working on this for years. This woman is a story that's replicated in city after city, case after case." He recently petitioned the FDA for new, what's called black box warnings for Levaquin, those are bold warnings meant to grab your attention. The FDA already required black box warnings in 2008, warning of possible tendon rupture and muscle weakness. And in 2013 the FDA required a label change warning of nerve damage. Bennett says the FDA's own stats show 1200 people have died and nearly 100,000 have suffered side effects from Levaquin or Levofloaxcin. "Thankfully it's not life threatening for me. I'm very fortunate that it has not been a life threatening thing for me, so I think about the positive and hopefully my nerves will regenerate themselves and become healthy again," Adrienne says. Her husband Shannon just wishes he could take away her pain. "It makes you wish, just like anybody you love, you could go back and do something about it. Like wish you had more time, researched more, maybe take it off her shoulders a little bit and put it on yours." NBC Charlotte reached out to Levaquin for a statement. They responded Tuesday evening: "LEVAQUIN® (levofloxacin) Tablets is part of an important class of anti-infective prescription medications that have been used for more than 20 years to treat infections, including those that may be serious or life threatening. When used according to the product labeling, LEVAQUIN® has been proven to have a favorable benefit-risk profile." The best advice: ask your doctor and your pharmacist to go over the possible side effects of this drug-- or any other for that matter, and if you have concerns, ask for an alternative.

The FDA orders a prominent "black box" warning and the development of new literature for patients emphasizing the risks. The most prominent risk is tendon rupture causing long term disability, possibly permanent. This is an important first step to ensuring these antibiotics are only used when the patient faces a potential fatal outcome, and only after the use of all other antibiotics have been ruled out. This is not due to the probability of risk, but rather severity. To those who have been affected, prognosis is normally not good. There is no cure. Often repeat exposure through food and water cause a continual never ending cycle of symptoms. Many victims face the fact that their lives have been completely destroyed. Many face loss of job and income, some face breakup of the family. Some have even committed suicide because of the pain inflicted by these drugs. Unfortunately, physicians currently give these prescriptions out like candy. To emphasize the ignorance of physicians, Cipro is often prescribed post-op for tendon repair surgery. The physician will often prescribe a drug known to cause tendon rupture as a preventive to infection after tendon repair surgery. There is an obvious neglect on the part of the physicians who simply do not known the potential dangers of the drugs they prescribe. So where is the breakdown of information? Unfortunately many physicians mistakenly rely on pharmaceutical drug reps to point out any potential side effects rather than investigating it themselves. Further implicating the physicians, they accept gifts from drug companies and in return will prescribe unnecessary and dangerous substances. Drug Reps, paid on commission, find themselves making more sales by not disclosing the dangers, or make light of potential side effects. Making the problem worse, the drug manufactures trivialize and distort the potential risks. A pending U.S. Senate bill would require drug companies to report gifts to doctors of more than $25. New York State's legislature plans to hold hearings this year on the relationship between doctors and drug companies. One congressional critic has even compared the drug industry with the tobacco industry, and Senator John McCain has called drugmakers the "bad guys." LEVAQUIN CRIPPLES & KILLS (Cipro & Avelox too!)

A Duluth woman says a popular antibiotic killed her husband. Beware of ALL fluoroquinolone antibiotics including Levaquin, Cipro & Avelox! As little as one pill can cripple a formally healthy, active individual for life. Doctors largely deny this fact while the FDA chooses to look the other way. Don't let it happen to you!

Levaquin Tendonitis

04:09
https://www.TendonitisExpert.com/levaquin-tendonitis.html Levaquin Tendonitis is NOT regular tendonitis. The Levaquin antibiotic, a member of the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics (along with Cipro, Avelox, Levofloxacin, etc) attack a person's connective tissue structures and can even cause DNA damage. If you are suffering from Levaquin side effects, you MUST educate yourself about how Levaquin works and how to give your body it's best chance at being able to recover.

