Treatment Options for Peyronie’s Disease
Peyronie’s disease, which occurs when scar tissue causes the penis to curve, can be treated several ways. Lawrence Jenkins, MD, a urologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, says this ranges from conservative treatment—simple observation—to penile traction therapy, injections and several types of surgery depending on the disease progression. He provides a basic explanation of each option. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, visit https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/urology or call 614-685-6666.

How To Treat Peyronie's Disease with ESWT (Bent or Curved Penis)?
Electro Shockwave Treatment for Peyronie Disease – Curved Penis LEARN MORE: http://mens-health.sg/peyronies-disease-bent-curved-penis/ What is Peyronie Disease? Peyronie Disease is an abnormal curvature of the penis. Often it is only obvious during an erection. This should not be confused with the penis pointing to one side. It is quite common and normal for the penis to point slightly to the left or right when erected. Not everybody will have a penis that point directly up or directly straight. However, if there is an actual curve of bend in the shaft of the penis, this is not normal. Peyronie Disease is a common problem affecting men and most commonly seen in men between the ages of 40 and 70 years old. It is estimated that between 3% to 8% of men suffer from Peyronie disease. Aside from looking abnormal, Peyronie's Disease can also cause problems with getting an erection. Many patients with Peyronie Disease either cannot get a fully hard erection or they lose their erections quickly. In the early stages, erections can even be painful. If the penis is too bent, the patient may not even be able to have penetrative sex. Can you imagine trying to have sex when the penis is pointing 90˚ to one side? We still do not exactly know what causes Peyronie Disease. How do we cure Peyronie Disease? Previously, surgery was the only option to cure Peyronie Disease. However, now we have a new treatment tool known as Low Intensity Electro-Shock Wave therapy (ESWT) for Peyronie Disease. This is a painless treatment. A machine is used to deliver shockwaves into the curved area of the penis. The curvature is caused by a hardened area in the penis known as a plaque. During an erection, the rest of the penis can extend and elongate but the plaque cannot. Therefore, the penis is bent towards the plaque. ESWT for Peyronie Disease delivers shockwaves into the plaque and breaks it down. This is the same technology that is used to break up kidney stones. So if the shockwave can break up stones, imagine what it can do to the plaque! Each ESWT for Peyronie Disease treatment session lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. There is no special preparation necessary and there is no downtime either. Patients are up and walking normally immediately after the treatment. There is also no pain after the treatment. Commonly, patients need 6 to 12 treatment sessions. Improvement can usually be seen after the 6th session. What do I do if I think I have Peyronie Disease? Take a picture of your penis while it is erected (make sure to keep these pictures confidential, safe and secure!). Take a picture from the top and from the side. We will need to see these pictures to know how curved the penis is when erected and to determine the position of the plaque. Non surgical Peyronies Treatments - Overview
For more information and advice about Peyronie's disease visit: http://www.MyPeyronies.com Penis surgery should always be the last option for men with Peyronie's disease. There are number of non-surgical treatment options that for most Peyronie's patients are worth trying first. - Peyronie's medication is either taken orally or injected directly into the Peyronie's plaque. The aim is to reduce inflammation, fight plaque formation, prevent scar formation, etc. - Traction devices are increasingly popular Peyronie's treatment and have shown to be effective in reducing penis curvature in some Peyronie's patients. Traction also work great for men that need to gain back lost penile length, e.g. after penis surgery. Traction works by stretching the penile scar tissue and is safe procedure - There are various other non-surgical treatments, like electroshock wave therapy, which is aimed to trigger the healing process, as well as some alternative treatments, like herbal supplements, penis exercises, relaxation techniques, etc. There are different opinions among Peyronie's doctors and men with Peyronie's disease about the effectiveness of some of the non-surgical treatments. There is however no doubt that many men have benefited greatly from non-surgical Peyronie's disease treatments (myself included but you can read My Peyronie's Story) http://www.mypeyronies.com/peyronies.html

Peyronie's disease - how to deal with / solve
