Most people today use white or wheat flour and don’t know about the multiple side effects they cause. There are all-natural, great-tasting flours that you can substitute with. Bob’s Red Mill Company and Sprouted Flour Company are both great alternatives you can use. Coconut flour is high in fiber, healthy fats, helps you lose weight, boosts your metabolism, and is another great replacement flour to consume. A general, gluten-free, Bob’s Red Mill flour is a great substitute because it’s made with chickpea from garbanzo bean flour, sorghum flour, and potato starch. This flour has good texture and one cup of this flour is equal to one cup of regular white flour. Gluten-free, sprouted yellow corn flower is another great flour to use with cooking because the flour is soaked, which kills off phytic acid, allowing you to absorb vitamins and minerals more easily. This flour is also good for cooking cornbread. Organic spelt flour is a flour I recommend because it is sprouted and easy to cook with. Additionally, gluten-free sprouted oat flour is great for chocolate chip raisin oatmeal cookies, which taste amazing, but it’s also easy to digest. Brown rice flour from Bob’s Red Mill Company is a healthy substitute which is non-allergenic for a lot of people and can be digested well. Lastly, finely ground almond meal flour is a great flour to use when cooking because almonds are loaded with fiber, L-arginine, healthy fats, and can be used for a lot of different kinds of recipes. These seven natural, gluten-free substitute flours are great replacements and you won’t deal with the side effects of white and wheat flours! Here's an inside look into our vegan dark chocolate chickpea bark making process. We make our chocolate from scratch adding coconut sugar to make our 72% dark chocolate. People who have nut allergies can appreciate this snack because it gives you that crunchy texture that goes well with the richness of chocolate. If you are trying our chocolate bark for the first time you won't even realize that the crunch is chickpeas. Tempering gives chocolate that shine and prevents it from melting in your hands after you add ingredients to your chocolate or shape it. The process requires you to melt the chocolate and sugar to 115 degrees Fahrenheit, cool it to 80 degrees, and finally bring it back up to 90 degrees. After properly tempering we add our crushed roasted chickpeas and spread it on sheet trays that are lined with silpat mats. Once the chocolate hardens we break them in to pieces and we pack the barks into bags. ✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Flatbread : In one of my What I Ate Wednesday videos, I presented these sweet potato flatbreads with mashed avocados as what I ate for breakfast on that day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CoKinIJyDM). I have had quite a few requests for the recipe since then. So, I thought I'd share the recipe; it is such an easy one with just two ingredients. Who doesn't like a two-ingredient recipe?! One important procedure in this recipe is to use the sweet potato while it is hot. The heat makes a much softer roti. By the way, white sweet potatoes would also work well in this recipe although the dough may require a tablespoon of water added in as white sweet potatoes tend to be a little drier than the orange ones. These sweet potato rotis also keep well in an airtight container for the next day. Reheating them on a tawa or skillet brings their softness back. They go well with sweet as well as savoury fillings. I do suggest you pair them with some spicy curry as their subtle sweetness makes a palatable contrast. ✿ FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE ✿ ▶ http://www.veganlovlie.com/2015/03/sweet-potato-flatbread-no-added-oil.html Concerning Gluten-Free options: I have experimented with a store-bought gluten-free flour blend but it didn't work well. It had a blend of rice flour, tapioca flour, cornstarch and some gum. Some people have tried with chickpea flour+millet mix and they said they obtained some decent results although they had to do smaller ones because they were a bit more tricky to handle. Other people have tried with coconut flour and reported that the rotis turned out good enough although they had to keep flouring them when rolling them out. I suggest if you using one of these gluten-free flours/mix, you try roll then out in between 2 sheets of parchment or wax paper. This vegan gluten free soy free breakfast sandwich will change your f*cking life. Recipe: 1 cup chick peas (from a can) 1/3 C non-dairy milk (I used unsweetened coconut milk) 2 tbsp nutritional yeast 2 tbsp tapioca flour or corn starch 1/4 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp garlic sea salt & ground pepper to taste (make sure you open the correct side of the salt haha!) blend everything together until smooth spoon about ¼ cup onto an oiled, heated pan. Flatten them out into pancakes. When the edges start to darken flip them over. Wait until they feel nice and sturdy otherwise they can break. They take about 6 minutes to cook in total. Fry up some onions and mushrooms while the egg patties cook. Top your toast with vegan mayo, tomato, and Kala Namak!
