Decades after Amherst building boom, is there a cancer cluster in Buffalo’s largest suburb? (Part 1)
Maria Rivero is not the only one in her Amherst neighborhood keeping count of neighbors touched by cancer. Hundreds of people in the area have been wondering the same thing, and they’ve created a Facebook group about it called the Dana Heights/Williamsville Cancer Research Project. More than 700 people have joined to share similar stories about their families and neighbors.

Cancer Clusters on Staten Island | MetroFocus
New York City Councilmember Joseph Borelli joined Rafael Pi Roman, host of MetroFocus, to discuss the alarmingly high rates of several different kinds of cancer in particular Staten Island neighborhoods. Those "cancer clusters" may be the result of the operation of a municipal landfill on Staten Island for several decades. Borelli, who represents the South Shore of Staten Island in the New York City Council, has long requested that the city conduct a health study in the borough to examine the possible connection between the landfill and the high cancer rates. His request was finally approved last year, when Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city would conduct a health study.

Indian Point: A Quiet Reality
Indian Point is sited in the most populous location of any US nuclear plant, 25 miles north of Manhattan, with 20 million people living within a 50-mile radius. A catastrophic accident at Indian Point could kill tens of thousands, cause many cancers, and render NYC and much of the Hudson Valley uninhabitable. However, contamination of groundwater and environmental damage to the Hudson River ecosystem are already occurring. Elevated cancer rates are evidenced by NYS Department of Health's interactive cancer cluster map, which is found at https://apps.nyhealth.gov/statistics/cancer/environmental_facilities/mapping/map This video project draws attention to radiological contamination found in groundwater sampled under the Indian Point Nuclear facility and the correlation with thyroid cancer found in adjacent communities. The film, instead of portraying a "what if" scenario based on a major nuclear disaster at the plant, instead urges all to consider the quiet reality that exists for the health and safety of our communities and how Indian Point may be impacting people living near it today. This video was made through Jacob Burns Film Center's Media Arts Lab's "Reel Green Change for Nonprofits" during the fall 2012 by participant Julia Church of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. Clearwater is working to close the aging, leaking Indian Point nuclear plant, which has reached the end of the 40-year lifespan for which it was designed, and stop the renewal of its license for an unthinkable 20 more years.

SO much has changed for the better and most are super surprised to hear this information. For example: 1. AIDS is reversible! 2. We can have unprotected sex and NOT pass it on to our HIV- partners when we are undetectable (if you are taking meds, you become undetectable quickly) 3. We can have HIV- babies when we are HIV+....easily!! 4. Medication is available and free to low cost in most parts of the world...AND.. 5. The medication is so much better today, the side effects are typically very minimal. Please SUBSCRIBE! So glad you stumbled onto my channel and found me. XOXO Described are 16 symptoms that I experienced from the time that I contracted HIV (summer of 2013) till my diagnosis on 2/15/16 two and half years later. Please understand that HIV symptoms are very similar to flu symptoms, other gastrointestinal issues, UTI related issues and more. If you have some of these symptoms, it doesn't necessarily mean you have HIV!! People worry unnecessarily, typically those who have had low risk exposures and they are certain they contracted the virus. There is a lot of unnecessary anxiety related to the fear of HIV. You should TEST if you are concerned. Please watch my other videos about my HIV/AIDS story for more information about what I went through and who I am. Our Economic and Spiritual Future from The Robes (Part 3) with Penny Kelly, Author
In part 3 of my conversation with Penny Kelly, The future-telling Robes share what our economic future looks like as tribes, or large “families”, of people live in clusters of a couple thousand people. Their economic structure is ordered around being self sufficient but connected to the rest of the world through a ‘global network’. This information was given before there was a world wide web. This economic structure allows people the time to grow spiritually and care for their health and well being. Particularly intriguing is how the future bathroom – or health room – functions!

