Greek Mythology God and Goddesses Documentary

01:28:59
Greek Mythology is the body of myths and teachings that belong to the ancient Greeks, concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual practices. It was a part of the religion in ancient Greece and is part of religion in modern Greece and around the world, known as Hellenismos. Modern scholars refer to and study the myths in an attempt to throw light on the religious and political institutions of Ancient Greece and its civilization, and to gain understanding of the nature of myth-making itself.[1] Greek mythology is explicitly embodied in a large collection of narratives, and implicitly in Greek representational arts, such as vase-paintings and votive gifts. Greek myth attempts to explain the origins of the world, and details the lives and adventures of a wide variety of gods, goddesses, heroes, heroines, and mythological creatures. These accounts initially were disseminated in an oral-poetic tradition; today the Greek myths are known primarily from Greek literature. The oldest known Greek literary sources, Homer's epic poems Iliad and Odyssey, focus on events surrounding the Trojan War. Two poems by Homer's near contemporary Hesiod, the Theogony and the Works and Days, contain accounts of the genesis of the world, the succession of divine rulers, the succession of human ages, the origin of human woes, and the origin of sacrificial practices. Myths are also preserved in the Homeric Hymns, in fragments of epic poems of the Epic Cycle, in lyric poems, in the works of the tragedians of the fifth century BC, in writings of scholars and poets of the Hellenistic Age, and in texts from the time of the Roman Empire by writers such as Plutarch and Pausanias. Archaeological findings provide a principal source of detail about Greek mythology, with gods and heroes featured prominently in the decoration of many artifacts. Geometric designs on pottery of the eighth century BC depict scenes from the Trojan cycle as well as the adventures of Heracles. In the succeeding Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods, Homeric and various other mythological scenes appear, supplementing the existing literary evidence.[2] Greek mythology has had an extensive influence on the culture, arts, and literature of Western civilization and remains part of Western heritage and language. Poets and artists from ancient times to the present have derived inspiration from Greek mythology and have discovered contemporary significance and relevance in the themes.

Ron Wyatt and Jim and Penny Caldwell risked their lives blazing a trail of truth across the Saudi desert to discover the real Mt. Sinai. Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God

02:38:29
Lecture I in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories series from May 16th at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. In this lecture, I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power. I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals. The Mountain of God: Secrets of the Real Mount Sinai - Shabbat Night Live - 5/18/18

01:28:30
In this exclusive series, Michael Rood interviews Jim and Penny Caldwell as they discuss the amazing behind-the-scenes story — the secrets of the REAL Mt. Sinai — from Jim and Penny themselves in “The Mountain of God”! If you’ve seen photos or video revealing the summit of Mt. Sinai still blackened to this day by the fire of YeHoVaH… the split rock at Horeb that satisfied the thirst of the Israelites… or the amazing markings on a slab of rock that was once the altar to the golden calf… you’ve seen the work of Jim and Penny Caldwell. Jim and Penny spent many years living and working in the Saudi Arabian oil industry, but their real passion was to find and document evidence that the true location of Mt. Sinai is not in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, but in Saudi Arabia. And they risked their lives to do it! Don’t miss this exclusive interview series conducted by Michael Rood that will keep you on the edge of your seat, all on this week’s episode of Shabbat Night Live!

Indian civilization: The Untold Story- A Talk by Raj Vedam

01:37:25
What if the history of India that we learn in our textbooks tells only part of the story, and worse, tells the story incorrectly? What if there are significant periods missing in the narration on Indian history that is not being told today? In this talk he critiques present-day narratives, examines the evidence from a variety of scientific disciplines, and presents a unique, strong and compelling case for an untold prehistory of India.

Lessons from Easter Island | Carl Lipo | TEDxBermuda

21:51
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Anthropologist Dr. Carl Lipo says everything we thought about Easter Island’s famous collapsed civilisation is wrong. He suggests Bermuda can learn lessons from that catastrophe about long-term survival on our own isolated, water-parched island. I currently serve as an Associate Professor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). I am part of the faculty of that forms the basis of a Program in Archaeology and a founding member of IIRMES, a multi-disciplinary institute for the study of materials, environments and society. At CSULB, I teach classes in Introductory Archaeology, World Prehistory, Eastern North American Prehistory, Artifact Analysis, GIS, Statistics, Method and Theory, Foundations of Anthropology Field Research Design, Geophysical Techniques, and the Scientific Study of Origins. My research focuses on the use of evolutionary theory to generate scientific explanations about human cultural change in the archaeological record. I see this focus as a critical challenge for the social sciences and that our ability to be able to due this task vital to our future. My perspective is fairly idiosyncratic to my background but lodged in the philosophy of science and evolutionary biology. You can view some of my recent work (here) to see a little into how I think about the world. My recent studies include the development of theoretical models and the construction of methods for studying patterns of change caused by cultural transmission and the process of natural selection in cultural systems. In addition, I have interests in remote sensing to efficiently and non-destructively study the record. This work includes the use of magnetometry, resistivity, conductivity, thermal imagery and ground penetrating radar. My field research has taken me from the Mississippi river valley to Easter Island to California and coastal Guatemala. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

2017 Maps of Meaning 1: Context and Background

02:31:27
In this lecture, I discuss the context within which the theory I am delineating through this course emerge: that of the cold war. What is belief? Why is it so important to people? Why will they fight to protect it? I propose that belief unites a culture's expectations and desires with the actions of its people, and that the match between those two allows for cooperative action and maintains emotional stability. I suggest, further, that culture has a deep narrative structure, presenting the world as a forum for action, with characters representing the individual, the known, and the unknown -- or the individual, culture and nature -- or the individual, order and chaos. Pillsbury State Park - Unnamed Peak

04:49
NH Fire Tower List map… https://mapsengine.google.com/map/viewer?mid=zOyLliZneehw.kXHr4AnQ__mU Today’s adventure brought us to an unnamed peak Pillsbury State Park in Washington, NH. This peak would be # 65 on the Fire Tower List of the 93 fire towers that are standing, once stood or were proposed. We believe that this is the peak that had the fire tower and not N.E. Goves. We did find artifacts on this peak including a fireplace. On N.E. Goves all we could find was a sign in jar hanging from a tree. We took the Mad Road Trail and bushwhack up to the summit. This video was filmed using the Canon HF G30 and edited using Adobe CS6.

