Should You Take Hormones When You Get Older?

Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY or go here: https://www.drberg.com/how-to-do-ketosis In this video, Dr. Berg talks about do we need to take hormones when we get older. Hormone which is made by the glands are the communications or the messages that tells the body what to do and travels by the blood. When the hormone connects with the receptor on the other end, the function will be activated and the feedback loop comes back to the gland if the function is complied so it would stop producing the hormone. He also talks about the basics to help the Endocrine System. There are no studies that compare bioidentical hormones to synthetic hormones (Comes with risk). Possible Reasons Why the Gland Stopped Talking • Counter Hormones – Insulin, Estrogen, Cortisol (These hormones can nullify or interfere with testosterone) • Insulin – It can increase androgens in women and decrease testosterone in men. • Endocrine Disruptors – Block Receptors • Junk Food / Alcohol – Destroys the Liver (Fatty Liver would make the liver not have the full capacity of the liver function) • Statins – Drugs that blocks the body to make Cholesterol Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 52 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. My BioIdentical Hormone 30 lb Weight Gain Story & How I Lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks

13:50
http://jenspringer.com/4-things-for-women My BioIdentical Hormone Weight Gain & How I Lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks. Got a story to tell you! Grab a pen, pad, and something to drink especially if you are a woman that cannot lose A POUND OF WEIGHT! If you are concerned you're gaining weight for no reason, this is an important video for weight gain and weight loss due to hormones. Few years we were exposed to mold. It affected me with my hormones. Neurological problems, panic attacks, anxiety, feeling crazy, thyroid out the window and severe hormone problems. Adrenals out the window too, adrenal fatigue. With a lot of research and my own practitioner experience with a MS in Nutrition, BS Environmental Science, and AS in Massage Therapy. I knew there were something going on, one doesn't lose weight and feel crazy for no reason. One of my physicians gave me a mega dose of bioidentical progesterone at 200 mg / day. I gained a pound a week! All progesterone turned into estrogen and weight gain was so bad I gained 30 pounds of fat. Weight gain not due eating. I eat vegetables, proteins, complex carbohydrates that are all low glycemic. The weight gain was NOT due to diet. No sugar, no sugar drinks. The scale every week was going up a pound. I surrendered myself to the 30 pounds because I was sleeping better, not feeling as crazy, and stopped tremoring. 6 months went by and I found a different physician. He explained to me that ALL of the progesterone was turning into estrogen. Estrogen affects blood sugar by increasing insulin and also lowers thyroid function. Sugar increases in the blood and FAT STORES in the belly. It was tough!!! The dose of progesterone was lowered and was paired with chrysin. My progesterone and testosterone was low and estrogen was high. I stopped gaining weight immediately after the lower dose w/ progesterone and chrysin. Every few months I tried to lose weight and I'd feel crazy due to hormones releasing during weight loss. Sleep problems, anxiety, and feeling crazy. Then I started estrogen detoxification for 1.5 years SLOWLY every day, EVERY DAY and being mindful about diet no eating anything possibly estrogenic. No soy or pomegranates. No ginger, cinnamon, turmeric for me either. Lots of spice can act estrogenic affect too. I would keep detoxing then I would try to lose the bioidentical hormone weight gain and I would feel crazy again. The weight I gained for no logical reason! It took 2 years of detoxing estrogen before I could lose any weight. I would test the waters. January 1st 2018 I said ENOUGH of the weight. I remembered when I easily maintained weight and I did that. Breakfast NOON Lunch 4 pm Dinner 8 pm Snack 12 am (because of hypoglycemia) No snacking in between meals. No drinks with calories. Body will use the fuel from previous meals and will help balance leptin levels. This intermittant fasting thing started working really well and SLASHED calories to 1100-1200 a day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1100 to 1200 calories on the 12-4-4-4 meal times with low glycemic (55 and under) foods. Friday, Saturday, Sunday normal calories and still low glycemic foods. Sometimes I do 12-4-4-4 and sometimes I snack. Not super ridgid. My BioIdentical Hormone Weight Gain & How I Lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks 1. Intermittent fasting 2. Calorie slashing 3. Glycemic Index under 55 Log all foods in the glycemic index to watch the GI and calories. Daily glycemic average is between 35-45. Very important to keep insulin levels low to lose weight. These are a few things you can try, we are all different. More videos on how to detox extrogen and low glycemic but this can get you started. You are not alone if you have gained weight on bioidentical hormones, progesterone can become estrogen so easily. Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy After a Hysterectomy - Karyn's Testimonial

