I gave up smoking with champix, how I quit smoking cigarettes

This is how I gave up smoking and my experience of it, I couldn't do it by will power alone. I have tried to quit before but failed. This new drug has come out called Champix and I thought I'd give it a go, I loved smoking and really didnt want to stop but Im getting older and really want some fitness to do the things I like to do. Its also annoying that the world has alienated smokers and I am sick of that too. So here is my short story of how I quit. I chew lots of gum and also like the occasional redskin lolly to help me through. I might live longer now hopefully. With Champix, I think you actually start to withdraw the day you start taking them. The first week is spent smoking with no satisfaction. By the second week your brain has withdrawn from nicotine because the champix is blocking it. All you are doing after that is satisfying your physical habit of the action of having a smoke. Set a day at around 2 weeks after you start taking champix and stop, I know its hard but just do it! You will start to feel better about not smoking than it was to smoke. Good Luck !!!! Always consult your doctor if you have any issues. Most of them will be to withdrawing from cigarettes, but the tablets can make you feel sick, just make sure you eat before taking them.

So when you take a puff of a cigarette, you usually go, ahh, because it's a release of dopamine. The way Chantix works is it blocks the release of dopamine, so that all you're getting is the stinky taste of the cigarette, and the stinky smell, and you're not getting the beautiful dopamine release, so you're wondering why you're even doing it. Whatever you choose to do, I strongly encourage you to talk to your medical providers, your doctors, your pharmacists, all the people that are in your support system medically, so that you can decide which one is best for you.

I'm Erin White for the dailyRx News Network Researchers conducted a clinical study to determine if the combination of the medications worked better than varenicline alone. At the 12 and 26 week time points in the study, more people who took the combined treatment had not smoked since their quit date than those who took varenicline alone. The research was conducted by a team led by Dr. Jon O. Ebbert, from the Nicotine Dependence Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota: "If you're a lighter smoker, one medication, varenicline is enough... if you're a heavier smoker varneicline plus bupropin is better." If you read the labels of any medication, you will be completely disturbed by some of the simple medications you've been taking for years and seeing what the side effects could be. Chantix only came out six years and a few months ago and it got some bad press. I run several groups and in my groups I've had people take Chantix. So that's where I speak from, that experience. I've never taken it myself. The experience I've had is some nausea is a side effect. Sometimes people have had diarrhea. Sometimes people have gotten a little lightheaded. Stuff like that. Very often, the pros of Chantix, which is blocking the receptor, not getting the pleasures of this smoke, not getting the dopamine release and saying, why am I smoking has been a great to my clients. They were able to deal with a little bit of nausea, a little bit of diarrhea, because the pros outweigh the cons tremendously. I do have one story about a client that was in my group that had taken Chantix. It helped her quit smoking, she was coming to my group. Four weeks into taking the Chantix she got very depressed and she didn't feel like coming out of the house. She followed the instructions that I gave her, that her doctor gave her, which were if that happens, to call her doctor. Also contact me. Let us know what's going on. She did that. She contacted me. I told her make sure you contact your doctor. Her doctor told her to stop taking it immediately. Within a few days, her depression lifted. She did not pick up a cigarette. She came back into my group. So the Chantix did help her quit smoking and she stayed quit. That's the only story I have of depression. I know I've read certain things, that people have had severe side effects. But there's a lot of side effects with quitting smoking. They don't last forever and if you get coping skills by going to a group, by going to a counselor, by talking to other people who've quit smoking, they'll help you with these things so that you actually don't experience any thing that harmful.

