Metformin: Diabetes worst enemy
Part 2: Defending metformin (from the haters) http://youtu.be/oH_6yW_YKLA Please watch my Glycemic index video as a supplement to this http://youtu.be/wGBqEojeEDE Metformin is often times the first diabetic drug I use in new diabetics. It is inexpensive, can be used with many other diabetic drugs in combination, it can cause weight loss and has been shown to decrease cardiovascular risk and even pancreatic cancer. It can be used safely in non-diabetics, and pre-diabetics. It can cause GI side effects, so when I start someone on it, I usually give them 1000mg pills, and the goal is to take 1000mg twice a day. Start with 1/2 pill once a day at dinner, in one week, Take 1/2 pill twice a day with food, in another week, take 1/2 pill in the morning and one at dinner, Finally advance to 1 pill twice a day. Some people cannot tolerate the full dose, and have to take somewhat less of a dose. Switching to the ER version can be helpful. If you eat lots of carbs, you will have more side effects. Limiting carbs, helps to tolerate it better AND can help you to lose more weight.

Abilify Drug Lawsuits
Visit: https://www.thehigginsfirm.com/defective-and-potentially-dangerous-drugs.html Female: An extremely popular drug on the market called Abilify. Now, it’s one of the bestselling drugs on the market. Last year’s sales reached in estimated $6 billion worldwide. It treat a number of psychological problems, including depression, bipolar disorder, and even autism. But, now, there are lawsuits coming out about the dangerous side effects that come with this drug. We got Atty. Jim Higgins from The Higgins Firm joining us to tell us more about the drug and the lawsuits. So, what are these side effects, Jim? Jim Higgins: This one is different, right? Female: OK. Jim Higgins: So, a lot of times when we deal with medical products in our office, it may be, you know, a hip that fails too early or IVC filters we’ve talked about where they call it blood clots. Female: Right. Jim Higgins: This is a psychological component and it - and the claims are that Abilify can cause compulsive behavior. In particular, compulsive gambling, right? Female: Yes, I mean - well, hold on a second, because we were talking about this and I said, “This kind of sounds like maybe somebody went and lost all of their money and now they’re blaming it on the drug. Jim Higgins: Right. Female: But, you said there’s a reason for this like... Jim Higgins: Well, you know, it’s a reason that medical professionals and scientists explained as far as how it works on the brain, the components. But, I will tell you, you know, our office kind of have that same skepticism and still we started looking at these cases. And, I think the case, the original one started was out of Philadelphia. And, what happened is this one person filed a lawsuit, I think, everybody probably rolled their eyes on it, and then more and more people caught - started coming forth. And, again, you know, a family would say, “Well, my husband,” or, “Wife just gone crazy, they need to control themselves.” But, really, the cases that we’re looking at, it’s somebody who never had a problem like this before. They started taking this drug and they truly cannot control themselves and they lose their house, their spouses, their car. I mean, it’s family destroyer and they can’t understand why they can’t control this behavior. Female: And, it’s happening multiple times now. We’re seeing this in different people. It’s not just in isolated case like you said, it’s in multiple places. Jim Higgins: That’s right and that’s when you started saying, “Hey, maybe there’s something more to this.” Female: OK. Oh, my God. It’s so straight. I mean, of all the side effects, you know, you hear the long list at the end... Jim Higgins: Right. Female: ...that one is not mentioned. Jim Higgins: Not mentioned, so it will be interesting. Female: Yes. Jim Higgins: This will start - there’s a few hundred cases going out now. We’re reviewing some cases. You know, that’s the thing that, you know, we don’t file lawsuits just to file them. Female: Right. Jim Higgins: So, I want to make sure that we meet with people. You know, we’re going to look at how long they’ve taken this, what was their behavior like before, what’s their behavior like after, and I always talk to family members and say... Female: Right. Jim Higgins: ...“You tell me, is this different?” You know, what - this is something that you just can’t explain and then through their - when we’re able to show much they’ve lost and then we’ll try to file a lawsuit and get some of that back. Female: Very interesting. Jim Higgins at The Higgins Firm. Everybody, it’s 1800-705-2121. You can also go to higginsfirm.com and thank you to all of the people who are working with you today, because they’re serving at the mission. Jim Higgins: Yes, (skipping their line)[00:02:52], serving at the mission. Female: That was so cool. Jim Higgins: I thought that was very nice. I mean, I’m trying to run out here and help them clean up. Female: You work with good people... Januvia Linked to Pancreatitis, Pancreatic Cancer
The diabetes drug Januvia has become another in a series of similar medications that are now drawing scrutiny for cancer-related side effects. Januvia - which was also sold in a combination pill with metformin under the name Janumet - is part of a class of diabetes drugs known as DDP-4 inhibitors, which help patients with Type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. The drug - which works by affecting different cells in the pancreas - first came on the market in late 2006. However, after that release, the FDA received dozens of reports of pancreatitis from patients who were using Januvia. For many, their symptoms were later resolved once they stopped taking the drug. In late 2009, the FDA revised the Januvia warning label, including information regarding the potential for pancreatitis. Multiple studies have since shown that those taking the drug may have an elevated risk of both pancreatitis and pancreatic cancers.

