A Day At The Shop With EricTheCarGuy

37:52
I've had a long standing request to put a webcam in the shop so that viewers can see what goes on in my shop on a work day. I couldn't work that out, but I asked Cameraman Brian to follow me around for a day to document whatever he sees. I also told him he could edit the video. In short, I gave Brian creative license to follow me around in the shop for a day and create a video of what he saw. This is the video he came up with. I hope it satisfies the request for a shop day in the life of EricTheCarGuy. Camera: Brian Kast Editing: Brian Kast, Eric Cook Thanks for watching. Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ I knew the original video would spark discussion and apparently it's caused quite a stir over at iATN. Inside My Odyssey Transmission - EricTheCarGuy

Inside My Odyssey Transmission - EricTheCarGuy http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ I would hardly call this video complete but you did ask me to make it for you. As of this writing the transmission is shifting fine however the light for the TCC came up and I haven't had time to look into that yet. It's funny though since it does appear to be working fine, it might be a loose connection or some other issue but like I said I haven't had the time lately. Perhaps I'll do an update video with what I find. I guess the big question would be if I would do this again and I would say that I might, but only on my car not someone else's, it's a lot of work to get one of these out without a lift or other useful equipment like a transmission jack. Anyway enjoy the insides of a Honda automatic transmission as I'm sure you won't see it often. --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.  EricTheCarGuy assumes no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in this video. EricTheCarGuy recommends safe practices when working with power tools, automotive lifts, lifting tools, jack stands, electrical equipment, blunt instruments, chemicals, lubricants, or any other tools or equipment seen or implied in this video.  Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, no information contained in this video shall create any express or implied warranty or guarantee of any particular result.  Any injury, damage or loss that may result from improper use of these tools, equipment, or the information contained in this video is the sole responsibility of the user and not EricTheCarGuy.

Choosing an Automotive Scan Tool -EricTheCarGuy

38:56
I've been asked about what scanner to buy for some time. Since ScannerDanner aka Paul Danner, stopped by the shop, I thought I would take the opportunity to have him help me out with this question. It is his namesake after all. The first step in choosing a scanner is to figure out what it is you really NEED in a scanner. Once you've done that, it's a matter of looking at the spec sheet for the tool you're considering and see if it meets those needs. Look for things like ABS capability, even SRS capabilities, manufacturer specific code capabilities, perhaps a 'help' database, and if the tool is 'bidirectional'. Also, for high end scanners, check out their help and training features that may come with your purchase. I know we used a lot of Snap-on scanners in this video, and we talked extensively on their features, however, there are other scan tool manufactures out there that make equally good tools. Paul and I only like to talk about what we know so sorry if this one seemed Snap-on bias. Also, the retail for the Verus is closer to $6K, not $10K as Paul said in the video. So don't beat us up too bad over that little flub. I'll post some links to some alternative tools that you might also want to check out that have similar capabilities. Here's the links. How to get EXACT INSTRUCTIONS to perform ANY REPAIR on ANY CAR (SAME AS DEALERSHIP SERVICE)

15:01
Link to get Dealership Workshop Manuals for ANY CAR: https://goo.gl/9XSEFb In this video I show you exactly where you can find the dealership workshop manuals for most cars to perform any service or repair at home with detailed STEP BY STEP instructions! **FAQ** The guys at EMO told me to ignore anything that says 1 year. It is not limited to a year, all manuals are lifetime. NOT All manuals are virtual machines like I showed in this video. I apologize but some come in different formats. If you need any support in how to view/install EMO will provide with no issues. There ARE a few limited TOYOTA models. Search the word Toyota instead of going to the list of cars. I saw manuals for a Yaris and Venza. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUE JUST REQUEST A REFUND. If there is any trouble just ask me and I will contact them directly. I want a good transparent relationship between my viewers and this service so if there are any issues just let me or EMO know. Thanks!

How To Install a Windshield the "Right" Way -EricTheCarGuy

35:23
The windshield on my 2004 Honda Element has been cracked for years. After last winter the crack had reached half way across and I decided it was time to do something about it. It just so happens Kyle Kiss, son of Rich Kiss of Kiss auto glass, is a fan of my show. He stopped by the shop one day with his dad and I asked if they would be interested in making a video about replacing the windshield on my Element. The rest is in the video. I know a little about replacing windshields, Rich knows a LOT. I learned quite a bit making this video. I hope you do too. A special thanks to Rich and Kyle for participating in this video and showing us how a professional replaces a windshield. How To Perform a Parasitic Draw Test - EricTheCarGuy

16:51
http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ This video has been a long timing coming and is one of the most requested things I get is about batteries going dead overnight so I'm very happy to finally bring you this video about the process of finding a parasitic draw which is a small drain on a battery above 50ma when the vehicle is shut off. Once you find the right fuse(s) the next step is to trace the components involved in that circuit till you find the source of the draw, you first start with a wiring diagram to give you an idea of where to start looking and then start unplugging things in that circuit to isolate the cause, it's quite scientific really a simple process of elimination. Here is a link to BBB's site that you can use to look up wiring diagrams for your application. http://www.bbbind.com/tech_database.html Good luck and if you have anymore questions check the database on my website and if you don't find what you're looking for there then post your question to my forum, here's a link. http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- Be safe, have fun, and stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.