Indian Point Nuke Plant Middle School Cancer Cluster
At a June 4, 2014 NRC annual assessment of Entergy's leaky Indian Point nuclear plant, Social Studies teacher Vicki Fox talks about incidents of cancer among colleagues and students at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown Heights, New York. The middle school is located a little over eight miles from the nuclear plant. The video ends with the following indictment of the NRC from eminent scientist John Gofman: "Licensing a nuclear power plant is in my view, licensing random premeditated murder. First of all, when you license a plant, you know what you're doing--so it's premeditated. You can't say, "I didn't know." Second, the evidence on radiation-producing cancer is beyond doubt...It is not a question any more: radiation produces cancer, and the evidence is good all the way down to the lowest doses." The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Annual Assessment on Entergy's Indian Point nuclear plant was held at Colonial Terrace, Cortlandt Manor, New York Thanks to Indian Point Safe Energy Coalition for video recording the June 4th NRC meeting & making the video available for remixing by choosing "Creative Commons" licensing. Rare eye cancer discovered in former Auburn University students  - NY Daily News
Rare eye cancer discovered in former Auburn University students  - NY Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/rare-eye-cancer-discovered-aubern-university-students-article-1.3963713. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAFYWKVEgLlTjYMMYoBLqLg?sub_confirmation=1 Ocular melanoma — an exceptionally rare type of eye cancer — has been discovered in 18 people in Huntersville, N.C., and Auburn, Ala. — many of whom attended the same college. The cancer, which typically affects six out of every one million people, was diagnosed in a 27-year-old patient after she started seeing flashes of light in her vision. Then multiple others began to come forward. Advertisement "He (the doctor) said, 'There's a mass there, there's something there, I don't know what it is, but it looks like it could be, you know, a tumor,'" Juleigh Green told CBS News. "It's like you had the breath knocked out of you, you know?" Green's Auburn University friend, Allison Allred, experienced the same phenomenon and heard the cancer diagnosis echoed after her doctor first believed she had only a detached retina. She has since had cancer return nine times times in six locations, most recently in her brain. Advertisement "I was just seeing some mild flashes of light for, say, 7 to 10 days," Allred said. "He said, 'Well, it's detached because there's a 10-millimeter melanoma sitting on it.'" Both women had the cancer-stricken eye removed. And then another friend of theirs, Ashley McCrary, started noticing black dots peppering her iris. She too was told she had cancer. "What's crazy is literally standing there," McCrary said, "I was like, 'Well, I know two people who've had this cancer." McCrary told her oncologist at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia about the bizarre coincidence that was plaguing her and her friends and now all three women are being studied by the hospital's team. There, a fourth woman, Lori Lee, — who also graduated from Auburn — is being treated for the rare illness but has so far kept her eye. Advertisement "This is a rare cancer, so it's not like you can just go anywhere and have anybody know anything really about it," Lee said. Since their diagnoses, surgeries and numerous treatments, the women have met 36 others who attended Auburn University and were eventually stricken by ocular melanoma thanks to a Facebook page that McCrary started. "We believe that when we're looking at what's going on in Huntersville, North Carolina (where there are more reported cases), and what's going on here, there is something that potentially links us together," she said. "Until we get more research into this, then we're not gonna get anywhere," added Lee. "We've got to have it so that we can start linking all of them together to try to find a cause, and then one day, hopefully, a cure." The Alabama Department of Health believes that "it would be premature to determine that a cancer cluster exists in the area," according to CBS, and Auburn University has said that they are hopeful more research leads to advancements in prevention and treatment. #Rare, #cancer, #discovered, #former, #AuburnUniversity, #students, #DailyNews #university, #friends, #students, #illness, #sidney, #discovered, #told, #cancer, #rare, #plaguing, #philadelphia, #oncologist, #graduated, #auburn

Cell phone antennas blamed for kindergarten cancer cases - Chicago Tribune - January 8th 2010.flv
