Build a TIG welder pulser add-on for $10. Cheap and Easy.

14:14
This is an easily home-made TIG welder pulsing add-on that can be built with little experience and very few parts. It is a video reply to a question posted by This Old Tony several years ago. I came up with a parts list costing less than $10 shipped and the device can be assembled with only basic electronics experience. You could install it inside an existing TIG pedal or add it in-line as I did. It uses only two main active components, an Arduino Nano microcontroller and an analog multiplexer. I was able to breadboard the circuit, prototype it to perf board and test a weld in a single evening. Index: 0:00 - Origins 1:14 - High-level design 2:47 - Purchasing the parts on ebay for $10 5:16 - Arduino code 6:28 - Hardware prototyping 9:35 - Building the board 11:11 - Simple circuit diagram 12:19 - Live testing 13:11 - Wrap up DISCLAIMER - I present my design for your information only. What you do with it is on you. I can't be held responsible if you damage your welder. That said, if you are careful you'll probably be fine. Most TIG pedals are not that complex. Homemade Tig Welder - Tig Welding Old School with Scratch Start

09:33
http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/homemade-tig-welder.html Tig welding with a old stick welder. An Air cooled tig torch, regulator/flowmeter, and argon cylinder turn any DC stick welder into a scratch start tig welder. But unless you already have a DC stick welding machine, its cheaper to buy an Inverter Tig welder that comes with all the tig welding accessories like foot pedal, flowmeter, and tig torch.

How does TIG welding work on aluminium - Tutorial DIY - 05

03:36
Download the official soundrtack: iTunes: https://goo.gl/WTDraf Spotify: https://goo.gl/NgwgjV Deezer: https://goo.gl/HGihfX Tidal: https://goo.gl/4x1iyo Google play Music: https://goo.gl/HuHRLB ______________________ This video animation describes a tutorial diy, in detail how does TIG welding works and why it's very appropriate for aluminum. Many people hear about the tig welder and wonder what is tig welding or about TIG welding aluminum. In this tutorial we'll answer a few questions! I just love metalworking! our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/romacustombikeeng Check out the extended version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH4xI30mi94&list=PLV71LsSNUG3A_EEj3kG_7OdroCRSTP6kn&index=45 This is a TIG welder: TIG, Tungsten inert Gas, where the Tungsten is the material of which the electrode is made of and the Inert gas is the gas coming out of the torch's nozzle, commonly Argon. This is a great technique for metalworking. The lens, the pink piece at the end of the gun that add a much needed feminine touch to an overly masculine design, can have different shapes and it affects the way the gas is dispensed onto the weld and the amount needed to shield it properly. Here's how it works: the electrode is charged with enough voltage to create an arc with the part and enough amperage to create the heat necessary to melt the parts that need to be welded together. Once you have created a little pool of melted metal we can start adding the metal filler to fill up the space between the two parts and strengthen the joint. You do need to get into the right rhythm, you add the filler and you spread it with the torch. If you get it right you'll get the sought after stacked coin look, typical of this welding technique. To join two thicker pieces it is ideal to bevel the edges to form a v shaped gap between the pieces to ensure a deep penetration of the weld. If needed more passages can be overlapped to achieve full filling of the gap. But why the gas you might ask, well the inert gas is there to protect the molten metal from contacting the oxygen that would cause oxidation and as a result a weak weld. Remember to leave a comment, like and share our video to support the show, especially if you enjoy metalworking! Tig Welding Stainless Steel - Walking the Cup vs TIG Finger

08:21
http://www.weldmongerstore.com/tig-finger/ A popular tig welding technique for stainless steel is walking the cup. But it does not always work best. And for some applications, it is not permitted because it leaves scratches on the surface of the metal sometimes. A Tig Finger comes in handy for situations where walking the cup does not work or for where those scratches the tip cup makes on and around the weld are not tolerate. Both Tig welding techniques are shown along with a shameless plug for my Tig Finger product. http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/tig-weld.html Below are some products that I don’t carry, but I use them in my videos and can vouch for their quality. Making a Welding Cart

