Apple Cider Vinegar can heal your dog or cat
Apple cider vinegar saved my pet, Sasha. This simple home remedy does wonders for cats and dogs. It cures stomach problems including runny stool, vomiting and urinary tract infections common among house pets. It also curbs those pesky hair balls and unnecessary vomiting. It does wonders with their immune system and their respiratory system, and aids their digestive track. It's also good for urinary tract infections or prevents crystals from forming in the urine, and it gets rid of those brown tear stains. In fact, it helped my cat who was near death get back on track. I really love this stuff. Less is more so please don't give your cat more than a recommended dose of 1/4 tsp diluted in 8 ozs. of water. They trust you, so don't hurt them. My cat, Sasha, had been sick for 3 weeks straight before I stumbled on this information. It really, really works. I thank God for it because I'm not sure if my cat would have survived. He lost a lot of weight while he was sick. He weighs 20 pounds and it was noticeable. Now, he's gained 80 percent of his weight back and he's not sick anymore. He got sick because I changed to high quality cat food, but he was too old to adjust to the change, so I had to switch him back. He is happy as a little clam now. He's birthday is in December. He will be 15 years old -- that's a major milestone for any cat. Sasha has since gone on to heaven, but he was 17 years old when he passed, and he had a fabulous quality of life before he passed. So, I could be the poster child for this stuff. How I Cured My Dog's Bacterial Skin Infection
My golden retriever spends a lot of time in water, and as a result she sometimes gets bacterial skin infections on her belly. I at first tried all kinds of creams and sprays to get rid of it, and then I tried hydrogen peroxide and it worked like a charm. I spray the area several times a day and within three or four days it looks much better. I then continue to spray once a day or so until it is completely gone.

Veterinary Bronchoscopy#463, Dynamic Laryngeal Narrowing on Expiration, Australian Shepherd 11y M
A 11-year-old, 19.40-kg, female Australian Sheppard was admitted for difficulty in sleeping due to persistent panting in summer. She could sleep once she was cooled by winds. This sign had been evident for the last three years. On admission, she had no stridor. Arterial blood gas analysis showed acute hyperventilation (Paco2 21 mmHg). CBC and biochemistory profile, skull and chest X-rays, and fluoroscopy revealed unremarkable. Laryngoscopy via LMA under light plane of general anesthesia by administering thiopental 5mg/kg IV revealed that regular constriction of rima glottidis on expiration, abduction of arytenoid cartilage. Anterior rhinoscopy disclosed no obstructive lesions. Tracheobronchoscopy via LMA revealed unremarkable, including BALF cytology. The dog was diagnosed with abnormal laryngeal movement. The pathophysiology remains to be unclear at this time. “Dynamic laryngeal narrowing on expiration “ was called for the time being, such as #459. It is considered that persistent panting occurred from hyperthermia, which derived from such a obstructive laryngeal disease. She was tried to be prescribed with nebulizer therapy including bronchodilator drugs to relax the intrinsic laryngeal muscles, though it is not unknown to be effective.

10 Prescription Drugs that You Should Know have Serious Side Effects | Top 10 Home Remedies
When consulting a doctor because of illness or other health concerns, it stands to reason that you follow the doctor’s advice and take whatever medicine you are given. It’s what most of us do. But do you know that many prescribed drugs can do more harm than good to your body?In fact, prescription drugs are one of the leading causes of death in the world. This might be news for many, but this is reality. The pharmaceutical industry and prescription drugs have their place in our medically advanced society. It is not possible to treat sickness with a prescribed pill, without dealing with the root cause behind the problem. This is one reason why prescribed drugs are causing some serious side effects, compelling doctors to prescribe more pills to deal with those side effects. It is important to carefully analyze the pros and cons of prescription drugs before making a decision of whether to take them. Here are 10 highly dangerous prescription drugs you should know about. 1. Methotrexate and Other Chemotherapeutic AgentsAnother prescribed drug that can be harmful is methotrexate as well as other chemotherapeutic agents. This drug is used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat different types of cancer, such as breast, head and neck, lung, blood, bone, lymphoma and uterine cancers. Methotrexate is also prescribed by many rheumatologists and other practitioners to treat rheumatoid arthritis. This drug comes as a solution for intravenous (IV) injection, which needs to be injected into a vein. It is also available as an oral tablet. The most common side effects of this drug include mouth sores, nausea, fever, dizziness, stomach pain, tiredness, chills and an increased risk of infections. When taken along with other drugs and for longer durations, methotrexate can cause serious, life-threatening side effects. These serious side effects include bleeding as well as liver, kidney and bone marrow damage. During such a situation, you may suffer from vomit that contains blood, black tarry stools, unusual vaginal bleeding, yellowing of the skin, urinary problems, blisters on the skin, peeling skin and extreme muscle weakness, to name a few.2. AntibioticsAntibiotics are a popular class of prescribed drugs that often restore health and even save lives.Antibiotics are helpful in treating infections caused by bacteria, such as some forms of bronchitis, pneumonia and urinary tract infections. Antibiotics work by killing the bacteria or stopping them from growing and multiplying. But overuse as well as misuse of these drugs can cause long-term health problems. In fact, antibiotics are inappropriately prescribed for conditions that do not even respond to them. Long-term use of such drugs has made many infections more virulent and untreatable. Some of the most harmful antibiotics that are commonly prescribed are Levaquin (levofloxacin), Vancocin (vancomycin hydrochloride), Bactrim (trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole), Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Avelox (moxifloxacin HCL)

