Lessons on Lascaux - Lesson Plan

03:45
Combine art and history in this project that uses contemporary powdered tempera to imitate the naturalistic look of ancient cave art. This art form was made famous in 1940 when Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating as far back as 40,000 years were uncovered in the Lascaux Caves of France. The tempera powder combines with flour to create a paste that can be easily incised with various tools, and when dry, it will crackle to represent the three dimensional look and feel of the cave wall. Art Smarts: After School Art Lessons

03:19
http://www.artsmarts.net http://www.lamesatoday.com/profiles/blogs/arts-in-the-schools Art Smarts offers after school art lessons to kids. Children are encouraged to try new avenues of creativity by using several different drawing and painting techniques, mediums and subject matters. We help them to expand their horizons for their future successes in life by demonstrating to them how many different kinds of artists make their living through various art projects we provide. Mission Statement Our mission is to provide quality art instruction to children after school that goes above and beyond the expectations of both children, their parents, and respective principals or supervisors in the facilities where the art instruction is taking place. Our goal is to provide a positive uplifting environment of creativity, raising children's self-esteem through encouragement. The "Wow Factor" is an important element to Art Smarts, helping to keep art projects fresh, interests peaked and motivating students. Lesson Plans and Art Mediums Art Smarts has several lesson plans which if never repeated, can go on for approximately 4 years. This way the student can continually learn different things in art. There are several lessons pertaining to animals, from birds and reptiles to wild animals and even cats and dogs. which is always a favorite. Art Smarts has a wide variety of lesson plans including landscapes, seascapes, portraiture, still life, design and even abstract painting. We also teach some cartooning as well as Manga, Japanese wide eyed cartooning, a favorite in the Middle Schools. We draw and paint using all sorts of mediums. Colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, aqua crayons, and watercolor pencils are some of the many explored mediums. We may use colored paper, canvas boards, watercolor paper and even show them how to recycle brown paper bags into faux animal hides. Whatever the lesson, the kids just love to take art classes with Art Smarts. Art Smarts teaches art in several schools, both elementary and middle, ages from 5 - 12. How Art Smarts started I was born and raised in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. After receiving a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art, I furthered my education at the San Francisco Art Institute and also San Diego City College. When our children reached school age, I was the Art Docent Coordinator at their school, Murray Manor Elementary, for 10 years. That's where I discovered the need for art to be put back into the schools and where Art Smarts began its first after school program. Penelope Quirk President of Art Smarts, Inc. P.O. Art Lessons for Kids: Texture Leaf Rubbing--Tribute to Andy Warhol

The next lesson for the year involved a rubbing plate that featured various leaf patterns. The inspiration for the piece came from Andy Warhol and his 'Marilyn Monroe' pieces. FYI: There were a couple of days during this week that I had to attend a meeting, so I shot this video from that point of view. Printmaking using Plaster of Paris -- No press or paper required!

05:55
Leave a comment or question down below, I'd love to hear what you think! Don't forget to subscribe to keep up with new projects. This video demos how I make a plaster print using a copper plate mezzotint, ink, and plaster. I've come across this method over the years in various articles and word of mouth, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try! This works with linocuts, etchings, aquatint, or even woodcuts (if you seal the wood first), and requires no press, Barens, or even paper! I'd test it out on an old plate before trying it on something you care about, in case it does not work out how you'd expect or damages the printing matrix. Materials I used in this project: Printing matrix (mezzotint plate in this case) Plaster of Paris Plexiglass sheet (as base of mold) -- any smooth plastic should work... Wire meshing Plastic drop cloth Bucket to mix plaster Dust mask Gloves ½" tall wood strips glue gun nails/hammer picture hanging wire printing ink I used a mezzotint plate for the image, if you'd like to see a video about that, I have one here...Mezzotint basics video: http://youtu.be/rpbt6tjjjZE For last weeks video: "Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics" - http://youtu.be/NEyLCoxCH4I ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ▼SUBSCRIBE! https://www.youtube.com/user/diodepre... ▼Want to support Diode Press? My brushes are not expensive to purchase, they cost around $1-4 USD, some prices may vary on the different brushes used duo to special use of each brush. Remember that with each brush you use you will have a different experience and a range of different feeling. The important thing is that you and the brush work as one to find the balance between creation and skill. The artist's hand is very important in making the painting and to feel the way the water on the brush moves as the brush creates the ultimate master piece. ❖Improve your painting skills Sometimes people ask me that they've been painting for months, but they think nothing improved. - Well, I want to say that I have been painted for 15 years and I enjoy my painting every moment. If you enjoy your painting, that is the right way to go forward. Don't be hurry. You just need time. Now you keep improving your painting skill. ❖ Contacts IG, FB: @jayartpainting @jayartfamily E-mail : tkstoryman@hotmail.com ( If you have any questions please feel free to contact me ) ........................................................

Construct a high-relief horse using quick mâché and found objects! Deborah Butterfield, a noted American sculptor, first gained wide recognition in the late 1970s. Horses have been the single, sustained focus of Butterfield's work for more than 30 years. When she first began working, Butterfield sculpted her horses in a realistic style using plaster.
