Will taking other medications cause my birth control to not work?
If you are taking birth control pills and your doctor has prescribed other medication, whether it be a permanent medication or a temporary medication, it's always best to check with them and find out if it's going to affect how well your birth control works. Many studies have been done on this topic, and basically what we know is that there are certain anticonvulsants that can make birth control pills be less-effective, and an antibiotic called Rifampin can also affect it. Many women who are on antibiotics while taking birth control pills are afraid it's going to increase the chances of them getting pregnant. And if you're concerned, even though the studies have shown that that medication doesn't affect it, it never hurts to use a backup form of contraception, like a condom. It's also good to think of things like herbal supplements that you might be taking. For example, St. John's Wart may actually make birth control pills work less effectively. So again, it's always best to talk with you doctor if you have any questions about it. The best time to do it is when you're prescribed the medication. Just bring up the fact that you're taking birth control pills, and they'll be able to help you decide if you should use backup contraception while on it or not. Top 5 Oral Antibiotics for Acne Treatment. Are they safe and effective ?
http://www.cysticacnehelp.com/antibiotics-for-acne/ Antibiotics are the most commonly used method for treating acne. There are different antibiotics used to treat acne. They all work in more or less the same way. Acne antibiotics can either be used orally or applied on the skin. Although they can help reduce and clear acne breakouts, these antibiotics have their associated side effect. Oral antibiotics for acne There are different types of oral antibiotics prescribed for the treatment of acne. The most common of these include the following. Tetracycline is one of the commonly prescribed acne treatments. For effectiveness, the patient has to take the medication on an empty stomach. Taking the medication with meals reduces its effectiveness. It has a derivative, minocycline which is commonly prescribed for treatment of pustular acne. Doxycycline is an acne treatment antibiotic commonly prescribed for patients whose acne conditions don't respond to treatment with tetracycline or minocycline. It should be taken with food. Two other antibiotics for acne: Erythromycin and Clindamycin Possible side effects of oral antibiotics for acne Nausea and vomiting Candida vaginal yeast infection in women Interaction with birth control pills lessening their effectiveness Increased skin sensitivity to the sun Allergic reactions to the medication Many acne sufferers have found the antibiotics to be quite effective in combating acne breakouts. However, effectiveness comes down to the type of antibiotics for acne used and the individual's condition. A study showed that the acne causing bacteria is becoming resistant to some of the antibiotics making them less effective for treatment. Finding the most effective antibiotics for acne to treat your breakouts can be a costly affair. The problem is that not all antibiotics available guarantee great results. Acne - Oral Antibiotics in Acne Treatment
In a new world of antibiotic resistance, are acne treatments using antibiotics safe? Dermatologist Dr. Richard Thomas gives us an insightful response which may surprise you. Why are antibiotics used to treat acne? Antibiotics are not used for its primary function when used to treat acne as acne is not an infection; you can't pass on acne from one person to another. Antibiotics do suppress P. Acnes, a bacteria that is often associated with acne and proliferate around the areas that are affected. Its main function, however is in its anti-inflammatory effect. It's important to know that they act slowly. Unlike treating an infection like a strep throat, the effects are extremely slow. In acne, the expectation might be something like a 50% improvement over 12 weeks. The general philosophy for prescribing antibiotics for treating acne has changed over the decades. There is a greater awareness of antibiotic resistance. Generally antibiotics are used for shorter periods, and there is a greater use of topicals rather than antibiotics for long-term maintenance. Benzoyl peroxide or other topicals can be used in conjunction with antibiotics to treat acne. It's a matter of weighing out the benefits and drawbacks when using antibiotics to treat acne. Is it beneficial? Yes, but it's not ideal. Dr. Richard Thomas is a dermatologist that currently practices at Sidra Research and Medical Centre in Doha, Qatar. http://www.sidra.org/ What kind of content would you like to see? Understanding your medication and how it may affect you is crucial to your safety. Here are some questions you should ask your pharmacist. What is the name of the drug and how is it spelled? What are the meanings of abbreviations and where can you find more information about it? Also ask if there are any generic alternatives. You should know what the medication is supposed to do and how long it will take to achieve that result. Make sure you know how to take the medication and how many times a day you need to take it, and if a certain time of day is preferred over another. Ask if you have any other options: what will happen if you took a wrong type of medication and wrong dosage. Ask if you should avoid alcohol, herbs, food, other medications, or activities that will alter the efficacy of a medication. Always be aware of the common side effects, and if there's a way to reduce the chances of them developing. Also be sure to know what side effects you should contact the pharmacist or doctor about if they occur. Other questions you should ask are: Can I take this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding? What are the risks associated with the medication? What are the symptoms of an allergic reaction? Are there any symptoms that require emergency medical help? When should the dosage be changed or the medication be stopped? Those are some questions that you can ask a Generika Pharmacist. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), also termed bacterial overgrowth, or Small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome (SBBOS), is a disorder of excessive bacterial growth in the small intestine. Unlike the colon (or large bowel), which is rich with bacteria, the small bowel usually has fewer than 104 organisms per millilitre. Patients with bacterial overgrowth typically develop symptoms including nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, malnutrition, weight loss and malabsorption which is caused by a number of mechanisms. The diagnosis of bacterial overgrowth is made by a number of techniques, with the gold standard diagnosis being an aspirate from the jejunum that grows in excess of 105 bacteria per millilitre. Risk factors for the development of bacterial overgrowth include dysmotility, anatomical disturbances in the bowel, including fistulae, diverticula and blind loops created after surgery, and resection of the ileo-cecal valve, gastroenteritis induced alterations to the small intestine as well as the use of certain medications, including proton pump inhibitors. Small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome is treated with an elemental diet or else antibiotics, which may be given in a cyclic fashion to prevent tolerance to the antibiotics sometimes followed by prokinetic drugs to prevent recurrence if dysmotility is a suspected cause. Ep 25. Top 200 Drugs in 2 Hours Part 7 of 7 Endocrine Pharmacology
