How UC Berkeley's Language Lab Make The Most of 1 Netbook Pt 2
http://www.netbooknews.com Budget cuts are still taking place in schools all over the world and netbooks are dropping in price making them attractive alternatives. Before the economic down turn UC Berkeley spent the money to build in audio visual equipment into the language labs but the budget got cut right before the final piece of the puzzle was purchased. All the teachers at UC Berkeley needed was a netbook, a laptop, a computer to make sure of the screen and projectors built into the classrooms. Enter Toshiba, who generously donated 3 netbooks to the Spanish and Portuguese department to help them make the most of time in the language lab. The question is what exactly do they do with the netbooks? How does each classroom actually share the resources of 1 netbook with 20 students? Getting creative with just one computer has been the challenge for many teachers in search of a lesson plan. Language lab instructor Juan Caballero has broken down exactly what programs he uses and how the students use the netbook to engage their peers. So how are single netbook's making a difference in the classroom? The students make power point presentation for the classroom and present on various topics in Spanish or Portugese using the projector as a visual aid Class materials are show rather then printed out or shown on an over head projector Make full use of online and next generation textbooks which often include audio and video files Transcribing oral presentations and then facilitating class discussions regarding grammar If you want to see exactly how this comes together Caballero has shot a video demonstrating how he uses his Toshiba netbook.

What Programming Language Should I Learn First?
Start learning python by building projects in under 5 minutes TODAY – Even if you're a complete beginner... http://cleverprogrammer.to/enroll ★☆★READ FULL DEPTH BLOG POST★☆★ https://www.cleverprogrammer.com/blog/2017/3/26/top-4-reasons-why-you-need-to-learn-computer-programming ★☆★Enroll in Learn Python OOP™ to Create Apps Using Python★☆★ http://cleverprogrammer.to/enroll ★☆★ How to Teach Yourself Code ★☆★ https://youtu.be/CzscINpDIug ★☆★ Why You Should Learn To Code - Top 4 Reasons ★☆★ https://youtu.be/Jlknj_wq8CQ ★☆★PYTHON BEGINNER BOOK RECOMMENDATION★☆★ http://amzn.to/2cDhHlZ Should you start off with Java, C++, C, Python, Javascript, SQL, Swift, Objective-C or what!?? ... Feeling overwhelmed yet before you even began your journey as a software developer? If so, good! The point of this video is to discuss all of that in a simple way and clarify common misconceptions among beginning coders when they are about to start. We discuss different programming languages and suggest which language you should perhaps start off with first. You can always switch over later! The important thing is to understand the concepts in a computer programming language especially as a beginner. Do not try to deal with both conceptual difficulty and syntactical difficulty at the same time. Imagine if you never knew any human language and you tried to start off by learning Japanese as an adult, that would be really tough. Start simple, learn the concepts, then transition to another language. We will talk about which languages to avoid as a beginner! ★☆★ MY PROJECT AGILE DIRECTIONS: ★☆★ https://goo.gl/rYFyR8 I worked on this project with my friend. Never knew ANY Javascript but picked it up within one day and built this whole thing together with my friend in about 1-2 days. The idea behind the app is to be able to download commonly visited locations on an excel sheet and print them so when your GPS dies on you... You are still good to go. I did a lot of private chess lessons and I depended on my GPS for the job. However, sometimes it died on me in very critical situations and that almost got me fired from my job. This app was made for people who can use this in order to not have to rely on GPS solely to get to their destination. ------------------------------------ Clever Programmer Website ► http://cleverprogrammer.com Facebook ► http://cleverprogrammer.to/facebook Twitter ► http://cleverprogrammer.to/twitter Instagram ► http://cleverprogrammer.to/instagram YouTube ► https://www.youtube.com/c/CleverProgrammer Snapchat ► Rafeh1 ... UD CEHD Talks: Sharon Walpole
Sharon Walpole, professor in the University of Delaware School of Education, discusses Bookworms, the elementary English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum she developed with research colleague Michael McKenna. Bookworms is an open-source database of reading lesson plans and resources for teachers that aims to increase students’ ability to learn phonemic awareness, word recognition, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Highly interactive lesson plans are divided into three general categories including teachers reading aloud, shared reading and small group work. Unlike most curricula, Bookworms uses “real” books rather than expensive reading packages, while achieving the standards of difficulty found in the Common Core State Standards. Schools that have implemented Booksworms into their lessons plans have found their students become more skills writers and are more eager to read on their own. How To Use Zwift | Zwift For Beginners
Thanks to Zwift for the products used in this video, all views are the presenters own. Zwift is an online virtual cycling world that allows you to ride, train or race with other cyclists from around the globe! Si and Matt are here to let you know the basics for being able to use the increasingly popular platform. Subscribe to GCN: http://gcn.eu/SubscribeToGCN Are you a Zwift user? Let us know how you are finding it in the comments below 👇 Ex-professional cyclists Simon Richardson and Matt Stephens are here with all you need to know about starting up with Zwift. You will need an account, head over to http://gcn.eu/ZwiftBeginner and sign-up, you can start with a free trial. You will need an indoor trainer, and something that tells Zwift how fast you are riding. For a basic setup this can be a speed sensor that communicates with Zwift. A more advanced setup is using a powermeter which transmits all metrics to the software. The most accurate setup though, is to use a smart trainer. This will also increase/decrease pedalling resistance