The diet is based upon the patient's medical record, physical examination, functional examination and dietary history. Renal nutrition therapy for kidney disease
In the United States, one in three adults is at risk for developing kidney disease. Risk factors include diabetes, hypertension or high blood pressure, family history of kidney disease, heart disease and recurrent urinary tract infections. The good news is that three of these factors – diabetes, hypertension and heart disease – can be improved with renal nutrition therapy. Vanessa Rojas-Bautista, RDN is a clinical renal dietitian at UC Irvine Health. In this presentation, she explains how dietitians can help those who are either at risk for Chronic Kidney Disease or who already have a diagnosis. Rojas-Bautista explains how an individualized nutrition prescription works and how a balanced diet can prevent kidney disease. Nutritional Management For Diabetes
Nutritional Management; Nutrition management is fundamental for the prevention of type 2 diabetes and effective management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The aim is for people with diabetes to obtain the knowledge, skills and confidence to make appropriate food choices to reduce risk, improve glycaemic control and quality of life. With new diagnostic criteria anticipated to increase the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK by a third, structured evidence-based dietary education will be an effective way to save on medical costs for prescription drugs.1 Nutrition Nutrition therapy has led to reductions in HbA1c of 1-2 per cent in people with newly diagnosed and existing type 2 diabetes.2 Dietary interventions can improve glycaemic control whilst also halting and even reversing progression of beta-cell failure and insulin resistance, thus reducing medication use in type 2 diabetes.3-5 Nutrition therapy can result in reduced health service utilisation and costs, and the savings may actually exceed the cost of providing the service.1,6 Intensive nutrition therapy has resulted in weight loss and improved glycaemic control at six months,5 12 months3 and four years.7 When insulin resistance dominates, weight loss is an effective strategy that increases insulin sensitivity, improving glycaemic control.8 Subscribe link http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=yogatutorials

Medical Nutrition Therapy sample interview by PHA
This presentation is an example of a videoconference of Medical Nutrition Therapy by TNT (TeleNutrition Therapy, Inc). Here, a registered dietitian (RD) engages a young diabetic woman in a followup visit. Medical Nutrition Therapy is disease assessment from a nutritional perspective and a lifestyle modification program to address that disease. Lifestyle modifications include diet, oral supplements, exercise, self-testing, illness self-management and other activities to improve and maintain wellness. This session shows what the client sees from video camera. It demonstrates the use of graphics (power point slides) and physical modeling (where to stick finger for glucose monitoring). Notice the way the instructor uses "hooks" to link patient goals to positive behavior and negotiate step-wise activity and dietary changes in a charming and persuasive way. The skill demonstrated is extraordinary and unique to these RD/disease managers. MNT has been shown in Diabetics to reduce Hemoglobin A1c values a full point on average after just one session. Other independent studies of the TNT technique have stopped or delayed diabetic kidney disease progression over 90%. MNT is fully covered by MEDICARE. Questions about TNT: contact Dr. Blair at Abledocmd@gmail.com

PrescriptFit Medical Nutrition Therapy
MNT is the primary treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus. Medication should be added only after diet fails to produce significant changes in blood sugar. Many people with diabetes experience something called diabetic neuropathy, which is nerve damage, frequently described as burning in the feet or legs. These symptoms typically improve, especially if present for only a few years. Other conditions related to diabetes usually improve with MNT as well, including: hypertension, edema (swelling), elevated cholesterol/triglycerides, sleep disorders, fatigue, and depression. Study each applicable disease section, and complete the Disease/Symptom Questionnaires in the Workbook Calendar to track exactly how MNT helps with diabetes-related symptoms.
