Must Know: Why You Need to Stay Away From These Vitamins Multivitamin and mineral supplements became available in the 1940s, and Americans actively use them ever since. Nowadays, millions of people use supplements in order to strengthen their health and avoid nutrient deficiencies. Most people take a balanced combination of essential vitamins and minerals in the form of a multivitamin, such as Centrum vitamins. Multivitamins accounted for 40 percent of all supplement purchases, which is $5.7 billion out of the $37 billion in supplement sales in 2014 alone. Centrum vitamins, by Pfizer, are the best-selling multivitamins in the country. Their produces is the biggest pharmaceutical company worldwide, which deals mainly in manufactured chemicals. Yet, the company is also known due to the numerous legal battles, frauds, and controversy. It was recently threatened to be sued over false claims about Centrum vitamins in 2012 by the consumer watchdog group Center for Science in the Public Interest. Eventually, the company had to pull claims about breast and colon health. Moreover, it lacks regulation, specificity, and even standards. Namely, the multivitamins ask for no set standards or levels. Yet, it does what all big corporations regularly do: it pays large sums of money for advertising their chemically and synthetically enhanced supplements which can, in fact, do more harm than good. Apparently, even though these multivitamins are advertised to boost immunity and kick your metabolism they actually contain multiple additives which can be harmful or toxic to your body. Centrum vitamins contain at least 3 preservatives and several color additives, along with many toxic and even carcinogenic chemicals and additives. Here is a list of their dangerous ingredients: -Calcium Carbonate — This compound is found in rocks, shells, and even pearls. It is sometimes used to raise calcium levels in the body; but has been related to strokes and heart disease, especially in the elderly. Studies have also linked it to heart issues and myocardial infarction. -Polyethylene Glycol — It is often used in the manufacturing of coal-burning plants, rocket fuel, and over-the-counter laxatives. It might lead to kidney damage, hives and other allergic reactions, esophageal bleeding, tears, and autism. In children, it might cause encopresis, which is a continuous leakage of semi-formed feces. -Hydrogenated Oil — Hydrogenated oils quickly become toxic when processed under extreme heat, atmospheres of pressure and injections of metals. Their consumption clogs the arteries, leading to massive heart and arterial issues, and also results in producing cholesterol to bandage artery walls which have been affected. Due to the vascular issues, it affects the brain and causes Alzheimer’s and ADHD. -Food Dye Yellow 6 — This is a toxic food dye which is a carcinogen and might result in allergies, tumors on the kidneys and testes, and chromosomal damage. It might also cause ADHD, hyperactivity, and restlessness. -GMO Corn Starch — It has multiple adverse effects on the body and affects the detoxifying organs such as the liver and kidneys, but also damages the spleen, heart, and adrenal glands. Its another side effect is Hepatorenal Toxicity, which leads to kidney failure and is typically fatal. -Titanium Dioxide — It has been found to be potentially carcinogenic to humans. It’s included in various products as a whitening agent, like in ink, paper, paints, and even cosmetics and toothpaste. Even though it has been previously considered to be safe by the FDA, it has been recently found to cause lung cancer in rats. What is even more disturbing is that the Centrum vitamins for children are even more dangerous, as they include the following hazardous additives: -Cupric Oxide — This copper mineral is known to be dangerous in Europe. It causes kidney disease and childhood cirrhosis, and it is also dangerous to the environment. -Artificial Sweeteners (Aspartame) — As soon as it is ingested, this carcinogenic sweetener is converted to formaldehyde and methanol, and causes 40 adverse side effects, including birth defects, ADD, cancer, lupus, multiple sclerosis and more. -Zinc Oxide — In Europe, it is considered to be harmful, and leads to diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach and more. -Lactose (Milk Sugar) — Lactose makes up 2-8 % of the milk by weight. Specific enzymes in the stomach break it down, leading to lactose intolerance, and symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, cramping, upset stomach, and nausea. Dr. Mark Sircus explains the differences in dosing with Nascent and Lugol's iodine in adults and children and iodine's use in bringing up deficient levels as well as in treating infections, cancers and other ilnesses. http://drsircus.com/medicine/iodine/iodine-dosages ***Transcription*** The dosages depend on how you use it and the substance type – there is Lugol which has been around for 150 years, which is now in a lower concentration in United States because of certain laws that were passed, but you can get 2% Iodine, Lugol´s Iodine you can get 7% and you can even get as high as 15%. Whenever you use Iodine, no matter what Iodine you use – transdermally, painting in the skin – you have to be a little sensitive that sometimes it can burn the skin. Most often it does not, but you have to watch for skin reactions, drying out of the skin. I recommend for women with breast cancer to paint their breasts with Iodine. Oral dosages vary depending on where you live, your age, your size. Today in the northern hemisphere we do have a problem with radioactive iodine, if your thyroid is empty, running deficient on Iodine it will be a sponge for the radioactive type so it is really important today to supplement with Iodine, it is essential. If you live in the interior, away from the sea, also is very important, you have less iodine, exposed to less iodine in the environment. With the Nascent Iodine I recommend, which is in the atomic form, which is the form that the thyroid needs to create the thyroid hormones, it does not have to break down the molecular iodine which is Lugols or the pill forms, solid forms of Iodine. With the Nascent Iodine, in the bottle it says 3 drops to 5 drops, I believe 3 times a day. For my 3 years old I have given up to 15 to 20 drops at a time. You can take Iodine, start out with, if it is a child with an infection, instead of antibiotics, the Iodine is always going to be safer than an antibiotic. Iodine will not destroy and kill the healthy bacteria in the intestines. The only reaction normally is a detoxification, if a person is very, very toxic and very, very deficient. So with children and basically for basic supplementation and a minimal level in the northern hemisphere today I probably would be talking about 30 drops a day of the Nascent. Depending on the Lugol, maybe the same. Some Lugols, depending on the concentration, you will be taking less Lugol than Nascent. In treatment of cancer, patients usually go for 25mg up to 50mg and as high as a 100mg a day. This is what these Iodine doctors are suggesting. A hundred years ago the doctors used to go even higher, much higher, actually. So we are still in a very comfortable range. With children I would not hesitate when a child has a high fever and has an infection to do 10 or 15 drops of Nascent Iodine every 2 or 3 hours. The more you break up the dosage the more you can actually take orally in a very comfortable way for the body. In the cancer protocol we are talking about dosing with all the different items every 2 or 3 hours.