08:10
In this video I will show you how I made a new cart for my TIG welder. Making a TIG welding cart has been on the to do list for a long time. Having to move the gas, the welder and the filler rod all separately was a real pain. Now though, they are all stored together on this mobile welding cart. The cart includes a tool box for storage of torch spares and other associated welding sundries such as gloves, flow meters and regulators. The filler rods now have there own dedicated storage tubes made from plastic drain pipe to keep them organised and easily accessible while welding. The whole cart is mounted on four swivel casters for easy mobility. The casters can also be locked to prevent unwanted movement. The welding cart was built primarily for the storage of the TIG welder. However space has been left for a MIG welder should I get one in the future. We tried to build the best welding cart on YouTube, which meant that it had to include each of the three primary welding techniques: MIG, TIG, and stick welding. We also needed to throw in a plasma cutter that can be used for both gouging welds and hand cutting the metal to later be welded back together. We incorporated welding helmet, welding jacket, welding glove, welper, and tape measure storage so that you can easily access the most popular welding accessories on demand. Making an ARC Welder - Part 1 of 2

How to convert scavenged microwave parts into a useful arc welding machine. This is part 1 of 2, and focuses on the modification of the transformers. It's similar to the idea of a Variac (variable auto-controller), with a few more hazards to be aware of. The Micro-Welder itself does not have an on-off switch, and can pose a fire hazard if plugged directly into a mains power socket. I made this to be used exclusively with the Scariac. (Look for how to build that in another project.) Stick welding, and/or the modification of a Microwave Oven Transformer (M.O.T), can be very dangerous and presents risk of UV radiation, shock hazards, burns, fires, fumes and a multitude of other risks. This project should not be attempted without adult supervision and adequate training. Misuse, or careless use, of tools or projects may result in serious injury. Use of this video content is at your own risk. Music By: Music by Jason Shaw (TU-FeelsGood2B) http://www.audionautix.com Project Inspired By: MattsAwesomeStuff http://youtu.be/-NLy-LL_TGQ Project History & More Info: Did you know you can make an AC arc welder using parts from your microwave? I used 2 transformers from 2 different microwaves, and about 50' of 8 AWG stranded copper cable from a local hardware store. You could probably save some money by scavenging for free wire, but I decided to look at the "end of coil" section at the hardware store, and was able to negotiate a deal for half price on the cable, so the 50' only cost me about $17. The modified MOTs will have a new secondary that is 18 turns of the 8 AWG cable, and both MOTs are tied together in series. I also found I needed to run the system on 240 volts AC to get the power output for good welding. My goal was 30+ volts AC with a variable amperage from 0-120+ Amps. There are a few videos on the internet that show various people who have tried making a stick welder from a Microwave Oven Transformer. There are even a couple of tutorials suggesting how to do it. However, in my experience of trying to duplicate these projects, my MOT welder either got so hot that the insulation on the wires melted and shorted it out, and/or it didn't provide enough power to strike and maintain an arc. The idea of the Microwave Welder isn't new, but to date, I personally haven't come across a video or project where anyone actually welded anything with one of these "so-called" microwave welders. The most that's been shown is to lay a bead on a piece of metal, which I didn't feel was very credible because this doesn't prove it can weld. My earlier experiments with 1 MOT could also lay a bead, but it didn't have enough heat or penetration to make anything stick. A welder also needs a way to reliably control the amperage (which no other project does). I saw one project where dimmer switches were used on the primary coils, however dimmer switches are only able to handle around 600 watts, and these stick welders require upwards of 2,000-3,000 watts. In my experience, the dimmer switches fail very quickly and within a couple minutes of trying to weld. I'm happy to say that the welder in my project does work for me. It welds 1/16" AC rods very well, and I believe the transformer temperatures are very reasonable and sustainable for the amount of welding I plan to do as a simple hobbiest welder.

Making a homemade rotary welding positioner .5 to 2.8 RPM

22:05
I worked on this off and on over a couple weeks. The gear reducer needed a little work but otherwise works fine. The positioner certainly has plenty of torque, probably way more than I need. I had trouble finding a gearbox that had a large enough reduction to rotate the chuck slow enough. I already had a VFD and 1/3 hp motor so the reducer was all I needed to finish the project.