dependant on terrain and if you are slipstreaming for instance. You will also need a towel, drink, and we advise using a fan to help keep you cool. Something also worth considering is the Zwift app, this is used as a remote control for the features available. There are three different worlds that you can ride in, these are: Watopia - South Pacific Paradise, 8 routes and 42km of roads Richmond - 4 routes and 18.9km of roads London - 8 routes and 27.5km of roads Zwift has a calendar to show when the different courses/routes are available to ride on as well as group rides and races that are being hosted if you wish to join in the fun. Choosing a route is simple and then you can go for a ride, you can even choose to turn onto a different route as well as doing a U-Turn and riding the other way if you see someone you would like to ride with for example. The screen setup shows all the metrics you need, including gradient and where you are on a route/ride. You can also see where you in comparison to others riding, as well as the watts per kg that they are outputting! You can even customise your clothing and bike appearance onscreen, including an unlockable GCN kit! Not forgetting being able to wave at others, flick the elbow and even give other users a 'Ride-on' There are plenty of training sessions and workouts on Zwift, including 32 GCN workouts and you can even create your own. After any activity the ride data is displayed and can be saved/uploaded to your profile on sites such as Strava, Training Peaks etc. If you'd like to contribute captions and video info in your language, here's the link 👍 http://gcn.eu/nr Watch more on GCN... How to give the BEST PowerPoint presentation!
A bad PowerPoint presentation can be confusing, annoying, and boring. In this video, I'll give you my best tips for using PowerPoint in your presentations, whether they are for work or school. I'll talk about what makes a good presentation and what can ruin your presentation. You'll also learn how to use fonts, templates, and color to improve your slides. Do you know how much information to put on each slide? I'll answer that question and many more in this tutorial on using PowerPoint! Take a quiz on this video at http://www.engvid.com/how-to-give-the-best-powerpoint-presentation/ For more free presentation help, including advice for English learners gving presentations in English, go to http://www.presentationprep.com/ TRANSCRIPT Do you have to make presentations? Do you hate presentations? I like presentations, but one thing that you are probably maybe good at with presentations are making PowerPoint presentations, because you have visual aids to help you so you don't really have to talk as much, if you're nervous about talking. Presentation skills is something that you can work on. We have videos on www.engvid.com to help you with presentation skills. So, go and check those out for learning how to speak during presentations. But what we're going to focus on today is the visual aspect of presentations, so your PowerPoint things. Some things to do, and some things not to do. So, here we are, presentation skills. The first thing and one of the things that makes these presentations so fun are pictures. But we have to be careful. The templates that you have already included in your presentation software, they're boring. People use them all the time. So, I suggest you try and download some other pictures to make your presentation more interesting. And with that, make sure that on one slide you have one image. Make it interesting. Do not have a split screen. So, don't have two images on one slide. Do not have a collage, that's insane. A collage is many different small pictures on one screen. Even when I see a collage, there's a lot of collages coming out on Facebook now, and I'm like: "Too many pictures. Can't understand." Our brains just cannot comprehend all those pictures, especially when you're having the slide up for a short period of time. Don't make it like a photo album. Don't put millions and seven pictures, and... Keep it simple. Put a single image on each slide. Try and pick images that you actually like, and not too distracting. You don't want puppy dogs and things. Make something simple, but something that you like, and make sure it looks nice. The next one you have to worry about is the lettering. So, the lettering, you also might know this as the font. So, font and lettering are the same. One thing that you do not want to do is have really fancy or beautiful lettering. Simply... The reason is some people can't read when the letters are fancy, especially if you are doing presentations for people whose... Do not have English as their first language, if you take the letters and you write them even cursive, a lot of people have problems reading cursive. So, I suggest you use something more traditional. There's lots of very easy-to-read fonts you can get from your... Whatever word processing you use. So, make it simple, easy to read. Another problem that you might have is the script is too big or too small. So remember that when you're making your presentation, you're doing it probably on your laptop, or your desktop, or your iPad, or your phone, so the font or the lettering is going to be different than when you put it up on the projector. So if at all possible if you can, check it out before you do the presentation. Look at your... Hook up your laptop or whatever, and see if you can actually see it on the screen because the font is different. You might think that on your laptop it's a good size, but when it gets on the projection screen, it's tiny; or it takes up too much space and it's too big. Next up are the words or the text. So, there's been studies done on how many lines of text a human can absorb or understand, and any more than six, you've lost the people. So, try and keep on each slide one very simple image, with very traditional clear text, and put only two or three lines on each slide. Don't put bullet points. If you have more than six lines or if you have bullet points, again, we just... We just can't remember them all. We just lose focus. We have something called too much information, too much info, TMI. "Too much information" means that if you have more than two or three lines, we're just not getting it. Our brain can't... We just can't learn it like you want us to.