Key points: The nutrition label on your omega 3 fish oil supplement can be misleading if you're not sure what you're looking for. The two main compounds we're looking for are EPA and DHA. They stand for for eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. And the standard capsule of an Omega 3 supplement has only about 300 mg of these 2 combined. The effective dose for total EPA/DHA intake is 1.8-3.0 grams per day. That's between 6 to 10 of standard capsules, and the nutrition label will often say that you only need 1 or 2 per day. Higher concentration supplements are also available, and they usually come at a higher price point. The dosage would be split at least morning and evening (taken with meals). Why take omega 3? "If there is a single nutrient that is almost impossible to achieve adequate amounts of with the modern diet (outside of the handful of people who eat a lot of fatty fish), it’s the w-3 fish oils. In a very real sense, fish oils ‘do everything’ and impact on not only overall health but help to control inflammation, promote fat oxidation, inhibit fat storage and a host of others. It’s a list of benefits that seems almost too good to be true but the research is there. Due to their general unavailability in the food supply, supplementation is almost necessary and both pills (containing varying amounts of the active EPA/DHA) and liquids are available. Both are acceptable and some people simply prefer the liquids (which can be used on salads or in blender drinks) to pills (which often cause burps)." Today I'm going to be answering the question how much vitamin D should I take, as well why you really should care. Some health professionals believe that as much as 50-75% of the U.S. population is deficient in vitamin D or what some people call the sunshine vitamin. Worldwide perhaps a billion people. So who cares right? Well a deficiency has been linked to all kinds of health problems. This includes heart problems, weak bones, cancer as well as making it easier for a virus to make a home in your body. Traditionally many people got this vitamin through the sun, but do you see a problem with this? Yea, thanks to living in a modern society more people work indoors, drive cars and watch TV. To make matters even worse it's not easy to get through food. This is why a supplement can really be a great choice. Overdosing on vitamin D can occur, but it's really rare. Someone would have to take several thousand international units or IU for several months in a row to overdose. This is much higher than any supplement would recommend. The symptoms of an overdose could include nausea, headaches, frequent urination and the most serious condition would be kidney problems. When it comes to the ideal dose of vitamin D not everyone agrees, and the debate is still going on. The National Institutes of Health feel that adults should receive 200 IU daily. If someone is between 50 to 70 years of age then the dosage should be increased to 400 IU daily. Lastly if a person makes it to 70 years of age then they should get 600 IU every day. Some people feel this dosage should be increased like the famous American TV Dr. called Dr. OZ. He feels that adults should take 1,000 IU every day. Another very influential doctor called Dr. Weil recommends 2,000 IU every single day. Also the vitamin D Council recommends that healthy adults take 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily as well as Boston University Medical Center. Considering you need at least 5,000 IU of vitamin D to somewhat have a chance of an overdose taking 1,000 or 2,000 IU shouldn't pose a problem for many people. Next comes finding a good supplement to get this vitamin D. Contrary to what you may believe not all vitamins and supplements are the same. More bad news is that it's easy for companies to make crappy products that can actually harm people. Don't take them without water, since the fluids help you break down and absorb the vitamins. I was told to take weight loss supplements in the morning, while others are best at night. Most weight loss supplements are just appetite suppressants or stimulants. If you take it at night, you won't sleep. Let's say it is a vitamin B pill. When should I take that? Whenever it doesn't make you look like you're popping too many pills. Though if you are taking appetite suppressants, taking vitamins at that time reduces the risk of malnutrition. I eat sensibly. Most people popping weight loss supplements are going to drink shakes or eat a frozen dinner at night, not nine servings of vegetables to get all the micronutrients they need. I heard that you don't want to take them all at once. True, because then your body has trouble absorbing them all. And you should check with your doctor on timing since some supplements could interfere with medication you are taking. I heard you shouldn't take vitamins in the morning due to poor absorption. That's only if you take them on an empty stomach, since your body will push it on through. Take vitamins with a small snack so your body stops to digest it. Someone said you have to take vitamin B or C with dinner. Those are water soluble vitamins. If you take it without any water or food, it is flushed out of your system. Scientists have revealed that taking vitamin D supplements won't boost bone health in all adults and should not be used to prevent osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition that causes bones to become weak and fragile. And almost half of American adults over fifty take extra vitamin D to help prevent it. But a new study carried out at the University of Auckland has found that taking vitamin D supplements does not improve bone mineral density in all adults. The study looked through data from 23 studies involving more than 4-thousand healthy adults for a two year period. It concluded that the use of vitamin D pills can ward off osteoporosis only in older people who have vitamin deficiency.