03:30
TRANSCRIPTION: Hi my name is Karyn. I am 41 and about five years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. Since then I had a bad tumble. About six months ago I came into contact with Dr. Shel and it was the best decision that I could have made. Whenever I saw Dr. Shel for the first time I was physically and mentally exhausted. I wasn't sleeping at night. I couldn't handle the stresses of family and work. I would lose my temper very easily with my family, with my co-workers, and it just wasn't me. So, I had gone to my gynacologist to get reevaluated to see if an adjustment of my hormones needed to be to be made. I went there, I got some sort of adjustment and it just wasn't working. So, the ultimate was whenever my family found me passed out on the floor. I literally could not tell you what happened for three days. I was exhausted, my body had hit bottom. So, I have a dear friend recommend coming to see Dr. Shel. She had great success with Dr. Shel so I decided to call the office. My first conversation with them was in desperation. They could tell that it was not a good situation and I was able to see Dr. Shel the same week. My first impression of Dr. Shel was genuine and sincere. I was a mess whenever I came into her office and she spent a lot of time with me asking questions, wanting to get to know who I was and ultimately who I wanted to be. After a lot of testing of hormones and thyroid and food sensitivities we both together came up with a plan to get me back on track. She is very sincere. She takes the time to not only look at test results on paper but she listened to your symptoms and your concerns, and she goes by that. Whereas most doctors will look at the test results on paper and treat the results on the paper. That's not always true when it comes to women and their hormones. That was six months ago. Now I am resting. I having much better relationship with my family. I have a better balance. Dr. Shel had taught me that it is ok to take time for yourself. It's needed, and now I agree. So, I really thank Dr. Shel for giving me my life back. My family thanks you, my friends thank you, and you have a patient for life. Learn more at http://www.drshel.com/

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy | Amen Clinics

02:44
Dr. Mark Filidei is an Internal Medicine physician and is the Director of Integrative/Functional Medicine for Amen Clinics. http://www.amenclinics.com/ Subscribe for the newest from Amen Clinics: http://goo.gl/AcPD2L Fluctuating levels of hormones can cause one or more of the following: hot flashes, fatigue, night sweats, irregular periods, insomnia, breast tenderness, memory loss, weight gain, mood swings, anxiety, low sex drive and increased skin wrinkling. At Amen Clinics, we realize the value of natural hormone replacement therapy. In addition to alleviating the symptoms of menopause and reducing risk of osteoporosis, hormone replacement can also aid in the anti-aging process, improve your memory and mood, and create an overall sense of well-being. We specialize in Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. After a thorough examination and the necessary lab tests, Dr. Mark Filidei will prescribe for you the proper natural hormones that will help you balance your hormones. Bioidentical hormones are exactly the same hormones, molecule by molecule that your body produces. They are modified in a lab derived mostly from plant sources but are still considered natural to your body because they are identical. Body does not consider then a foreign substance and so does not cause any adverse reactions. Synthetic hormones are also made in a lab, but most importantly are not identical to your body. Bioidentical hormones are superior to types of synthetic hormones commonly prescribed. Hormones are powerful substances that control multiple functions through out the body. Hormone levels should be sufficient and balanced. Too little or too much of them is not conducive to long-term emotional, mental and bodily health. Just as you cannot balance your bank account without numbers on your bank statements, hormones testing provide both a basis for treatment and proximity to your goal. One can then customize natural hormone dosing to meet individual needs. In other words Optimize hormone levels for minimum dose to relieve symptoms and avoid overdosing. We may choose to prescribe various different hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, Cortisol, DHEA, Melatonin, or growth hormone, depending on what your symptoms are and which hormone(s) your body needs. This is done on a gradient scale so as to let the body adjust itself naturally. As a woman approaches menopause, her hormone production may fluctuate wildly, causing hot flashes, moodiness, depression, loss of libido, sleep problems, and more. Some women experience symptoms early - in some cases 10-15 years before clinical menopause. Literally, menopause means the cessation of the monthly menstrual cycle and signals the end of a woman's natural childbearing years. Menopause is neither a disease nor an illness; it is a natural and usually gradual change in glandular function, when major hormonal shifts occur as a result of ovaries not producing estrogen and progesterone. On average, this occurs at age 52, but can occur much earlier or later. Bioidentical Hormones Expert Dr Anne Trussell Little Rock Arkansas

