05:34
Find out what do your total cholesterol numbers mean. Discover why Dr. Sam Robbins, recommends CholesLo ™ as the solution for lowering your cholesterol with less effort and time. 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/CholesterolLevels-CholesLo ********************* What Is A Normal Cholesterol Level? *************************** Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is naturally present in cell walls or membranes everywhere in the body. Your body uses cholesterol to produce many hormones, as well as one of the most important vitamins in the body – Vitamin D. High cholesterol in your bloodstream can lead to narrowing of the arteries, which can cause a heart attack or stroke. Your goal is to have “healthy” cholesterol levels – not too high or too low. Your goal should be to keep cholesterol level below 140 mg/dL. What do your total cholesterol numbers mean? Your total blood cholesterol is measure of LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and other lipid components. It is a combination of numerous numbers and this is why most people just focus on this number for simplicity reasons. Improving your cholesterol levels is very important but it is just one factor out of many, when it comes to preventing and reversing heart disease. You also need to improve your HDL/LDL ratios, triglycerides, homocysteine and other lipid levels. Managing your lipid profiles is probably one of the most important aspects to health, longevity, and disease prevention. Making dramatic life-style changes — such as eating much better, eliminating many different foods and exercising daily — is very important but for many people can be difficult to start and it takes a longer time to see results. Do you know how to start easier and get faster results? CholesLo ™ contains ingredients that have been scientifically research and clinically tested to help support healthy cholesterol levels. CholesLo ™ Has Been Called: “A Super Vitamin For Your Heart”. CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IMPROVE FOR U.S. ADULTS

02:26
Testing blood cholesterol levels is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Studies show that higher levels of the "bad" or L-D-L cholesterol and lower levels of the "good" or H-D-L cholesterol are major risk factors for coronary heart disease. A new study examined if American adults are making favorable progress when it comes to managing healthy levels of cholesterol. Catherine Dolf has more in this week's JAMA Report.

Cholesterol Levels Chart Explanation - HDL and LDL cholesterol

04:23
In this video, you will find out what is the optimum cholesterol level and how HDL and LDL should be balanced. And if you want to discover a proven way to lower cholesterol naturally, click this link: ►► http://drsam.co/yt/cholesterolchart-choleslo And if you want to watch another video called "What is a normal cholesterol level?", click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1TEIwTUaeQ =============================================== Cholesterol Levels Chart - Balance between HDL and LDL =============================================== Hi … this is Dr. Sam Robbins Today’s question is from Debbie and she asks “Can you please explain and simplify the cholesterol numbers and charts?” This is a good question because I think we should all know more about how our body works because nobody will care more about your health than you will. First we have your “Total Cholesterol” numbers, which is the sum of all the cholesterol in your blood. As you can see from the chart, your goal should be less than 200mg/dL. However, I’d like to point out that I personally believe that anything less than 150mg/dL is TOO LOW! And yes, your cholesterol can be “too low” and I think that’s just as bad as “too high”, which is over 240mg/dL What most people don’t know or understand, is that your body NEEDS cholesterol and it has many important functions, such as: ● Producing your “sex hormones”, such as testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA and similar “youth” hormones ● Utilizing Vitamin D and other fat-soluble vitamins, which help your bones, nerves, metabolism, skin elasticity, strong immunity and so forth. ● Proper brain function, memory, cognition, balancing dopamine, serotonin and other “feel good” neurotransmitters. And this is a major problem with cholesterol lowering “statin” drugs and why they cause: ● Impotence ● Memory loss ● Accelerated aging ● Depression ● Etc. In a minute I’ll show you how you can easily improve your cholesterol levels naturally, WITHOUT the use of these harmful drugs or a restrictive diet. However, what I’d like to point out is that what matters most is the CORRECT BALANCE in your lipid levels, which is what I want to talk about next and that’s your HDL/LDL ratios... =HDL= First I’d like to start with your HDL, which is short for “high density lipoprotein”. Your HDL is considered the "good" cholesterol because it can help decrease the cholesterol buildup in the walls of your arteries, that causes narrowing of their openings. Generally speaking, the higher your HDL, the better. For example, after giving my mom some specific herbs that I’ll tell you about in a minute, I was able to raise her “good” HDL from 52 mg/dL to 94 mg/dL Her cardiologist and I are very happy because sometimes my mom’s TOTAL cholesterol goes in the “borderline high” range (200-239 mg/dL). However, we’re okay with that because her “good” HDL is so high and thus, very protective. =LDL= Lastly, I’d like to finish with your LDL, which is short for “low density lipoprotein”. Your LDL is considered the "bad" cholesterol because the risk of heart disease goes up if you have high levels of LDL. So you want this to be LOW This is basically the OPPOSITE of what HDL does. =Summary= Remember, your goal is to have healthy cholesterol levels between the range of 150-200 mg/dL. Too LOW is just as bad as too HIGH. And what matters most with your cholesterol numbers is your HDL/LDL ratios. You want your “good” HDL to be high and “bad” LDL to be low. A good way to remember this is the “H” in HDL for HIGH and “L” in LDL for LOW. I hope this video was helpful and gave your more clarity. ► 5 Worst High Cholesterol Foods You Must Avoid [Clinically Proven]