Low vitamin D danger!
Millions of British people are at risk of developing serious health conditions because of low vitamin D levels declares a new scientific review commissioned by the Health Supplements Information Service (HSIS). Despite the proven health benefits of vitamin D, about three quarters of British adults fail to reach even their basic requirements thanks to poor dietary intakes and a lack of sun in this country. Now nutrition experts are calling for the shortfall in our diets to be made up by improved dietary intakes and vitamin D supplementation. As studies show, supplementation has a guaranteed effect on vitamin D status. In this latest study review, called Health Impacts of Vitamin D: Are We Getting Enough?, independent researchers analysed the current evidence surrounding vitamin D. The aims were to identify the main health benefits associated with the vitamin and to explore issues surrounding optimal daily intakes. Leading dietitian, Dr Carrie Ruxton, and senior lecturer in Human Nutrition at Manchester Metropolitan University, Dr Emma Derbyshire, reviewed more than 100 published research papers relating to the potential power of vitamin D, mechanisms to explain its benefits, vitamin D intakes and recommendations. Their paper will be published in the June issue of Nutrition Bulletin, the journal of the British Nutrition Foundation. Scientific research suggests that vitamin D plays an important role in helping combat a host of serious health conditions, including cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and immune disorders, as well as boosting bone health. Recent research work has linked vitamin D deficiency with a significantly increased risk of poor mental and physical health. Normally vitamin D is produced by the body following skin exposure to sunlight. However, the northern latitude of the UK means that adequate access to sunlight is only possible over 7 months of the year. During the winter months, there is simply not enough sunlight to stimulate our bodies to make vitamin D. An increased awareness of the risks of skin cancer has also limited typical skin sun exposure levels, as have cultural reasons for covering the skin. A regular intake of vitamin D-rich foods or a multivitamin rich in vitamin D can help enhance our skin production. Good food sources include oily fish, meat, fats and spreads, breakfast cereals, dairy products and eggs. However, consumption of many of these foods has declined in recent years. For example, in 1974, the average person bought 147g a week of butter compared with just 41g a week in 2007. Currently in the UK, there are no recommended intake levels of vitamin D for most adults. The European Union recommends a daily intake of 5µg (micrograms) for food labelling purposes, while the European Food Safety Authority suggests a maximum of 25µg a day for children and 50µg a day for 12 to 70 year olds. Dr Ruxton and Dr Derbyshire found that in the UK, 71 per cent of men and 78 per cent of women failed to reach even 5µg of vitamin D intake a day, with an average of just 3.7µg for men and 2.8µg for women. The recommended safe upper level in America, Australia and New Zealand is 80µg a day, but studies now suggest that levels of 500 to 1,000µg a day may well be safe. One study reported that to lower the risk of osteoporotic bone fractures, adults needed to take at least 55µg of vitamin D through diet, in addition to usual sun exposure. Commenting on the latest review commissioned by HSIS, Dr Ruxton says: There is a growing body of literature to show that vitamin D is important for maintaining health and lowering the risk of some chronic diseases. A better vitamin D status appears to be linked with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and inflammatory conditions, and less cognitive impairment in older people. Taking the evidence as a whole, a rather worrying picture emerges implying that British adults and children are at increased risk of chronic disease due to vitamin D insufficiency. We need to re-examine UK dietary recommendations for vitamin D, which were originally informed by research from the 1960s and 1970s. In particular, vitamin D recommendations for those unlikely to achieve sufficient sun exposure, or those with particular health needs, need to be addressed. We also need to address declining intakes of foods rich in vitamin D. Most people are still failing to eat enough oily fish or low fat dairy foods which are useful sources of the vitamin. Vitamin supplementation such as taking a daily multivitamin rich in vitamin D could play a useful role in addressing low vitamin D intakes as studies show they help boost vitamin D levels in the blood. Not everyone gets all the nutrients they need from their diet so a multivitamin containing vitamin D can be a good insurance policy while long-term dietary changes are being made. This because calcium is needed for the correct contraction and relaxation of muscles, including smooth and heart muscles.
