Rapper Lil Wayne leaves an Omaha hospital, plans to perform this weekend
(15 Jun 2016) LIL WAYNE PERFORMS AT E3 AFTER SUFFERING SEIZURES Lil Wayne performed for attendees of the Electronic Entertainment Expo a day after suffering what his spokesman described as two minor seizures. The rapper and Samsung pitchman performed Wednesday afternoon at the company's booth inside the Los Angeles Convention Center. Lil Wayne delivered such songs as "John" and "No Ceiling" as six skateboarders performed tricks behind him on a half-pipe stage. The 33-year-old New Orleans native was hospitalized after his private jet was forced by a medical emergency to land Monday at Omaha's Eppley Airfield. He was later described in stable condition. Lil Wayne was originally scheduled to appear at the video game trade show on Tuesday. The rapper showed no signs of fatigue at E3. After the performance, he weaved past the crowd and appeared on a live stream at Twitch's booth. ASPR/NSRI State Department Drill
Nebraska Medicine/UNMC and NSRI Playing Major Role In Highly Infectious Patient Transport Training Exercise U.S. State Dept. Training Exercise of mock-patients with highly infectious disease involves 5 aircraft and 11 mock patients The Nebraska Biocontainment Unit was one of five treatment centers that received patients during a practice drill organized by the U.S. State Department that officially began Monday morning. During “Operation Tranquil Shift,” a total of 11 American citizens suspected of having or having been exposed to a simulated highly infectious disease were transported from Africa to the United States for treatment. Three mock-patients arrived from Africa at Eppley Airfield Wed., April 12, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Two patients arrived separately in one of two Gulfstream jets operated by Phoenix Air for the U.S. State Department. A third patient didn’t make the trip from Africa, but was also transported to the Biocontainment Unit. A total of four aircraft (the two Gulfstreams which came to Omaha and two 747s) departed Atlanta, GA, and traveled to Freetown, Sierra Leone. Once patients were retrieved, all aircraft landed at the Washington-Dulles Airport to clear customs before continuing on to one of five receiving facilities across the country, including Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan, Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Once patients were transferred to ground ambulance teams, the aircraft departed for the next receiving facility or returned to Georgia for decontamination. The scope of this exercise is unprecedented, and a testament to the lessons learned and changes made in the aftermath of the Ebola outbreak. “This was the next logical step in planning and preparing to transport a large number of patients with a highly infectious disease,” said Shelly Schwedhelm, MSN, RN, executive director of emergency preparedness and infection prevention at Nebraska Medicine. “In November of 2016, we successfully transported three patients to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit on one 747. We’re applying what we learned during the November drill to make even further improvements during this larger national exercise.” The University of Nebraska National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) works closely with the U.S. State Department to facilitate these transport exercises. "NSRI has assisted the State Department to develop the scenarios and develop a process for improving the transport and patient care process during transit." said Eric Van Gieson, Chief Technology Officer for NSRI. Two members of the NSRI team were observers onboard the aircraft coming to Omaha and spoke to the media at Eppley Airfield. The NSRI is one of 13 DoD authorized University Affiliated Research Centers in the nation. Established in 2012, NSRI is a long-term, strategic partner of its Department of Defense (DoD) sponsor, the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). Along with the agencies previously mentioned, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Douglas County 911, Douglas County Emergency Management, Omaha Fire Department, Omaha Airport Authority, Douglas County Health Department and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services all took part in the drill.

NBC News Freelancer 'Enormously Relieved' To Be In U.S.
According to his parents at news conference on Monday, the freelance NBC News cameraman who was diagnosed in Liberia with the Ebola virus is scared but “enormously relieved” to have arrived at a Nebraska hospital for treatment. Ashoka Mukpo, the sixth American to be infected with the virus that has killed more than 3,500 people in west Africa, walked onto and off the jet that took him from Liberia to Omaha, where he was whisked to Nebraska Medical Center by ambulance Monday morning. Doctors at the Nebraska Medical Center, which successfully treated American doctor Rick Sacra for Ebola, said they have not decided on a treatment plan. http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/663303/s/3f2bcdac/sc/6/l/0L0Snbcnews0N0Cstoryline0Cebola0Evirus0Eoutbreak0Cnbc0Efreelancer0Eashoka0Emukpo0Eenormously0Erelieved0Ebe0Enebraska0En219426/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com