05:39
See how my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs: ►►►http://drsam.co/yt/StartLoweringYourCholesterolNaturally =============================== 5 Worst High Cholesterol Foods You Must Avoid [Clinically Proven] =============================== Cholesterol has many benefits and it’s definitely NOT your “enemy”. In fact, “low” cholesterol is just as bad as “high” cholesterol levels. However, there are certain foods that are really bad for you and can quickly increase your “bad” cholesterol levels and dramatically increase your risk for heart disease, a heart attack or stroke. Under this video I’ve got a special bonus video about how you can quickly lower your cholesterol levels in less than 30 days, naturally - without changing your diet or exercising. So make sure you take a look... However, let’s first start with the 5 worsts, clinically proven - “high cholesterol” foods that you must avoid! Dairy I’ve been saying this for over 2 decades - Milk is for babies and cow milk is for baby cows! Additionally, 99% of dairy products are pasteurized, which kills any benefits milk could have. Not to mention, the toxins, hormones and drugs these animals are given are highly concentrated in the milk - which goes inside of YOU! All of these factors, plus the saturated fat inside milk, increases your cholesterol and stresses your liver. It doesn’t matter if it’s whole, low or nonfat dairy, it’s all the same. Unfortunately, this also includes two of my favorite foods, ice cream and cheese! Fast Foods It doesn’t matter if it’s a burger, tacos, french fries, pizza or anything else - they’re all high in carbohydrates, hydrogenated and saturated fats, using unhealthy and toxic proteins. It’s cheap food. It may be easy and good for your wallet, but it’s bad for your health and cholesterol levels and you’ll pay the price later in life. Animal Protein The saturated fats and “marble fat” found in meat, pork, poultry and shell-fish is horrible for your health and cholesterol levels. I’ve noticed even grass-fed meat and free-range poultry can still cause high cholesterol in some of my patients, especially the “sensitive” ones. Limit your intake and focus more on vegetable proteins and fish - especially wild-caught salmon. Eggs Eggs can be good or bad. All the cholesterol and fat is located in the egg YOLK, which is why most “experts” say you should only consume egg whites. However, most of the nutrients, antioxidants and half the essential amino acids (protein) are also found in the yolk. The problem is when you COOK the yolk - such as hard-boiled, scrambled and fried eggs. The heat oxidizes the egg and damages both the structure of the protein and fat. So the healthiest way to eat eggs is raw or lightly cooked, so the yolk is still runny. Don’t fry it with butter or vegetable fats. And make sure it’s organic, free-range eggs. Baked Foods/Carbs (Snacks Too) Baked foods such as muffins, cakes, breads, donuts, croissants, rolls, cookies, danishes, scones, pie, etc… The types of foods most people eat in the morning when they’re in a rush, or with their coffee or at work as a snack… These are all bad because they contain hydrogenated and saturated fats, as well as dairy. Not to mention, they’re high in simple carbohydrates and sugars. “Bad” fats increase cholesterol. “Bad” fats + carbs/sugar REALLY increase your cholesterol and lead to numerous health issues. The combination is super unhealthy. Under this same category -- “Snack Foods” such as chips, pretzels, crackers and similar items are almost as bad as these bakes foods. Half of all Heart Attack Patients Have Normal Cholesterol Levels