This one-day, two hour seven lecture series provides a basic understanding of how to recognize common drug names, understand the basic classifications, and quickly memorize them for exams. The print, e-book, and audiobooks these lectures are based on, Memorizing Pharmacology: A Relaxed Approach, can be found here https://www.amazon.com/Memorizing-Pharmacology-A-Relaxed-Approach/dp/B01FSR7XZO/ Full Transcript: So let's start with chapter 7 endocrine this is our last chapter and we're going to start with three OTC medications. Most people don't know that insulins are over-the-counter because they aren't literally over-the-counter they're in the refrigerator in the pharmacy but they don't require a prescription or two of them don't. Regular insulin which is humulin R and NPH insulin which is humulin N and alphabetically you say that well why didn't you put the N first why did you put the R first? traditionally insulins when we talk about them and list them, we list them in the order of the speed that they work so I'll mention these in the insulin column but regular insulin works for less time of an NPH insulin so that's how we would put it regular than NPH. Emergency contraception so the stem here is the -gest- that lets you know it's a progestin so levonorgestrel is Plan B one step why is it called one step? Well it used to be two steps, used to be two pills and the plan B comes from, well plan A might have been a condom or something like that that broke and Plan B was to take this pill for emergency contraception it used to be by prescription then it went behind the counter then recently it's gone over-the-counter and available readily. So let's go with the prescription medications now so we'll start with the oral anti-diabetics and to remind us that diabetes is an issue of a blood glucose that's elevated so what we're trying to do is reduce that blood glucose the order that I put them in is by alphabetically by their class so that if you have other medications you want to put in you can just put in more biguanides or more DPP-4 inhibitors but the B proceeds the D proceeds the sulfonylurea. So metformin has the -fromin stem, f-o-r-m-i-n but you'll usually see some kind of g-l- in these generic names and metformin is the exception. So the manufacturer made Glucophage, the gl- is in the gluco for glucose and then phage to phage something is to eat it so if you've heard of cell eating as phagocytosis, cell drinking is pinocytosis so that's kind of where that comes from. The DPP-4 inhibitor sitagliptin some people just call them 'gliptins' because it's just hard to say DPP-4 and that's Januvia. So the second generation sulfonylureas, glipizide and we have the gli- prefix its brand name Glucotrol so you can see glucose control is what I think they were going for with a brand name and then glyburide the gly- prefix and Diabeta is the brand name so you can see most of the word diabetes is in there or you can think of the beta cells and insulin secretion and what they do there and the islets of Langerhans so those are if you have a patient that has too much blood sugar, however sometimes we have a condition of hypoglycemia and you would use glucagon when the glucose is gone is the best way I think to think of that and that brand name is Glucagen so we are generating glucose where there isn't any. So let's go on to the insulins and another situation where we have too much or too little of a hormone. So I've put the insulins here in order of how long they work so insulin lispro works very quickly should be taken with a meal and because it works so quickly it's by prescription and the brand name is Humalog which is a combination of human insulin and analog insulin. The regular insulin and NPH I already talked about but this is where they would be placed if you were to put the four insulins together in terms of how long they work so insulin lispro, regular insulin, NPH insulin then insulin glargine I've heard lazy Lantus to remind you that it's very slow acting it works all day and then Toujeo is a newer brand name but those four insulins in that order just as diabetes was an issue with high glucose and sometimes we get hypoglycemic, hypothyroidism is simply adding thyroid if you want to treat that so levothyroxine is the actual hormone and the brand name comes from Synthroid which is synthetic thyroid is how they came up with that brand I believe and then hyperthyroidism when we have too much thyroid hormone we would use something like propylthiouracil which is uses the P, the T, and the U from propylthiouracil to make PTU. Hormone replacement, so testosterone the -ster- is the stem indicating it's a steroid and then Andro- meaning man and then gel because testosterone is generally regarded as a male hormone. So from there let's go on to some birth control and issues with the bladder. So beginning with the combined oral contraceptives or the pill as most people would call it. The estr- is an estrogen and...

Ear Pain - Get instant relief much quicker than pills, antibiotics, this salt thing is a miracle.
EAR PAIN - Home remedy acts much quicker than pills & antibiotics - this salt thing is a miracle. - (गोलियों, एंटीबायोटिक दवाओं से बहुत तेज कान दर्द से तत्काल राहत प्राप्त करें) Last night my girl child was crying with ear pain. After observing her for half an hour I decided to take her to a hospital but again decided to test this home remedy on her as told by my grandmother. I found this as a home remedy last night which worked for my child. Cook 4 to 5 spoons of salt until brown, put in cloth and hold to ear (blocking out air with salt in towel over ear opening). Careful! Salt is very hot! Put it to the ear opening for a minute. Repeat this 10 to 15 times. My child went back to sleep and pain free for the whole night & she went to school the next day without complaining about her ear. This salt thing is a miracle! Nothing in the ear means no harm and nothing but relief. Try it! Test yourself if you have any ear pain. Much quicker than pills. BUT REMEMBER IF IT DOESN'T WORK CONSULT A DOCTOR BECAUSE FOREIGN BODY MAY ENTER THE EAR WHICH WILL NEED URGENT MEDICAL TREATMENT. If ear pain does not decrease using this technique then take around 3-4 nos. of fresh garlic & heat it slightly & take the garlic juice out by crushing the warm garlic & pour 2 drops of warm (not too hot) garlic juice into the ear suffering from pain to get instant relief from ear pain. For ear pain suffering from fungus apply onion juice into the ear to get relieve instantly.