Tons of motile granules after Bactrim, Flagyl & Plaquenil
After a one day only but strong treatment of Bactrim + Flagyl + Plaquenil (got a very strong Herx and liver problems with vertigos, i had to stop). Slide is 12 h old. Same reagent as usual, Acridine Orange based, slightly acid, sweet and salty. Speed is X4 in the beginning, then at the end it is real time. Compared to my previous videos, it seems that there are almost only granules, but tons of them, as if all the borrelian cells were completely disorganized and splitted, unable to form bigger forms, and the few bigger forms we can see look very slow compared to previous videos. I conclude in my case that this drugs combo could be efficient. I will try again later, with a lower dosage.

Abscess (Boil) next to the carotid artery, ER drainage procedure - DrER.tv
this patient had a slow growth of an abscess (boil, cyst, risin) over the last 2 weeks, but over the last 2 days became much worse. The location is very scary as the carotid artery is very close. In this video we show the drainage and discuss why is this abscess different (at least in location) from others that we have done. The procedure proved to be more successful than I would have thought initially. Then the abscess itself was irrigated and NOT packed. I do NOT routinely pack abscess anymore as they increase pain, and decrease healing. We did culture this abscess and treated the patient with Bactrim DS (double dose for at least 1 week). Pain medicines were given to be used as needed for pain.

ß-Lactams: Mechanisms of Action and Resistance
Developed and produced by http://www.MechanismsinMedicine.com Animation Description: This animation starts with the explanation of bacterial cell wall synthesis, the process targeted by ß-Lactams. Structurally, most bacteria consist of a cell membrane surrounded by a cell wall and, for some bacteria, an additional outer layer. Internal to the cell membrane is the cytoplasm which contains ribosomes, a nuclear region and in some cases granules and/or vesicles. Depending on the bacterial species, a number of different external structures may be found such as a capsule, flagella and pili. In gram negative bacteria, the gap between the cell membrane and the cell wall is known as the periplasmic space. Most gram positive bacteria do not possess a periplasmic space but have only periplasm where metabolic digestion occurs and new cell peptidoglycan is attached. Peptidoglycan, the most important component of the cell wall, is a polymer made of N-acetyl muramic acid alternating with N-acetyl glucosamine which are cross-linked by chains of four amino acids. The function of the bacterial cell wall is to maintain the characteristic shape of the organism and to prevent the bacterium from bursting when fluid flows into the organism by osmosis. Synthesis of peptidoglycan and ultimately the bacterial cell wall occurs in a number of stages. One of the first stages is the addition of 5 amino acids to N-acetyl muramic acid. Next, N-acetyl glucosamine is added to the N-acetyl muramic acid to form a precursor of peptidoglycan. This peptidoglycan precursor is then transported across the cell membrane to a cell wall acceptor in the periplasm. Once in the periplasm, the peptidoglycan precursors bind to cell wall acceptors, and undergo extensive crosslinking. Two major enzymes are involved in crosslinking: transpeptidase and D-alanyl carboxypeptidase. These enzymes are also known as penicillin binding proteins because of their ability to bind penicillins and cephalosporins. Eventually, several layers of peptidoglycan are formed all of which are crosslinked to create the cell wall. Gram positive bacteria have many more layers than gram negative bacteria and thus have a much thicker cell wall. Beta-lactam antibiotics include all penicillins and cephalosporins that contain a chemical structure called a beta-lactam ring. This structure is capable of binding to the enzymes that cross-link peptidoglycans. Beta-lactams interfere with cross-linking by binding to transpeptidase and D-alanyl carboxypeptidase enzymes, thus preventing bacterial cell wall synthesis. By inhibiting cell wall synthesis, the bacterial cell is damaged. Gram positive bacteria have a high internal osmotic pressure. Without a normal, rigid cell wall, these cells burst when subjected to the low osmotic pressure of their surrounding environment. As well, the antibiotic-penicillin binding protein complex stimulates the release of autolysins that are capable of digesting the existing cell wall. Beta-lactam antibiotics are therefore considered bactericidal agents. Bacterial resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics may be acquired by several routes. One of the most important mechanisms is through a process known as transformation. During transformation, chromosomal genes are transferred from one bacterium to another. When a bacterium containing a resistance gene dies, naked DNA is released into the surrounding environment. If a bacterium of sufficient similarity to the dead one is in the vicinity, it will be able to uptake the naked DNA containing the resistance gene. Once inside the bacterium, the resistance gene may be transferred from the naked DNA to the chromosome of the host bacteria by a process known as homologous transformation. Over time, the bacterium may acquire enough of these resistance genes to result in a remodelling of the segment of the host DNA. If this remodelled DNA segment codes for cross-linking enzymes (i.e. penicillin binding proteins), the result is the production of altered penicillin binding proteins. These altered penicillin binding proteins can still cross-link the peptidoglycan layers of the cell wall but have a reduced affinity for beta-lactam antibiotics thus rendering the bacterium resistant to the effects of penicillin and other beta-lactam agents. This transfer process has resulted in penicillin-resistant S. pneumoniae through the acquisition of genes from other naturally occurring penicillin-resistant Streptococcus species. A second important mechanism by which bacteria become resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics is by the production of enzymes capable of inactivating or modifying the drug before it has a chance to exert its effect on the bacteria. Highlights, lowlights and hives!
Hi guys!! Just had a trim and highlights and lowlights. Still looks the same to me, except the brown is a darker brown (she goofed up, again). I'm also having an allergic reaction to Bactrim, having been in the middle of my 2nd round of it because the first round started working but stopped when I quit after the 10 days. Over the weekend I went through the whole range of adverse side effects from it. Everything from sore throat, still neck, swollen glands, conjunctivitis, ached all over, chills, and at 1:30 this morning I woke up itching all over with hives. Needless to say, I stopped taking the Bactrim. Still made it to my hair appt. this afternoon. I just sent hubby to the store to get some Benadryl to quell the itching for the hives. I'm covered and they're spreading as we speak. lol No more trying to self diagnose myself and take old prescriptions we have laying around in the cabinet. Hope everyone is having a great week so far and I'll be back tomorrow to make a video. Let me know in the comments below what you want to see. Goodnight everyone! Hugs, xox Colleen