16:38
A study was done showing 50% of all heart attack patients had normal cholesterol levels so books like The Cholesterol Myth point to this as evidence that cholesterol is irrelevant to heart disease risk since half have high cholesterol and the other half have low cholesterol. But....is that really the whole story or is there more to it than that? In this video I dissect the study that was done here: https://www.davedraper.com/fusionbb/fbbuploads/1299416134-275_Fonarow.pdf I then explain how acute phase response skews these results and what that means for using post-cardiac arrest cholesterol levels in assessing cholesterol level risk for heart attack risk. Cholesterol levels improve in the US - IN60

01:25
From Maryland - Cholesterol levels have improved in the US in the past 20 years, according to a report published in JAMA. Examining nationally representative data from 1988 to 2010, researchers found that average total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels declined over 22 years, with an increase in HDL cholesterol levels as well as cholesterol lowering medications. From Germany - Alcohol dependence may shorten lifespan more than smoking, according to a report published in Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research. Researchers studied over 4,000 adults for 14 years, 149 of whom were alcohol dependent. Results showed that mean age at death for females dependent on alcohol was 60 and 58 for males, both of which are 20 years earlier than the general population. From Denmark - A new report published in the Cochrane Library questions the benefits of routine general health checks. Results of a meta-analysis examining 14 studies and over 180,000 people found that general health checks did not reduce overall deaths, or deaths from heart disease or cancer.

Dave Feldman: Biohacking High Cholesterol Levels on Keto Diet

01:04:09
Dave Feldman explains how some get high cholesterol blood results on a keto diet, but how quickly you can reduce your cholesterol levels if needed. Dave is fast becoming a sought after cholesterol expert in the low carb diet community. This is because of his in depth and extensive self-experimentation results. Dave is a hyper-responder to a keto diet. This means when he eats more fat and less carb he experiences a rise in LDL cholesterol unlike others who can get the opposite. However, Dave is trying to crack the cholesterol code by testing on his own body what happens when he manipulates certain factors to his cholesterol blood test readings. He has discovered the inversion pattern plus devised the Feldman Protocol for reducing cholesterol within a day or two if needed quickly. What Is LDL Cholesterol And Why It's Called The BAD Cholesterol