DuBois High School Oral History

38:34
These oral histories were collected by youth in Fayette County, WV, through a partnership between Fayette County 4-H, DuBois on Main, Beauty Mountain Studio, and the Mt Hope Community Fund. Visit duboisonmain.org for more information. The history of DuBois High School extends back to 1906 when an extra levy to establish Fayette County, WV's first high schools–a white school at Oak Hill and a Negro school at Hilltop–were put on the ballot in the Fayetteville School District. The first school was housed in the old MacDonald First Baptist Church. The actual building became a reality when the eight room brick building was erected on the hillside in Mount Hope in 1917. It was named after Dr. W.E.B. DuBois, an illustrious educator and civil rights leader on the staff of Howard University, Washington, DC. at that time. During 1917 to 1927, a number of physical changes were made on the inadequate building to justify its existence as a first class high school. The old brick DuBois High School and the frame building behind it serving as a Jr. High were destroyed by fire on June 23, 1950. For years following the fire, pupils were housed in temporary quarters. Almost four years later, the new building erected on the 19-21 Bypass at Turkey Knob near the city limits of Mount Hope was dedicated with an open house January 30 through February 1, 1954. This new building with its gleaming tile floors; rows of lockers, spacious classrooms and laboratories were the most modern in the county, possibly the state, and was a far cry from the dingy brick building on the hill and the make-shift quarters in which DuBois pupils had been attending classes. Two years later, DuBois High School no longer existed. In May 1956, on the day seniors were out of the building for a planned event, school officials came to the new school and announced, to the surprise and dismay of many, the integration and bussing plan. In September of the same year, DuBois High School was integrated and immediately renamed Mt. Hope High School. Trophies and other artifacts won by DuBois students, their clubs, organizations and history were dispensed to unknown locations and/or destroyed. However, the plaque on the wall at the entrance of the building states “DuBois High School” and was evidence that was covered with a trophy case. In spite of, and perhaps because of these events, many DuBois students have made outstanding local, state and national achievements in many fields of endeavor. Science, the arts, medicine, religion, education, the military, public service and business are among areas in which DuBois students have excelled.

Lore For Noobs - Malfurion Stormrage (part 1)

04:01
Malfurion Stormrage was the first known mortal druid to walk Azeroth, trained by Cenarius himself, ten thousand years ago. When the War of the Ancients began, he led his time traveling buddies Broxigar, Krasus, and Rhonin, along with Illidan and Tyrande, to Captain Kur'Talos Ravencrest, in hopes of finding allies in Ravencrest to push back the demons. Eventually, Cenarius shows Malfurion how to access the Emerald Dream. While within the dream, scouting the palace of Zin'Ashari, home of Queen Azshara and her Highbourne mages, Malfurion discovers an evil force, and realizes that this is where the demons were pouring into Azeroth from. It was none other than Lord Xavius leading the casters, and, with his implanted magic eyes, saw Malfurion through the dream and captured his mind in a trap. Eventually Malfurion escapes and while channelling the power of nature, summons power strong enough to tear Xavius apart, and dissolve his very being.. Eventually, after a series of small battles, Deathwing, then Neltharion, unleashed the power of the Dragon Soul, later the Demon Soul upon the demons...and the dragons. After being pushed back to his lair, the demons began their assault once more. Malfurion, knocked unconscious from a spell by Archimonde, was dragged from the battle by Tyrande. Eventually he woke up and wandered off, only to come back to find Tyrande unconscious now, and being carried away by Satyr into a portal. After a short fight with the new Xavius, the first satyr, Malfurion used an arrow shot into Xavius by Shandris Feathermoon to create a tree from within Xavius, sort of like Harold from Fallout 3. However, Tyrande was carried through the portal, and in his grief from loss, Malfurion summons a horrible storm that nearly washed away both the demons, and the night elves. After much time and much grief, Malfurion formed a plan to steal the Demon Soul from Deathwing. Using a combination of scouting through the Emerald Dream, and the combined effort of Brox, Malfurion, and Krasus, managed to find and take the artefact, only to have it stolen again by Illidan and Captain Varo'Then. Finally, Cenarius returned to Malfurion with all the ancient creatures of Azeroth, including Ursol and Ursoc, and Aviana, to join the fight, and find Illidan, who had since defected to Azshara, and return Tyrande. After a brutal fight, ending with the purging of the demons from Azeroth, the night elves retreated to Mount Hyjal to evade the sundering. Here, Illidan attempted to create a new well, and when found by Malfurion and after attempting to kill him, was sentenced to death by Jarod Shadowsong. Malfurion, feeling pity for his brother, requested that instead he be sent to an underground prison and held there until he seemed reformed, even if it took ten thousand years. Malfurion then took leadership of the night elves, and abolished the arcane, instead teaching his people the way of Cenarius. The way of the druids
