It has other names such as ascorbic acid and has been called the most popular supplement in the world. It is essential because humans can not synthesize vitamin C and must obtain it from their diet. I'm just going to briefly summarize the things I think are worth knowing about vitamin C. Everything I'm going to say is evidence based with research to back it up. It is well known as a vitamin supplement taken to prevent the common cold. I looked up the data for this. A 2013 meta-analysis of 29 trials (n = 11,306) showed a small but significant 8 percent reduction in the duration of cold symptoms in adults regularly taking vitamin C supplements (at least 200 mg/day). In the general population it does not reduce the risk of developing a cold or getting sick. It does appear to have a protective effect in highly active individuals. In other words, the evidence is not strong that vitamin C is dramatically helpful in preventing or treating the common cold in most people. Vitamin C has not been shown to reduce the risk of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease or coronary heart disease, cataracts or macular degeneration SOURCES citric fruits, kiwi fruits, apples, vegetables, potatoes, leafy greens, and fortified cereals RECOMMENDED DAILY ALLOWANCE Males 90 mg/day Females 75 mg/day Should not exceed 2000 mg/day Vitamin C, also known as ascorbate, ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid. It is a well known antioxidant. It has been associated with the common cold (acute coryza, adenovirus), head cold, nasopharyngitis, rhinopharyngitis, rhinovirus, scurvy, URI or upper respiratory infection. It is used by bodybuilders and weight lifters as a recovery supplement, it may help boost the immune system, helps with collagen synthesis, muscle building.

Is it good to take your vitamins at night? It is good to take vitamins in general if you aren't getting enough nutrition from your diet. I heard that you should take them at night for better absorption. Yes, they'll sit in your stomach all night and digest. But the same is true during the day unless you pop a pill right before a marathon. Is there a bad time to take vitamins? For actual vitamins, there is no bad time. Don't take them without water, since the fluids help you break down and absorb the vitamins. I was told to take weight loss supplements in the morning, while others are best at night. Most weight loss supplements are just appetite suppressants or stimulants. If you take it at night, you won't sleep. Let's say it is a vitamin B pill. When should I take that? Whenever it doesn't make you look like you're popping too many pills. Though if you are taking appetite suppressants, taking vitamins at that time reduces the risk of malnutrition. I eat sensibly. Most people popping weight loss supplements are going to drink shakes or eat a frozen dinner at night, not nine servings of vegetables to get all the micronutrients they need. I heard that you don't want to take them all at once. True, because then your body has trouble absorbing them all. And you should check with your doctor on timing since some supplements could interfere with medication you are taking. I heard you shouldn't take vitamins in the morning due to poor absorption. That's only if you take them on an empty stomach, since your body will push it on through. Take vitamins with a small snack so your body stops to digest it. Someone said you have to take vitamin B or C with dinner. Those are water soluble vitamins. If you take it without any water or food, it is flushed out of your system. A fitness multi will act as "insurance" for your diet and ensure that all of your individual micronutrient needs are being fully met each day. Those following an intense training program have much higher vitamin and mineral needs than the average Joe, and being deficient in any single one could negatively affect you in a variety of ways. So, what is the very best bodybuilding multivitamin out there? The truth is that you do need to choose carefully here, as there are way more low quality multis lining the shelves than there are legitimately high quality ones. Most standard multis available (even those that tout themselves as being a "fitness multivitamin") are highly under-dosed and use very low quality versions of the various vitamins and minerals in order to save on costs. If a particular micronutrient is not present in a usable amount or in a form that your body can absorb, it will be completely useless to you and have no benefits at all. A simple solution for any man lacking sperm. 2) Take Zinc As mentioned above, Zinc was part of that study where sub fertile men boosted their sperm counts by 74%. In a study they did, men took 2 grams of L-Carnitine daily for three months and then took none for 3 more months.