04:02
►http://drsam.co/yt/LowerYourCholesterol - See how my parents lowered their cholesterol 100% naturally and how you can do the same starting today! =============================================== What Is LDL Cholesterol Why Is It Bad And How Can I Lower It Quickly And Naturally?? =============================================== A comprehensive lipid panel or “Cholesterol” blood test, provides information about the amount of cholesterol carried by different lipoproteins in your blood. There are 5 major types of lipoproteins; -Chylomicrons (ky-lo-mi-crons) typically triglycerides -very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), -intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL), -low-density lipoprotein (LDL) -high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Today I’m going to quickly cover your LDL, which is called low-density lipoprotein because LDL particles tend to be less dense than other kinds of cholesterol particles. This type of cholesterol is produced primarily by your liver, which is an important fact for you to know and I’ll tell you why in a few seconds... Now, this LDL cholesterol and is very important in the creation of cell walls, your hormones, and digestive juices. So, LDL is needed for a healthy body. Unfortunately, LDL is also known as the “Bad Cholesterol” because when your LDL level is high, it can start to form a plaque-like substance on the walls of your cardiovascular system (arteries and veins), blocking the natural flow of blood and leaving you at severe risk for a heart attack and stroke As seen in the chart presented in the video! Your goal is to have “lower” LDL levels, which is the OPPOSITE of HDL (high-density lipoprotein)... and I’ll cover HDL in a different video. An easy way to remember this is to think of the “L” in LDL as LOW and the “H” in HDL as HIGH And thus your goal is to have lower LDL and higher HDL How To Lower Your “Bad’ LDL Cholesterol A proper diet and exercise will help improve your LDL levels…. And i’ll discussed these two topics in detail in a different video. But what’s important to know is that as stated earlier, most of your cholesterol is made in your liver (80%)… and NOT from the foods you eat. Now, this doesn’t mean you can go eat pizza and ice cream every day…. But most people are doing the WRONG things to improve their cholesterol levels And this is why most of us aren’t getting the positive results we expect And we’re frustrated with the lack of results and sadly, we give up and take harmful medications. I know this because this is exactly the problems I ran into with lowering my parent’s cholesterol, levels back in 1998 I talk about this in further detail in a special video that you can click to watch in the description area below this video. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Despite having a BAD reputation as a high-risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol is an ESSENTIAL component of all animal cells. It is an INTEGRAL part of the cell membrane, providing membrane FLUIDITY and participating in a number of cellular processes. Cholesterol also serves as a PRECURSOR for production of bile, steroid hormones, and vitamin D. While the body can obtain cholesterol from food, many cells SYNTHESIZE their own ENDOGENOUS cholesterol. Cellular production of cholesterol is under NEGATIVE FEEDBACK control. LOW levels of intracellular cholesterol INDUCE its own production, while HIGH cholesterol levels INHIBIT it. Cholesterol, together with other lipids, is transported in blood plasma within large particles known as LIPOPROTEINS. A lipoprotein is an assembly of lipids and proteins. Lipoproteins are classified based on their DENSITY. Because lipids are LIGHTER than proteins, particles that contain MORE lipids are LARGER in size but have LOWER density. Different types of lipoproteins have different sets of proteins on their surface. These proteins serve as “ADDRESS tags”, determining the DESTINATION, and hence FUNCTION, of each lipoprotein. For example, LOW-density lipoprotein, LDL, carries cholesterol FROM the liver to other tissues, while HIGH-density lipoprotein, HDL, RETURNS excess cholesterol TO the liver. Major events in cholesterol metabolism include: - Dietary cholesterol ABSORBED in the intestine and carried in chylomicron to the liver. - The liver PACKAGES its cholesterol pool - a combination of endogenous and dietary - together with triglycerides, another type of lipid, into particles of VERY-LOW-density lipoprotein, VLDL. - VLDL travels in bloodstream to other organs. During circulation, muscle and adipose tissues EXTRACT triglycerides from VLDL, turning it into LOW-density lipoprotein, LDL. - Peripheral cells TAKE UP LDL by endocytosis, using LDL receptor. Cholesterol is used in cell membrane and other functions. - EXCESS cholesterol is exported from the cells and delivered to HIGH-density lipoprotein, HDL, to be RETURNED to the liver in a process called REVERSE cholesterol transport. - The liver uses cholesterol to produce BILE; bile is secreted to the intestine, where it helps break down fats. Part of this bile is EXCRETED in feces; the rest is RECYCLED back to the liver. LDL has the highest cholesterol content and is the MAJOR carrier of cholesterol in the blood. High levels of LDL in the blood are associated with cholesterol plaque build-up and cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. For this reason, LDL is known as “BAD” cholesterol. On the other hand, HDL is called “GOOD” cholesterol, because it REMOVES EXCESS cholesterol from tissues and bloodstream. Common drugs used to LOWER cholesterol include: INHIBITORS of endogenous cholesterol PRODUCTION; INHIBITORS of intestinal cholesterol ABSORPTION; and INHIBITORS of bile reuptake.