BY JEREMY TANNER wpix.com 5:27 p.m. CST, January 8, 2010 BAYVILLE, N.Y. (WPIX) - A lawsuit is set to be filed Monday alleging that the cancer afflicting students and teachers of a Bayville school is caused by the dozens of cell phone antennas attached to a nearby water tower. Three young students of Bayville Primary School have already died of leukemia and many more are sick. "We believe as much as 30 percent of the teachers, administrative staff and employees have been diagnosed with some type of illness, cancer, leukemia and things of that nature," said Attorney Andrew Campanelli. A brief email to WPIX from the school district denies Campanelli's statement. However, the cell phone antennas are a painful reminder for Beverly Pacifico, whose son Mitchell, a student at Bayville, recently won a painful two-year battle with leukemia. "My son went through 102 weeks of chemotherapy," Pacifico said. His leukemia has been in remission for the past two years. Bayville is a public school, and those parents in the district without the financial means to enroll their child in a private school face a terrible decision. Madeleine Parrin, whose requests to transfer her children to neighboring public schools were denied, said, "It kills me every day when I drop them off or send them on the bus to go to that school." The lawsuit seeks to have the antennas removed, citing a village law that states that public property near a school or within a mile of residences cannot be used for profit. The cell phone antennas bring $200 thousand annually to the village coffers. So far, the mayor of Bayville has not returned phone calls from WPIX. Meeting Stella Martin's Family, and Mike Wendel
A video with Stella Martin introducing her family, who's lives have been impacted greatly from the illegal landfill in Palenville/Catskill, NY. Mike Wendel has been a blessing to meet through this experience, and faces a battle himself, down in Ellenville, Ulster County, NY. He has been using years of his own life to help others have a say about a 55 house cancer cluster, and knowing a deadly toxin is leaking into a crack in the NYC Aqueduct. Our issues are two separate places in Upstate NY, however we both face many of the same issues, punishments, neglect, corruption, etc. We have made a great choice to help combine our battles, as WE are Stronger Together, and We Will Be Heard along with many others forced to endure this certain type of insanity.

Experts Bird Poop Shuts Down Indian Point Nuclear Plant NYC Highest Cancer % USA
A gloop of bird poop was responsible for shutting down the Indian Point nuclear plant for a few hours last December, according to a state-commissioned report into the incident. The power plant automatically shut down when a string of dropping from a “large bird” fell into some of the plant’s electrical equipment and caused the reactor’s automatic shut down to trip, according to findings by Entergy, the company that runs the plant. “Damage was caused by a bird streamer. Streamers are long streams of excrement from large birds that are often expelled as a bird takes off from a perch,”company officials said in the report, ordered by Gov. Cuomo. http://nypost.com/2016/03/03/bird-poop-shut-down-indian-point-nuclear-plant/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link Shocking number of cancers around leaking nuclear plant near NYC… Tens of thousands of cases recently reported… “More than anywhere else in US”… “Why is this story not being covered by everybody?” — Teacher: “I can’t believe the number of teachers who have gotten cancer” Vicki Fox, teacher of social studies at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown Heights less than 10 miles from Indian Point (emphasis added): “My name is Vicki Fox, I’m a middle school teacher at a school that is just a few miles from Indian Point… I really can’t tell you how many teachers and students I’ve met there over the years who are survivors of cancer — specifically thyroid cancer. I was talking about this to a woman who is an aide… and she said ‘Oh, do you know that I had thyroid cancer?’… She’s just another. This year again I’m working with somebody who has had thyroid cancer. One of my students this year… he had cancer on his optic nerve and is almost blind. As I said, I can’t believe the number of teachers who have gotten cancer. And I think it’s because they live in this area.” ‘Indian Point – We are flirting with catastrophe’, The Big Picture RT, Feb 16, 2016: Reporter: “It’s an alarming story, and I thought of it as an alarming story ever since I started researching it, because there are some things that people generally don’t know… it gave me a feeling of, ‘Why is this story not being covered by everybody?’ So I went there [to Indian Point] and of course have been told by the company running it that it is safe, that the latest leak has been contained, and that there is nothing to worry about. But then I got to meet people who used to live in the area and they said that they had cancer, thyroid cancer, which was the biggest shocker to me since, again, it has been grossly under reported in the United States. Or even more so, people are just laughing at the suggestion that a nuclear plant operating 25 miles from New York City can cause cancer. So this was the biggest shocker”… Host: “If you’ve got a bunch of thyroid cancers around or downwind of Indian Point, that means that they’ve been venting radioactive gases?” Reporter: “That’s the way any nuclear plant in the world operates, it emits radiation. Whether in large doses in case of a leak, or in small doses, but it does emit it anyways — it’s just the way it operates… I come from part of the world where Chernobyl happened… it’s been taught in schools that thyroid cancer is caused by radiation. RESTRICTIONS: Broadcast: NO USE JAPAN, NO USE TAIWAN Digital: NO USE JAPAN, NO USE TAIWAN A study published in Cell Host & Microbe found that different stomach viruses tend to be more contagious when the virus particles cluster together. The scientists conducted the study by analyzing stool samples from patients who had rotavirus or norovirus. They found out that stomach virus such as norovirus and rotavirus cluster together to form "packs" of up to 40 viruses. The virus clusters — called vesicles — are then covered in a protective membrane. The virus inside the clusters are also quick to replicate inside the membrane to form more virus particles. According to the study, the protective membrane protects the virus clusters from being noticed by the immune system. As the vesicles pass through the immune system and into the intestine, it quickly separates and infects one single cell with multiple viruses. In the study, scientists found that mice infected with clustered viruses became more ill compared to those that were infected with a single virus. The researchers noted as there are currently no vaccine to treat the vesicles, treatments to target the clusters, instead of individual virus particles, would need to be developed. RUNDOWN SHOWS: 1. Showing the two stomach viruses Norovirus and rotavirus. 2. We show the virus clustering together and being covered by a protective membrane. 3. We see the virus multiplying inside the protective membrane. 4. We see the clustered virus entering the body's intestine and attacking a single cell with multiple viruses. What is MICROWAVE ABLATION? What does MICROWAVE ABLATION mean? MICROWAVE ABLATION meaning - MICROWAVE ABLATION definition - MICROWAVE ABLATION explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Microwave Ablation (MWA) is a form of thermal ablation used in interventional radiology to treat cancer. MWA uses electromagnetic waves in the microwave energy spectrum (300 MHz to 300 GHz) to produce tissue-heating effects. The oscillation of polar molecules produces frictional heating, ultimately generating tissue necrosis within solid tumors. It is generally used for the treatment and/or palliation of solid tumors in patients who are nonsurgical candidate. The technique for thermal ablation in the lung by using radiofrequency ablation was first described in 1995 for use in animal lung tumor models and then in 2000 in humans. Microwave ablation has emerged as a newer ablation modality and an addition to the arsenal of minimally invasive cancer care. The purported benefits of microwave ablation over other heat-based modalities such as radiofrequency ablation and laser include a larger and faster volume of tissue heating with a given application. Unlike radiofrequency ablation, MWA does not rely on an electrical circuit allowing for multiple applicators to be used simultaneously. For isolated, nonmetastatic lung tumors, surgical resection remains the reference standard for treatment. However, many patients are precluded from surgery due to poor cardiopulmonary function, advanced age, or extensive disease burden. For these patients, minimally invasive therapeutic options such as radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, and cryoablation have emerged as possible alternatives. Tumor ablation of thoracic malignancies should be considered a viable treatment option for patients with early stage, primary or secondary lung cancers who are not surgical candidates or for patients in whom palliation of tumor related symptoms is the intent. MWA is regarded as a particularly efficient option for the treatment of lung tumors since unlike RFA it does not rely on impedance to generate heat, rather electromagnetic microwave waves heat matter