[9] Popular antibiotics could cause permanent damage ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

03:15
ABC 10 News 6:12 AM, Nov 24, 2014 http://www.10news.com/news/investigations/patients-experts-popular-antibiotics-could-cause-permanent-damage-11242014 For Jenny Frank, it started with a small white pill she took nearly four years ago. "I was prescribed Levaquin for a strep infection," she said. "I can't compare myself to the person I was in December in 2010." Levaquin is one of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics on the market. Frank said it left her with persistent, painful and long-term side effects that affected her both physically and mentally. She recalls one moment as the scariest of her life. "About three weeks after I had stopped taking it, I started typing on the computer," Frank said. "When I looked at what I had written it wasn't even words." The science teacher said it was "gibberish." So, Frank deleted what she wrote and tried again. "Same thing… it was just random letters and numbers and things," she said. When asked what she was thinking, Frank said, "I can't even put a sentence together. Oh my god. Am I going to lose my job?" New warnings needed? Levaquin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It is one of the most potent antibiotics approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is prescribed millions of times a year. Experts said that most Americans will take Levaquin in their lifetime. Team 10's investigative partners at ABC 15 in Phoenix spoke to researchers and patients across the country who believe that Levaquin carries more serious side effects than are listed on the label. They have filed a pair of citizen petitions this year asking the FDA to add new warnings to the label for a long list of psychiatric side effects ranging from depression to hallucinations and also something called "mitochondrial toxicity." In simple terms, researchers say that means it could alter and damage the body's cells. Dr. Charles Bennett helped write the citizen petitions filed with the FDA. Bennett, who says he has successfully petitioned the FDA before, is with the South Carolina College of Pharmacy and the Southern Network on Adverse Reactions (SONAR). He said he has been analyzing the effects of Levaquin and other fluoroquinolones for three years. Bennett said thousands of people have reported psychiatric side effects to the FDA. He also pointed to a 2013 FDA review of six different fluoroquinoles, including Levaquin, that raised the possibility of mitochondrial toxicity. Team 10 has also learned that full studies are underway at UC San Diego and the University of Rochester to look into these side effects. Experts: Overuse leads to added risk Frank is part of the fight to add new warnings to the label. "There's no reason why anyone should have to go through this if there are safer antibiotics that could be used," she said. "This should be a last resort. Not a first line of defense." It is a feeling shared by Dr. Ray Woosley, founder of CredibleMeds and a medication safety expert. He believes Levaquin and other fluoroquinolones are overprescribed. "The FDA put out a call two years ago that says don't overuse these drugs, but they continue to be overused," Woosley said. "It's like the wild west out there." Here is an example: During the anthrax mail attacks in 2001, victims were prescribed the fluoroquinolone Ciprofloxacin. "They are very potent antibiotics," Woosley said. "We can't take them off the market. We have got to have them available for whom they are lifesaving." But Woosley said that is also why these antibiotics should not be prescribed for things like sinus infections or prostatitis, like Tony Woods. Woods was prescribed Ciprofloxacin for a possible prostate infection two years ago. "There was no evidence I had an infection," said Woods, "He just wanted to treat me for what he thought was an infection." Woods took the pills for 19 days. "I started having extreme burning in my limbs, sensitivity to light, my eyes, my hearing, everything just felt rearranged," he said. "I couldn't smell or taste." The father of four was bedridden for months. "It's horrible," Woods said. "You go to bed thinking you are going to die … who's going to provide for my family?" Woods' attorney, John Fiske, said his firm, John Gomez Trial Attorneys, has been getting hundreds of calls a week from people who have taken these drugs. Fiske said the maker of Levaquin, Johnson & Johnson, faces a product liability lawsuit over side effects of the drug that allegedly caused peripheral neuropathy for one woman. The complaint was filed in August in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Fiske expects more to be filed against the makers of these drugs. "These are some of the most widely prescribed drugs in the world," said Fiske.

