The $550 million Parklands Project redevelopment located with the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct near Griffith University, is one of the most significant urban renewal projects ever undertaken on the Gold Coast. When complete it will boast 82 townhouses, 18 apartment buildings, 18 dining and retail stores and seven hectares of parks and gardens built around a village heart. The master planned community is a shining example of how a project can be designed with sustainability in mind from the outset. The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) has awarded the project six leaf accreditation with a targeted five star Green Star still to come. Civil works commenced in 2014 with construction to continue through next year before handover to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation in 2017.