In boost to anti-submarine warfare, US-made P-3C Orion surveillance planes become operatio...
After its delivery to Taiwan over three years ago, the nation''s fleet of U.S.-made P-3C Orion maritime surveillance planes is finally ready for combat. President Tsai presided over their inauguration ceremony today, expressing hope that their advanced systems would boost Taiwan''s anti-submarine defenses. Meanwhile, the aging S-2T submarine trackers have been officially retired, taking to the skies today for the last time. P-3C submarine-hunting aircraft today joined early-warning aircraft and C130 military planes to fly in formation. The P-3C planes were unveiled at a ceremony to mark the start of their operations. Tsai Ing-wenPresidentToday marks a glorious and moving moment. Each one of you is part of our most elite surveillance unit. You are our military’s sharpest eyes. We rely most on your high level of readiness and strong combat powers in air force anti-submarine warfare. The P-3C anti-submarine aircraft are fitted with guided missiles and torpedoes that can sink submarines, replacing the old S-2T planes that could only track submarines and not engage in combat. Now they will never be used into anti-submarine warfare again. Today they made their last flight in a formal decommissioning ceremony. Chiang Ting-huiS2T Flight InstructorWhat’s more, I miss the 31 anti-submarine martyrs who sacrificed their lives aboard these S-2T aircraft. Chen Kuo-hsunAnti-Submarine Warfare Brigade I’ve been flying S-2T planes for over 10 years. In fact, today I saw one of my planes fly into history. That was really moving. If any places ever hold an exhibition, then we’ll probably go. If there are no such plans, then these planes should be left at the Pingtung Airbase and serve as a memorial. The S2T planes landed safety in accordance with their flight plans. Columns of water then washed away the dust and then they settled into retirement.

Man Drives Truck Into Plane at Nebraska Airport
According to authorities, a man wearing only underwear stole a pickup truck and then drove it into a Southwest Airlines plane at a Omaha, Nebraska airport, causing minor injuries to three people on board the aircraft. Police added in a statement that the man is in custody. His name however, has not yet been released. Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz told CBS News Friday morning that 20 passengers were on the plane when the truck hit it. The impact from the truck ended up flattening the plane’s nose gear tires, causing the airline to get another aircraft to fly the passengers to the city of Denver, three hours later than originally scheduled. ►Circle us on Google + http://goo.gl/TXeBfX ►Subscribe Channel http://goo.gl/mqt0wI ►Don't forget to Like * Comment * Share this video. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stay tuned, Stay connected

Storm blankets Midwest in snow, creeps toward Northeast
YOUR DESCRIPTION HAS REACHED THE LIMIT OF CHARACTERS ALLOWED AND WAS CUT. MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- A slow-moving winter storm blanketed a large swath of the Plains and Midwest in snow Sunday, forcing the cancellation of more than 1,500 flights, making roads treacherous and forcing some people to rethink their plans to attend Super Bowl parties. Blizzard conditions developed in Chicago ‚€ where more than a foot was expected by evening ‚€ and other Midwest locales as the system slowly crept eastward into Pennsylvania and western New York state. Parts of New England still digging out from a storm early last week were bracing for yet another round of snow to arrive Sunday and last through Monday. Here's the outlook: ___ THE STORM The snowstorm was expected to be the most far-reaching of the season to date, stretching from Nebraska to Maine, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters also said the storm was moving unusually slowly, meaning accumulations of between 10 to 14 inches of snow are possible for parts of northern Illinois, Indiana and northwest Ohio. Similar amounts of snow are expected for the Northeast later Sunday and throughout Monday. "It's not wise to travel, unless you have an emergency," said David Beachler a National Weather Service meteorologist in Chicago. Craig Owens, an English professor at Drake University, was one of the many Midwest residents who spent the morning shoveling their driveways. "I'm not going to make it the gym anyway, so I've got to get a workout somehow," said Owens, whose home in Des Moines, Iowa, got about 10 inches of snow. ___ TRAVEL AND OUTAGES More than 1,500 flights were canceled in the Midwest, the vast majority of which were flights in or out of Chicago's two airports. Chicago's Department of Aviation said about 1,100 departing flights were canceled from O'Hare International Airport and 200 at Midway International Airport. At Detroit Metropolitan Airport, nearly 200 departing flights were canceled, and more delayed. About 20 flights were canceled from Omaha's Eppley Airfield. The winds ‚€ gusts up to 45 mph were expected in the Chicago area ‚€ made road travel tricky too. The Illinois Department of Transportation dispatched 350 trucks to clear and salt Chicago-area roadways through the evening and ahead of Monday's morning rush hour. In eastern Nebraska, several sections of Interstate 80 were closed Sunday due to traffic accidents in the icy conditions. The weather led to power outages Sunday, including roughly 18,000 ComEd customers in the Chicago metro area. The weather cut power to nearly 8,000 northern Indiana homes and businesses. ___ SUPER BOWL PARTY SPOILER? The most intense period of snow in the Midwest was expected to hit Sunday evening, right around game time, meaning the roads could be treacherous for those heading to Super Bowl parties. Potential wind gusts of up to 40 mph were expected, so drivers could face terrible visibility and snarling snow drifts. Several of the Chicago area's top tourist attractions closed early Sunday because of the weather, including the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and Brookfield Zoo. The city's pizzerias, though, were expecting heavy demand for deliveries during the game. And bars hosting Super Bowl parties said they wouldn't let the weather spoil their plans. Kathi Kreger, manager at Brendan's Pub, a Patriots' bar on the city's North Side, said locals would still trudge through the snow for the festivities. "We're used to this," she said. In the southeastern Wisconsin city of New Berlin, meanwhile, sports bar Matty's Bar