Home remedies for CHOLESTEROL CONTROL. LEARN how to LOWER CHOLESTEROL LEVELS naturally. Many of us are ignorant about how to reduce high cholesterol levels naturally! What Is Cholesterol: Cholesterol is both  good and bad for the body. Within normal levels, it is a great   substance for the body's normal functioning.  If the levels in the blood increase, cholesterol can be dangerous and can cause a heart attack. Every cell of the body has cholesterol. It is produced by the body but can also be obtained from food. It is waxy and fat-like in appearance.  Cholesterol is oil-based. It does not mix with the blood, which is water-based. It is transported through the body by two kinds of lipoproteins which are HDL(high-density lipoprotein) and LDL(low-density lipoprotein). Causes of Cholesterol:  High levels of LDL(low-density lipoprotein) result in an increase of cholesterol in the arteries, whereas HDL(high-density lipoprotein) carries cholesterol to the liver for removal from the body. High cholesterol levels narrow the arteries. This is called atherosclerosis, by which plaques form and cause restriction of blood flow.  An unhealthy diet and lack of exercise are also factors that contribute to bad Cholesterol.  How To Lower Cholesterol : Here are some healthy foods that reduce lower Cholesterol levels in the body.  Consume 2 servings of oats for breakfast daily.  If you are looking for more foods that will lower your cholesterol levels, then opt for Nuts. 7 Worst High Cholesterol Foods You Must Avoid

16:27
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that’s found in all cells of the body. Our bodies need cholesterol to make hormones that protect the body, vitamin D and bile salts that are necessary for the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Plus, the brain and nervous system depend on cholesterol for the creation of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. Our bodies make the cholesterol that we need, but we get cholesterol from our food too. If you have too much cholesterol, it starts to build up in your arteries and may lead to atherosclerosis, or the hardening of the arteries. Here is a list of 10 foods to avoid if you have a Cholesterol. 01:02 Macaroni And Cheese. 02:05 Egg Yolks. 03:09 Red Meats. 04:07 Milk and Other Conventional Dairy Products. 05:06 ice cream. 06:03 Canola Oil and Other Processed Vegetable Oils. 07:02 Cookies and Other Sugary Treats. 08:01 Bacon and Other Processed Meats. 09:08 Processed Meats. 10:01 Potato Chips and Other Packaged Foods. Macaroni and cheese are necessary to limit among the foods high in cholesterol to avoid. We all know that the main macaroni and cheese ingredients include cheese, butter, and whole milk. Many types of cheese are rich in cholesterol with about from 7 to 11% daily value for cholesterol per ounce. One of the most common foods high in cholesterol to avoid is egg yolks. We know that eggs are always a good choice for breakfast as it contains a lot of nutrients that is necessary for the body. But they are also rich in cholesterol that is not good for the people with heart disease and high cholesterol levels. Red meats are a good food for the health in general. But for the people with high cholesterol levels, they are the foods high in cholesterol to avoid. These meats like pork, lamb, and beef often have more saturated fat and cholesterol than other meats. Milk fat contains a broad range of fatty acids, and some have a negative impact on cholesterol-rich lipoproteins. The saturated fatty acids, such as lauric acid and myristic acid, increase total plasma cholesterol, especially LDL. In a cup of rich chocolate ice-cream, there are 15.36 grams of saturated fat which makes up almost a full day’s supply. This means once you consume one cup of rich chocolate ice cream, other sources of saturated fat such as meat, cheese, milk and other animal products should be avoided. When canola oil undergoes hydrogenation, which it often does to become a partially hydrogenated oil, this increases its level of trans fats. These are a group of fats that you want to avoid as much as possible since they’re scientifically known to increase LDL cholesterol and lower HDL cholesterol levels. Dietary sugars serve as the cause of obesity, several chronic diseases and a range of cardiometabolic risk factors. Today in the U.S., over 75 percent of packaged and processed foods contain some form of added sugar. Recent studies have shown that processed meats are associated with increased cardiovascular disease and stroke mortality. Evidence suggests that processed meat consumption increases the risk of heart health issues, while unprocessed meat consumption has a small or no association with cardiovascular disease. The processed meats like bacon, sausages, ham, beef sticks are high in cholesterol. These foods are very common and eaten with bread and hamburger. They are considered as a good choice for the busy people. But you should avoid these foods. Extensive research evaluates the rise in snacking, snack foods and ultra-processed foods in the American diet. Some studies show that 66 percent of calories consumed by U.S. citizens comes from packaged foods and beverages. Cholesterol Levels LDL - HDL

