In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. Is it good to take your vitamins at night? It is good to take vitamins in general if you aren't getting enough nutrition from your diet. I heard that you should take them at night for better absorption. Yes, they'll sit in your stomach all night and digest. But the same is true during the day unless you pop a pill right before a marathon. Is there a bad time to take vitamins? For actual vitamins, there is no bad time. Don't take them without water, since the fluids help you break down and absorb the vitamins. I was told to take weight loss supplements in the morning, while others are best at night. Most weight loss supplements are just appetite suppressants or stimulants. If you take it at night, you won't sleep. Let's say it is a vitamin B pill. When should I take that? Whenever it doesn't make you look like you're popping too many pills. Though if you are taking appetite suppressants, taking vitamins at that time reduces the risk of malnutrition. I eat sensibly. Most people popping weight loss supplements are going to drink shakes or eat a frozen dinner at night, not nine servings of vegetables to get all the micronutrients they need. I heard that you don't want to take them all at once. True, because then your body has trouble absorbing them all. And you should check with your doctor on timing since some supplements could interfere with medication you are taking. I heard you shouldn't take vitamins in the morning due to poor absorption. That's only if you take them on an empty stomach, since your body will push it on through. Take vitamins with a small snack so your body stops to digest it. Someone said you have to take vitamin B or C with dinner. Those are water soluble vitamins. If you take it without any water or food, it is flushed out of your system. And it adds to the pile in the bottom of the porta-potty. Or it feeds the plants at the water treatment center.

If you have advanced adrenal fatigue most patients do better on adrenal glandulars. For more mild disease consider using adrenal adaptogens. If your cortisol is elevated consider using phosphatidylserine. 3. Zinc - Low levels of zinc can cause issues with your skin and issue with hair growth. Adding zinc boosts immune function, T4 to T3 conversion and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Make sure to supplement with zinc bound to picolinic acid. 4. Iron - This is what I consider a "Goldilocks" nutrient in that you don't want TOO much or TOO little. Unfortunately, most doctors look for iron deficiency anemia and don't necessarily jus treat iron deficiency unless anemia accompanies it. Use these optimal levels to supplement with iron. 5. Magnesium - Hypothyroidism alters magnesium and low levels of magnesium can lead to issues like depression, anxiety and other changes like muscle cramps or restless leg syndrome. Replace low levels with magnesium glycinate, magnesium citrate if you have constipation or magnsium threonate if you have neurological issues. 6. Selenium - This nutrient is involved in the thyroid conversion process. Not only that but supplementing has been shown to reduce TPO antibodies and boost the immune system. In addition, using iodine with selenium can help reduce negative side effects. 7. Probiotics - Up to 20% of thyroid conversion happens in the gut and inflammation can reduce this number. My answer is that it really depends on you. I will show you the pros and cons of rice and go over what I believe is the healthiest rice today. There is a debate today about if you should consume rice or not: ⁃ The paleo diet community says to stay grain-free and therefore that rice is not healthy ⁃ Chinese medicine followers and vegans think rice can be an incredible superfood I believe there is validity to both but it depends on the person and the preparation of the rice. Rice to stay away from: Refined White Rice (This is not jasmine or basmati rice but the sticky white rice from fast food or Chinese restaurants.) Rice Cons: • Fiber, minerals and vitamins have been removed. • Study shows that people are twice as likely to develop diabetes as opposed to those eating whole grain brown rice. • Contains phytic acid (enzyme inhibitor) which keeps you from absorbing and digesting vitamins and minerals. • Contains proteins that are difficult to digest Rice Pros: • Whole grain brown rice is high in B3 which is good for heart health. • Whole grain brown rice is high in selenium which supports the thyroid and kidneys. • Certain types of rice contain GABA, a neurotransmitter that can support the brain and help reduce anxiety as well as support metabolism. So ... is rice healthy? Is brown rice healthy? It depends on how it is prepared. I believe if rice is soaked and sprouted, it unlocks the vitamins and minerals versus most rices that aren’t sprouted. I personally consume an organic rice from the company, True Roots. It is a germinated brown rice (soaked and sprouted) which kills off phytic acid and is easier to digest. In