But if you’re stuck with the old-fashioned, bad-tasting kind, here’s how to make the medicine go down. Step 1: Measure out medicine Have the correct measured dose of medicine ready in an eyedropper or medicine syringe. Tip Some bunny owners like to coat the filled eyedropper or syringe with mashed banana or applesauce once it’s filled. This means a nice taste for the bunny—on the outside of the syringe, at least! Step 2: Prepare after-medication treat Stash an after-medication treat, like a raisin or a small piece of apple, in a convenient spot so you can get to it as soon as you’re done. Tip Many pet medications must be shaken before they’re used. Check the label on the bottle to be sure. Step 3: Arrange your seat Arrange your chair, bench, or stool in the place you plan to dose Bun-bun. Tip Since you’ll probably need to give your rabbit her medicine over the course of several days, leave the chair in place so she won’t get suspicious every time she sees you setting up. Step 4: Pick up rabbit Pick up the bunny as calmly as you can, speaking soothingly while you do. Wrap her tightly in the towel—think 'bunny burrito'—so that she can’t get her legs free to kick or scramble around. Step 5: Take a seat Take a seat, both of you! Sit down on the chair, stool, or bench with the bunny held firmly on your lap. Step 6: Hold rabbit firmly Tucking the rabbit firmly under one arm, hold her against your body. If you’re right-handed, use your left arm. If you’re left-handed, use your right arm. Step 7: Grip rabbit’s head With the hand that’s holding the bunny, grip her head. Use your thumb to pry her lips open. Keep holding her against your body so she won’t be able to back away from the medicine. Tip Continue speaking soothingly throughout the procedure. At least it may help calm you down. Step 8: Insert eyedropper or syringe in rabbit’s mouth Still, gripping the bunny’s head and holding open her lips, use your other hand to slide the filled eyedropper or syringe into her mouth. Always slide it in from the side, where a rabbit’s teeth won’t get in the way. Step 9: Squirt medicine Squirt the medicine as far back into the bunny’s throat as you can. Hold her mouth closed for a few seconds. Step 10: Expose treat Show the rabbit her treat before you place her carefully on the floor and remove the towel. If she’s too mad to stick around, leave the treat on the floor—she’ll come back for it. Step 11: Take heart It would be great if rabbits knew you were doing this all for their own good, but take heart. The treatments will soon be over, and after a few days your bunny won’t remember what you put her through. Did You Know? A five-pound rabbit drinks as much water as a twenty-pound dog.
