Saab WIS and EPC Part 1: Installation - Trionic Seven

14:27
How to install the Saab Workshop Information System (WIS) and Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) on a modern 64-bit computer using a virtual machine. These workshop manuals are very useful for anyone doing work on a Saab but the installation process can be tricky. This video shows how to install the software on any modern machine. These instructions show the process for Windows 7 64 bit, but It should also be possible to use these instructions to run the software on Windows 8, Windows 8.1, WIndows 10, Mac OS X, or a Linux, Unix and possibly even Android. This method will also work on any future versions of Windows, as we emulate a whole 32-bit Windows machine. This is part 1 of 2. The next part will show how to get the most out of WIS and EPC. You will need to download a copy of WIS and EPC (available on eBay or via filesharing sites), and 32-bit Windows disc (this video shows Windows 7). You also need VMWare Player (at least version 7) which is free to download. If you already own VMWare Workstation, you can use that as well. Saab WIS and EPC is software that is no longer made or supported due to the fact that Saab Automobile AB has filed for bankruptcy several years ago. Therefore, this software can be considered abandonware. Denna video visar hur. Timing belt symptoms - Saab 93 General Motors

03:11
This Saab 93 had timing belt snapped so my advise change the car unless you love your vehicle then repair it. Symptoms of bad timing belt. 1 – Revs Behaving Badly If you have noticed that when you drive and you get up to somewhere between 2000 and 4000 RPM and your engine start acting strange you should check the timing belt. If it has become loose it will start to slip as the RPM’s get higher during acceleration. Also, this could be a sign that there are some teeth missing. 2 – Toothless Wonder Older timing belts will wear down and lose teeth over the course of their lifetime. While it is usually recommended to change your timing belt at least every 60,000 miles, some vehicles differ and the range can be as high as 110,000 miles. Always refer back the manual for your car for advice about the mileage. 3 – Starting and Running Issues The timing belt is actually a very finely tuned piece of equipment on your car. It must maintain complete alignment at the same it turn the crankshaft exactly two revolutions for every one revolution of the cam shaft. The exhaust valves and intakes are caused to close and open by the revolution of the cam shaft. The valve has to be able to close and open at the exact right moment when related to the movement of the pistons. Therefore, if that timing is off, everything else will be off kilter. This can also cause starting problems because the timing of all the individual components that cause the car to start will all be disrupted. 4 – Exhaust Problems If your exhaust has been expelling far more smoke than you are used to it could be related to a timing belt issue. It will cause the engine to struggle as it tries to compete with its own components and attempt to run properly under duress. This will result in far more exhaust being spewed out the other end. 5 – Prevention is Better Than Cure Obviously regular checks to your timing belt are essential to make sure it stays healthy to the point where it is time to change it without having to change it. Timing belt replacement is better than timing belt repair. It is probably not a good idea to try to repair a timing belt unless it is a simple short-term belt to get you home. If in fact your belt does break, the collateral damage that your engine suffers will depend on the type of engine it is. Non-interference engines are probably the better ones to have under these circumstances because they can ‘free-wheel’ if the belt snaps during a journey. In this instance your engine won’t suffer nearly as much damage as an interference engine. In the unfortunate event that the timing belt breaks on an interference engine because the pistons will shunt through the valves and pretty much blow the engine. How To Fix A Car CD Player That Won't Load Or Eject Discs

