My Best Marketing Strategies for [2018] | Creative Growth Plans for Business

04:53
Want to know my marketing strategy for 2018? ►►Subscribe here to learn more of my secret SEO tips: https://goo.gl/ScRTwc Find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neilkpatel/ Read more on my blog: https://neilpatel.com/blog 2018 is going to be an exciting year. The analysis on how much money we're spending to generate the traffic and here's what's crazy, most people don't realize this, we generate, let's say a million visitors a month on Neil Patel. Do you know what the cost to get there is with video, production, podcasting, blogging, promotion, ads, link building? $110,000 a month. That's what it averaged out to for 2017. Here are my marketing strategies for 2018. I just bought a blog in the marketing space for a half a million bucks. They get a million visitors a month, and it's cheaper to spend money acquiring people who already have the traffic. So in 2017, I bought Uber Suggest, I think it was around 140 grand. They had very little traffic. I 381 redirected the site, traffic increased and guess what happened? Nothing. I hoped that my traffic would go through the roof, but nothing happened. Uber Suggest was a good acquisition and what I ended up learning from that is, who cares about links? Don't buy anything for the links. Buy it purely based off of traffic and just pay a simple metric. If Uber Suggest has roughly 200,000 visitors per month, I paid a hundred and something; I would have paid 200 grand, the money didn't matter. For a blog that I just spent half a million on, their traffic ranges. On a horrible month, they'll get around 800,000 uniques. In a perfect month, they'll get around, like, 1.2, 1.3 million uniques, and all I'm doing right now is buying as many blogs as possible. My marketing strategy for 2018 is to buy blogs based on of traffic. I look at the top posts that they have and how qualified their visitors are and determine if I can successfully monetize their content. I don't even care if they have revenue. If they don't have revenue, even better. The problem with Search Engine Journal is that they have conferences, they have advertising, and they have contracts for all of it. I don't care for any of that. I just want the traffic. So when you buy all these people for traffic and then you put it into your monetization flow, you can quickly figure out, what is this worth? If I can't make my money back in less than 12 months, I will not buy it. The other marketing strategy that I use when I'm buying these sites is to look for blogs that aren't monetized well. The blog that I ended up buying for half a million bucks, they're not even making three grand a month. If you're not even making three grand a month, that's a good deal, right? They're like; you're going to give me half a million dollars for this? No problem. Another creative marketing strategy I'm doing right now, is trying to buy a really popular marketing tool. I don't want to pay them all the money they're asking for because they want well into the millions, and it isn't worth it. But, I'm trying to work out a deal where I give them X amount of money up front, let's say a million dollars, and then give them a hundred thousand a month over X amount of months or a hundred thousand a year over X amount of years. When I see inefficiencies in sites, I figure I can purchase them and double the revenue because they aren't optimized for traffic or conversions. So buy it for what it's worth, optimize it, and then use the profits to pay them out continually. That way you're not using all of your money and the business is paying, you may have spent a bit more money, but personally, you don't have to spend as much money, and that's my marketing strategy for 2018. My goal is to spend at least $5 million acquiring businesses purely based on their traffic. If you need help or have questions about online or digital marketing or of you're a small business looking for help, leave a comment or question below and I'll personally answer and help you in any way I can!

Guerilla Marketing Example - Coca-Cola Happiness Vending Machine

02:04
Check out this Guerrilla Marketing Example! ATLANTA, May 28, 2010 -- Since January 12, 2010, hidden camera footage of smiling students getting more than they bargained for from a Coke vending machine has been viewed by more than 2.2 million people on YouTube. Last night, the Coca-Cola "Happiness Machine" was awarded CLIO‟s prestigious Gold Interactive Award at the 51st annual awards dinner held in New York City. A CLIO award is one of the world‟s most recognized industry accolades for advertising, design and communications. The "Happiness Machine" video, the result of a collaboration between Coca-Cola and integrated interactive marketing agency Definition 6, features a Coca-Cola vending machine transformed to deliver surprising "doses" of happiness to unsuspecting college students. Shot on location at the Queens, NY, campus of St. John's University, the outwardly typical Coke machine, was placed in the center of the student cafeteria, in full view of five strategically placed hidden cameras. What ensued was totally unscripted. Over 2 days of filming, the hidden cameras captured the spontaneous reactions of the students as the machine dispensed an array of goodies including, flowers, pizzas, sunglasses, a twelve-foot „hero‟ sub and a seemingly never ending supply of Coca-Cola. "Happiness is contagious. When you see people smiling, you want to smile." said Wendy Clark, SVP, Integrated Marketing Communications and Capabilities, The Coca-Cola Company. "This human truth is at the heart the idea. In the video, you see genuine surprise and delight on the students‟ faces when they interact with the Coca-Cola "Happiness Machine" and witness the generosity that ensues as they come together to share in the moments of happiness. It is such a simple yet compelling concept and one that so accurately portrays Coca-Cola for what it ultimately is; one of life‟s simple pleasures." Earlier this week, the "Happiness Machine" video reached its biggest audience yet as a 30-second edit of the footage debuted during American Idol‟s season finale. "Coke's goal to inspire consumers through small, surprise moments of happiness served as the ideal creative motivation to us," said Paul Iannacchino Jr., Creative Director, Definition 6. "Our strategy was to deliver doses of happiness in an unexpected, innovative way to engage not only the students, but the audience at large. Whether you were present during the shoot or experiencing the event online, our goal was the same - to put a smile on your face and share that emotional connection." The "Happiness Machine" video is part of Coca-Cola‟s global integrated marketing campaign, "Open Happiness," which invites people around the world to bring positivity, optimism and fun into their lives. Launched in 2009, at the core of the campaign is the message to consumers to open a Coke and share a little happiness. This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. How Coca-Cola is looking to win back global market share

03:41
At the recent launch of Coca-Cola’s new 'One Brand' global marketing strategy in Dubai, Sharon Keith, Marketing Director, Coca-Cola S.A., explains the shift and the thinking behind it… “We have tested these [new] ads, and tested the campaign amongst teenagers and Millennials, and we’ve had very positive responses,” says Keith. “We will never move away from our commitment to the communities, and the countries that we service.” She notes that for Millennials in particular, proximity is a key factor. “While it may be important to hear about big global causes (flood relief, global warming, etc) what Millennials care most about is their immediate environment,” explains Keith. “So we need to be [as a brand] authentic and real…” Keith adds that this was the key learning from the ‘Open Happiness’ campaign… “We were potentially getting into areas that we couldn’t deliver on,” she says. “We can’t instantly make people happy, but we can give them a simple moment of pleasure. So we’re bringing [the brand] closer, and we are making sure that it’s relevant to the people we are talking to…” With regards to being a ‘brand central’ campaign as opposed to a ‘product central’ campaign, Keith says that the company is confident in its ability to integrate all of the variants into the advertising material. shutterstock_364560299 “Sometimes you will see the original Coke in a poster, sometimes you will see Coke Light, or Coke Zero, and sometimes you will see all three,” she explains. “Just as people love seeing themselves, they love to see their variant. Where we were getting tangled up was in seeing them [Coke Light, Coke Zero, etc] not as variants, but as brands – and I’m not sure they were the size in Southern Africa to warrant brand status…relative to Coca-Cola original, they are much smaller [in this market]. ”