[3] Popular Antibiotic May Be Causing Permanent Damage ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

02:01
WSET-TV Mar 30, 2015 11:03 PM Lynchburg, VA - Popular antibiotics used to treat common infections may be causing permanent damage. Fluoroquinolones have been at the center of more than 2-thousand lawsuits in the past year. They are among the most commonly prescribed antibiotics. Levaquin and Cipro are the big ones, and are used to treat everything from anthrax to a simple sinus or urinary track infection. "The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, which can happen with any antibiotics" said Stephanie Puckett, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Centra. Yet unlike other antibiotics, Fluoroquinolones come with a special 'black box' warning. That's the FDA's strictest warning, alerting patients of the possible nerve and tendon damage the antibiotic can cause. "I would consider the Fluoroquinolones a very strong or potent class of antibiotics because they do cover a large variety of organisms" said Puckett. But patients around the country say these prescription drugs carry more serious side effects than are listed on the label, including psychological effects. They have banded together on the Facebook page "The Fluoroquinolone Wall of Pain", to push the FDA for stronger warnings. Group member Wayne Smith says he only took Levaquin for 3 days and suffered from "depression from hell, crying all day and night for no reason at all… Panic attacks, 24/7 anxiety that would not stop." Similarly Lana Kennedy says she was "in a state of extreme confusion & began experiencing severe panic attacks" after taking Cipro. Patients filed a citizen's petition asking the FDA to expand its warning on Fluoroquinolones. The new warning would include other reported side effects like damage to mitochondria in cells and psychological effects. The FDA says "they are considering the matters raised by the petition and giving it [their} careful attention."
These Antibiotics Cause Nerve Damage And Lifelong Disability

02:23
These Antibiotics Cause Nerve Damage And Lifelong Disability The Fluoroquinolones are a group of antibiotics that are usually prescribed for urinary tract infections and respiratory infections, but these antibiotic can cause serious nerve damage. These antibiotics were given to more than 23 million patients in 2011. Fluoroquinolones include: Ofloxacin (Floxin) Norfloxacin (Noroxin) Moxifloxacin (Avelox) Levofloxacin (Levaquin) Gemifloxacin(Factive) Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) The FDA required an update on the labels of these drugs, their side effects of peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy This antibiotic kills the bacteria that cause the illness. But according to new research, the risks of these medications are more than the benefits of it. Peripheral neuropathy is when the nerves which send the information are damaged. This damage disables the connection. People with peripheral neuropathy can feel numbness, burning pain in the legs or the arms and tingling. These medications can cause long-lasting damage to the nerves and this can lead to disability. They can get into the blood-brain barrier and this leads to getting into the brain and damaging the central nervous system. In 2010 Levaquin was the most selling antibiotic and by 2011 had more than 2000 lawsuits from patients. SYMPTOMS AND SIDE EFFECTS You will feel the symptoms after only a few days, and you should contact medical help immediately. The symptoms are: Tingling Numbness Burning Weakness Rupture and tendon damage Shooting pains Confusion Muscle and joint pain Hallucinations NATURAL TREATMENT For sinus infection drink a lot of water and teas. You can prepare a natural remedy with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. And for UTI you must also drink water and teas and take probiotics like kefir, yogurt, kombucha etc. Watch the video for more information.

