A660 Joint Council Trolleybus Deputation 8.7.15
A deputation from the A660 Joint Council informs councillors at a full meeting of Leeds City Council, that there are ten major errors in the council's Draft Site Allocations Plan relating to open space calculations, which mean that Hyde Park and Woodhouse ward has a deficit in open space and not a surplus as claimed by the Draft Site Allocations Plan, and therefore no part of Woodhouse Moor can be spared for the trolleybus route. Taichung’s controversial bus rapid transit company to be dissolved
Taichung’s controversial bus rapid transit (BRT) company, founded nearly two years ago, has been losing over NT$300 million per month. The Taichung City Government has now decided the company is no longer needed and will dissolve it. Current employees will receive assistance from the government in finding new employment along with severance pay. After the dissolution of BRT, the government will establish a Taichung Mass Rapid Transit company and will begin recruiting at the end of the year. When the BRT articulated buses were first on the road, everyone wanted to experience riding them. Now the company is running huge losses. There are fears that by the end of the year this could reach as much as NT$1 billion. Therefore the Taichung City Government has decided to dissolve the company. Lin Chia-lungTaichung City Mayor We will accelerate the liquidation process in the hopes that this will be of assistance in setting up a new Taichung MRT company. After BRT is dissolved, employees will be paid severance pay as well as receive counseling to help find new employment. Taichung has 32 articulated buses and is considering renting them out. Wang Yi-chuanTaichung Transportation Bureau We are drafting a plan to rent out 32 articulated buses to ordinary private bus companies. After private bus companies rent them, they can still be used for transportation. After this, the Taichung City Government will create a Taichung MRT company and recruit 500 staff at the end of the year to make preparations for a new Taichung MRT.