2012: In May I found a lump on the genitalia, on top mid-lenght, and soon after there was an intendation on left side causing a bend. A thick band on upper side was also formed. I wanted to wait and see if PD could improve. I read "everything" on the web hoping to find out something. I just ended up with Q-10 pills incl E-vitamin. However some later, in Dec, there was a new indentation further out and on the right side. The bend was now severe. 2013: In Feb the lump had moved to inner left side near base and I was on regular health check and I expressed my frustration to doctor. Apparenly to end discussion he gave me prescription for Oridus/Ketaprofen Antiinflammatory Gel and said I could test this (he did apparently not seem to believe in it). I tried it but my impression was that the Gel did not penetrate through (as I already had read on-line). By working it into the base it had an effect by reducing the occasional pain in the lump. Once more I sat down and started to think. I had noted that the stinging pain, which evidentally was build-up of plaque, was most present early morning (4-7 am) and after sitting idle on my office chair for hours. Therefore I concluded that the blood flow was involved. The following measures were made: A: Oridus Gel used as described above. B: Very fast running approx 1.5 km 2-3 times a week. C: Sleep on the side (rather than on the back as I used to). D: Intense running (at site or in stairs for 1 min) upon feeling stinging pain (this stops pain instantly!). E: Fast walking & being in motion at least a few times every day. I felt that the measures were positive. In Apr, I noticed severe pain in the genitalia and the next day I noted that the indentation from Dec had disappeared. The indentation from May & the thick band along the upper side was still there, but I thought that the disease was now resolving. I stopped with B; the Exhausing high speed runs and D; Running at site (since the stinging pain was gone). The other measures (A, C, E) were still performed. No further improvements took place, instead there was some new plaque. In Aug I wake up for the first time in many months by the stinging pain and I realized that I was sleeping on the back rather than on the side. Just overnigth there was much more plaque in the forward part of genitalia. After this I was even more focused on sleeping on the side. There was however a gradual build-up of plaque in the forward part over the next months. In this period I decided to stop measure A Oridus Gel. 2014: By Jan the entire forward part of the genitalia was more or less completely clogged. I decided to start the high speed running again (Measure B). After each run, I noticed a ligth "electrical sensation" in the palm of my hands. In March I was on 4 hour walk in a mountain. In the evening, I noticed strong pain in genitalia and hands. The next morning I saw what had happened: The entire clogging in the forward part was gone! I believed that the walk in the mountain had caused this, I stopped "B" and throughout April I was instead walking much in the mountain, but nothing happened. Therefore, in May I decided to test the high speed runs "B" again. Soon after the first run I once more noticed the ligth "electrical sensation" in the hands and I knew that I was "on track". The old plaque from 2012 appeared stuck though. In Aug-Sep I was struggling with cold (?) and in this period I was very idle only measure C sleep on the side was performed. In this 2 month period period there was some build-up of plaque on the forward sides. After being well, it only took 2-3 high speed runs (Measure B) to remove this new plaque. Also this time there was strong feedback in hands upon plaque resolving. I also re-started measure E fast walks/being in motion. In Oct the lump on the inner left disappeared. 2015 - today: I have been following up measure B high speed runs (occasionally), C sleep on side, E fast walks & being in motion, and the thick band along upper side as well as the left indentation has been noticable reduced. There is stil bend but there is clear improvement. My conclusion: 1: Good blodflow throughout the day (and night) seems to slow down the formation of plaque. Sudden build-up of plaque did only take place when sleeping on the back. Also when sleeping on side but being idle (Aug-Sep 2014) resulted in much faster scarring compared with the periods when I was physically active during the day. 2: The only meassure that can remove plaque is B, the very fast running (see above). There are however a few limitations; It is only possible to "run off" plaque that has been there for max 6-8 months, and older plaque seems to be stuck (it may improve over long time with good blood flow). Further, I was not fully able to "run off" plaque in the immidiate vicinity of the inflammation lump inner left. Important; the high speed running is not for everyone, consult your doctor first, many with PD have underlying isses. Careful!

