How to Restore Headlights PERMANENTLY
Headlight Restoration using Clear Coat. This video will show you how to clean and restore your headlights so they will never turn yellow or hazy again! You have seen videos on restoring headlights with bug spray, toothpaste, baking soda, and the kits you buy in the store, but all of these methods are temporary and eventually the haze and oxidation will come back. My method will first make the headlight clear by wet sanding and then put a UV coat on it to seal it in. Repair Automotive Paint Scratches With Spray Paint
http://scratchwizard.net/bumper_search/ STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS: 1. Clean: :01 - :27. First with soapy water or glass cleaner. Next with wax and grease remover. 2. Scuff: :27 - :45. With grey pad and firm pressure, scuff all paint surfaces within 24 inches of damage. Clean. 3. Sand. :45 - 1:31. Apply masking tape around scratches to prevent repair from 'growing.' Sand the damage with 220 grit sandpaper. 4. Fill (if necessary): 1:32 - 2:44 . If damage cannot be smoothed with sandpaper, fill with putty and spreader. Wait 5-10 minutes to dry (use heat gun below 50 degrees fahrenheit). Sand with 220 grit sanpdpaer. 5. Apply primer: 2:45 - 4:45 . Cover nearby areas with paper. Shake for 30 seconds and apply 4 lights coats. Wait 15 - 20 minutes to dry (use heat gun below 50 degrees fahrenheit). Remove Sand with 600 grit sandpaper. Keep paper wet. Sand edges of primer until smooth. 6. Apply base coat: 4:45 - 7:40. Shake can 30 seconds. Test spray pattern on cardboard. Apply multple light coats, vertical and horizontal, being sure to 'blend' new paint with old. Wait 5-10 minutes to dry. Never apply masking tape to the part your are painting to avoid 'picture frame' effect. 7. Apply clear coat: 7:40 - 9:34. Apply light coat. Apply heavier coat. Clear coat is dry in 20 minutes.

Owning an Auto Repair Shop - Management Success!
A majority of shop owners in the auto repair industry find taking the shop to the next level is their main problem. Their shops have either grown to a certain size in gross monthly sales and have then flattened off, or they can't seem to take home enough money. It does not matter how big a shop has grown. When it comes to the owner's checkbook, you should hear him groan. http://www.managementsuccess.com http://www.managementsuccess.com/Intro-Services/Black-Hole-Test/index.asp Music by Kevin MacLeod

Auto Repair: Starter Motors "Principles of the Starting Motor" 1956 US Army Auto Mechanics
NEW VERSION with improved video & sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esVXvjTvuQo More at http://auto-parts.quickfound.net/ "ELECTRICAL AND MAGNETIC PRINCIPLES INVOLVED IN THE OPERATION OF THE STARTING MOTOR - HOW ELECTRICAL ENERGY IS CONVERTED TO MECHANICAL ENERGY." Public domain film from the National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, clipping reduction, and equalization. Split with MKVmerge GUI (part of MKVToolNix), the same software can recombine the downloaded parts (in mp4 format): http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/doc/mkvmerge-gui.html US Army training film TF9-2331 see also: power steering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlpvyWAA8a0 drum brakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n20sTZggvYc planetary gears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8fAHTeDGiQ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starter_motor ...The modern starter motor is either a permanent-magnet or a series-parallel wound direct current electric motor with a starter solenoid (similar to a relay) mounted on it. When current from the starting battery is applied to the solenoid, usually through a key-operated switch, the solenoid engages a lever that pushes out the drive pinion on the starter driveshaft and meshes the pinion with the starter ring gear on the flywheel of the engine. The solenoid also closes high-current contacts for the starter motor, which begins to turn. Once the engine starts, the key-operated switch is opened, a spring in the solenoid assembly pulls the pinion gear away from the ring gear, and the starter motor stops. The starter's pinion is clutched to its driveshaft through an overrunning sprag clutch which permits the pinion to transmit drive in only one direction. In this manner, drive is transmitted through the pinion to the flywheel ring gear, but if the pinion remains engaged (as for example because the operator fails to release the key as soon as the engine starts, or if there is a short and the solenoid remains engaged), the pinion will spin independently of its driveshaft. This prevents the engine driving the starter, for such backdrive would cause the starter to spin so fast as to fly apart. However, this sprag clutch arrangement would preclude the use of the starter as a generator if employed in hybrid scheme mentioned above, unless modifications were made. Also, a standard starter motor is only designed for intermittent use which would preclude its use as a generator; the electrical components are designed only to operate for typically under 30 seconds before overheating (by too-slow dissipation of heat from ohmic losses), to save weight and cost. This is the same reason why most automobile owner's manuals instruct the operator to pause for at least ten seconds after each ten or fifteen seconds of cranking the engine, when trying to start an engine that does not start immediately. This overrunning-clutch pinion arrangement was phased into use beginning in the early 1960s; before that time, a Bendix drive was used... An intermediate development between the Bendix drive developed in the 1930s and the overrunning-clutch designs introduced in the 1960s was the Bendix Folo-Thru drive... Chrysler Corporation contributed materially to the modern development of the starter motor. In 1962, Chrysler introduced a starter incorporating a geartrain between the motor and the driveshaft. Rolls Royce had introduced a conceptually similar starter in 1946, but Chrysler's was the first volume-production unit. The motor shaft has integrally cut gear teeth forming a pinion which meshes with a larger adjacent driven gear to provide a gear reduction ratio of 3.75:1. This permits the use of a higher-speed, lower-current, lighter and more compact motor assembly while increasing cranking torque. Variants of this starter design were used on most rear- and four-wheel-drive vehicles produced by Chrysler Corporation from 1962 through 1987. It makes a unique, distinct sound when cranking the engine, which led to it being nicknamed the "Highland Park Hummingbird"—a reference to Chrysler's headquarters in Highland Park, Michigan. The Chrysler gear-reduction starter formed the conceptual basis for the gear-reduction starters that now predominate in vehicles on the road. Many Japanese automakers phased in gear reduction starters in the 1970s and 1980s. Light aircraft engines also made extensive use of this kind of starter, because its light weight offered an advantage. Those starters not employing offset geartrains like the Chrysler unit generally employ planetary epicyclic geartrains instead. Direct-drive starters are almost entirely obsolete owing to their larger size, heavier weight and higher current requirements.

