Just throwing this out there to provoke thought ... Everyone is aware of the story of Adam and Eve, but Lilith is a name that is not really recognised by everyone regarding the creation story. Real Sista setting the record straight on the myths regarding the feminine energy, speaking about the various prophecies and the many different aspects of the Goddess 'The Great Mother' Lilith. Here you find that not many people are aware of her existence, nor of her return. Legend has it that, Lilith was created in the same way that God created Adam from the Earth (Dust). Lilith was Adam's equal and refused to serve under him because of this. It was for this reason that Eve was created, to serve Adam, it was said that she was created from a rib taken from the chest of Adam to serve him. This is the reason that Eve is seen as the mother of all mankind. Lilith was cursed and cast-out of the garden according to the myth for her disobedience. While other stories have emerged that suggest that she ran away from Adam because she did not want to serve as anything but his equal. The price that she had to pay for this, introduces the story of how she was demonised and painted as a harlot and made to look like an evil witch, she was reported to be some kind of fiend who was dangerous. Among the many titles given to Lilith were: Ancient Demon Dark Deity Sex Goddess 'Lilith’s themes are freedom, courage, playfulness, passion, pleasure and sexuality. Her symbol is an apple. In Hebrew legends, Lilith is a dangerously beautiful Goddess who refused to subordinate Herself to Adam, feeling She was created as an equal. This makes Lilith perhaps the first true liberationist, and She resolves to make modern life similarly equal for all people. She also boldly instructs us to stand up for what we believe in, unbridled and courageous, no matter the cost. Dr. Michael Heiser explains how the Bible uses chaos and creation language—chaos imagery is present in both testaments. The Bible does not mention dinosaurs or cohabitation during the biblical period. I know many Christians think that the Bible requires simultaneous habitation, due to their view of Genesis and “Leviathan” and “behemoth” in the wisdom literature, but that simply isn’t the case. There is no such biblical requirement. What exactly does leviathan refer to in the Book of Job? The OT often points out or opposes specific truths found in local ancient literature of its day. We know that the book of Job is referencing the pagan mythological sources for many reasons: • Job 7:12 refers to Yam (also Yamm) the Ugaritic sea and river god. Also, Tanninim (Tunannu in Ugaritic) the Canaanite, Phoenician, and Hebrew sea monster (comparable to the Leviathan of Job 41:1) • Job 9:13 refers to Rahab (Tiamat in the Enûma Eliš) the Mesopotamian sea beast—see also Psalm 104, Psalm 89: 5–12, and Isaiah 51:9–10 • Tannin appears in the Ba’al Cycle as one of the servants of Yam (lit. sea) defeated by Ba’al (lit. lord) or bound by his sister, ’Anat. He’s usually depicted as serpentine. • In The Babylonian story, Marduk slays Tiamat, the chaotic sea- monster and mother of all gods, whose husband, Apsu, had plans to do away with her noisy children, the rest of the gods. Marduk then uses the corpse of Tiamat to create the world as we know it. Assyria was a civilization centered on the Upper Tigris river, in Mesopotamia (Iraq), that came to rule regional empires a number of times in history. Benjamin Alley, the teacher for the series, has a Master of Divinity degree, a Master of Arts in Biblical Languages degree, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Archaelogy degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a licensed minister and has served on staff in several churches. Benjamin currently teaches adult Christian education classes at Chinese Bible Mission Church in Alhambra, California. FINANCIAL WISDOM Chapter 2 - The Richest Man in Babylon

The Richest Man in Babylon is a book by George Samuel Clason which dispenses financial advice through a collection of parables set in ancient Babylon. Through their experiences in business and managing household finance, the characters in the parables learn simple lessons in financial wisdom. Originally a series of separate informational pamphlets distributed by banks and insurance companies, the pamphlets were bound together and published in book form in 1926. The Richest Man in Babylon Bansir and Kobbi meet with Arkad, asking him why fate has favored him so much that Arkad has grown rich while they remain poor, even though they've worked harder than Arkad has. Arkad replies that he was once a hard working scribe who made a deal with a very rich man, Algamish, for the secret to wealth in return for a much needed copy of a law immediately scribed into clay. The rich man agreed and the next day, when Arkad delivered the carving, the rich man delivered in return the secret of wealth. "I found the road to wealth," he said, "When I decided that a part of all I earned was mine to keep. And so will you." (emphasis in the original) Arkad then relates that he asked the same question that is undoubtedly on Bansir and Kobbi's minds, "Isn't all that I make mine to keep?" Algamish then said no, that a man had to pay for his clothes, for his food, etc., but that if he regularly saved at least a tenth of his income (and as much more as he could afford to save) and put that money to work earning interest, he would become wealthy. A part of all you earn is yours to keep Arkad relates that he did as advised, saving a tenth of his income for a year, then investing that money with a brickmaker who went on a journey to buy jewels to trade. He related this to Algamish, who castigated Arkad for this foolishness. "Every fool must learn," he said, "But why trust the knowledge of a brickmaker about jewels? Would you go to the breadmaker to inquire about the stars?" Algamish then said, "He who takes advice about his savings from one who is inexperienced in such matters, will pay with his savings for proving the falsity of their opinions." Arkad then saved his money for another year, and he invested it with Agger the shield maker who used it to buy materials; every fourth month Agger paid Arkad rent for the use of these funds. Arkad spent these dividends on fine clothing and regularly scheduled feasts. Algamish comments that Arkad is "eating the children of his savings" by not investing them. Arkad adjusts his behavior and when he finally meets with Algamesh two years later, Algamish is so pleased with how Arkad has taken his lessons to heart, he hires Arkad as a manager of his estate in Nippur. By continuing to save and invest wisely, Arkad relates that he became the wealthy man that he is now.