04:48
Anne Trussell MD (Board Certified Internal Medicine) offers Natural Bioidentical Hormone Therapy in her Little Rock, Arkansas practice which focuses on Healthy Aging. This seminar hosted by the BioTe spokesperson Terri Suresh goes into detail on the benefits of plant based Natural Bioidentical Hormones and identifies the benefits over man made synthetic hormones. Pellet Therapy uses hormones derived from natural plant sources to replicate the body's normal hormonal levels. Patients have found that bio-identical hormone replacement therapy with pellet implants is extremely effective. Implants, placed under the skin, consistently release small, physiologic doses of hormones providing optimal therapy. Unlike typical oral and transdermal forms of therapy -- which produce "roller coaster" hormone levels, resulting in mood and energy fluctuations for the patient -- BioTE® Medical Hormone Pellet Therapy, is the only method of hormone therapy that provides sustained hormone levels throughout the day, for up to 4 to 6 months, without any "roller coaster" effect. Because the hormones used are completely natural, Pellet Therapy is ideal for patients wanting the benefits of a natural hormone, without the drawbacks of a synthetic. The goal with hormone pellet replacement therapy in women AND men is to restore our natural hormone balance. The majority of symptoms that are associated with age related hormone loss are due primarily to testosterone deficiency in BOTH women & men. FATIGUE, sleep loss, memory loss, mental fog, confusion, depression, irritability, anxiety and mood swings are some of the BRAIN symptoms of low testosterone. There are thousands of receptors for testosterone in the areas of the brain responsible for mood, mental clarity and memory that are affected as testosterone levels decline with age. Symptoms of low testosterone include night sweats, joint pain, bladder symptoms, headaches, low libido, decreased vaginal lubrication in women, decreased ability to maintain and sustain erection in men, and weight gain. Symptoms of estrogen imbalance include hot flashes, vaginal wall thinning and skin related changes such as collagen loss. Estrogen is a woman's most important hormone. Without hormone replacement therapy, the loss of estrogen puts her at increased risk for premature ovary failure, osteoporosis, heart disease, colon cancer, Alzheimer's disease, tooth loss, impaired vision, Parkinson's disease and diabetes. The longer a woman is without the protection of her own estrogen, the greater the risk for serious health consequences of these conditions. There are estrogen receptors in a variety of organs throughout the body and brain. That's why hormonal imbalance produces different symptoms such as loss of skin elasticity, bone shrinkage, mood and cognitive decline. On the other hand, when estrogen levels rise as they do in the first week of menses, their overall effect is to increase the amount of serotonin available in the spaces between the brain's nerve cells. That improves mood. Within the brain, estrogen may in fact act as a natural antidepressant and mood stabilizer. It is therefore essential that a woman suffering from premature ovary failure or surgical menopause receive treatment from a HRT physician who understands the many ramifications of the disease and is willing and able to meet her endocrine and emotional needs. Beware of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