A Career in the Motor Industry - Automotive Workshop Supervisor (JTJS62011)
An automotive engineer can move up through the ranks and become a workshop supervisor. Scott meets Continental Car Services workshop supervisor Devon Scott to learn about what his day might entail. "My primary role is to supervise the technicians and quality control," Devon explains. This means keeping the team busy, prioritising jobs and then allocating jobs to the most suitable technician. Being a fully qualified technician is a must for the role to ensure the job is being done correctly and to step in and offer assistance if necessary. Communication skills are also a top priority for Devon as he needs to maintain good working relationships with the team. They need to understand the importance of high quality work as with upmarket brands, customer expectations are also high. So when a job has been completed and the technician has completed the road test, Devon also will do a final quality control road test and check the work done before the car is handed back to the owner. Scott soon realises the road tests are like the icing on this job's cake! Find out more about this, and a huge variety of other careers, at http://www.justthejob.co.nz

Auto Shop for Sale vs. New Auto Repair Shop
https://gensteel.com/blog/video/find-an-auto-shop-for-sale-or-start-an-auto-repair-shop-in-a-steel-building Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/GeneralSteelTV Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/generalsteel +1 us at: https://plus.google.com/+Gensteelbuildings Tweet us at: https://twitter.com/gensteel Connect with us on: https://www.linkedin.com/company/general-steel-corporation Script transcript below: Is It Better to Find an Auto Shop for Sale or Plan on Starting an Auto Repair Shop in a Steel Building? Opening an auto repair shop in the $58 Billion auto shop industry is clearly an intriguing opportunity. In fact, the influx of entrepreneurs starting a mechanic shop has resulted in 1.4% growth every year over the past 5 years. The question is: should you be looking at buying an existing auto shop for sale or starting an auto repair shop in a new steel building? Here are a few pros and cons to help you evaluate buying an auto shop versus opening an auto repair shop in a new steel building: For most, starting an auto repair business in a new steel building does outweigh the benefits of buying an existing auto repair business. So lets look at what you need to know about opening an auto shop in a metal building. General Steel makes starting a mechanic shop simple with easy-to-install steel building kits that are both durable and less expensive than traditional construction. As you begin researching auto shop building plans, here are a few design considerations to keep in mind: Most auto buildings have a series of doors down one sidewall. These doors are typically 14 feet tall in order to accommodate semi trucks and these 14’ doors require a minimum 16’ tall building. Most steel building designs utilize x bracing in the sidewalls. If x bracing was used in the building above, the bracing would eliminate one of the access doors. So when it comes to designing your auto shop, we recommend going with portal frames rather than x bracing to gain an access door into each bay. Contrary to x bracing, portal frames allow full-usage of every bay in the shop. For example, in the 60 by 100 auto shop above there is a door in each bay along the south wall, which tells us that this building has been portal framed. If you opt to save by going with x bracing one of the bays would lose its access door for auto service due to the x bracing. This cuts back on the efficiency of your shop as a whole. Again by replacing the rod bracing with a portal frame, you gain full access to every bay in the shop. A portal frame does however require one extra foot in width and height – but the cost benefit of operating an extra bay in your shop easily makes up for the added expense. While opting for portal framing or x bracing can dramatically change the final design your auto shop, there are some characteristics that are consistent across all auto shop buildings like bay sizing, door locations and door types. • The bays in an auto shop never run smaller than 20 feet wide and never wider than 30’. • This is one of the reasons why metal auto buildings are favored over wood buildings; metal framing eliminates the need for interior columns • Whereas, wood buildings require a column every 7 to 8 feet You may have also wondered why our auto shop plans contain doors in the sidewalls instead of the end walls? It’s simple – sidewall doors allow for easier expansion in the long-run. Should you need to add space to expand your business in the future, it’s easier and more cost-effective to expand longer rather than wider. Not to mention, sidewall doors help maximize the space of the shop by allowing for more vehicles. Finally, there are two types of doors you can order for your steel auto building. We recommend either roll up doors (which roll into a huge canister) or sectional doors, which are similar to residential garages that follow a track. While both are about equal in cost, the roll up doors require more room. This choice ultimately comes down to personal preference, but our representatives are happy to help you weigh the pros and cons of each. We hope this video helped you in your search for a new auto building. If you need additional information or are ready to get started on your steel auto-building project, your team at General Steel is ready to assist. https://youtu.be/RwOL8xZmwFk