Critical Basics of Levaquin Tendonitis

11:36
Levaquin Tendonitis is not the same thing as 'regular' tendonitis. Fluoroquinolones like levaquin, levofloxacin, cipro, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, avelox, moxifloxacin, etc, cause all sort of symptoms including tendon pain, muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle spasms/twitches/cramps, joint pain, symptoms that look/feel like regular tendonitis symptoms. But tendonitis from Levaquin is an entirely different animal than regular tendinitis. Fluoroquinolone toxicity is one result. Nutritional depletion is another. Mitochondrial damage and DNA damage or worse results. If you took levaquin or cipro and have tendonitis symptoms, you also have nutritional depletion (definitely) and quite possibly also have connective tissue mitochondria damage, and worse than that, connective tissue DNA damage. Also, if you have tendon pain (your tendon is affected), you MAY also have damage to connective tissue around any other joint(s) in the body, to the connective tissue in/around organs (including the brain), and possibly to the connective tissue around nerves. Levaquin tendonitis is bad news, and isn't really tendonitis. Find out more at https://www.TendonitisExpert.com/levaquin-tendonitis.html

Consumer adviser Clark Howard Almost Killed By Popular Antibiotic Cipro - WSB 23-05-2017

02:40
Consumer adviser Clark Howard is speaking out about the mysterious sudden illness that threatened his life. The same disease killed a Gwinnett County man. He and Clark had each taken a powerful antibiotic only days before falling ill. https://youtu.be/ZTWbhjQ-iEI Channel 2 Consumer Investigator Jim Strickland exposed the side effects of the drugs 2 1/2 years ago. https://twitter.com/JStricklandWSB Clark was admitted to Piedmont Hospital three days after taking the generic antibiotic ciprofloxacin. The brand name is Cipro. He took it to ward off an infection after a biopsy to monitor his prostate cancer. RELATED INVESTIGATIONS: Woman says popular antibiotic levofloxacin killed her husband http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/woman-says-popular-antibiotic-levofloxacin-killed-/53779006 FDA requires new labels on popular antibiotic after Channel 2 investigation http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/fda-requires-new-labels-on-popular-antibiotic-after-channel-2-investigation/287282398 Patients suffer devastating side effects from popular antibiotic http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/patients-suffer-devastating-side-effects-popular-a/53805880 There's no proof that what happened next is linked to the pill, but Strickland’s research found that it's happened before. “I felt like death,” Clark said. “It was a struggle to walk five steps.” Clark was admitted to Piedmont and used IVs to flush his system. He said a doctor with 40 years’ experience determined he had rhabdomyolysis. “With rhabdo, your muscles are eating themselves, and then they destroy your kidneys and you die,” Clark said. That's what happened to Gwinnett triathlete Chris Dannelly in 2013. The disease killed him in five days after he took three pills of ciprofloxacin's sister drug, levofloxacin. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/local-woman-says-popular-antibiotic-killed-her-hus/54041156 Clark said Piedmont doctors have a working theory that the antibiotic combined with his cholesterol pill, was a bad mix. “The generic Lipitor acted as a catalyst. That caused the supposed problems with Cipro to magnify and give me the rhabdomyolysis,” Clark said. Ten months ago, doctors in Scotland published a similar case involving the two types of pills and a case of rhabdo. Their conclusion: the consequences of this interaction can have potentially serious outcomes. Clark said he plans to ask about a substitute pill. “Even not knowing for sure whether Cipro was a villain in this or not, why would I want to be dead?” Clark said. Clark's cancer doctor is also his cousin. Dr. Skip Holden said that Clark has had Cipro before with no issues and that he uses it because the risk of infection with that biopsy is so great. He presented Clark's case to 50 other doctors at UCLA Medical Center. See also: Fluoroquinolones and Statins: A Recipe for Rhabdomyolysis - WSB 03-02-2015 https://youtu.be/ZTWbhjQ-iEI

How to Deal with Antibiotic Side Effects | Home remedies to get rid of Antibiotic Side Effects