06:32
Here are the links to additional information about HRT and Bio-identical hormones: 5 steps to natural menopause: http://lesliekenton.com/health/into-the-bliss/5-steps-ideal-menopause-part-2/ Beware of HRT: http://lesliekenton.com/health/into-the-bliss/beware-hrt/ In the next 5 minutes, I want to share with you essential truths about hormone replacement therapy—HRT. This stuff that vitally important for you to know. But first, let me ask this: Do you feel or have you fever been afraid, confused or frustrated about your own menstrual, peri-menopausal or menopausal issues? I know I once did. Intense hormonal changes can make you feel like you’re going crazy, so you’re not even sure who you are any more. And these symptoms can start as early as 10 years before menopause arrives. Natural hormonal shifts are natural transformations in every woman’s life. And, believe it or not, they can even be profoundly beneficial. But you need to learn how best o handle them. We women are constantly told that we have to take drug-based artificial hormone drugs known as HRT to do this. I’m here to tell you this is most certainly not the way to go. Why? Because medically based HRT— using synthetic drugs can produce massive side effects. It is also incapable of delivering genuine healing. It cannot treat fundamental causes. It can only mask symptoms. In the process, synthetic HRT hormones can poison your body long-term. Drug-based synthetic estrogens, progestins and progestogens commonly prescribed as HRT are fundamentally dangerous. Used long-term, they may even be life-threatening. We women need to band together and challenge the “wisdom” of conventional medical practices. It’s time for us to turn away from the widespread propaganda that accompanies the promotion of HRT as the solution to all our problems. Indiscriminate doling out of potent drug-based hormones can undermine a woman’s fertility as well as trigger the development of her menstrual agonies—from PMS and endometriosis to cancer of the breast and womb. The current attempt to make every woman a “patient” for the rest of her life by subjecting her body to long-term HRT is also a way of diminishing her personal power and undermining her control over her own body. Conventional HRT is most certainly not the answer. I believe passionately that it’s time for a radical overhaul in how we handle women’s issues. There are safer, better, more effective ways. As celebrated expert in the natural treatment of peri-menopause and menopause, Dr Jonathan Wright, Medical Director of Tahoma Clinic in Washington—a long-time advocate of bio-identical, that is natural hormones—says, “Replacing estrogen that your body is no longer producing with the synthetic versions found in conventional HRT is like replacing parts designed for a Chevy with those made for a Mercedes.” More about thes alternatives in a moment. Meanwhile, let me share with you a couple of scientific studies carried out in the last 15 years which show just how potentially dangerous and ineffective conventionally prescribed HRT can be: In 2002, researchers called a halt to a huge government- run study involving 16,000 women on HRT under the Women’s Health Initiative. Researchers found that long-term use of synthetic estrogen and progestin significantly increased women’s danger of stroke, blood clots, heart attack, invasive breast cancer and stroke. Then the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published another study, showing that women who take a combination of synthetic estrogen and progestin are also at high risk of getting a highly aggressive form of breast cancer. Other studies have revealed that HRT can increase your risk of Alzheimer’s, dementia and asthma. More new research indicates that combined synthetic estrogen-progestin HRT increases your risk of severe forms of breast cancer as well as your chances of dying, from the disease as well as other causes. Let’s look at the alternatives. There are many. Bio-identical hormones—commonly known as “natural” hormones—do a far safer, more effective job of helping most women handle the challenges they face. This is a truth now well supported by scientific research. Starting Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

06:41
I have been resistant to medical solutions. I went through menopause without assistance. I belief in natural methods first and foremost. I healed myself from many physical challenges and I wanted to get feedback by having blood work done. I found an MD/Naturopath and I was surprised by the results. I had almost no hormone, some of my antioxidants and nutrients were low in spite of an exemplary diet. I also tested peri osteoporosis. According to the MD, this was due to the lack of hormones. He said that it could be corrected with the hormone therapy. I have been experiencing tiredness more than I feel I should be. I am excited to begin the journey and I look forward to renewed energy. The pellet therapy makes sense to me, sense it is being delivered consistently. It seems that the body takes it as it needs it. Amazing that it senses it's presence and regulates the uptake. I will keep you posted as to my progress. http://www.wholelifesciences.com http://www.tammyallen.com http://www.2050club.com

Bio identical Hormone therapy with Pellets: Is it right for you?

04:32
Mood swings, anxiety, lack of sleep, fatigue and the blahs got you down? Often times we feel these vague symptoms and blame them on stress and busy lives, taking its toll on relationships of all kinds. What if the culprit was hormone imbalance? Chandra shares her personal story of struggling with hormonal imbalance and how Hormone Pellet Therapy gave her control of her life again. When your hormones are out of balance it can make everyday stress feel that much bigger & overwhelming. Hormone imbalance for women can start in your 30's and cause a variety of symptoms, such as, mood swings, anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, weight gain, and much more. Testosterone plays an important role not only for men but women too. the inner core of the female ovary makes testosterone, and our ovaries age from the inside out, if you will. We start to loose testosterone as early as our 30's at a rate of about 50% decrease production per year. By the time we hit our 40's our well is pretty dry in that area- causing all kinds of symptoms like the ones named above, plus low libido, memory loss, extreme fatigue and a host of others. We loose testosterone 10-20 years before menopause, this is key for women to understand- those symptoms are real, and can be completely reversed in the majority of cases. Side Effects Of Bioidentical Hormones | LifeXMD