DIY Sand Paper Holder - Beginner Tig Welder Project - A way to get started

This is a fun project, doesn't have to be perfect, requires some precise fusion tacks to fuse the wires together but not completely melt them. Its cheap and easy using Tig wire or Tig Filler Rod that you probably already have. Its a good way to practice, a way to get started, plus you end up with a functional product at the end. Tig Welding a Receiver Hitch Push Bar

11:56
Tig welding a receiver hitch push bar. So Matt (my son) called me friday night and gave me the final plans on him moving from his apartment to his new house. My main role was to help get the mustang moved over there. His driveway at the new house was fairly steep (for texas that is), and the car isn't running. No way to pack the trailer up there and unload it, so I made a push bar that would go into the receiver hitch of my F250 with a sacrificial wood block on it to push the car by the front core support without damaging it. This worked out well. Also a big thanks to Reid Eichner for the new Build Pro Fixture clamps. Checkout our new online community. http://fabnation.net

How to TIG Weld Aluminum part 1

10:20
Visit my online store https://weldmongerstore.com/ For the best collection of videos on tig welding aluminum click here https://goo.gl/bxkORP This is the first in series of videos about how to tig weld aluminum. My plan is to kick it off with this video and then let the comments dictate the direction I take from here. The reason is what I think folks want to see, may not actually be what they want to see. So comments and questions about how to tig weld aluminum will help. There is a lot to talk about. things like tungsten electrodes..type and size ( i like 2% lanthanated for everything and 3/32 takes care of most of my daily welding) shielding gases ...argon is best to start but if you begin to specialize in thicker aluminum, it might make sense to use a blend of argon and helium...or use some of the newer blends like stargon AL from praxair. Below are some products that I don’t carry, but I use them in my videos and can vouch for their quality. DIY MIG/TIG Welding Cart Part 2/2: Adding all the extra bits

Today my wife and I finish off out welding cart! We break out the bead roller, the drum sander thing, some other stuff probably, and start making sparks. And yeah, my wife did most of the welding. How awesome is that? Even better, this whole experience resulted in my wife admitting that I should buy a tig welder. Have I mentioned I have the best wife ever? Yeah, i think I should say that much more... We use an eastwood mig175, 030 wire i think, C25 gas at around 15 CFH or something similar. I'm not an expert. If you feel the need to tell me my welds suck, i'll likely agree with you. Mailing Address: 1818 Milton Ave STE 100 #1973 Janesville, WI 53545-9998 We have a community Discord server. DIY MIG/TIG Welding Cart Part 1: Making the frame

16:39
Today, my wife and I are welding again. This time, we are making a welding cart to keep us both from injury when we inevitably trip over all the leads and junk scattered all over the ground. It's made from 1x1" square tube, 1/8" wall thickness. In this part, we build the frame. Later, we'll add the rest. Probably. This is designed to hold 2 welders and 2 tanks of gas, my idea is a MIG welder, a TIG welder, C25 tank, and argon tank. Pretty standard stuff, really, but how many guys get their wives to do most of the welding? eh? THAT isn't very standard, is it?! Anyways if she gets much more practice she will be better than I am. I guess she'll take over the garage then. Well, it's been a good run. Nice knowing you all. We use an eastwood mig175, 030 wire i think, C25 gas at around 15 CFH or something similar. I'm not an expert. If you feel the need to tell me my welds suck, i'll likely agree with you. This exhaust gives broader power band for more enjoyable ride as the bike is used on public roads. We design every exhaust system separately for the specific engine. You can see that the welds are hammered down a bit for more agressive look but it also helps inside the chamber that there is almost no kinks which would disrupt exhaust gases flow... Simple Homemade Welding Positioner for Tig Welding - Turn table

10:06
I have some jobs where I need to weld some round parts, tubing, pipe, etc and wanted to make a simple welding turn table. If used correctly, you can achieve some amazing tig welds! I just used some various steel parts around the shop to make this welding positioner. You can lay down welds that look like the guys that stack dimes! there are alot of names for this type of device. welding turn table, welding rotisserie, welding lathe, and many others. Jody from weldingtipsandtricks.com has a few video's up on these type of welding positioners. Behind the Scenes Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBpUoiMsRMBg-DHKcFpE6jg