The sundial showcased in this video was designed by Otto Klotz, an astronomer who worked at the Dominion Observatory. It was made by Pritchard and Andrews, a company from Ottawa, Canada. Chaim Eisen, has been stimulating audiences with his lectures on the Bible and Biblical commentary and Jewish thought and philosophy for thirty years. Yeshivath Sharashim’s premise is empowering participants worldwide by equipping them with the most potent tool at our disposal: knowledge — ultimately, knowledge of God. Especially today, we can palpably sense a growing hunger and thirst, as expressed by the prophet Amos: “Behold, days are coming, says God the Lord, when I shall send a famine in the land, not a famine for bread nor a thirst for water, but to hear the words of God” (Amos 8:11). In the end, we know this hunger and thirst will be satisfied only when “the earth will be full of knowledge of God, as the waters cover the seabed” (Isaiah 11:9). In practice, the hunger and thirst manifest themselves in different ways for different people. Tragically, much of the world has drifted so far from God that only an amorphous emptiness endures: a rampant dissatisfaction with a life devoid of true meaning that remains clueless as to a solution. Perhaps more tragic, however, is the plight of those — both Jews and Gentiles — who remain stalwart in a religious commitment that no longer inspires or inspirits. They crave the vibrancy and vitality that closeness to God should engender but have lost touch with Him and His word. Yeshivath Sharashim maintains that, as in Amos’s prophecy, hearing “the words of God” is the key. Far from facilely quoting from Scripture or later religious works, we must predicate addressing people’s theological, philosophical, and spiritual problems upon seriously confronting primary texts. Only by answering the question “What is God’s word saying?” can we approach the question “What is God’s word saying to us?” This is the focus of all our educational programs: Delve deeply into whatever sources are the subject of discussion, and thus extract their salient messages that impact upon our lives. At Yeshivath Sharashim, this mandate’s practical application is perforce a work in progress. Thus, one of the initial educational programs is an inspirational weekly webcast progressing serially through the Hebrew Bible, beginning with the weekly Torah portions read in synagogues on the Sabbath. This series does not presume any proficiency in Hebrew Scriptures. However, it unabashedly presupposes a sincerely seeking and spiritually sensitive audience of both Jews and Gentiles striving to connect on a deeper plane to God’s first and foremost revelation to humanity — the Hebrew Bible. Another initial focus in Yeshivath Sharashim’s educational programs is direct, unmediated confrontation with the timeless classics of Jewish thought. A systematic, text-based approach stresses basic methodology and critical analysis, through which to master, and be moved by, these masterpieces. Simultaneously, important ideas within general, religious, and specifically Jewish philosophies, prerequisites of such incisive thinking, are developed. We believe these works articulate Judaism’s fundamentals most comprehensively and are the most relevant to the crises of faith besetting our world nowadays. Dedicated participants should expect to glean, from the primary sources, raw materials to begin formulating an individual religious philosophy. To this end, we challenge them to draw upon expertise in all branches of Torah and general knowledge and enable them to translate the philosophy they synthesize into a practical, all-encompassing commitment in their lives. There are many legitimate, “right” answers. This is a lifelong endeavor embracing everything. Predictably, as it develops, Yeshivath Sharashim anticipates initiating additional educational programs to advance this ongoing process. The destiny toward which all these programs direct is that which Jews affirm three times daily in prayer: “to perfect the world through the reign of the Almighty” (“Aleinu”). Today, perhaps more than ever, advancing this goal obliges us all — both Jews and Gentiles. Like a users’ manual, God’s Torah empowers us to make the most of our lives. Its proper study both informs and inspires, summoning us relentlessly to be all we can be, always.