Do You Need an Alignment? -EricTheCarGuy

14:31
I had recently done a bunch of suspension work and put new tires on my Acura Vigor. Because of that, I decided to make this video about alignments. I get a lot of questions about when to align a vehicle, especially with my strut replacement videos. I hope this video address those questions. Remember, vibrations aren't normally caused by issues with your alignment. If your vehicle pulls to one side, or you have issues with tire wear, then you likely have an alignment issue. Also remember there can be no play in the suspension when doing an alignment. So if you have loose suspension parts, address those before you do an alignment. If your vehicle has been in a collision, no matter how minor, you might want to have your alignment checked. Lastly, if you're getting new tires, get an alignment to go with them. It's your best investment, might as well protect it. Thanks for watching! Keep in mind that electrical problems come in all shapes and sizes so there really is no 'magic bullet' here but if you follow a basic procedure like the one shown in this video it might help you find and repair the problem. How To Winterize Your Vehicle -EricTheCarGuy

So if you're about to go into the winter season perhaps this video will help you with ideas on what you should do to your vehicle before the snow flies. I took a slightly different approach with this one in that I reached out to my viewers and asked them about what THEY do when they winterize their vehicles and incorporated many of their suggestions into this video. Even so, I'm sure there will be other good suggestions and I would urge you to either post them in the comments below or even better post them to the forum link above. Either way your comments and suggestions are welcome. Enjoy the video. Mini Cooper S (R56) Front End Removal

23:18
There are a lot of repairs on a modern Mini Cooper that may require the removal of the front end of the vehicle. In this video I show you how to remove the front bumper skin and front support on a 2007 Mini Cooper S, to expose the front of the engine. I performed this procedure because I was removing the engine and transmission. I also think it is beneficial if you want to repair some of the oil leaks on the front of your engine. The N14 in this car had several of these oil leaks. I’ll be covering the engine removal and the oil leak repairs in other videos within this series. I had some help with editing on this one from Javan Hovind. Toyota Sticking Gas Pedals - EricTheCarGuy

Toyota Sticking Gas Pedals - EricTheCarGuy Since this seems to be a hot topic I thought I would take a crack at it. I will start by saying that the procedures I recommend in this video should be used at your own discretion and with caution. I don't want anyone getting hurt because of something I recommended so play nice. As for Toyota's, they're great cars. This is something that occurs in rare instances so don't think that every car will have a problem. Once you get your letter go to the dealer and get your fix, it's just that simple. I've taken the time to explore what Toyota has to say about this and I have links posted below. http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota/toyota-consumer-safety-advisory-102572.aspx http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota/toyota-announces-comprehensive-153311.aspx Here is the link to the "Throttle Cleaning Video" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41yFXjibtLY --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.

2002 Chevy Cavalier Power Window Repair - EricTheCarGuy

15:18
Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ Visit PowerProbe http://www.powerprobe.com/powerprobe/Home.html No sooner did I get my new power probe than I needed it for this window repair. I've always liked this tool for this exact kind of repair as it makes it very easy to verify the operation of a 12v component with just the push of a button and now with the addition of the volt meter it's even better. I know the 'beeping' can get annoying but you can turn it off when you want but it's nice when you're working by yourself and are trying to verify a signal, listen for the noise and you're good. I hope this video gives you some insight into this type of repair I know a lot of people can get overwhelmed when confronted by an electrical repair but if you have a good wiring diagram and the right tools it's a good start to a successful repair.

Carpet and Seat Installation R56 Mini Cooper

18:55
This video will show you how to install the carpet, seats, and center console in an R56 Mini. This information may also apply to other Mini's of the same vintage. I removed the seats and carpet from my 2007 Mini Cooper S to dry things out. When I bought the car the window was open and it sat outside for a while. As a result, the interior was dirty and wet and needed to be dried out. While I had things removed, I thought it would be a good time to also do some detail work on the interior. It's looking, and smelling like a new car inside now. How To Save Your Vehicle From Rust!

**Sponsored Video** I recently took my rusty 2004 Honda Element to get Krown Rust protected. To say I was impressed doesn’t begin to describe it. I almost want to go out and drive in the salt to dare the Element to rust more. Seriously, the guys at Laserline in Anna OH did a great job with my Element. We’ll have to check back in a year to see how the rust is doing. I’m told that after about 3 years of treatment, the rust goes away and you’re left with nothing but protected metal.