It can make the penis to bend upward or to the side. Most men with Peyronie's disease can still have sex. But for some, it’s difficult or painful. There are treatments, but it’s not always needed because the condition can fade on its own. What Causes Peyronie's Disease? Doctors don’t know exactly why Peyronie's disease happens. Many researchers believe the plaque can start after trauma (hitting or bending) that causes bleeding inside the penis. You might not notice the injury or trauma. Other cases, which develop over time, may be linked to genes. In some men, injury and genes could both be involved. Who Gets Peyronie's Disease? Although it mostly happens in middle-aged men, younger and older men can get it. It becomes more common as a man gets older. But it’s not a normal part of aging. Can Peyronie's Disease Be Treated? Yes, but you might not need it. Since the condition improves without treatment in some men, doctors often suggest waiting 1 to 2 years or longer before they try to correct it. Mild cases of the condition rarely need treatment. Also, the pain that comes from Peyronie's disease happens only with an erection and is usually mild. If it’s not causing a problem with your sex life, treatment may not be necessary. Traction Device For Peyronie's
Click the link: http://tinyurl.com/ybq8ojda - Traction Device For Peyronie's A bent penis can be a source of genuine concern for a man. Yes, a little curvature in the penis is common, but when the curvature is severe, it can create both physical and emotional problems. Most men with a severely bent penis are considered to have Peyronie's disease, named after the doctor who first described it medically. Since sexual and penis health can be impacted by Peyronie's, it helps to be aware of what treatments are out there for this condition. In 2016, the World Journal of Men's Health published "Nonsurgical Interventions for Peyronie's Disease: Update as of 2016," an overview of the existing treatments for a bent penis. Following is a distillation of the information contained in that article. Traction Device For Peyronie's Background First, a little about Peyronie's disease. The Mayo Clinic describes this disorder as "the development of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis that causes curved, painful erections." This scar tissue usually develops due to injury to the penis. For example, a man might be struck in the penis by a baseball, might slam his erection into a hard surface or might simply experience repeated rough (if pleasurable) handling during sex. Such activities create trauma in the penis; as it heals (even from small traumas like rough handling), scar tissue forms. If that tissue forms repeatedly in one area, it prevents the skin from stretching properly, causing the penis to bend during an erection. Traction Device For Peyronie's Treatments Among the treatment options are: 1. Oral options. A wide range of pills are sometimes used in treating Peyronie's, including vitamin E, tamoxifen, L-carnitine and tadalafil. Such options are typically employed first, as they are the easiest treatment available. Typically, these therapies show results in cases where the scar tissue is less intense. Some of these options are also available for topical application directly on the penis skin. 2. Injections. More persistent cases may respond to the injection of medication directly in the area where the scar tissue build-up is pronounced. As of this writing, only one drug is approved for this method in the U.S. Many men resist this treatment as, understandably, the idea of injecting a needle into the penis does not appeal to them. Traction Device For Peyronie's 3. Traction. Traction therapy essentially works to pull the penis back into shape. A man wears (for several hours each day), a device that attaches to the penis and exerts force to pull it in the opposite direction of the curve. Traction devices tend to work best in conjunction with other therapies rather than on their own. 4. Shock wave therapy. A more recent addition, shock wave therapy uses high amplitude pulses of energy directed at the penis. Typically used on joint and tendon issues, the therapy seems to help with the pain that some experience from Peyronie's but has not yet been shown to make much difference in the curvature. Traction Device For Peyronie's 5. Surgery. There are several surgical approaches to correct the curvature of Peyronie's. Because some cases correct themselves over time, surgery is usually recommended only when the bent penis has been an issue for a year or longer and/or when the physical or emotional distress it causes is significant. Whatever approach a man may take to treat a bent penis due to Peyronie's disease, he is better positioned if his penis is in good health - and that is more easily obtained when he regularly utilizes a top drawer penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Some of the best crème contains both vitamin E and L-carnitine, which are sometimes used to help treat Peyronie's. The best crème will also include vitamin D, the "miracle vitamin" that has proven benefits in fighting diseases and supporting healthy cellular function. Dr. Stephen Mark is a Urological Surgeon based in Christchurch, New Zealand. In this WebVNR interview Dr. Mark discusses Peyronie's Disease: what it is, what's known about it and what can be done to treat and manage it. WebVNR asks Dr. Mark: - What is Peyronie's Disease? - What are the risks if Peyronie's Disease is left untreated? - What causes Peyronie's Disease? - Is Peyronie's Disease hereditary? - How does Peyronie's Disease affect people's lives? - What are the current treatment options for Peyronie's Disease? - What is the current research around Peyronie's Disease? - How important is Peyronie's Disease research? - Where should people go for more information about Peyronie's Disease? - What would you say to people who are suffering from Peyronie's Disease? According to Andrology Australia: Peyronie's disease (named after François de la Peyronie, surgeon to King Louis XV of France) is the hardening of tissue (fibrosis) in the penis. A lump or scar tissue (plaque) forms on the lining of the erectile tissue which holds much of the blood in the penis during erection. The hardened area or plaque prevents normal stretching and can impact on the size and shape of the erect penis. Peyronie's disease can be painful, reduce flexibility, and in some cases shorten or create a bend or hour-glass effect in the penis when erect. Some men find it difficult to get or keep erections, or the penis only becomes rigid up to the area of the scar and remains flaccid past that point. About one in every hundred men, develop this disease, although definite numbers are hard to determine as many men do not recognise the problem or seek medical attention as symptoms are mild. Please share this video with others who are looking to find out about Peyronie's disease.
