For this USGBC+ video, we bring you to Silver Spring, Maryland, where a new development is under way that aims to bring a unique twist to the concept of sustainability and community integration. The Pearl is the first of four brand-new buildings within The Blairs Master Plan, which sets its sights on achieving both the highest level of sustainable design and sustainable community integration. Envisioned and headed by USGBC Silver member Tower Companies, this plan also includes a host of green spaces that, once completed, will be open to the public. We sat down with Tower Companies partner and visionary Jeffrey Abramson to get his thoughts on this new project and what it means for the Silver Spring community.

Although initially intended for people who work with horses, it soon became a children's classic. While outwardly teaching animal welfare, it also contains allegorical lessons about how to treat people with kindness, sympathy and respect.