Creating a web database application in 5 minutes using AppGini
This screen cast will guide you through using AppGini ( https://bigprof.com/appgini ) to create a database web-application from scratch. In a few minutes, we'll create a simple product catalog, set it up and see it in action. 00:07 If you are looking for a way to make a user-friendly, fast and feature-rich web application in a very short time, that's when AppGini comes handy. This tutorial shows you how to create a web application in 5 minutes using AppGini. 00:21 First we'll start a new project. Let's give it a name: in our example we'll name it "product catalog". 00:31 Then we'll add two tables one for "categories" and another one for "items". 00:37 You can assign an icon for each table by clicking on the box at the left of the table name. 00:48 Next, we'll add fields to each table. Each table MUST contain a primary key field. If you name a field "ID", it will automatically become a primary key. You can add as many fields and tables as you need. 01:16 Now, let us try out some of AppGini's features. 01:18 If we set a field as a look-up, it would be displayed to users as a drop-down, listing data from another table. This makes your web application more organized. We'll set the "category" field as a look-up field simply by clicking on the "look-up field" tab, selecting "category" as the "parent table" then "category name" as the "parent caption field". 01:40 In addition, if you want to list items under each category, you'll need to configure the "categories" table by opening the "parent/children settings", select the "items" table, check "enabled", "show icon" and optionally rename the "tab title" to a more descriptive one. 01:57 All you need to do now is to generate your web application by clicking the magic stick icon. Choose your application path and AppGini will do the job for you. 02:14 These are the files generated by AppGini. 02:20 Let us visit our web application and see this in action. 02:37 This is the setup data page. Once we are done filling it, we start using our application. 02:52 As you can see, both tables appear on the first page. Let's go to the "Categories" table and enter some data. Here you can see the table fields. 02:59 To start adding a new record simply click "Add new". You will automatically be directed to the Data entry page, also known as Detail view form. 03:11 We'll enter Dresses and T-shirts as an example. Simply press "back" to see how the table looks like. 03:22 Once we are done, we jump to "items" table and start adding our data for this table as well. 03:43 Do you see how the "category" field is displayed? It's a drop down menu, because we set it up as a look-up field in AppGini. The drop down lists the categories that we entered a moment ago in the "categories" table. 03:59 AppGini offers special features for fields with immutable data like "size" and "target groups". 04:07 This is how the "items" table looks like after adding our data. 04:12 Now let us go back to AppGini to see how to make use of its features. 04:16 To create a drop-down list, click on the field name, then on "options list", and type all values you need, separating options with double semicolon. You can choose among three options for how to display your options list. In our case we will choose the "drop-down list". 04:36 We'll perform the same steps for the "target group" field, but this time we'll choose "radio buttons" instead of "drop-down list". 04:48 Once we generate, we get back to our web application, refresh the page and start adding a new record. 05:04 So this way our "size" field became a drop-down field and our "target group" field became a radio buttons field. 05:24 Finally, this is how our table looks like.