To determine the normal levels of cholesterol in the blood, see description of cholesterol levels as follows: Less than 200 mg per dl It is a measure of normal cholesterol levels. That is the amount of total cholesterol LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol), and triglycerides less than 200 mg per dl, thus heart disease will not snoop us. But that does not mean you continue to eat fatty foods that you know, (wah still normal, free to eat anything) remains set diet and exercising In the range of 200-239 mg per dl Including cholesterol levels are sufficient. If it's your cholesterol levels are in the range of 200-239 mg per dl, you should check to a laboratory to determine the details of the levels of LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. More than 240 mg per dl High-risk cholesterol levels. Why is that, because a person with a measure cholesterol levels are likely to develop heart disease. Normal levels of HDL cholesterol HDL levels normal for men ranges between 40-50 mg per dl, and between 20-60 mg per dl for women. If higher levels of HDL, the less the risk of heart disease. Normal levels of LDL cholesterol Conversely, the fewer the levels of LDL in the blood, the less risk of heart disease. In general, LDL levels are divided into the following categories; less than 100 mg per dl = very good Between 100-129 mg per dl = normal Between 130-159 mg per dl = sufficient Between 160-189 mg per dl = high more than 190 mg per dl = very high cholesterol levels by age cholesterol levels normal cholesterol levels in food

What Are Normal Cholesterol Levels, Triglyceride Levels & Healthy Cholesterol Ratios?

04:31
What are normal cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels and healthy cholesterol ratios? Normal total cholesterol levels have changed over time. Doctors now are saying total cholesterol should be 150 or below. As Dr. Dwight Lundell agrees and states here, a person cannot create proper hormones below 170. HDL levels and ldl normal range keep changing. When normal cholesterol levels and ratios keep changing over time....I smell a pharmaceutical product trying to sneak in here. There is no doubt statin drugs have side effects. The popular statin drugs to lower cholesterol are lipitor, ezetimibe simvastatin and atorvastatin and others. But are statin drugs safe? Remember don't treat a number and let a disease process happen and continue to have heart disease w/o knowing it! Dr. Dwight Lundell talks about medical studies, how they're funded by big pharma to make money off of sick people. ########### Extreme Health Academy https://www.extremehealthacademy.com Use code : EHR14 to start your free 14 day trial Full Show with Cardiologist Dr. Dwight Lundell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHIyqn16Lnw Our Store http://www.extremehealthradio.com/shop Support us on Patreon http://www.extremehealthradio.com/support Our Amazon Link http://www.extremehealthradio.com/amazon Never Miss A Show! http://www.extremehealthradio.com/subscribe Subscribe On Youtube http://www.extremehealthradio.com/youtube Facebook http://www.extremehealthradio.com/facebook Instagram https://www.instagram.com/extremehealthradio/

Cholesterol levels by age differences and recommendations

10:50
Whats New - Source: Cholesterol levels by age: Differences and recommendations. by Jenna Fletcher. Cholesterol levels vary by age, weight, and gender. Over time, a person's body tends to produce more cholesterol, meaning that all adults should check their cholesterol levels regularly, ideally about every 4 to 6 years. Cholesterol is measured in three categories: • total cholesterol • LDL, or 'bad cholesterol" • HDL, or 'good cholesterol" The struggle for most people is balancing these levels. While total and LDL cholesterol levels should be kept low, having more HDL cholesterol can offer some protection against a person developing heart-related illnesses including heart attacks and strokes. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/315900.php Be sure to visit us at Twitter http://twitter@monty0131.com link: http://stayingfittoday.com whatsnewmonty