Why you should make useless things | Simone Giertz
In this joyful, heartfelt talk featuring demos of her wonderfully wacky creations, Simone Giertz shares her craft: making useless robots. Her inventions -- designed to chop vegetables, cut hair, apply lipstick and more -- rarely (if ever) succeed, and that's the point. "The true beauty of making useless things [is] this acknowledgment that you don't always know what the best answer is," Giertz says. "It turns off that voice in your head that tells you that you know exactly how the world works. Maybe a toothbrush helmet isn't the answer, but at least you're asking the question." Python Programming Language: What can you do with Python? Get discount here: https://ecoursereview.com/python Read article: https://ecoursereview.com/fun-python-project-what-can-you-do-with-python/ As a general purpose programming language, Python can be used for multiple things. Python can be easily used for small, large, online and offline projects. The best options for utilizing Python are web development, simple scripting and data analysis. Below are a few examples of what Python will let you do: Web Development: You can use Python to create web applications on many levels of complexity. There are many excellent Python web frameworks including, Pyramid, Django and Flask, to name a few. Data Analysis: Python is the leading language of choice for many data scientists. Python has grown in popularity, within this field, due to its excellent libraries including; NumPy and Pandas and its superb libraries for data visualization like Matplotlib and Seaborn. Machine Learning: What if you could predict customer satisfaction or analyze what factors will affect household pricing or to predict stocks over the next few days, based on previous years data? There are many wonderful libraries implementing machine learning algorithms such as Scikit-Learn, NLTK and TensorFlow. Computer Vision: You can do many interesting things such as Face detection, Color detection while using Opencv and Python. Internet Of Things With Raspberry Pi: Raspberry Pi is a very tiny and affordable computer which was developed for education and has gained enormous popularity among hobbyists with do-it-yourself hardware and automation. You can even build a robot and automate your entire home. Raspberry Pi can be used as the brain for your robot in order to perform various actions and/or react to the environment. The coding on a Raspberry Pi can be performed using Python. The Possibilities are endless! Game Development: Create a video game using module Pygame. Basically, you use Python to write the logic of the game. PyGame applications can run on Android devices. Web Scraping: If you need to grab data from a website but the site does not have an API to expose data, use Python to scraping data. Writing Scripts: If you're doing something manually and want to automate repetitive stuff, such as emails, it's not difficult to automate once you know the basics of this language. Browser Automation: Perform some neat things such as opening a browser and posting a Facebook status, you can do it with Selenium with Python. GUI Development: Build a GUI application (desktop app) using Python modules Tkinter, PyQt to support it. Rapid Prototyping: Python has libraries for just about everything. Use it to quickly built a (lower-performance, often less powerful) prototype. Python is also great for validating ideas or products for established companies and start-ups alike. Python can be used in so many different projects. If you're a programmer looking for a new language, you want one that is growing in popularity. As a newcomer to programming, Python is the perfect choice for learning quickly and easily. Python offers a stepping stone into the world of programming. --- What Can You Do With Python? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxGB7LU4i1I --- Search terms: What can I do with Python python programming language for beginners python tutorial for beginners learn python scripting learn to code python learn python fast why you should learn python programming how to learn python learn python from scratch how to learn python for beginners learn python online best way to learn python Python programming for beginners #PythonCourse #learnpython --- Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EcourseReviews Twitter: https://twitter.com/EcourseReviews G+: https://plus.google.com/+Ecoursereview/posts Website: https://ecoursereview.com/