06:13
First, apologies for the video quality; this was done off-the-cuff without much preparation. Although I mention in the video that the problem is with a Mazda3 single disc CD player, and show some assembly / disassembly that is specific to these cars, the problem and solution themselves will apply to the majority of cars with an in-dash CD player. The unit I show was manufactured by Sanyo Automedia, but the mechanism this unit uses for loading and ejecting CD's is fairly universal, and will apply to most other vehicles / stereo manufacturers. These units use a rubber roller to load and eject the CD's. Over time, the roller can become dirty and lose its gripping power. If this is the only issue, it can be cleaned, and I would recommend denatured alcohol. In my case, the roller was dirty, but this was not the only problem. The rubber roller rides on a metal axle, and over time, the rubber became loose, allowing the metal axle to spin independently of the rubber- when the CD was inserted or an attempt was made to eject it, the metal axle spun, but did not move the rubber, which is what makes contact with the CD. The solution was to re-bond the rubber roller to the axle. To do this, I found success with contact cement. Other bonding agents may work, but contact cement does a very good job of bonding the rubber to the very non-porous metal axle. It will also not harm or deform the rubber, so I recommend using it. In order to apply an adequate amount of contact cement to the rubber and axle, I used a hypodermic needle. Two reasons for this- first, it allows you to inject a very small, controlled amount of the cement. As you are injecting a bonding agent near areas that are required to spin freely, less is definitely more- you do not want to use too much and accidentally seize the axle up. Second, using a syringe allows you to inject the cement into the first half inch of the axle, not just the outside area. To make the injection, I pushed back the rubber on each end with a jeweler's screwdriver. With the screwdriver still in place, I injected the cement slowly while drawing the needle out. Placing the syringe needle between the rubber and the axle without something like a screwdriver in place creates the risk of either puncturing the rubber, or breaking the needle off. Also, I used a syringe with a screw-on needle- I found this was necessary as the cement was too viscous to draw in through the needle itself. I was able to inject it fine, but in order to fill the syringe, I did have to remove the needle and fill the "body" of the syringe without it. If using contact cement, it is necessary to wait several hours for the bond to set. I waited 12, but it might be advisable to wait even longer. I did not discuss removing the head unit from the dashboard; for Mazda3 owners, this process is documented in the factory service manual for the vehicle, which is available for download for free (a Google search should yield a source.) There are also, I'm sure, videos on YouTube demonstrating this, however I'd strongly recommend following the service manual and only using YouTube video's as supplements. When not done right, you run the risk of damaging or distorting your dashboard components. With modern cars especially, it is often obvious when a dash has been taken apart incorrectly, as they often will not look right when reassembled. A note on the ribbon cable that connects the CD mechanism to the head unit- I did not show it's removal, but it is fairly simple. Using a small pair of pliers or a flat blade screwdriver, push the plastic clips on either end of the cable TOWARD the side of the harness that the cable plugs into. These are wedge type clips, and will, at least on mine, not come out completely. If you have any questions regarding this fix, please feel free to post them in the comments. I do hope that this will be found helpful for anyone experiencing this issue.

PAIR PHONE SAAB 9-3 93 07on to handsfree Bluetooth connect #saabworld

06:50
Tutorial on how to connect / pair a mobile phone to your #Saab Saab 9-3 infotainment handsfree system using Bluetooth. This is not covered in the Owners Manual, but in a separate Infotainment manual that came with every car when bought new. However, I see this question on a lot of forums and groups and many many people comment they haven't got the infotainment manual even if they have the original owners manual. Also worthy of note is that whilst almost all cars have the buttons on the steering wheel, the Bluetooth module was an optional extra. So if you try this method and cannot connect it is likely your car does not have the module. Also US cars never had the module - only European vehicles I've also found that although you can get pdf versions of the owners manual easily from various sources, the same is not true for the infotainment manual. Here I've created a video containing relevant pages of the infotainment manual along with a practical demonstration of how to pair and delete phones from your Saab. Making these videos is a “passion” for me. I’m using my 35+ years as an automotive engineer and car maintenance DIYer to make them and hope they help people out. How to drop oil pan on 98-03 saab 9-3 and 9-5

25:04
This is my how-to video on how to remove the sump/oil pan from these specific saabs. If you've found this video, you probably understand why cleaning out the sump and pickup tube strainer are important for the long operation of your saab 9-3 and 9-5. In this video I used the same oil I took out because it was only 200 miles old. This was a mistake, as I now still have the oil pressure light after warming up. IF YOU ARE STILL EXPIERENCING LOW OIL PRESSURE, READ ON. Perform a liqui-moli engine flush to clean out all other nasty particles. Then, run 5W 40 or thicker oil. This is necessary if you do not wish to replace the oil pump.

Saab 9-3 Time For Service Message 07-11 Saab 9-3 Service Reset

IMPORTANT EDIT: on DIESEL cars press the BRAKE pedal during this procedure #saabworld #saablife A short video tutorial on how to clear or reset the service indicator (time for service message) on Saab 9-3 '07-'11. #saab IMPORTANT EDIT 2: if you wish to reset the service counter BEFORE it has generated the "time for service" message on 07+ cars, then this can ONLY be done using Tech2. Personally I never use the service indicator anyway. These cars are prone to all sorts of "ills" if service intervals are "stretched". Replacing The Fuel Filler Neck On A Classic Saab 900 Turbo! Fix Your Broken Fuel Door!

04:11
Learn how to replace the fuel filler neck on a Classic Saab 900! Someone had broken off the fuel door on our 1991 Classic Saab 900 Turbo hatchback, Willie Nelson. The part that it attaches to costs over $100, so we had not replaced it. However we picked up a donor car for free last week, and the first part we are swapping over is the fuel filler neck. It not only holds the fuel door, but is also a manifold that attaches to many of the fuel lines. It is a fairly simple job to do with a set of torx drivers, a pair of pliers and a flathead screwdriver.