by agitating water molecules in the surrounding tissue, producing friction and heat. Another common use for microwave ablation is the treatment of liver tumors. For nonsurgical patients, local thermal ablation techniques have enabled local control of tumors without resection. In particular, this therapy has grown in use for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, since many patients present with advanced disease or compromised liver function. Clinical applications of MWA have also included treatment of renal, adrenal, and bone malignancies. MWA allows for flexible treatment approaches, including percutaneous, laparoscopic, and open surgical access. Therapy is generally performed with the patient under conscious sedation; however, in cases where intra-procedural pain is problematic a general anesthetic may be used. Ablations can be performed using a single MW antenna or a cluster of three to achieve a greater ablation volume. Tumor temperatures during ablation can be measured with a separate thermal couple; tumors are treated to over 60°C to achieve coagulation necrosis. Currently, there are six MWA systems commercially available in the United States. The systems use either a 915 MHz generator (Evident, Covidien, Mansfield, MA; MicrothermX, BSD Medical, Salt Lake City, UT; Avecure, Medwaves, San Diego, CA) or a 2450 MHz generator (Certus 140, Neuwave, Madison, WI; Amica, Hospital Service, Rome, Italy; Acculis MTA, AngioDynamics, Latham, NY). The MW antennas used are straight applicators with active tips ranging in lengths from 0.6 to 4.0 cm. Five of the six available systems require that the antennas are internally cooled with either room-temperature fluid or carbon dioxide to reduce conductive heating and to prevent possible skin damage. ....

Why Would An Attorney Call a Press Conference? NY Medical Malpractice Attorney Oginski Explains
Why Would An Attorney Call a Press Conference? NY Medical Malpractice Attorney Gerry Oginski Explains http://www.oginski-law.com/blog/the-check-came-in-a-cardiac-nightmare-in-new-york.cfm NY Medical Malpractice & Personal Injury Trial Lawyer 516-487-8207 Email: Gerry@Oginski-Law.com There are really only two key reasons an attorney would call a press conference: 1. To draw attention to your problem and what happened to you, and 2. To draw attention to himself. An attorney who calls a press conference to highlight the problems you have experienced is doing so to tell the world about your tragedy. He wants to generate a groundswell of public opinion for you and against the doctor or hospital who caused you harm. This strategy can be effective in some cases when it applies public opinion pressure on the people who have caused you harm. It can, in some instances, help to pressure the people you have sued into negotiating a settlement earlier rather than later. The second reason an attorney would call a press conference is to highlight a great result the lawyer has achieved either by verdict or settlement. This is basically done to promote himself and his law firm. It gives people an opportunity to realize that if they have a similar problem, this lawyer may be the right one for them to help solve their legal problem. Watch the video to learn more... Dr. Michele LeRoux (MIT): Pseudomonas aeruginosa survives with a gut reaction using their T6SS
https://www.ibiology.org/microbiology/pseudomonas-aeruginosa/ When we think about bacteria, we don’t really think about the sufferings and struggles they go through when they fight to keep their homes. Dr. Michele LeRoux explains how bacteria interact with one another as they compete for environmental resources. She focuses on the Type Six Secretion System (T6SS), a protein complex in the membrane of some strains of bacteria that is used to fight and outcompete other bacteria. Studying this system in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, she discovered that when these bacteria encounter other bacteria with T6SS, they are able to increase the amount of activated T6SS in their membranes. She noticed that Pseudomonas Aeruginosa could sense the death of sibling bacteria, which would activate their defense system. This novel immune response mechanism in bacteria provides insight on the bacterial responses to harmful cues. Speaker Biography: Dr. Michelle LeRoux completed her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology at Colgate University, NY. She joined the Molecular and Cellular Biology doctorate program at University of Washington, where she worked with Dr. Joseph Mougous and studied bacterial social behavior and interspecies warfare. She joined Dr. Michael Laub’s lab at MIT as a postdoctoral associate and continues studying the molecular mechanisms of bacterial life.