02:21
How to Deal with Antibiotic Side Effects | Home remedies to get rid of Antibiotic Side Effects When you suffer from strep throat, an ear infection, a urinary tract infection or other common bacterial infections, the most common medication prescribed by doctors is antibiotics. Antibiotics are medicines used to treat bacterial infections. There are different types of antibiotics that work against different strains of bacteria and some types of parasites. 1. Eat Probiotic Yogurt. 2. Eat Garlic. Garlic is a natural antibiotic that helps kill harmful microbes without the side effects of antibiotic medicines. Also, it contains an important compound known as allicin that protects your kidneys and liver from the potential damage of antibiotics. 3. Sip Ginger Tea. Whether you suffer from diarrhea, nausea or vomiting due to prescribed antibiotics, ginger is effective in dealing with these side effects. 4. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties that help fight harmful bacteria in your body. Also, it is a good remedy for controlling diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotic medicine. 5. Eat Bland Foods. Eating bland foods are easy to digest and help give rest to your gastrointestinal tract, thus allowing it to recover from the strong actions of antibitoics. This is important since antibiotics destroy bad as well as good bacteria. The Dangers of Antibiotics – Clarithromycin / Ciprofloxacin – How Antibiotics Destroyed My Life

01:12:30
In November 2014 and April 2015, I was severely impacted by two different sets of antibiotics. These antibiotics were Clarithromycin (Biaxin) and Ciprofloxacin (Ciprodex). I have made this video to share my story and to help others adversely affected by antibiotics. In the video I discuss my life prior to the antibiotics, the actual incidents, and my current state of affairs. I share things that have helped me along over the past 3 years and speak about potential better days ahead. Please help me spread the word about the dangers of antibiotics, particularly macrolide antibiotics such as Clarithromycin (Biaxin) and fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin (Ciprodex). Too many unsuspecting people are being severely injured, permanently disabled or worse, killed, by these extremely potent antibiotics. It's time to send a message to pharmaceutical companies, doctors, pharmacists and regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada, that poisoning the masses will no longer be tolerated in our society. But then levaquin symptoms can last for months, years, decades, a lifetime, and rarely will you find a good explanation for that. But there is no mystery to either the immediate side effects of levaquin nor the long lasting (and progressively worsening) symptoms of levaquin even when Levaquin has long been out of the body. When you speak to your doctor and don't get any good answers or solutions, it's time to educate yourself. What causes side effects of levofloxacin, levaquin, avelox, cipro, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, etc? Why do levaquin symptoms last so long (months to forever). How do you get rid of symptoms from levaquin? Find out more at https://www.TendonitisExpert.com/levaquin-side-effects.html

[13] Local Doctors Explain Risks Of Taking Levaquin ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