High cholesterol levels | Set high cholesterol naturally

05:48
High cholesterol levels | Set high cholesterol naturally Keeping cholesterol at low and controlled levels requires you to follow a balanced diet, leave bad habits, such as tobacco and alcohol, and exercise regularly. Cholesterol is a type of fat, also known as lipid, found naturally in the body, as it is necessary to perform many vital functions. It exists in the brain, the liver, our nervous system, blood and bile - both in humans and animals. This is why experts recommend avoiding consumption of animal products if a person is diagnosed with high cholesterol. How can you regulate high cholesterol naturally? The liver produces the most cholesterol in the body, while the rest is consumed through our diet. Low-density lipoproteins, known as bad cholesterol or LDL , block our arteries because they are deposited in the artery walls and cause serious cardiovascular problems and other illnesses. The good cholesterol that the body needs is known as HDL or otherwise as a high density lipoprotein and helps remove bad cholesterol that clogs our arteries and liver, making it easier for the body to eliminate it. Although high cholesterol can be caused by various disorders or genetic factors, most people tend to raise it because of poor diet and sedentary lifestyle. So to regulate and prevent high cholesterol , it is important to change some habits and the foods we eat . Foods to regulate high cholesterol. As mentioned earlier, the foods we consume play a very important role in the prevention and regulation of high cholesterol. A healthy diet eliminates bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases HDL levels. Here we will discuss some of the foods that help regulate your cholesterol. Don't forget to subscribe For more recipes and tips, subscribe to the channel! EXECUTIVE WELLNESS EP10- MAINTAINING THE RIGHT CHOLESTEROL LEVELS

06:24
EXECUTIVE WELLNESS EP10- MAINTAINING THE RIGHT CHOLESTEROL LEVELS. The human body is made up of 5 vital organs that keep us running, the brain, the heart, the liver, the lungs, the kidneys. Of these five, the most important and yet the most overlooked is the heart, just like most car users often neglect to take care of their car batteries, humans also tend to ignore their hearts literarily, until the heart begins to cause major health concerns. One of the most important factors that affects the operation of the heart is your cholesterol level, but we often try to shy away from this because it inadvertently affects what we eat. Cholesterol is a fatty substance that is carried around the body in the blood. The body produces most cholesterol naturally, and it is found in some foods. Lipoproteins carry cholesterol in the blood. The two main types that carry cholesterol to and from cells are called low density lipoproteins and high-density lipoproteins, so cholesterol is basically a fat that your body needs to work properly. Too much bad cholesterol can increase your chance of getting heart disease, stroke, and other problems. The medical term for high blood cholesterol is lipid disorder, hyperlipidemia, or hypercholesterolemia. It is highly expedient to pay proper attention to your cholesterol levels and ensure you maintain the normal level as the two extremes, low and high wouldn’t do your body a world of good. These are five easy ways to maintain a good cholesterol level in the body • Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans We don’t have to become complete vegetarians to get our cholesterol levels into healthy ranges, but clearly, the more vegetables, fruits, potatoes, and other naturally-fiber-rich plant foods we eat, the healthier we’ll be. Read More • Be mindful of fat intake Learn about the fats you should avoid, and the "good" fats you should limit. There are 3 major group of fats to consider keeping a close eye on; 1. Saturated fats Foods with a lot of heart-damaging saturated fat include butter, meat, palm oil, coconut oil, and full-fat and low-fat dairy products, such as whole milk, low-fat milk, cheese, and cream. 2. Trans fats If you see partially hydrogenated fat in the Ingredient List of a food label, that food has trans fats, which not only raise bad LDL cholesterol, they also lower good HDL cholesterol. 3. Dietary cholesterol Top sources of dietary cholesterol include egg yolks, organ meats, and shellfish. • Eat more plant sources of protein Learn about excellent plant proteins that, rather than raising blood cholesterol levels, as animal sources of protein do, actually help lower cholesterol. • Eat fewer refined grains, such as white flour Intake of whole grains are a better choice than the refined grains. Whole grains like whole-wheat couscous, polenta (cornmeal), quinoa, wild rice, and kasha are also beneficial to maintain proper cholesterol ranges. • Get moving Find a simple and practical plan that's easy to weave into daily life. Regular exercise plays a vital role in aiding the right cholesterol levels. Experts have agreed that watching your food intake is the easiest way to keep proper taps of your cholesterol level and the following foods can help in keeping your heart and body right. 1. Oats. An easy first step to improving your cholesterol is having a bowl of oatmeal or cold oat-based cereal like Cheerios for breakfast. It gives you 1 to 2 grams of soluble fiber. Add a banana or some strawberries for another half-gram. 2. Barley and other whole grains. Like oats and oat bran, barley and other whole grains can help lower the risk of heart disease, mainly via the soluble fiber they deliver. 3. Beans. Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. They also take a while for the body to digest, meaning you feel full for longer after a meal. That's one reason beans are a useful food for folks trying to lose weight. 4. Eggplant and okra. These two low-calorie vegetables are good sources of soluble fiber. 5. Nuts. Studies have shown that eating almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and other nuts is good for the heart. Nuts also have additional nutrients that protect the heart in other ways. 6. Vegetable oils. Using liquid vegetable oils such as canola, sunflower, safflower, and others in place of butter, lard, or shortening when cooking or at the table helps reduce your low-density lipoproteins. 7. Apples, grapes, strawberries, citrus fruits. These fruits are rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber that also help reduce low density lipoproteins. 8. Foods fortified with sterols and stanols. Sterols and stanols extracted from plants gum up the body's ability to absorb