02:43
http://www.lifexmd.com Dr. Stephen Graham MD discusses the side effects of hormone treatment for men and women. An Important question we are often asked about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy or BHRT, is "What are the side effects?" It is important to know that when we optimize someone's hormones, we keep them within the normal range. We do not go above the normal range like bodybuilders or other people who might tend to abuse. Our goal is to improve a person's health, well being, enjoyment of life, and life span and not to do anything other than that. When used in higher than normal doses, and very rarely for some people even within the normal range, some of the old thoughts were that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy might cause cancer of the prostate for men. That's very old data. Now, virtually everyone accepts the fact that it does not cause it, but is only "possible" but not likely, that when a man already has pre-existing prostate cancer, that bhrt can accelerate it. This is why we do relatively specific testing before placing a man on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. In women, it was believed that hormone replacement with estrogen and progesterone may cause cancers in women. The findings were based on testing with "synthetic" hormones and not bioidentical hormones which mimic the bodies natural hormones. It is now being shown that with bioidentical hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone, that the negative effects seen with synthetic hormones are not present. So the risks of cancer that was once thought to be a side effect of hormone replacement therapy is greatly diminished, and we take precautions to ensure this is the case. Women will need to have pap smears and mammograms regularly to determine risk factors. Dr Graham is an expert in bioidentical hormone replacement and is a supervising physician at LifeXMD's Scottsdale office located at 10613 N Hayden Rd Ste J-102, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480) 696-5563 for more information on menopause, low testosterone treatments, and hormone optimization therapy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EgzQziV7cQ

Sacred Truth Ep. 76: Bio-identical Hormone Secrets

08:46
For those of you who have already seen our first five videos on bio-identical hormones I think it's time to deal with some frequently asked questions as well as help you refresh your memory about the nature of bio-identical hormones. They are so very different from synthetic drugs, which can damage your body. So let me explain by answering a few simple questions. Well-known examples of bio-identical hormones like estrogen, progesterone, pregnenolone, DHEA, melatonin, and testosterone can be obtained from a compounding pharmacy provided you have a prescription from your doctor. The rules and regulations governing bio-identical hormones vary dramatically from one country to another. In the United States a number of bio-identical hormones are sold over the counter. This does not mean that they are the best. It is far better to locate a good quality pharmaceutical compounding company in whatever country you're in, such as United States, Great Britain, New Zealand, or Australia and, with your doctor’s help, order them direct from the compounding company.   A good compounding pharmacy can make medications to suit your individual needs in a safe and correct way—in capsule form, cream, gel, oil, pessary, or even in the form of a suppository—whichever your doctor decides is right for you.   Another question that I am often asked is: Can bio-identical hormones be beneficial for men? The answer is an unequivocal yes. There are many symptoms that can be relieved or resolved for men by using carefully selected bio-identical hormones. These include disturbed sleep, muscle weakness, irritability, poor concentration, memory lapses, erectile dysfunction, reduced sex drive, and depression.   As a reminder, bio-identical hormones are chemically identical to the hormones that are produced in the glands of your own body. They bear no resemblance to synthetic hormones, which in truth are not hormones at all but drugs, such as those used in HRT. Your body's cells are incapable of making good use of synthetics. This is a major reason why so many dangerous side effects can be experienced from using these pharmaceutical synthetic drugs.   Where do bio-identical hormones come from? Most are made from diosgenin taken from wild yam. Our bodies can't obtain these hormones directly from these plants, so diosgenin is synthesized in the laboratory into the chemically identical equivalent of whatever hormone is being made.   Another question I am often asked is: If I have a hysterectomy does that mean that I may still need bio-identical hormones? The answer to this question is yes: You see, hormone receptors are found in many areas all over your body, not just in the uterus, breasts, and bones. Your body still needs adequate hormones to function properly.   Okay, here's some other stuff that you need to remember about the complete hormonal picture:   Bio-identical progesterone, which has the same molecular structure as the hormones that your body produces naturally, is a long way from “progestin” synthetic drugs commonly prescribed by mainstream medicine. Progesterone—the natural hormone—has shown itself beneficially able to protect your body from arteriosclerosis, help maintain healthy HDL levels, decrease the risk of blood clots, and improve cardiovascular health all round.   There are three major types of estrogen produced naturally in a woman's body. These are estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3). Estriol is well known to promote youthful skin, improve sexual function, enhance urinary health, and improve bone density. Estriol is also highly effective in the treatment of menopausal symptoms. Progesterone (the real thing) balances and complements estriol in its bio-identical form. One study showed that this combination substantially improved how much time women with a history of heart attack or coronary heart disease were able to work out on the treadmill before blood flow to the heart was reduced. Progesterone—the real thing—plays a major role in relieving menopausal symptoms. The beneficial effects of bio-identical progesterone compared to progestin drugs include a 50% reduction in anxiety, a 60% reduction in depression, a 30% reduction in sleep problems, a 25% reduction in menstrual bleeding, and a 40% reduction in cognitive problems as well as a 30% improvement in sexual function. In four studies 80% of women reported overall satisfaction with bio-identical progesterone formulation.