Website link: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2015/04/07/local-doctors-explain-risks-of-taking-levaquin/ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CBSPittsburgh April 7, 2015 5:45 PM on CBS Pittsburgh PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some swear by them, others say they’re dangerous – if not deadly. KDKA-TV health editor Dr. Maria Simbra explains why some are calling for a closer look at a certain group of antibiotics. From time-to-time, Janice Olszewski’s mother, Mary, needs to take antibiotics for urinary tract infections. “She gets very weak, she gets sick. Sometimes, she’ll get disoriented,” Olszewski said. Her doctor prescribed a medicine called Levaquin. “He said it would help clear the infection, and we should get fairly quick results with it. It’s been a Godsend for us,” Olszewski said. “If it wouldn’t be for Levaquin, we’d have a hard time managing her health care. “I’d say 20-30 times a year, we give a prescription for levofloxacin,” Dr. Marc Itskowitz of Allegheny General Hospital’s Internal Medicine said. “We try to reserve it for patients who need a broader spectrum antibiotic, may have been exposed to other antibiotics and are still sick. It’s very effective in those patients.” Taking it by mouth works the same as taking it by IV. It also comes in an easy-to-swallow liquid. While it kept Janice’s mother out of the hospital, not everyone has had a good experience. Karen Paddock was taking out the garbage when she cut her leg on a broken dish in the trash bag. She got stitches, followed by infection of the skin – cellulitis. “At that point, they gave her the Levaquin antibiotics for the cellulitis,” Bob Paddock said. Six months later, she developed tendon troubles and couldn’t walk. “It was in 2003, and at that point, I’m not sure all the risks that are known today were known then,” Paddock said. After ten years of using a scooter around the house in chronic pain, at age 43, she committed suicide – four days shy of her 20th wedding anniversary. Her husband has strong hopes for all similar antibiotics. “That they either get taken off the market, or they get a whole lot harder for anybody to prescribe,” he said. Levaquin, generically known as levofloxacin, is in a class of drugs called fluoroquinolones. They work by attacking bacterial DNA, making the bacteria unable to multiply. Known risks include nerve problems and tendon rupture. Fluoroquinolones are not recommended for people taking steroids, people with a history of seizures, and people with certain heart rhythm abnormalities. Pharmaceutical watchdog Dr. Charles Bennett is trying to expand the warnings by bringing a citizen’s petition to the FDA. “I’ve been doing this work so long, that I think patients find me,” Dr. Bennett said. His focus is the rare complication of mitochondrial toxicity. You can think of mitochondria as your cells’ battery packs. Without them, your cells have no energy. He said if an event happens right after the medicine is given, that would be a reaction. He also has lab researchers who have been able to recreate symptoms in mice. “There’s a little bit of an art, rather than a science. There’s not a specific diagnostic test,” he said. He would like to expand the black box warning on Levaquin, or establish a process so that patients must sign that they understand the risks of the drug. “This would make Levaquin a little bit less attractive to use if it goes through as a black box warning,” Dr. Amesh Adalja, of the UPMC Center for Health Securit, said. This infectious disease specialist said the class of antibiotics does have a role to play, but shouldn’t be prescribed automatically. “Even if you’re prescribing penicillin, it’s something you have to do with each infection that you treat. You have to make sure is this the right bug that you’re treating, and is this the right drug that you’re using,” Dr. Adalja said. “For every patient that has been harmed by a medication, there are thousands that have been helped by it. And we don’t often hear from them,” Dr. Itskowitz said. “She’s had adverse reactions in the past to numerous drugs, so we’re always very alert to those types of reactions. And we felt the risks were minimal,” Olszewski said. Hearing from Olszewski, she’s thankful her mother had the option of Levaquin. “Within a couple of days, she starts to feel better,” she said.
[4] Dangerous side effect of popular antibiotic ( Fluoroquinolone Toxicity )

03:24
11:38 PM, Mar 26, 2015 WFTS TAMPA BAY A urinary tract infection sent Largo resident Nancy Garlow to a doctor last fall. He prescribed one of the popular antibiotics in a group known as fluoroquinolones. The pain hit on day five. Garlow claims she read the drug insert but only after severe side effects took over and she could barely walk. She said no one mentioned these pills carry a black box warning – the FDA's strongest – regarding "serious nerve damage" and debilitating pain. Seven months later, Galow says she remains too sick to return to work. In Sarasota, Dr. Susan Tannenbaum said she's spent the last 12 months putting her life back together. A bout of bronchitis led to a prescription for another popular fluoroquinolone, levofloxacin, whose brand name is Levaquin. By day seven she was unable to get out of bed. Dr. Tannenbaum describes being in the kind of pain that left her barely able to move and it lasted for months. Dr. Charles Bennett who heads up South Carolina's drug watchdog agency says he’s concerned about the number of people who’ve suffered devastating side effects. FDA documents show they've received 1,200 reported deaths related to Levaquin and its generic levofloxacin between 1997 and 2012. Dr. Bennett said only 1 percent of adverse effects are reported to the FDA. Last summer Dr. Bennett filed a petition with the FDA for stronger warnings about more of Levaquin's side effects, including those on the brain. The FDA upgraded its nerve damage warning in 2013 on all fluoroquinolones. Dr. Tennenbaum said she is proof it is not enough. We asked the FDA about the petition. They responded via email: "The FDA takes concerns raised about safety of approved drugs very seriously and we are considering the matters raised by the petition and giving it our careful attention." Johnson & Johnson, the makers of Levaquin, told us it monitors the safety of all of their medicines and incorporates new data into their labels so doctors and patients can make informed decisions. Here is the company’s statement in full. Statement from Janssen: At Janssen, our first priority is the well-being of the people who use our medicines. We are aware of the Citizen Petition and we are evaluating it. LEVAQUIN® (levofloxacin) is part of the important fluoroquinolone class of anti-infective prescription medications that have been used for more than 20 years to treat infections, including those that may be serious or life threatening. All medicines, including LEVAQUIN®, have both benefits and risks. We continually collect and monitor information on the safety and effectiveness of all our medicines, and, in cooperation with the US FDA and other health authorities, we incorporate new data into our product labels so doctors and patients can make informed decisions. Ever since it was first approved by the FDA in 1996, the LEVAQUIN® label has provided information to physicians on the risks and benefits associated with the medication, including warnings and precautions.