This is why mindfulness practices such as mindful meditation is such a great practice because it helps you to become self-aware of your thought processes. By looking inward, an addict can start to recognize when he feels a bit “off.” Eat Foods That Make Tobacco Less Desirable Research shows that smokers are more likely to smoke after consuming certain foods. According to the April 2007 issue in the journal, Nicotine and Tobacco Research, many foods have shown to either increase or decrease smoking cessation. See official webiste here: http://bit.ly/1BY18rn Research done at Duke University consisted of 209 smokers and suggested that certain foods actually enhance cigarette taste and make it more desirable, while other foods, made them less desirable. This research revealed that a balance of non-carbohydrate drinks such as water or fruit juice decreased the desire to smoke. This study also found that fruits, such as bananas and apples, dairy products, such as cheese, vegetables, such as celery or carrots, diminished the desire for a smoke. According to the study, the foods that made cigarette smoking more enticing were meat, coffee, and of course, alcohol. Water and fruit juice is helpful to clean the body after cessation too. They help to eliminate toxins from the body and lungs. Keep a bottle of fresh water nearby and drink plenty of it. Alcohol and coffee is often a trigger for tobacco for many people, so try to stay away from alcohol and coffee too. Eat oats. Oats have been shown to reduce cravings for nicotine. Use about a tablespoon a day of ground oats. Oats should not be confused with oatmeal. Just add one tablespoon of ground oats to two cups of boiling water and then leave it overnight. Consume it the next day after every meal, but don’t consume it past 8pm. This is a great quit smoking “home” remedy. In another study, a supplement of oats herb extract was found to reduce the consumption of cigarettes from 20 to 9 a day.4 That’s about a 50% decrease. The product that was used in the study is now marketed by the name of Neuravena. Oats, as well as eating plenty of fruits and veggies, have shown to decrease cravings. Eat oranges and bananas. Get in the habit of reaching for that orange each time feel a craving. In one study, a group of researchers in Britain showed that only after 21 days, smokers decreased nearly 80% less cigarettes, and 20 percent of those smokers stopped smoking all together. There are some ex-smokers that believe that one glass of orange juice with a teaspoon of cream of tartar quickly gets nicotine out of your system. Smoking does decrease potassium levels in the body and cream of tartar his high in potassium. Although research on the effects of cream of tartar may be lacking, using it will help to increase depleted potassium levels. Bananas are also high in potassium and may help eliminate some nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Bananas also contain B6, B12, magnesium. B vitamins are shown to normalize the heartbeat. Dr David Daughton, a pulmonary specialist at University of Nebraska Medical Center has discovered that certain foods with a high alkaline level kept nicotine in the body. Because of this, he believed that by keeping the body circulating nicotine, this reduced the urge to smoke more. Some high alkaline foods include squash, pasta, quinoa, millet, almonds, and starchy vegetables like potatoes, brown rice and beet greens. There is physical withdrawal and there is emotional withdrawal. Nicotine addiction is 80 percent psychological, it's 20 percent physical. Either way it can be a very difficult withdrawal. One of the first suggestions I have is to treat yourself like a little kid, like a child. Get plenty of rest. Eat proper nutritious meals. Nap when you're tired if you can. Take walks around the block. Or, if you live near a body of water or in the mountains, take a beautiful walk and look at the sky. Deep breathe. Breathe in and out. Drink a lot of water. That will also help you with cravings. And the deep breathing will help you when you're feeling panicky and full of anxiety. It's the first thing a paramedic will tell you when you're feeling terrified. When you see a tragic accident a paramedic would tell you, take deep breaths slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth. Well, it works the same way with the nicotine withdrawal. There are many things that you can do to also help you with nicotine withdrawal. Don't let yourself get too lonely. I've already mentioned tired. If you're angry try to deep breathe. Try to talk it out with a friend whatever's going on, because these things can be exacerbated by the withdrawal. You could end up picking up a cigarette instead of dealing with the actual situation. I recommend you try all of these things. Please, reward yourself. Be good to yourself. Don't pick up a cigarette.

Such as where you buy your cigarettes. The walk that you take to get to work. People know intutively, exactly when to light up that cigarette right before they are parking their car for work or getting to their house. Its about changing your route going to go to work, changing your route home. Don't go to the same place where you bought your cigarettes, to buy your beverages or to buy your supermarket stuffs. Don't go into your neighbourhood, buncho'net, bodega or whatever it was, where they say "hey joe, pack of Marlboro for you." because they know you and that's what you always ask for. Go to another store where they don't know you. These are the things you must do. You must be willing to change everything. And remember, just doing it a day at a time is so much easier than looking at, 'I'm never gonna be able to smoke for ever'. Don't do that to yourself. Nothing is for ever and it can't be for ever. You don't know. But for this moment, you're not gonna smoke.

Currently I'm on day 5 of no smoking after 4 years of addiction. Rule 1. You need to break away from your environment, that's one of the biggest fights. In the video i suggest disbanding from friends, temporarily. B But breaking away from your environment means so much more, what are your triggers ? You have to break away from your triggers/environment, for me it was friends, so that's why i recommend temporarily going solo. Rule 2. You need proper sleep. It's a complete bitch to sleep when you're quitting weed. Your brain doesn't produce the chemicals to put you to sleep. If you'll take Melatonin, it will re-create that 1 chemical to help you sleep but it's natural and non addictive. Use it temporarily, the first week is the hardest to sleep. Rule 3. NUTRITION. You must eat, but it's not fun and all food tastes like shit, your body will hate eating and will refuse food. (feeling like throwing up) With weight gainer, i can easily drink down 400-600 calories from weight gainer and not need to eat. You need the calories to stay focused, you can't fight your hardest battle without being well prepared, so nutrition is extremely important. You must eat, if eating is too difficult, you can resort to drinking your meals, like i've been doing. The weight gainer has been my solution to stay well fed and keep focused, without being forced to eat, plus there's no more feelings of throwing up BECAUSE I'M NOT EATING! If you try to quit, these 3 rules will help you so much, but if you're not even at the stage of quitting, then you need to start preparing for when you do quit. Destroy all your paraphernalia, cut your money source and fight because you can't keep going how you have been, it's time for a change.