How to Sue Drug Companies for Free
Defective drug legislation is big right now. Pharma is rapidly becoming the next big tobacco but on a much grander scale. Class action lawsuits with 10,000s of victims are lashing out against drug firms while even State governments level more lawsuits against them. Law firms are suing pharmaceutical companies for unethical marketing practices, a failure to warn the public about potentially harmful and sometimes deadly side effects when they were known about prior to marketing, downplaying side effects while hyping up benefits, etc. If you have been damaged by a medication you can potentially sue and in most cases lawyers will take your case for free. Some drugs that are listed on law office websites as defective drugs include; Vioxx, Bextra, Celebrex, Crestor, Baycol, Viagra, Cialis, Risperdal, Seroguel, Zyprexa, Adderall, Ritalin, Neurotin, Paxil, Prozac, Ambien, Zoloft. Some defective drugs have been associated with death, suicide, homicide, neurological damage, heart attacks, diabetes, excessive weight gain, sexual dysfunction, impertinency, vision loss and a host of other side effects. Virtually every psychotropic (psychiatric) drug is listed on some defective drug website including antidepressants, antipsychotic, anti-anxiety medications (anxiolytics), etc. Drug companies that are being sued include Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, Janssen, Abbott, Novartis, Wyeth, etc. You can get a free legal consultations just by doing a search with the drug name and the world lawyer. #Psychetruth #WellnessPlus

Popular Diabetes Medication Linked to Kidney Failure
According to latest data from the Centers for Disease Control, more than 29-million Americans suffer from diabetes, and nearly one of four people with the disease aren't even aware that they have it. Even worse, as many as 86-million Americans currently suffer from pre-diabetes, and if preemptive measures aren't taken they too will be diagnosed with full-blown diabetes in a matter of years. With so many people suffering from both type one and type two diabetes, Big Pharma saw an opportunity to make a huge profit. In the rush to cash in on the diabetic epidemic they cut corners. They created a product that's causing as much harm, if not more, than the actual disease itself. That product is called Invokana. Mike Papantonio discusses this with attorney Tim O'Brien. Onlgyza Lawsuit
Patients who used Onglyza to control their diabetes are filing lawsuits after experiencing heart failure and pancreatic cancer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently placed a new warning label on this medication; this comes after countless people became injured and were never made aware of the life-altering side effects. Pharmaceutical companies who manufacture Onglyza such as AstraZeneca or Bristol-Myers Squibb often make millions by marketing dangerous drugs that have never been tested properly. Saxagliptin reached $786 million in sales in 2015, an outstanding amount of money that can reach up to $2.47 billion in 2018 according to market analysts [10]. What is Onglyza? Onglyza (saxagliptin) is an oral anti-diabetic drug manufactured by AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb that was approved by the FDA in 2009 [1]. Kombiglyze XR is a combination of saxagliptin and metformin HCl (extended-release) and was approved in 2010 [2]. Both these drugs are used to help control hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) in people affected by type 2 diabetes, and may be used in combination with other oral hypoglycemic drugs such as sulphonylureas. Hagens Berman Files Class-Action Lawsuit vs. Insulin Manufacturers for Drug Price Inflation Scheme
More & Sign up: https://www.hbsslaw.com/insulin People living with diabetes have filed a groundbreaking class-action lawsuit against the three makers of analog insulin drug products – Sanofi, Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly – for exponentially raising consumer insulin prices in an organized scheme to drive up prices at the expense of patients who need insulin drugs to live, according to Hagens Berman. The lawsuit states that in the last five years alone, Sanofi, Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly have raised the sticker or “benchmark” prices on their drugs by more than 150 percent. Some plaintiffs now pay almost $900 dollars per month just to obtain the drugs they need, according to the firm. This first-of-its-kind lawsuit details several accounts from patients resorting to extreme measures to survive rising insulin prices, including starving themselves to control their blood sugars, under-dosing their insulin, and taking expired insulin. Other class members have intentionally allowed themselves to slip into diabetic ketoacidosis – a potentially fatal blood syndrome caused by lack of insulin in the body – so that they can obtain insulin samples from hospital emergency rooms.