Chinese medicine, look up “qi” or “chi.” They believe that short grain brown rice increase your body’s “qi” which is your body’s life source and energy. It is considered to be one of the #1 healing foods. I suggest my patients make a “congee” with chicken bone broth, brown rice and vegetables such as carrots and celery. This chicken vegetable rice soup is healing and nourishing to the body. In conclusion, is rice healthy? Yes, it can be if you are doing sprouted rice that is traditionally prepared. Eric Bakker, naturopath from New Zealand, author of Candida Crusher and formulator of the Canxida range of supplements. I've got a question here from a man called Ed Forman. Ed Forman is in Atlanta, Georgia. And Ed is asking a question, "Eric, are B vitamins good for Candida?" Ed, B vitamins are very good for Candida. Let's talk a little bit about B vitamins in general and their importance on health. There are, I think, seven different types of B vitamins. B vitamins are critical for health because they perform an incredible amount of functions in the body. We haven't really got time in this video to explain all of the effects on the different individual B vitamins, but they all have very specific effects and combined effects on the human health. B vitamins are produced a lot. They can be produced by your healthy gut bacteria. Healthy gut bacteria produce folate and B vitamins in abundance. And this is one of the reasons why many people who've got very poor gut function are very tired. Because one of the primary roles for a lot of the B vitamins is to help turn carbohydrates into energy or to produce energy. When I look at my chart above my computer, I've got a liver detoxification supportive pathway here. Both of the phases of the liver detoxification, particularly the first phase that's activated by enzymes, is very dependent on B2, B3, B6, B12, and folate. All of these I just mentioned here can be produced by gut bacteria. So if you've got beneficial bacteria there in abundance, you'll have plenty of B vitamins. You'll have good liver detoxification pathways. Another very important aspect of B vitamins is energy production. Because a lot of the Bs are involved in reactions called NADP and NADPH. These are specific energy pathways in the three different systems that are available to the body to make energy. So you can't make energy if you haven't got enough B vitamins. You're going to be increasingly tired. I've got another pathway above my computer here called the steroid/hormone pathway. Now, most hormones, in fact, require B6. So B6 or pyridoxine is a very important vitamin to make sure that hormones work properly. In fact, the body can't function well at all with a very low B count. You can ingest B vitamins through your diet. There are many different kinds of foods that contain B vitamins, but more importantly with healthy gut bacteria, you will have ample B vitamins. There was some research that was done at the Monash University in Australia by a bunch of researchers showing that B vitamins, in fact, can switch on many different aspects of immune function and dampen down other aspects. B vitamins work almost like the steroid hormone, cortisol, that the adrenals make. B vitamins have been shown to actually regulate immune function. And, again, this is another reason why people with poor gut function and bad Candida are going to have a lot of problems with their immune system. It's really a Catch 22. If you've got Candida and you've got poor levels of beneficial bacteria, you can't produce enough B vitamins. And, therefore, you won't have a good immune function to counter the Candida. There is certainly a link there. To build up sufficient levels of stomach acid, you need to have B vitamins and zinc. Zinc in particular. And many people with Candida have got poor gut function. They've got poor hydrochloric acid levels in their stomach, so they're really handicapped right from the start. And when you've got poor HCL levels, you're not going to be able to break protein down properly, so you're not going to get amino acids. You're not going to get good hormone levels in the body. You're not going to be able to absorb magnesium, calcium, zinc, many other different trace elements in vitamins and minerals. It's very important to get that gut function working properly. My main focus when I consult with patients and I've got patients now in about 70 countries around the world on Skype and on Face Time. But the main thing I try to do with them upfront is to improve their gut function. Because if I can do that, I can turn their health right around. And also, a powerful gut function is a good ally in terms of getting rid of a yeast infection. So just to answer your question there, Ed, B vitamins are very good for Candida. And there are different kinds of B vitamin supplements that you can take, but you need to take them in a balanced amount and you need to get B vitamins from the right kind of source. You've got to be careful that you're not getting synthetic crap.