Dr. Ronald Krauss on LDL Cholesterol, Particle Size, Heart Disease & Atherogenic Dyslipidemia

01:21:18
Dr. Ronald Krauss, M.D. is the director of atherosclerosis research at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute, Adjunct Professor at UCSF and UC Berkeley. Dr. Krauss is really one of the pioneering scientists that changed the way we all think about cholesterol. He developed an assay that allows the quantification of low-density lipoprotein particle size and concentration (known to the wider world mostly as just "LDL cholesterol") based on a technique which determines the size of the particle based on physics...meaning the speed at which it flies through the air. This test which has not yet been fully adopted into all clinical practice in the manner that the total LDL cholesterol test has is known as the "ion mobility" test. In this episode, Rhonda and Ron discuss what HDL and LDL cholesterol are, what they do in the body, critical distinctions between the particle sizes of LDL and HDL, and how they play a role in heart disease. We talk about what small, dense LDL particles are, how they form, what effect eating saturated fat versus refined carbohydrates have on LDL particle size and heart disease risk and more generally what the main risk factors for heart disease are. Ron also talks about the good, bad and the ugly of LDL-lowering drugs known as statins, what the characteristics are of atherogenic dyslipidemia, riffs on the manner in which inflammatory cell wall components of bacteria, such as lipopolysaccharide, may interact with cholesterol to make it more harmful, and the effects of sugars on lipid production, and so much more. ▶︎ Get the show notes and transcript! https://www.foundmyfitness.com/episodes/ronald-krauss ▶︎ Join my weekly newsletter: http://www.foundmyfitness.com/?sendme=nutrigenomics ▶︎ Crowdfund more videos: http://www.patreon.com/foundmyfitness ▶︎ Subscribe on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=foundmyfitness ▶︎ Subscribe to the podcast: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/foundmyfitness/id818198322 ▶︎ Twitter: http://twitter.com/foundmyfitness ▶︎ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/foundmyfitness ▶︎ Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/foundmyfitness