Jim Higgins Explains The Lawsuit Against Diabetes Drug Januvia
Visit: https://www.thehigginsfirm.com/defective-and-potentially-dangerous-drugs.html Kacy Hagerty: Well, a Tennessee couple recently filed a lawsuit against the diabetes drug, Januvia, and lawsuits against that medication in a different diabetes drug have been on the rise. Attorney Jim Higgins with The Higgins Firms recently stopped by to explain what's going on. Jim, welcome back to the show. Jim Higgins: Thank you. Kacy Hagerty: All right. Let's talk a little bit about these allegations in these lawsuits. What happened here? Jim Higgins: This is a drug, product drug case, Januvia. It's a type 2 diabetes drug that’s used to use to help control blood sugar levels and it's been prescribed for – for a while. And, you know, type 2 diabetes is a big problem in the world. I think there's 350 million people that suffer from it. And there has been a link to this drug based upon – first came in a German study that it may cause pancreatic cancer. And so, there's been several lawsuits that had been – has been filed. There's been a couple here recently in Tennessee. It's probably maybe getting close to a hundred, last I checked, that – that have been filed alleging that this drug causes or may cause pancreatic cancer and that is just a risk that – that should not happen for people. Kacy Hagerty: Exactly. So how many lawsuits have actually gone to trial? You said about a hundred where out there but how many have gone to trial? Jim Higgins: Right. None yet. You know, and that’s what happens when we talk about these cases. What – the first thing that starts happening in any drug recall case that we see is we start seeing studies and there's always a conflict. And then people who believe that they were harmed by the drug, they’ll file the lawsuit. They get all bunched together. And then what we call a discovery process starts. And that's where these are. What happened? What do your studies show? Did you give a warning that this may happen? Why didn't you give a warning? You know, there's going to be depositions and testimony and documents reviewed. So, it's really kind of at the beginning of where this litigation is headed. Kacy Hagerty: It is quite a process. Now, if anyone out there actually has a cancer diagnosis and they're taking this drug what should they do? Jim Higgins: Well, I think, obviously, you know, like we say in any of our cases, you got to speak with your doctors. Sometimes, you know, and the cancer here that we've been looking at the cases is very specific. It's pancreatic cancer. So when you – you're going to speak with you doctor about it and, you know, you can speak to them on the front end if when they hear about this if they're taking Januvia or another drug and say, hey, do you feel this is OK with me? Are these – you know, talk to your doctor about this risk and you may be satisfied that the drug is safe for you. But if you do have that diagnosis, then you want make sure you maintain anything you've got. Records, medical prescriptions, everything and you want to – you should contact our office. We have people that can review the case, determine if there's something there and, you know, get the ball rolling if we need to. Kacy Hagerty: Definitely worth looking into. Jim, thanks. Jim Higgins: Thank you. Kacy Hagerty: The Higgins Firm is serving Tennessee. Give them a call at (615) 353-0930 or check them out at higginsfirm.com. Recent Lawsuit Filed Against Maker of Diabetic Drug Byetta
Many lawsuits have been filed against the maker of a Type II Diabetes drug, Byetta. I'm Attorney JoAnn Spinks Coleman and I am here to speak with you regarding a recent lawsuit that has been filed. 23 year old Elizabeth Childress filed a lawsuit in May of this year against drug makers Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly in federal court. She alleges that the companies failed to adequately warn her about type 2 diabetes drug Byetta's connection to thyroid cancer. Elizabeth Childress was prescribed Byetta in January 2007 to treat her type 2 diabetes, and continued to take it through August of that year, according to court documents. In May 2011 she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and attributes it to her use of Byetta, a drug that has been linked to both thyroid cancer and pancreatic cancer in women. Childress alleges that the drug makers were aware of the risks but did not notify patients of them. Many healthcare professionals believe that while Byetta's daily injection may stabilize blood sugar levels, the chemical action of Byetta may actually leave patients defenseless against certain cancers. There has been a recent increase in lawsuits from patients who took Byetta and developed pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer and pancreatitis. If you or someone you know has taken Byetta and are now suffering from any of these very serious medical conditions then you should seek legal advice immediately. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Metal on Metal Joint Replacement Surgery Complications - Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFGT3WD_Ndg -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