Recovering from Antibiotics

05:31
“How to recover from antibiotics.” – What does that mean? If you’ve been treated with a course of antibiotics for a long or a short time, or if you’ve been using food that has antibiotics in it, without you knowing, or if you’ve been misusing antibiotics in any way, you might start to have health problems. You might suffer from certain complaints that will make your life a little bit more difficult. Side Effects of Antibiotics Let me discuss the complaints that you might have from use of antibiotics. The most affected organs would probably be your intestines. That’s because the antibiotics are going to kill the bacterial flora, which is the friendly bacteria in your intestines that is responsible for digestion and making vitamin K, which is important for you. So, you will notice that you’re having trouble in your gut, so, you will start to have bloating, gas, irregular bowel movement, so, you will have constipation, then diarrhea and then bloating again and so on. You might also suffer from heartburn and feeling generally unwell. You might also start to notice bleeding from the gums or from the nose. That’s also related to the lack of vitamin K. You might also suffer from yeast infections, which is a fungal infection that can be anywhere on your body, either on your skin or in your mouth or in the genital area. All that is because your bacteria flora – the friendly bacteria in the gut – has been affected by the antibiotics. So, what we need to do now is correct the level of bacterial flora in your gut. How do we do that? First of, you will need to lead a healthy lifestyle. So, you drink a lot of water. Avoid bad foods. Bad foods are rich in sugar, carbohydrates that are unhealthy, like pasta, packed foods, processed foods – these are all unhealthy foods. Instead of that you should eat vegetables, fruits, grains, healthy fats (that’s vegetable oils mainly). Probiotics and Prebiotics You can also use probiotics. These are very healthy foods that are fermented, so that helps the growth of the good bacteria in the gut. Probiotics are mainly: yogurt, kefir and yeast. If you are suffering from any problems with kefir or yeast, I would suggest that you take it slowly. So you start with very small amounts, like one spoon a day, and then increase it gradually. If you go to the shop and want to buy probiotics, look for the name lactobacillus on it – that’s the good bacteria for you. You can also use foods that are called prebiotics. Prebiotics are foods that help the growth of bacteria, because they don’t get absorbed in the body, they stay for a long time in the intestines. Like, leeks (garlic, onions), honey, bananas, these are all very good foods for your bacteria flora. You can also try fermented fresh vegetables. That means, pickles that are pickled in a healthy way. So, you can try to pickle at home. So, try for example the ginger, to pickle it at home, or maybe cucumbers, also are healthy. But don’t add too much salt. So, pickled vegetables are very good for your gut flora. If you’re a fan of soups you can try bone broth or gelatin soups. You can buy bones from the butcher, and what’s inside – the broth – you can make soups with it, and that’s very good for your gut flora. You can also add onions to it, or any vegetables of your choice. It’s very important to know that your gut flora affects the function of your intestines, and healthy intestines affect the whole body. So it’s very important to replace the gut flora that has been affected by your antibiotic abuse. I wish you all the best!