Omaha is located in the Midwestern United States on the Missouri River, about 10 miles (15 km) north of the mouth of the Platte River. Omaha is the anchor of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area, which includes Council Bluffs, Iowa, across the Missouri River from Omaha. According to the 2010 census, Omaha's population was 408,958, having increased to 466,893 as of the 2017 estimate. This makes Omaha the nation's 40th-largest city. Including its suburbs, Omaha formed the 60th-largest metropolitan area in the United States in 2013, with an estimated population of 895,151 residing in eight counties. The Omaha-Council Bluffs-Fremont, Nebraska-IA Combined Statistical Area is 931,667, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2013 estimate. Nearly 1.3 million people reside within the Greater Omaha area, comprising a 50 miles (80 kilometers) radius of Downtown Omaha, the city's center. Omaha's pioneer period began in 1854, when the city was founded by speculators from neighboring Council Bluffs, Iowa. The city was founded along the Missouri River, and a crossing called Lone Tree Ferry earned the city its nickname, the "Gateway to the West". Omaha introduced this new West to the world in 1898, when it played host to the World's Fair, dubbed the Trans-Mississippi Exposition. During the 19th century, Omaha's central location in the United States spurred the city to become an important national transportation hub. Throughout the rest of the 19th century, the transportation and jobbing sectors were important in the city, along with its railroads and breweries. In the 20th century, the Omaha Stockyards, once the world's largest, and its meatpacking plants gained international prominence. Today, Omaha is the home to the headquarters of four Fortune 500 companies: mega-conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway; one of the world's largest construction companies, Kiewit Corporation; insurance and financial firm Mutual of Omaha; and the United States' largest railroad operator, Union Pacific Corporation. Berkshire Hathaway is headed by local investor Warren Buffett, one of the richest people in the world, according to a decade's worth of Forbes Magazine rankings, some of which have ranked him as high as No. 1. Omaha is also the home to five Fortune 1000 headquarters: Green Plains Renewable Energy, TD Ameritrade, Valmont Industries, Werner Enterprises, and West Corporation. Also headquartered in Omaha are First National Bank of Omaha, the largest privately held bank in the United States; three of the nation's largest 10 architecture/engineering firms: DLR Group, HDR, Inc., and Leo A Daly; the Gallup Organization, of Gallup Poll fame; and its riverfront Gallup University. Enron began in Omaha as Northern Natural Gas in 1930, before taking over a smaller Houston company in 1985 to form InterNorth, which Kenneth Lay moved permanently to Houston, in 1987. First Data, another Fortune 500 company, was founded in Omaha in 1971 and headquartered there until the late 90's. ConAgra Brand ...
